INFORMATIONS. ARSON AND WILFUL BURNING. Between 11 p. m. on the 2nd and 1 a. m. on the 3rd inst., two small Stacks of Hay were discovered to be on fire on the premises of William Hyde and Alfred Hill, at Dukinfield, both of which were partially destroyed, and are supposed to have been wilfully set on fire. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Arrowsmith, or to Inspector Cooper, Constabulary Station, Dukinfield, Cheshire,— Bow- street, No- vember 6. FORGERY. Description of GEORGE WINFORD PERCY, lately a Clerk in the Bristol Docks Office, who absconded on the 26th ultimo, charged on a warrant with forging and uttering a Cheque on the 31st August last: about 24 years oE age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, slight build, small dark whiskers and moustache, sallow complexion, and careworn appearance; dressed respectably £ 20 reward will be paid by tbe Bristol Docks Committee to any person giving such information as" shall lead to his apprehension. Information to be given to Inspector Kiordan, Bridewell- street Police Station, Bristol, • who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, No- vember 3. man, 35 to 40 years of age, about 5 feet 5 inches high, small light whiskers ; dressed in a dark billycock hat, and cotton cord trousers. A grey coat with imitation pockets on hips, a pair of blucher boots, and a small prayer book, with a white back and a brass cross on one side, were left behind. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Wilson, Tattenhall, or to Sergeant Bethell, Malpas, Cheshire.— Bow- street, Nov. 6. Stolen between 1 and 7 a. m., on the lst instant, from the dwelling- house of William Brooks, George- street, West Smethwick : one cloth Overcoat, dark green collar, has one pocket in breast, and two in skirts, has been worn pretty well ; one new cloth Coat, grey mixture, pockets same as overcoat: two pairs of low Shoes, one pair new, the other has been wors, both elastic- side; one pair of elastic- side Boots, much worn, all men's size; and a quantity of Bacon and Groceries were also stolen at the same time. Also stolen between 1130 p. m., on the 31st ultimo, and 6 a. m. on the lst instant, from the dwelliug- house of George Moore, Victoria- street, West Smethwick ; one pair of elastic- side Boots, men's size, nearly new; one pair of ditto, women's size, nearly new : one black scarf Shawl, with black silk fringe ; one new Shirt, Oxford print, finished all but buttons ; one pair of lambs wool Stockings, to fit a child 6 years old ; one piece of check Print, about a yard- and- a- half long, and about a yard wide. Entrance effected in both cases by knocking the catch of the windows back. Information to be given Sergeant Asbury, Smethwick, near Birmingham.— Bow- ttreet, November 3. During the night of the 31st ultimo, the dwelling- house of W. R. Tomlinson, Esq., Ashby- road, near Burton- on- Trent, was broken aud entered, and stolen therein : a lady's gold Geneva Watch, No. 66857 ; a dozen fish Knives and Forks, electro- plated; four electro napkin Rings, marked ' 1, 2, 3, and 4'; a silver wine Strainer ; three dessert Knives and seven Forks ; a musical Box, will play four tunes; an electro- plated fish Slicer ; a black Great- coat; aud a black felt Hat, lined with blue silk. Information to be given to Superintendent Hallam, Police Station, Woodville, Burton- on- Trent, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, November 3. Between 8 a. m. and 8 p m., on the 21st ultimo, the dwelling- house of John Rogers, Cholmondeley was broken and entered, and stolen therein : a light brown cloth Coat, with grey lining, nearly new ; a blue and white striped silk Hankerchief ; and a double cased silver verge Watch, . Stolen from the person of H. A. Homer, on the 24th ult., on the race- course at Newmarket, an old fashioned English gold Watch, cream- coloured enamelled dial, seconds hand, minute hand slightly bent, and smooth back. Information to be given to Inspector Sargent, Newmarket, Suffolk.