On the night of the 7th instant, tbe dwelling- house of Mr. Blain, 8, Brunswick- square, Penrith, was burglariously entered, and stolen therein : a pair of sugar Tongs and six Tea Spoons, all silver and marked ' A. M. B.;' two plated Tea Spoons ; a pair of plated sugar Tongs ; six plated Table Spoons ; a dozen large dinner Knives and Forks, with rjlacis handles ; a carving Knife and Fork, with black handles; two plated salt Spoons ; a plated mustard Spoon ; a pairs of large Scicsors, one pair recently ground; two skeius of brownish home- spun Wool ; six Antimacassars ; and a scarlet aud green flowered Cover for a small round table. A broad foot print without nail marks, apparently that of a boot or shoe recently soled, with small heel, was discovered in the soil near the window. Information to be given to Super- intendent Fowler, Penrith, or at the County Chief Constables Office, Carlisle, Cumberland.— Bow- straw, October 11. Stolen by means of house- breaking at Monks Hale, Gt, Maplestead, on the night of the 7th instant: a large silver Cruet Stand, boat shape, very old- fashioned, and a silver not been recovered. Information to be given to Inspector Young, Hitchin, Herts.— Bow- ttreet, October 13. Stolen during the night of the 26th ultimo, from a field, at Bostol Common, Abbey Wood : a black Gelding, cob built, large head, and white patch uuder mane, iu good conditioa. — Metropolitan Police, R Division, October 11. Found at Bury, on the 23rd ultimo : a red and white Cow, about 3 years old, has three hair cut marks on left side of rump. It was in possession of a man who made his escape, about 43 years of age, about 5 feet 3' iuches high,, swarthy complexion, brown moustache, slight whiskers, snipe nose, ami hare lip ; dressed in dark cloth clothes, hard billy- cock bat, and shoes. County Police Office, Bury, Lancashire.— Bow- street, October 11. - Bow- street, Mustard Pot, crest— a lion ; two bigh Candle Sticks, a bed- room ditto, a Toast Rack, four Egg Gups, aud a small square Early on the morning of the 9th instant, the dead body fish Cruet Stand, all plated ; and a bottle of Sherry. The body was warm, aud had a piece of tape tied tightly round the neck, and was wrapped in a copy of the ' Standard' news- paper of the 29th ultimo. Description of two men charged with the offence : one is from 35 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches to 6 feet high, very red hair, and ginger colour whiskers, turns his feet out, and stauds very erect; dressed in a brown mixture cloth coat, vest, and trousers, aud brown hard felt hat ; he has the appearance of a horse dealer ; the other from 30 to 35 years of age, 5 ft. 10 ins. high, dark brown hair cut very short, slight moustache and imperial, dark eyes, and proportionate build, walks very erect ; dressed in a dark blue cloth coat, with raised seams, dark cloth vest and trousers, and alpaca hat with button on top. Tnese men were travelling with a woman 35 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches higb, dark complexion, black hair turned up at the front, aud very stoutly built. They were at Great Shelford, * j Cambridgeshire, ou the 29th ultimo, and there disposed of ' two stolen Horses, which have since been recovered. They travel in a high dog cart, and represent themselves to be cheese hawkers. They are supposed to belong to the neigh- bourhood of Shepherd's- busb, Hammersmith, Load on. In- formation to be given to Superiutendent Simpson, South, Stockton, or to Inspector Holmes, Constabulary Office, Stokesley, North Riding, Yorkshire.— Bow- tt., October 11. accomplice, not being the actual murderer, who shall give such evidence as shall lead to a like result. Information to fee given to the Chief Constable of Berkshire, Reading, or to Superintendent Bennett, Newbury.— Bow- sireet, Oc: ober 16. FORGERY. A man who gave the name of JAMES KEMP, and about 10 years old, 13 hands high, ' W. R.' branded oa back, stated that he resided at. London, and was the son of Charles and a light spring Cart, painted dark green, lined light Kemp, of Aldringham, innkeeper, on the 12th instant, green, off shaft broken aud repaired with seven screws, cap presented a cheque for £ 52 6s. 6d., purporting to be drawn of near wheel split, solid panels, • W. Gotts, 1, George- lane, on the Halesworth Bank, and signed by Thomas Barnes, of Lewisham' on shafts.— Metropolitan Police, P Division, Snape, at the Aldeburgh Branch of the said bank, and October 16. received the amount. No. 6387: he is about 30 years of age, dark bair, little whiskers, aud about 5 feet 4 luches high ; dressed in black coat, with braid, much worn, black velvet waistcoat, dark trousers, thick boots, and black billycock hat. Information to be given to Police Constable Hammond, Aldeburgh, Suffolk.