Between 8 a. m. and 8 p m., on the 21st ultimo, the dwelling- house of John Rogers, Cholmondeley was broken and entered, and stolen therein : a light browa cloth Coat, with grey lining, nearly new ; a blue and white striped silk Hankerchief ; and a double cased silver verge Watch, glass cracked, common Chain with small Seal in the shjpe of a hammer attached, No. 696, maker ' Samuel Newnes, Whit- church.' Information to be given to Superintendent Wilson, Tattenhall, or to Sergeant Bethell, Malpas, Cheshire. — Bow- street, November 3. Between 8 p. m. on the 22nd, and 7 a. m. on the 23rd ult., the dwelling- house of Mrs. Celitia Slater, of the Grove, Green Head, near Cheadle, was burglariously entered, and stolen therein : two Hams; a bottle of Whisky; and two I Half Sovereigns, and 14s. in Silver, were taken from the children's save- alls. Between 6T5 and 8 p. m. on the 29th ult., the dwelling- bouse of Miss Smith, of Summertown, near Oxford, was entered and stolen therefrom: four silver Table Spoons, two marked ' M.', two ' J. E. S.'; three silver Salt Spoons, ' A. M- S.'; and six silver Tea Spoons. ' E. P.' Description of GEORGE WINFORD PERCY, lately a Clerk in the Bristol Docks Office, who abscinded on the 26th ultimo, charged on a warrant with forging and uttericg a Cheque on the 31st August last: about 24 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, slight build, small dark whiskers j Stolen by means of housebreaking, between 10 a. m.- and and moustache, sallow complexion, and careworn appearance ; 3 p, m. on , the 25th instant, from tbe Cottage of John Hopwood, dressed respectably. £ 20 reward will be paid by the Bristol 0f Betton, near Market Drayton: a " black cloth Jacket, Docks Committee to any person giving such information as j pockets on hips aad inside left breast; a black cloth Vest, shall lead to his apprehension. Supposed by a man, about 40 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, fresh complexion, dark brown hair, small whiskers, no moustache; dressed ia old blue pilot jacket, moleskin trousers, very greasy, black billycock hat, and strong boots. Informatioa to] be given to Superintendent Benson, Newmarket, Cambridge- shire,— Bow- street, November 1, Supposed stolen from the person of Matthew Mattinson, cattle dealer, on the evening of 28lh ultimo, either in Carlisle or in a third- class carriage by the 7.30 p. m. train, between Carlisle and Penrith : a small jean Bag or Purse, with two compartments, containing a Cheque for £ 117, and ££ 0 or £ 90, in £ 5 Bank of England Notes. A man of the following description, who occupied the same compartment of the railway carriage with Mattinson, is sueptcted : he is about 30 to 35 year.- j of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, fair hair, and light whiskers, worn on cheeks only ; dressed in shabby dark tweed clothes, black felt bat, and appeared to be either a drover or a cattle dealer. He did not leave the train at Penrith. Information to be given to Superintendent Fowler, Penrith, or at the County Chief Constable's Office, Carlisle, Cumberland.— Bow- street, November 1. BURGLARY MD HOUii Stolen between 1 and 7 a. m., on the lst instant, from the dwelling- bouse of William Brooks, George- street, West Smethwick : one cloth Overcoat, dark green collar, has one pocket in breast, and two in skiits, has been worn pretty well ; one new cloth Coat, grey mixture, pockets same aa overcoat: two pairs of low Shoes, one pair new, the other lias been wora, both elastic- side; one pair of elastic- sido Boots, much worn, all mea's siza; and a quantity of Bacon and Groceries were also stolen at the same time. Also stolen between 11- 30 p. m., on the 3l& t ultimo, and 6 a. m. on the 1st iastaat, from the dwelling- house of George Moore, Victoria- street, West Smethwick ; one pair of elastic- side Boots, men's size, nearly new; one pair of ditto, women's size, nearly new : one black scarf Shawl, with black Bilk fringe ; oue new Shirt, Oxford print, finished all but buttons ; one pair of lambs wool Stockings, to fit a child 6 years old ; one piece of check Priut, about a yard- and- a- half long, and about a yard wide. During the night of the 31st ultimo, the dwelling- house of W. R. Tomlinson, Esq., Ashby- road, near Burton- ou- Trent, was broken and entered, and Btolen therein : a lady's gold Geneva Watch, No 66857 ; a dozen fish Knivcs and Forks, electro- plated; four electro napkin Rings, marked Drayton, Salop.— Bow- ttreet, October 30. Between 11 p. m. and 6 a. m, on tbe night of 27th instant, the house of A. C. Wright, Esq., at Melbourn, Cambs, was broken and » cntered, and stolen therein : 1 silver Trowel with inscription, ' Presented to A. C. Wright, Esq, on laying the foundation- stone of Manse, 18th June, 1874.' 