INFORMAI Ilk MUSDEE ANB MALIC& S& I^ WOUNDING, On the 31t ultimo, the dead body of a full grown male child was found on the beach at the Polka Hole, in the river Wear, Sunderland : it- was wrapped in a piece of old towel, and a small piece of writing paper was adhering to the body, with the words ' making and trimming' and some figures written thereon, apparently in a female's hand- writing. At the coroner's inquest a verdict of ' Wilful Murder against some person or persons unknown' was returned. £ 50 reward will be paid by Her Majesty's Government, to any person who shall give such information and evidence as shall lead to the conviction of the murderer er murderers, and the Secretary of State for the Home Department, will advise the grant of Her Majesty's gracious pardon to any accomplice, not being the person who actually committed the murder, who shall give such evidence as shall fjad to a like result. Stolen from the person on the platform at Kilwinning Railway Station, in the county of Ayr, between 6 and 6 p. m. on the 6 th instant : a common green leather Pocket Book, containing two £ IC0 Notes, eighteen £ 20 Notes, one. £ 5 Note, one £ 1 Note. All of the Commercial Bank of Scot- One of the large Notes is torn in the centre of the folds. Three men of the following description ate suspected : one about 30 years of age, 5 feet .6 or 7 inch^ iigh, fair com- plexion, thin fair whiskers and moustache, sharp features, and slender figure* Another is afeput 34 years of age, about 5 feet 10 inches high, fair comph$ fion, slightly pockpitted, small fair whiskers and moustache, and ordinary figure. And the other is about 38 years of agei fi feet 10 or 11 inches high, i<! . swarthy complexion, thin dark whf^ kers and moustache, and stout figure. Stolen from the person in Brighton, on the evening of the 6th instant: A gold English lever Watch, maker Lewis, Brighton, has an inscription inside the case, ' Presented to E. Spary, for his services to the Horticultural Society, from 1853 to 1863' and monogram on back. A gold open- face Geneva Watch, engine- turned back, maker Boxall, Brighton, supposed to be on the case inside. A silver English lever Watch, No. 9889, maker'StenniDg, Western- road. Hove, ' G. P.' engraved on outside case. Supposed stolen by a man about 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 8 inches high ; dressed in a light suit. And a silver lever Watch, No. 8735, ' Forse and Son' inside, ' E. B. P.' in old English on back, plain case. Gradwell, Sons;' a German Flute, silver mountings; a silver lever Watch, maker Roskell and Co., Liverpool, has the name ' Rev. Robert Gradwell,' engraved on the brass plate covering the works ; and an old- fashioned silver verge Watch, pair- case, maker Roskell and Co,, Liver- pool,- No. 3786. Information to be given to Superintendent Webb, Constabulary Office, Garstang, Lancashire.— Bow- street, November 15. 1 « Stolen, supposed by tramps, by means of housebreaking, between 11- 45 a. m. and 1 p. m. on the 6th instant, from the cottage of William Fuller, of Pangbourne, a dark cloth Coat, pockets on hips ; a pair of dark plaid Trousers and Waistcoat, a pair of light cord Trousers, and an old yellow flannel under Shirt. Information to bt given to Inspector Pocock, Berl> Constabulary, Reading.— Bow- street, November 10. During the night of the 3rd instant, the residence of the Rev. G. Taylor, of Sunningdale, Surrey, was broken into, and stolen therein : a silver Inkstand, with inscription thereon, ' Presented to the Rev. G. Taylor, by the inhabitants - of Wraysbury, 1860.' By two men, one from 45 to 60 years of age, about 5 feet 10 inches high, well built, brown hair, a few whisker, shaven chin, and sallow complexion ; dressed in a long brown overcoat, and black felt hat. The o her about 35 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, full black whiskers and moustache, shaven chin, stout built; dressed in dark overcoat, one sleeve torn, dark trousers, one leg torn on the inside, black felt hat, and light- coloured wrapper. They had with them a light bay Pony, 13 or 14 hands high, white face, in good condition, wearing a rush collar, a very lifbt built market cart, nearly new, low foot- Board, with lamp Attached, very narrow tire, supposed to be painted green. These men had the appearance of ho- se