— Bow- street, October 16. Description ot EDWARD SMITH, a builder's clerk, who absconded from Birmingham, charged with forging and uttering a Cheque, on the 18th ultimo : about 28 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 ins. high, dark hair, whiskers, and moustache, slight build, large lull eyes, has a cast in one of them, large feet, a slight deformity in one, speaks with a Scotch or Northern dialect. He is supposed to bave been previously employed in Sheffield, ia some builder's yard. Information to be given to Chief Superiutendent Bond, Birmingham, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Borw- street, October 13. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING Sometime between 1 and 7 a. m., on the 8th instant, the ' Yine' hotel, at Stafford, was entered and stolen therefrom, e one Sovereign ; about 18s. in Silver, and 5s. or 6s. iu bronz: Coins ; 9s. worth of postage Stamps ; a double breasted drab Coat, with pockets on hips, one ticket pocket on right side and two inside breast pockets ; a briar root Pipe, with amber mouth- piece. Stolen from the workshop and offices of Mr. Blount Thomas, optician, &?., of Canute- road, Southampton, on the llth instaut, by breaking aud entering the same : 1 silver hunting lever Watch, Barrett, No. 21171. 1 silver huntiDg lever Case only, ' No. 31189' on case. 1 silver lever Watch, Brier, No. 2549. 1 silver hunting Geneva lever ditto, No. 1516. 1 silver keyless horizontal ditto, plate glass front and baek, a photograph of a gentleman at back. 1 gold hunting Watch Case only, presented 1872, ' No. 9552' inside case. 1 silver lever Watch, Harrison, 4007, Pullet, all about, half grown.- Information to be given to Superintendent Wiltshire, Police Office, Chippenham, Wilts — Bow- street, October 13. Furthei information respecting the Mare stolen from Daventry, the property of Mr. . Jeremiah Oram*, and advertised in tbe Police Gazette of the 29th ultimo. The mare has been recovered, and a man is iu custody charged with stealing the same. Another man aud his wife, before described, are still at large. The man is a hawker of cheese, soap, & c., and is supposed to be in the neighbourhood of Wolverhampton, or tbe Potteries. He is about 37 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches high, dark hair, fresh ruddy complexion, clean shaved, aud stout build. Stolen from a stable on the night, of the 9t'* i iustant, from Mr. John Borroughs, of Jack field, Salop : a piebald Mare, 15 bands high, 8 years old, three paits bred, and small feet. By a man about 35 yerrs of age, light, brown hair, rather large whiskers and moustache ; dressed iu brown coat, and billycock hat. Information to bs giveu to Superinten- dent Christie, Bridgnorth, or to Sergeant Thomas, Much Wenlock, Salop.— Bww- street, October 13. Stolen on the night of the 21st ultimo, from a field on Llandwaud Farm, parish of Glenmorten, near Newport, Monmouth, the property of Mr, Richard Waters : a Hackney Mare, 6 years old, 15 hands higb, colour bright bay, iu good condition, a small white spot on forehead, a few white hairs on one hind foot,, and a large lump under breast, nearly between the fore legs. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Abergavenny ; to Superintendent, McIntosh, Monmouthshire Constabulary, Pontypool; or to Inspector Sheppard, County Constabulary, Newport, Mon- mouthshire..— Bow- street, October 13. On the 2nd instant, a bay Mare, 5 years old, 15 hands high, and in good condition, broke away from the owner, Rtelaard Keff, at Baldock, and was afterwords stolen and taken to London by a low horse dea'er, now ia custody, and remauded at the Hitchin Petty Sessions till the 17tb, named TOM WILLIAMS, alias GATES, 35 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, light bair and whiskers, cut short, round face ; dressed ia dark clothes, tliirk lace- up bocts> The hews has and said he was a joiner ; dressed in a grey cloth cap with drooping peak of same material, dark cl-, th coat, no vest or stockings, and belongs to the county of Norfolk. Information to be given to Superintendent. Sowden, Gainsborough, Lin- colnshire.