3 silver Cup3, two engraved ' A. C. W.', the other plain. 1 ditto Mug, lined with gold, engraved ' A. M. W.' 1 decanter Stand, mounted with silver. 1 cake Basket, supposed silver, embossed with flowers. 2 plated Salvers. 1 ditto Cruet Stand. 1 ditto Spirit Stand. 1 ditto Biscuit Box, 22 old Bilver Coins ( English). 1 bronze Medal of the reiga of Queen Adelaide. £ 18 in Gold. 3 Purses, two beaded and one morocco. 2 silk Handkerchiefs, one white with raised flowers at each corner, the other white ground with blue rose buds. 1 large Llack and red Table Cloth, much worn. £ 10 reward will be paid to any person or persons giving such information as shall lead to tbe recovery of the property, and conviction of the offender or offenders. Information to be given to Superintendent Pallant, Police Station, Arrington, near Royston, Cambs.— Bow- street, Or,.. 30. During tbe night of the 25th instant, the cffice of E « vioe Hall Collery, Buckley, was broken into, and3s. 6d. in Copper, stolen therein. Also the same night St. Mary's Church, Buckley, was broken and entered, and the Poor Box was broken open, and the contents stolen, an iron bar about 20 inches long was left behind. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Adams, or to Inspector Minshull, Mold, Flintshire.— Bow- st., Oct. 30. new shoes ; the property of Mr. Potter, Queen Charlton. If stolen, £ 10 reward will be given for the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders. Information to be given to Superintendent, Emson, Somerset Coustabulary, Temple Cloud, near Bristol.— Bow- street, November 3. Charged with obtaining by false pretences, a Mare, at Wigan Fair, on the - 30th ultimo: a man, about 60 years of age, grey hair, proportionate build, about 5 feet 6 inches high, and small grey whiskers ; dressed in grey mixture Buit, with light mackintosh overcoat, and a billycock hat. He assumed the name of Charles Rodgers, of Sheffield. The mare is an iron grey, nearly half- bred, about 16 hands 2 inches high, rising 5 years old, slight blemish inside coffin joint of near hied leg, bair on rump slightly rubbed off, rather long tail, undocked, and draws the near hind leg up when standing. The above man paid by a spurious banker's cheque, of which the following is a copy : " No. 8371. " Sheffield, October 30th, 1867. " The Sheffield Union Banking Company pay John <: Kinwright, or bearer, the sum of Fifty- seven Pounds Ten " Shillings. " £ 57 : 10 : 0 CHARLES RODGERS." " London Agents- Messrs. Information to be given to Chief Constable Williams, Wigan, Lancashire.— tiow- strest, November 3. The Mare stolen from Newton in Cleveland ( advertised iu the Police Gazette of the 29th September last), has been recovered at Royston, Herts, and the two men described below are charged with stealing the same, tbe mare having been traced to their possession at Great Sheliord on the the 29th September last., where they disposed of it: JOSIAH. JARVIS, alias GINGER JARVIS, alias GINGER BOB, a native of Norwich, Norfolk, where he ia well known, hav- ing been twice sentenced to penal servitude, is from 35 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 11 to 6 feet high, very red hair, ginger coloured whiskers, turns his feet out when walking, stands very erect, and fctout build ; dressed in a brown mixture cloth suit atd brown hard felt hat; and LONG FRED, alias JONEY, alias BIG JOE, from 30 to 35 years of age, 5 feet 10 iiifc'ifts high, dark brown liair cut very short, slight moustache, and imperial, daik eyes and complexion, and pro portionate build. Both are low horse copers, and are well known in the south, of England. Supposed to attend the Repository horse sales at St. Martin's- lane and other places in London. Information to be given to Superintecdent Simpson, Constabulary Office, South Stockton, or to Inspector Holmes, Constabulary Office, Stokesley, North Riding of Yorkshire.— Bow- street, November L Found at Great Gaddesden, Herts, on the 12th ultimo : eight 2 year old Bullocks, five brown and white, and three of red colour. Found straying at Wilton, near Birmingham, on the 10th ultimo, and supposed stolen : a grey Horse, aged, 15 bsxds 3 inches high, camel backed, and in gor. d condition. HOLDINGSWORTH, 21. or 22 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches higb, thin build, fair complexion, light brown hair, haze), eyes, clean shaved, bair cut close behind ; dressed in dark snuff- coloured tweed suit, hard billycock hat, aud of respectable appearance. And JAMES BIRD, alias SMITH, alias TIPCAT, 19 or 20 years of age, 5 feet 1 inch high, dark complexion, round face, stout build, no whiskers or beard, large dark eyebrows, scald or burn mark left aide of face, from temple to cheek ; dressed in dark coat and vest, shephead's plaid trousers, and hard billycock hat. Ihformation to be given to Head Constable Norris, Coventry, Warwick, who holds warrants for their apprehension.