copers. His father is a retired letter- carrier of the above town, is known in Glasgow by the name of YOUNG, and lived in that town last year. During the night of the 12th instant, the residence of Miss Nichols, of Westbourn Park, Newland, was broken into and stolen therein; a fish Slice ;' a soup Ladle; a cake Knife and Fork ; three dessert Knives and Forks, ivory handles; three tea Spoons; two salt Cellars; two salt Spoons ; a pair of sugar Bows ; a caddy Spoon, all silver ; a Half- sovereign ; a three penny Piece; a Sixpence, with holes through ; and an American Coin. Supposed stolen from a field at Rushall, between the llth and 12th instant, the property of William Morton, Green- lane, Walsall: a bh C'i filly, 3 years old, two white fetlocks, and v h te star on forehead ; also a brown filly, six months old, black legs, and small white star on forehead. Also supposed stolen, from a field at Aldridge Lodge, during the night of the 12th instant, the property of F. F. Clarke, Esq.: a bay horse, 14 hands 3 or 4 inches high, and a cream coloured gelding, both iu good condition. Stolen between 1 and 2 p. m. on the 7th instant, from a meadow in Days- lane, Bexley : a well- bred high action lig</_ bay carriage Gelding, rising 7 years old, 15 bands 3 inches high, small head, and near foreleg rather tender. Found on the 17th ultimo, near Stafford, and supposed to have been stolen : two red and white Heifers, rising 3 years old, and in good condition. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Oswell, Stafford.— Bow- street, Novembtr 13. Description of a man charged with stealing a Horse, recovered, at Cannock Chase, on the 9th instant: he called himself JOSEPH,- and has been for three weeks in the employ of John Bonell, of Gentleshaw, builder, as carter, 23 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, stout, dark face, high cheek bones, whiskers of about 3 weeks growth, and dii ty looking ; dressed in black hard hat, dark short shabby jacket, watertight boots with open fronts and toe- caps ; he is supposed to belong to Sutton, near Birmingham. Informa- tion to be giveu to Superintendent Hill, Brownhills, near Walsall, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, November 10. Description of GEORGE CURTIS, late landlord of the ' Hertfordshire Arms ' beerhouse, Windsor, charged on a warrant with larceny : he is about 36 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, black hair, turning grey. Formerly a servant to Leopold Rothschild, Esq. Information to be given to Superintendent Hayes, Police Station, Windsor, Berks.— Bow- street, November 15. Description of ALBERT C. COLE, charged with embezzling on the 26th September last, the sum of £ 7 15s., the monies of his master : he is about 18 years of age, about 5 feet 4 inches high, full fresh clean face, brown hair, has a large scar on cheek, and of rather pleasing countenance; dressed when he left Exeter in a dark mixture grey suit, blue overcoat, and black bowler hat. Laft here for London by the London and South Western Railway 30th ultimo. Infor- mation to be given to Chief Constable Bent, Exeter, who holds a warrant for hie apprehension, Nmmbtr 16, Description of a tramping groom, charged with stealing a horse clipping Machine, recovered, from a stable at Denham, Bucks, on the 1 Ith instant: he is about 28 years of age, about 5 feet 8 inches high, fair complexion, no whiskers ; dressed in as old grey suit, trousers patched at knees, and hard felt hat; was accompanied by a man who had one arm in a^ sling, blind of one eye, and wearing a white slop. Information to be given to Superintendent Dunham, Slough, or to Inspector Sutton, Iver, Bucks.