— liow- stveet, October 16. Absconded on the lst instant,, from Rathbone- place, embezzling £ 150 : a man, 50 years of age, 5 feet 5^ inches high, fair, wears a brown vt i j, and of respectable appearance. — Metropolitan Police, E Division, Octo'er 16. Stolen on tbe morning of the 9th instant: a silver verge Watcb, No. 30L5, the property of Henry Warman, of Chapel- street, West Bromwich. By a man, a lodger, about 25 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, slender build, thin feature, rather dark complexion, full eyes, moustache, and no whiskers; dressed in short blue jacket, much worn, pockets on hips, moleskin trousers and vest,, light dr. ib socks, soft billycock hat, blue striped cotton shirt, low shoes, and wear3 a strap. Information to be given at the Police Office, West Bromwich, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, October 16 Stolen from Dartford on the 5th instant, a light Cart, with the seat painted blue. By SEAMAN BREEDS, who is from 24 to 28 years of aga, 5 feet 6 inches bigh, with dark hair and whiskers ; dressed ia a drab jacket with white bone buttons, cord trousers, aDd black round hat; he is a gipsy, attends fairs, & c., with cocoa nuts, aud generally sleeps uuder a tent. Has with him au old cart and b'owu horse. His wife travels with him, who has black wavy hair, is a hawker, aud carries a. basket. Information to be given to Superinten- dent Fread, Kent Constabulary, Dartford.— Bow- st.. Oct. 16. Stolen from Crockenhill on the night of the llth iustaut: two white and oue grey and white Ducks, and two very dark Drakes, with rings rouud their necks, about three parta grown. By a m'au, a basktt maker, 22 years of age, 6 feet 11 inches high, light hair cut very short, small light mous- tache, whiskers shaved off, and walks very erect; dressed in a dark mixture cloth jacket, light cord trousers, aud cap with peak ; he is a deserter from the army. He went in tho direction of Bexley, where he is supposed to have disposed « f the ducks. Information to be giveu to Superintendent Fread, Kent Constabulary, Dartford.- r- llm- street, Oct. 16. Absconded from Hanley, charged with stealing on the 9th instant, an Overcoat, recovered : a woman, about 35 years of age, 5 feet 1 inch high, fresh complexion ; dressed in old. black bonnet, faded red shawl, and old alpaca gown. She is travelling with a man, who hao lost his right arm, about 40 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, dark whiskers, sings comic songs, arid performs with a stick. Information to be giveu to Chief Constable Windle, Police Office, Hanley, Staffordshire. - Bow- street, October 16. Stolen on the 9th instant, from tie fisherman's Arms beer- house, Eastbourne, the property of Henry Wilmot and Richard Harrison: two cotton Shirts, one with blue and by her brother in law, JAMES HULSE, who is charged possession two £ 50 Bank of England Notes, and about £ 16 white stripes, the blue stripe wider thau the white one, the other a twill check patte. ru ; and a red Wrapper, with white spots. By a man 22 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 iuches high, fresh complexion, light brown hair, slight moustache, whiskers Bhaved off; he said he was an engraver, but had the appearance of a shoemaker ; dressed iu a dark double- with aiding and abetting in the same robbery : about 21 years in Gold ; dreessd in a grey suit, black topioat, and hard of age, 5 feet. 6 or 7 iuches high, light complexion, light brown I black felt hat; lie was seen in Gateshead on the 21st ultimo, hair wears it long, small sunken grey eyes, has a slight turn j It is feared some ill has befallen birn Information to be in left eye, rather long thin features, has small thin light brown whiskers, all rouud face, has a downcast look, propor- tionately built; dressed in light moleskin trousers, double brea ted'cutaway coat, dark trousers and vest, black bowler breasted vest, same material, white linen slop, with pockets crown hat, and lace- up boots, nearly new, with the tops much cut about. Also stolen on the 10th instant, from the front hall at 30, Gildridge- road, Eastbourne, the property of George Fisher : a dark blue witney clotb Overcoat, with velvet collar, nearly new, has pockets at sides, and one iuside left breast. By a man, 24 years of age, 5 feet 2 or 3 inches higb, fair complexion, light brown bair, slight moustache, no whiskers, front teeth project; he is an engraver, and is supposed to belong to Lancashire; dressed in a long dark coat, dark trousers, black alpine bat, boots much worn. Information to be given to Superintendent Newnham, East- bourne, Sussex. — How- ttreet, October 16. Stolen on the 12th instant, from the yard of the ' George Hotel,' in tbe city of Lichfield : a double- bieasted blue cloth Overcoat, dark liuings, dark bone buttons, has two pockets outside with flaps, a small ticket pocket and inside left breast ditto, and a bard black billycock Hat, nearly new. By a tramping stableman, about 21 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches higb, rather stout, full face, dark hair, no whiskers or moustache, large grey eyes, sore ou under lip, and bow- legged ; dressed in dark coat, grey plaid trousers, —' l' narrow ligbt stripe, aid a patch on one knee. - Swansea, and other parts of South Wales. Absconded on the 5th instant from Elmswell, Suffolk, charged with stealing 6 J pecks of Beans; the property of Mr. Robt. Durrant: ALFRED LORD, 30 years of age, 5 ft. 8- it inches high, fresh complexion, grey eyes, sandy hair, whiskers and moustaehe, two large scars iu palm of lett hand, mole on calf or lett leg, scar on top of head, and the tips of three lingers of the left hand injured ; dressed in blaek cloth coat and vest, ligbt brown trousers, and side- spring boots with buttons in front. He is under police supervision, and was discharged from Portland Prison on llth July last, mation to be given to Superintendent Durrant, Ixworth, or to Inspector Vail, Woolpit, Suffolk, who holds a warrant for bis apprehension.