— Bow- street, November 1. Stolen from the person of a gentleman on Newmarket \ 1 large black and red Table Cloth, much worn. £ 10 reward will be paid to any person or persons giving such information as shall lead to the recovery of the property, and conviction of the offender or offenders. Information to be given to Superintendent Pallant, Police Station, Arrington, near Royston, Cambs.— Bow- street, Oa. 30. During the night of the 25th instant, the office of Ewloe Hall Collery, Buckley, was broken into, and 3s. 6d. in Copper, stolen therein. Also the same nigi t St. Mary's Church, Buckley, was broken and entered, am the Poor Box was broken open, and the contents stolen, an ii < n bar about 20 inches long was left behind. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Adams, or to Inspector Minshull, Mold, Flintshire.— Bow- st., Oct. 30. Stolen on the night of the 31st ultimo, from a stable at North Mimms, Herts : a light bay Horse, about 3 5 hands high, a white mark down the face, on the back, and on the off hind leg. Also stolen, on the same night, from a cart shed at North Mimms : a dark green Cart, - with daik green cushions ; and a set of Harness, brass- mounted, the bridle is marked ' R. S.' Information to be given to Inspector Best, Police Station, Hatfield, Herts.— Bow- street, November 6. Stolen from a field in the Three Elms, Burghill, on the 20th ultimo : a brown nag Gelding, 4 years old, about 15 hands 2 inches high, and a wart on each cheek, Information to be " given to Superintendent Cope, County Police Station, Hereford.— Bow- street, November 6. Stolen from a* stable at Lawley Bank during the night of the 3rd instant: a dark brown Mare, aged, with white star on forehead, black legs, about 15 hands high, and in low condition. Between the dwelling- house of Mrs. Celitia Slater, of the Grove, Green Head, near Cheadle, waa burglariously entered, and stolen therein : two Hams; a bottle of Whisky; and two Half Sovereigns, and 14s. in Silver, were taken from the children's save- alls. Between 6T5 and 8 p. m. on the 29th ult., the dwelling- house of Miss Smith, of Summertown, near Oxford, was entered and stolen therefrom: four silver Table Spoons, two marked ' M.', two ' J. E. S.'; three silver Salt Spoons, Stolen between 5 pm. 27th, and 8 am., 29th ultimo, from a field at Wimbledon Park Estate, Wimbledon: a light p. m. on the 22nd, and 7 a. m. on the 23rd ult., I chesnut Pony, ^ — Metropolitan Police, V Division, November 3. 1 A. He assumed the name of Charles Rodgers, of Sheffield. 3p. m. on the 25th instant, from the cottage of John Hopwood, The mare is an iron grey, nearly half- bred, about 16 hands of Betton, near Market Drayton,: a black cloth Jacket, 2 inches high, rising 5 years old, slight blemish inside coffin joint of near hind leg. hair on rump Slightly rubbed off, rather long tail, undocked, and draws the near hind leg up when standing. Supposed stolen from the person of Matthew Mattinson, cattle dealer, on tbe evening of 28th ultimo, either in Carlisle; pockets on hipa and inside left breast ; a black cloth Ve.- v or in a third- class carriage by the 7.30 p. m. train, between1 both bound with black braid ; a pair of black cloth Trousers', Carlisle and Pennth : a small jean Bag or Purse, with two flap fronts, lined with calico; a pair of elastic- side Boots, compartments, contammga Cheque for £ 117, and £ S0or £ 90, j wlt, h toecaps, brow* buttons up the fiouts, nearly new; a in £ 5 Bank of England Notes. A man of the following 1 red Pocket- handkerchief, white spots round the border ; aud description, who occupied the same compartment of the; 16a. i0d. in money. Supposed by a man, about 40- i years of railway carnage with Mattinson, is suspected : he is about: age> 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, fresh complexion, < jark brown 30 to 35 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, fair hair, hairi smau whiskers, no moustache; dressed in old blue pilot and light whiskers, worn on cheeks only ; dressed in shabby dark tweed clothes, black felt hat, aEd appeared to be either a drover or a cattle dealer. He did not leave the train at Penrith. Information to be given to Superintendent Fowler, Penrith, or at the County Chief Constable's Office, Carlisle, Cumberland.