— Bow- street, November 15. Description of CHARLES CLAYDEN, a labourer, charged on a warrant with stealing 2 bushels of Barley at Littlebury, on the 11th instant; the property of Mr. John Burrell, his master: he is 60 years of age, but looks'younger, about 6 feet high, medium size, grey hair and very thin, slight grey whiskers, eyes very weak and red looking, and draws his mouth at one corner when talking ; dressed in a black billycock hat, blue and white striped cotton shirt, light cord jacket, vest, and trousers, and long- light" leather leggings nearly new, fastened with straps below the knees. He was making his way to London. Information to ibe given to Superintendent Flood, Newport, * or to Inspector Allen, Saffron Walden, who holds a warrant for his apprehension, - Bow- street, November 15, • Absconded on 8rd instant, ^' charged with embezzling Cheque for £ 14 3s. 6d„ and other large sums in July last, the monies of his masters, Quick and Co., leather merchants, Exeter : EDWIN REYNOLDS, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark complexion, full face, rather stout dress, black frock coat, dark trousers, high hat. He is a commercial traveller in the leather trade. Information ta be given to Chief Constable Bent, Exeter, who' holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, Nov. 15. Absconded on the 10th instant, embezzling £ 16 5s. 7s. from 48, Brushfield- street, Spitalfields : a man, 22 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, dark complexion, hair, moustache, and tuft on chin ; dressed in dark clothes, and deerstalker hat. A native of Poland, and speaks English imperfectly. — Metropolitan Police, H Division, November 15. Further particulars with reference to the robbery as Captain Beville's, Great Horkesley, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 3rd instant: WALTER SMITH deserted from Colchester Camp, not Aldershot, and will probably endeavour to enlist again, or visit militajy towns. The following is a description of the property stolen : twenty yards of rich light blue Silk; twenty yards of black moire Antique; ten yards of black Silk; a brown silk Dress, trimmed with a lighter shade; a black silk Dress; a black Hat, trimmed with white lace and black velvet; a light blue moire antique Dress; two black pilot cloth Jackets ; a dark blue frock Coat; a page's Jacket; and a red Waistcoat, all new ; a brown silk Umbrella, ivory handle ; a pair of gold Ear- rings ; coral Ornaments, large emerald set round with pearls; and a quantity of ladies under Linen. Absconded on the 10th instant, embezzling £ 40, from 1, Phipp- street, Shoreditch : a man, 28 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches liigh, fair complexion, hair light and thin, prominent nose, clean shaved; dress, dark ribbed cloth suit, black billy- cock hat, respectable appearance.— Metropolitan Police, G Division, November 15, Charged " on a warrant with obtaining goods by false pretences: LIONEL VERNON, alias PARKER, alias HAMPSON, about 33 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, dark and curly hair, proportionate build, moustache on upper lip, smart appearance, walks erect, and is of good address. He sometimes has a woman in his company, respectably dressed. Frequents respectable hotels and public houses, and represents himself to be an agent in advance of Sanger's circus, and obtains board and lodging at hotels under this pretence. Information to be given to Superintendent Steen, Town Hall, Runcorn, Cheshire.— Bow- street, November 15. Description of WILLIAM HOLMES, charged with larceny in Birmingham, he is a clerk, about 45 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, stout made, light hair, whiskers, and moustache, of respectable appearance. Information to be given to Chief Constable Bond, Police Office, Birmingham, Warwick, who holds a warrant for his apprehension,— Bow street, November 13. Stolen from a dwelling- house in the parish of Burnham, Bucks, on the 10th instant: a black cloth Top- coat, the \ property of the Bev. C. T. Porter, which has since been rocovered. By two tramps of the following description : one about 5 feet 9 inches high, about 24 years of age; dressed . iu a white slop, cord trousers, and black cap, has one of his iantfgxtied up in a handkerchief, and left eye either injured entirely gone : the other is about 35 years of age, about 5 feet 6 inches high; dressed in a dark jacket, plaid trousers, worn at knees, dark hat, and dark whiskers, and one of them was wearing a pair of gaiters. Information to be given to Superintendent Dunham, Police Station, Slough, Bucks. — Bow- street, November 13. Description of JOHN JACQUES, a labourer, who absconded from Clay Cross on 31st October last, charged on a warrant with stealing on that date from the dwelling- house of Thomas Carlin a pair of dark cloth Trousers, to fit a youth about 18 ; a plaid Vest, a Pistol, and a Powder Flask. He is about 18 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, brown hair, grey eyes, freckled face; dressed - when last seen in dark suit with cap with two peaks. He is a native of Leicester, but had talked of going to Staleybridge, to work at a new bridge in course of erection there. Information to be given to Superintendent Coope, Alfreton, or to Inspector Handley, Clay Cross, Derbyshire, who holds the warrant.