— Bow- street, October 16. at sides, soft billycock bat, aud fancy lace- up clogs. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Satton, Constabulary Office, Nantwich, Cheshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, October 11. Description of RICHARD WOODS, bricksetter, late of Tattenhall, who absconded on the 3rd instant, charged with larceny: he is 21 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, light complexion, light brown hair, slight moustache, aud slender build ; dressed in white jacket, corduroy trousers, elastic- side boots, and blaek billycock hat. Information to be given to Superintendent Wilson, Constabulary Station, Tattenhall, Cheshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, October 11. FELONIES. ( Not otherwise described), A warrant has been issued for the apprehension of JOHN MEAD, a coach builder, of Aylesbury, who is charged with assaulting a female, on the 7th iustant: he is 26 years with ! of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, fresh complexion, daik hair and He talks of eyes, and small moustache ; dressed in light coloured woollen Information to plaid suit, blue cloth ulster coat, and soft felt hat; he has recently been seen at, Euston Station, and in the neighbour- hood of Oxford- street, London. Information to be giveu to Superintendent Denson, Aylesbury, Bucks. — Bow- street, October 16. Obtained on the 9 th instant, by means o? a false cheque, £ 5 10s. by a girl, 18 years of age, 6 feet higb, dark; dressed in blaek silk dress, blue pilot jacket, aud black Infor- boUnet.— Metropolitan Police, E Division, October 16. Description of a man who gave the name of JOHN YARWOOD, charged on a warrant with obtaining by false pretences £ 3, the property of the Droitwich Salt Company, Stolen on the 3rd instaut, from the dwelling- house of on the 22nd June last : about45 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches Wellington- street, 1 or 6 feet hlSh> cleau shaved, dark hair, turning grey, of Robert Arthur Calvesbert, situate iu given to Chief Constable Elliott, Gateshead, Durham.— Bow- street, October 16. Committed for trial at, the quarter sessions at Warwick, on the 17th instant, charged with larceny: GEORGE TACKERBARRY, 26 years of age, 5 feet iuches high, dark brown bair, bazel eyes, and says he is a native of Montreal, Canada. He states that he is a glass blower, and has worked iu Birmingham, Worcester, Gloucester, Cardiff, Derby, and Leicester. He has been travelling with a woman, about 25 years of age, black hair, fresh complexion, dark eyes, and about 5 feet 2 inches high. Information to be given to Superintendent Austin, Nuneaton, Warwickshire. — Bow- street, October 16. Committed for trial at the Quarter Sessions, to be holden at Wrexham, on the 19th and 20th instant, charged with housebreaking at Llanbrillo yn rhos, on 10th instant : a tramp giving his name ALLEN MOWBRAY, 23 or24 years of age' 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, dark complexion, black keen eyes, dark moustache, and whiskers shaved off; dressed in dark coat and trousers, no vest, black cap, and good lace- up boots with brass eyelet holes. He is supposed to be tbe same person who made his escape from tbe custody of the police on the 30th ultimo wbile being conveyed from New Radnor to Colwyn, charged witb housebreaking and then giving his name as THOMAS INSLEY : in his possession was found a gold Pencil - case, a handsome Brooch, and several faucy glass Buttons with gold edges, and a silver Thimble, information to be given to Superintendent Hammonds, Constabulary Office, Llaurwst, North Wales.— Bow- street, October 16. Absconded from Stoke Farm Reformatory on the 13th instant: THOMAS HARBORN, 16 years of age, 4 ft. 9 ins. high, fresh complexion, brown hair, dark brown eyes, mark of cut on left arm ; dressed in drab cold trousers and vest striped calico shut fur cap, strong riveited boots, aud is a native of Balsall Heath, Birmingham. £ 1 reward will be paid for his apprehension. Information to be given to Super- intendent Tyler, Bromsgrove, Worcestershire.— Bow- meet. October 16. Fuither information respecting JOSEPH WILLIAM READING, who escaped from custody at Biggleswade Bedfordshire, on the 28th ultimo : he has won several cups at the Hackney Wick, and Lilly Bridge racing grounds.