— Bow- street, November 1. BREAKING. Stolen between 2 and 6 p. m. on the 2nd instant, by means of housebreaking : a black clath Coat, lined with glazed calico, pockets on hips, and old- fashioned tight sleeves; a brown cloth Coat, with pockets on hips and left breast, lined with alpaca; a grey cloth Coat, with grey lining, pockets on hips and left breast; a pair of large plaid cloth Trousers, and double breasted Vest; three pairs of grey knitted Stockings; two fancy regatta Shirts, one a striped1, and the other a plaid; a pair of lace- up Boots, brass eyelets, two rows of round headed nails round the soles, and a few short rows in the centre, also a patch under the outside of left boot, fastened on with tin tacks ; two gold weddiug Rings, one broken; a small Penknife; a Blanket; a white flannel Shirt; four black- hafted Knives and Forks ; four white- hafted Knives and Forks; and a guano Bag, By a jacket, moleskin trousers, very greasy, black billycock hat and strong boota. Information to be given to Superinten- tendent Haines, Whitchurch, or Sergeant Galliers, Market Drayton, Salop.— Bow- streetf October 30. Between 11 p. m. and 6a. m,, on the night of 27th instant, the house of A. C. Wright, Esq., at Melbourn. Cambs, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : 1 silver Trowel with inscription, ' Presented to A. C. Wright, Esq, on laying the foundation- stone of Manse, 18th June, 1874.' 3 silver Cups, two engraved ' A. C. W.', the other plain. 1 ditto Mug, lined with gold, engraved ' A. M. W.' 1 decanter Stand, mounted with silver. 1 cake Basket, supposed silver, embossed with flowers, 2 plated Salvers, 1 ditto Cruet Stand. 1 ditto Spirit Stand. 1 ditto Biscuit Box. 22 old Bilver Coins ( English). 1 bronze Medal of the reign of Quean Adelaide. £ 16 in Gold. 3 Purses, two beaded and one morocco. 2 silk Handkerchiefs, one white with raised flowers at each corner, th,& other- white ground with blue rose buds. The Mara stolen from Newton in Cleveland ( advertised in the Police Gazette of the 29th September last), has been recovered at Royston, Herts, and the two men described below are charged with stealing the fame, the mare having been traced to their possession at Great Shelford on the the 29th September last, where they disposed of it: JOSIAH JARVIS, alias GINGER JARVIS, alias GINGER BOB, a native of Norwich, Norfolk, where he is well known, hav- ing been twice sentenced to penal servitude, ia from 35 to 40 year's of age, 5 feet 11 to 6 feet high, very red hair,. ginger coloured whiskers, turns his feet out when walking, stands very erect, and stout build ; " dressed in a brown mixture cloth suit and brown hard felt hat; and LONG FRED, alias JONEY, alias BIG JOE, from 30 to 35 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, dark brown hair cut very short, slight moustache and imperial, dark eyes and complexion, and pro portionate build. Both are low horse copers, and are well known in the south of England. Supposed to attend the Repository horse sales at St, Martin's- lane and other places in London. Information to be given to Superintendent cloth jacket, and. black bonnet, Simpson, Constabulary Office, South Stockton, or to Inspector Beville's service. Both Holmes, Constabulary Office, Stokesley, North Riding of Yorkshire.— Bow- sireet, November 1. Found at Great Gaddesden, Herts, on the 12th ultimo : eight 2- year old Bullocks, five brown and white, and three of red colour. Supposed stolen. Information to be given to Inspector Goodyear, Great Berkhampstead, Herts.