—£? w- strcet, October 30. Charged with stealiug a brown Mare, recovered, from Daventry, on the night of toe 26th ultimo : A man known as GINGER JARV1S, about 40 years of age, 5 fe et 8 or 9 inches higb, dark satidy hair, cut short ; dressed in a brown mixture suit. Supposed a native of Norwich. And a man known as LONG FRED, is about 35 years of age, 5 feet 11 iuches high, dark hair, cut short, slight, moustache, and Small imperial, fresh complexion, walks erect, and is very active;. dressed* ia dark clothes, supposed to be well known around the suburbs of Loudon. They were travelling with a woman, about 35 years of ' age, 5 feet 6 inches high, very fresh complexion, dark hair, stoutly built, and fine looking, was wearing a black arid red plaid shawl, they were travelling with a bigh strong spring cart, and represented themselves to be hawking cheese. Information to bs given to Head Constable Foster, Borough kr * as^ gga Police, Daventry, who holds a wariantfor their apprehension. — Bow- street, October 27. Description of a man named JOHN REED, charged with another man, in custody, who gives the name of FRANCIS BALLADINE, with stealing a grey Cob, Harness, and Cart, which he obtained from Mr. William Goulding, livery stable keeper, South- street, Walworth, on the 18th instant, and disposed of in Romford Market the sm; day, and which have since been recovered : Reed is about 26 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, dark hair and moustache, no whiskers, fresh complexion, scar on cheek, supposed the left, and rather weak eyes; dressed in dark frock coat and vest, light trousers, fancy boots, and high silk hat ; he is a brush hawker, and had a pedlar's certificate, granted for the city aud county of Bristol, on 21st Jan,, last, and indorsed for the following places : borough of Birming- ham, 7th April; Gloucestershire, 8th March ; city of Worcester, 17th March; couuty of Warwick, 2Sth April; borough of Leamington, 26th April ; borough of Wolver- hampton, lst May ; borough of Derby, Sth May; Chester. 10th Mav ; county of Lancaster, 18th May ; borough of Bolton, 24th May ; and Dublin Metropolitan Police, 6th July last. Information to be given to Inspector Pepper, Romford, Essex, who holds a warrant for his apprehension. — Bow- street, October 25. The Horses stolen from a field at Wanstead Park, Essex, as advertised in the Police Gazette of tbe 20th utt., have been recovered, and the undermentioned men are charged with stealing tbem : JONEY alias BIG JOE, SO years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, dark brown hair, cut short, slight moustache and impe- rial, dark eyes, stout build, and walks very erect ; dressed in long brown coat and vest, dark trousers, cork hat covered • with alpaca. And GINGER JARVIS, 35 years of age, 6 feet high, fair complexiou, freckled face, short red hair, ginger whiskers, and slouching gait; dressed in dark brown coat and vest, Bedford cord tiousers, lace boots, and felt hat. Both are horse copers, and are charged with other offences. A warrant has been issued for their apprehension. llitan Police, N Division, October 25. Tea Caddy Spoon, fiddle pattern ; a blue Overcoat, velvet collar, green and'felack plaid lining, two rows ( four eacb) black bone butKras,' two outside pockets and one inside left breast; a blue ribbed cloth Coat, mock laps, lined with black twilled calico, two pockets behind, and two cloth buttons on each side ; a pair of green and black plaid woollen Trousers, fly fronts, black stripe down each leg ; and a new Shirt, mixture cotton and wool, blue stripes, hand sewn. By a man who was peen to leave the house wearing the stolen clothes, about 25 years of age, about 5 feet 3 inches higb, stout build, daik complexion, and black moustache, £ 10 reward will be paid to any person who will give such information as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders, and recovery of the property, or in proportion, to the amount recovered. Description of HENRY CHAMBERS MARSHALL, charged on a warrant with larceny ; 40 years of age, 5 feet Stolen on the 21st instant, from lodging at Radford, near Coventry : a tool used in the wateh trade colled a Man- drill, recovered, and a mackintosh Coat; the property of Walter Sheppard. By a young man, a watchmaker, 20 yeara of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, slight build, dark hair, no whiskers, slight moustache, and a watt on right cheek; dressed in black and white plaid coat, dark vest, and " blue twill tiousers, much worn. He is supposed to be a deserter from the army. Information to be given to Acting Super- intendent Frankton, Longford, Warwickshire.