— Bow- street, November 13. Stolen from a bed- room at the ' Bricklayer's Arms' inn, Castle Donnington, on the morning of the 8th instant : a lady's gold Watch, rather small size, flowered case, gold dial, supposed jewelled in three holes, black figures, the figures 9 and 10 are nearly rubbed out, makers name and number not known. By a man of the following description, who had lodged in the house one night, 40 to 45 years of age, 5 feet 2 or 3 inches high, dark hair and complexion, and whiskers meeting under chin; dressed in dark coat, cord trousers, and dark billycock hat; had the appearance of a tramping labourer. Information to be given to Superintendent Peberdy, Loughborough, Leicester.— Bow- street, November 13. Description of THOMAS HARDMAN, charged with absconding with workhouse Clothing, which are marked ' Barrow Workhouse' on the lining of jacket sleeve and on lining of vest and trousers : from 40 to 50 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, hair turning grey, whiskers and mous- tache shaved off; dressed in grey tweed jacket and vest, white ribbed fustain trousers, and low blucher boaw"; is a professional tramp, but has worked as a brickmaker, and is a native of Manchester. Information to be given to Superin- tendent Barker, County Police Office, Barrow- in- Furness, Lancashire.— Bow- street, November 13. Stolen from the Royal Hotel, Sutton Coldfield, near Birmingham, on the 10th'instant, the following articles : 13 silver Spoons, twelve tea, one dessert, marked ' H. W.' 1 silver Paper Knife, with Scripture text on each side. 1 small diamond Bing, diamond surrounded with pearls. 1 gold cameo Brooch, light colour. 1 small, square silver Brooch. 1 smsil. bid fashioned gold Ear- ring. 1 silver Buckle, about 3 inches long. 1 small Penknife. 1 lady's Hair Pin, imitation of a bunch of currants. 1 string of Pearls. 1 small rosewood Box, lined with green velvet. 1 small silver- plated Scent- box, washed with gold inside, man of the following description, who engaged a bed By . . there the day previous : he is about 22 years of age, short and stout, fair complexion, and clean shaved : dressed in a dark plaid suit intermixed with red and green, deerstalker hat, and black satin necktie. He left behind him an old black leather bag which contained a pillow. Information to be given to Superintendent Gallaway, Constabulary Station, Aston, near Birmingham, Warwickshire.— Bow- st., Nov. 13, Stolen from a dweliing- house in the borough of Bolton, on the 30th ultimo : a Telescope, marked ' Wood, 74, Cheap- side, London ;' a bunch of Keys, a black silk Handkerchief, a Pocket- book, and a pair of blue cloth Trousers, marked in the lining ' Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Company.' Also from another dwelling- house, on the 6th instant : £ 2 14s. 6d. in Money, and a pair of tweed cloth Trousers, which have since been found pledged. Both feloni^ were effected by a man named ROBERT WELSH UNSWORTH, alias THOMAS BLACK, alias ROBERT HALL, from 25 to 30 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, dark complexion and hair, slight moustache, but no whiskers, and has lost the end of the middle finger of left hand; dressed in black cloth frock overcoat and vest, dark cloth trousers', and blaek billycock hat. Stated he was an agent for the sale of sewing machines, and at another place that he was a bell hanger, and. that he belonged to tbe Primitive Methodist body. Information to be given to Chief Constable Beech, Bolton, Lancashire, who holds a warrant for hfe apprehension,— Bow- street, November 13. Stolen on/ the 8th instant, from 130, Ebury- street, Pimlico: a ladys darK sealskin Jacket, brown quilted satin lining, a pocket in lining of left side. By a woman, 20 years of age, short, dark complexion, the lobe of one ear divided ; dressed in brown dress, grey shawl, black straw hat, trimmed black velvet and feather.— Metropolitan Police, B Division, Nov. 13.