— Bow- st., November 1. Found straying at Witton, near Birmingham, on the 10th ultimo, and supposed stolen : a grey Horse, aged, 15 hands 3 inches high, camel backed, and in good condition. Information to be given to Superintendent Gallaway, Con- stabulary Office. Aston, near Birmingham. — Bow - street, November 1. Description of three men, charged with stealing on the 14th instant: a Horse, Cart, and Harness, recovered, tbe property of Edward Johnson, of 10, Arsenal- street, Small Heath, Birmingham : WILLIAM LONG, known as TRAFFIC JOE, 58 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, thin build, light complexion, hair turning grey, small whiskers, slightly deaf, and puts his hand to his ear when talking ; dressed in dark clothes, high hat, and carries a walking stick. HOLLINGSWORTH, 21 or 22 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches higb, thin build, fair complexion, light brown hair, hazel eyes, clean shaved, hair cut close behind ; dressed in dark snuff- coloured tweed suit, hard billycock hat, and of respectable appearance. And JAMES BIRD, alias SMITH, alias TIPCAT, 19 or 20 years. of age, 5 feet 1 inch high, dark complexion, round face, stout build, no whiskers or beard, large dark eyebrows, scald or burn mark left side of face, from temple to cheek,; dressed in dark coat and vest, shephead's plaid trousers, and hard billycock hat. Information to be giveu to Head Constable Norris, Coventry, Warwick, who holds warrants for their apprehension.— Bow- street, October 30. Charged with stealing a brown Mare, recovered, from Daventry, on the night of tbe 26th ultimo : A man known as GINGER JARVIS, about 40 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches bigh, dark sandy hair, cut short ; dressed in a brown mixture suit. Supposed a native of Norwich. , And a man known as LONG FRED, is about 35 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches high, dark hair, cut short, slight moustache, and email imperial, fresh complexion, walks erect, and is very active; dressed iit dark clothes, supposed to be • well known around the suburbs of London. They were travelling with a woman, about 35 yeara of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, very fresh complexion; dark hair, stoutly built, and fine looking, was wearing a black and red plaid shawl, they were travelling with a high strong spring cart, and represented themselves to be hawking cheese. Information to be given to Head Constable Foster, Borough Police, Daventry, who holds a wariant for their apprehension. .— Baw- street, October 27. She was cook in Captain Both absconded on the 25th ultimo, and are supposed to have gone to London. Information to be given to tha County Police at Colchester, Essex,— Bow street, November I. Description of WILLIAM KEIGHT, charged with stealing from a dwelling- house, where he lodged in Bole Bridge- street, Tamworth, on the 27th ultimo : a pair of corduroy Trousers, nearly new; a pair of light- coloured woollen Trousers, and a woollen Waistcoat, same material; a brown mixture Coat, lined with black alpaca ; a plaid calico Shirt; a pair oE white cotton Socks; and a black billycock Hat: he is about 26 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, light hair, no whiskers, pale iface, rough voice, and occasionally works as a striker and jollier; he haa lodged at 62, Dartmoor- street, Birmingham, Warwick- lane, Coventry, and Russell- street, Walsall. Information to be given to Superintendent Bowen, Burton- on- Trent, or to Sergeant Giibride, Police Office, Tamworth, Staffordshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, November I. Absconded, charged with stealing from No. 72, Totten- ham- court- road, a quantity of Drapery, recovered : ABSOLOM GEORGE ROGERS, 35 years of age, 5 ft. 3 inches huh and dark complexion ; dressed in light cloth overcoat, frown check trousers, and high black bat; he had a plain gold ring on little finger of left hand.