— Bow- street, October 25. Charged on a warrant with fraud : JAMES McCAUL STRETCH, late of No. 11, Reedholme- street, South Hornsey, 45 years of age, 5 Let 6 inchea high, red hair, beard, and moustache, stiff built; dresses well, describes himself a3 a 9 inchea higb, fresh complexion, brown eyes, light sandy hair, shipbreaker and metal merchant. Information to be given labourer, a native of Nottingham, last residence at Sowerby Inspector Bailey, City _ of London Police, Detective .. MID m JAMES POWEL, advertised in Police Gazette of tbe 20th ultimo, charged with embezzlement, has been appre- hended, and sentenced to a term of imprisonment— Bow- street, November 3. Absconded on tbe 30th ultimo, from Goldbawk- road, • Shepherd's- bush, embezzling £ 13 4s. 4d.: a man, 40 yeara of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, complexion, hair, and whiskers dark ; dress, black cloth coat, worsted cord trousers, aud black billycock hat.— Metropolitan Police, T Division, Nov. 3. Absconded on the 30th ultimo, from 12, Grange- road, St. Pancras, stealing a picket case of Surgical Instruments : a man, 36 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, complexion and hair dark ; dress, blue frock coat, dark trousirs, and high hat. — Metropolitan Police, Y Division, November 3. Description of a man, charged with stealing a Coat at Burbage, Wiits, on 26th ultimo ( recovered) : middle age, 5 feet 9 inches high, rather slight build, thin long face, light whiskers and moustache ; dressed in a black coat and vest, supposed blue serge trousers, cloth cap with French peak. He stated he was an iron worker, and had been in the army. Will most likely call at engineer's and smith's shppi for work. Information to be given to Inspector Maggs, Wilts Con- stabulary, Pewsey, Wilts.— Fo e- ttreet, November 3. Absconded from Ollbury on tha 11th ultimo, charged with embezzling £ 53 8s. 10d., the money of his employer William C. Hodgetts, timber dealer, Oldbury : SAMUEL ADAMS, a clerk, 21 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark oomplexioc, black hair and moustache. Information to be given to Superintendent Kemp, Halesowen, near Birminbam, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, Nov. 3. Charged with larceny at the residence of Capt. Edward Beville, Old House, Great Horkesley, near Colchester : Private WALTER SMITH, a deserter from the 105th Regiment, quartered at Aldershot, Reg. No. 8 B. A.— 573, 20 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fresh complexion, light brown hair, grey eyes. He was born at Stoke, near Ipswich, he is a groom, and will probably be wearing a suit of grey tweed, a portion of the stolen property, as he left hia uniform at the house. ELIZA MARSHALL, 23 years of age. 5 feet 5 or 6inches high, face pockmarked ; dressed ia black silk dress, black cloth jacket, and black bonnet. She was cook in Captain Seville's service. Both absconded ® n the 25th ultimo, and are supposed to have gone to London. Information to be given to the County Police at Colchester, Essex.— Bow- street, November 3. Description of WILLIAM KEIGHT, charged with stealing from a dwelling- house, where he lodged in Bole Bridge- street, Tamworth, on the 27th ultimo: a pair of corduioy Trousers, nearly new; a pair of light- coloured • woollen Trousers, and a woollen Waistcoat, same material; a brown mixture Coaf., lined with black alpaci ; a plaid calico Shirt; a pair of white cotton Socks; and a black billycock Hat : he is about 23 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, light hair, no whiskers, pale face, rough voice, and occasionally works as a striker and collier ; he has lodged at 62, Dartmoor- street, Birmingham, Warwick- lane, Coventry, and Russell- street, Walsall. Information to be given to Superintendent Bowen, Burton- on- Trent, or to Sergeant Gilbride, Police Office, Tamworth, S affo dshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, November 1. Absconded, charged with stealing from No. 72, Totten- ham- court- road, a quantity of Drapery, recovered : ABSOLOM GEORGE ROGERS, 35 years of age, 5 ft. J inches high, and dark complexion ; dressed, in light cloth overcoat, brown check trousers, and high black hat; he had a pi in gold ring on little fiager of left hand.— Metropolitan Police, E Division, November 1.