— Metropolitan Police, E Division, November 1. Stolen from a dwelling - house in Oldham, about 6' 45 a. m. on the 27th ultimo : an oval gold Brooch, with an enamel Swiss scene, about 2 inches long by 1- j inch wide ; a lady's gold Ring, with onyx stone3 and pearls ; an oval gold Locket, diamond centre, the diamond is a large one, set in black raised star; eighteen electro- plated Dessert Knives and eighteen Forks, with pearl handles; a large Cake Knife and Foik to match ; an electro- plated Fish Knife and Fork, large size, with crest— bird with a leaf in its mouth; five electro- plated Fish Knives and four Forks, small size ; two electro- plated Spirit Labels, Whisky and Brandy; a Case, containing child's silver Knife, Fork, and Spoon ; a silver Tea Caddy Spoon, fiddle pattern ; a blue Overcoat, velvet collar, green and black plaid lining, two rowa ( four each) black bone buttons, two outside pockets and one inside left breast; a blue ribbed cloth Coat, mock laps, lined with black twilled calico, two pockets behind, and two cloth buttons on each side ; a pair of green and black plaid woollen Trousers, fly fronts, black stripe down each leg ; and a new Shirt, mixture cotton and wool, blue stripes, hand sewn. By a man who waa seen to leave the house wearing the stolen clothes, about 25 years of age, about 5 feet 3 inches high, stout build, dark complexion, and black moustache. £ 10 reward will be paid to any person who will give such information as shall lead to the apprehension aud conviction shipbreaker and metal merchant. C .— Bow- street, November 1. in Brierley Hill since the id& j& cjsFTfr Further particulars respecting CHARLES LESTER ( described in the Police Gazette of the 20th ultimo), charged • with stealing Rings at Tunbridge Wells : be broke away from an escort at Herbert's Hospital, Woolwich, while under arrest for desertion from the Royal Artillery. He is a native of St. John's, Brighton, and ia 26 yeara of age, and 5 feet 9f inches high. Information to be given to tbe Head Con- stable, Tunbridge Wells, Kent, who holds a warrant for hia arrest,— Bow- meet, November 6, Absconded charged with embezzling £ 191, from 37, Lower Kenninton- lane: a man, 28 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, very pale complexion, lull face, dark hair, ahd slight moustache, stout build ; dressed in blue overcoat, dark under ditto, dark mixture check woollen trousers and vest, black opera bat aud low shoes, carries a watch and chain, with locket, shield pattern attached. He is likely to embark for some Foreign port.— Metropolitan Police, L Division, November 6. Charged on a warrant with embezzling several sums of Money of bis matter, David Jones, of Dartford, a butcher: WILLIAM OSBORN, a journeyman butcher, 25 to 26 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, few light whiskers, and moustache, and of smart appearance. He is a native of ' Northampton, and came from there to Dartford, 5 or 6 months since, he has a relative at Daventry, and is accompanied by his wife. Information to be given to Superintendent Fread, Kent Constabulary, Dartford.— Bow- street, November 6. Absconded on tbe 30th ultimo, from Goldhawk- road, Shepherd's- bush, embezzling £ 13 4s. 4d.: a man, 40 years of aje,* 6 feet 4 inches high, complexiou, hair, and whiskers dark ; dress, black cloth coat, worsted cord trousers, and black billycock hat.— Metropolitan Police, T Division, Nov. 3. Absconded ou the 30th ultimo, from 12, Grange- road, St. Pancras, stealing a pocket case of Surgical Instruments : a man, 36 years of age, 5 feet 7 iuches high, complexion and hair dark ; dress, blue frock coat, dark trousers, and high hat. -— Metropolitan Police, Y Division, November 3. Description of a man, charged with stealing a Coat at Burbage, Wilts, on 26th ultimo ( recovered) : middle age, 5 feet 9 inchea high, rather slight build, thin long face, light whiskers and moustache ; dressed in a black coat and vest, supposed blue serge trousers, cloth cap with French peak. He stated he was au iron worker, and had been in the army. Will most likely call at engineer's and smith's shops for work. Information to be giveu to Inspector Maggs, Wilts Con- stabulary, Pewsey, Wilts.— Bo v- ureet, November 3. Absconded from Oldbury on the 11th ultimo, charged • with embezzling £ 53 8s. 10d , the money of his employer William C. Hodgetts, timber dealer.
