The dead Body of a male child, apparently from 9 to 12 months old, the arms and legs having been cut off, was iound in the water closet of the third class waiting- room of the Manchester, Sheffield, and Lincolnshire Railway Station, at Sheffield, about 8 20 p. m. on the 14th August: wrapped in part of a child's skirt, woollen and cotton material, red and drab check pattern, and two pieces of an old slate coloured ribbed silk petticoat, quilted, and lined with thin calico. At the Coroner's Inquest a verdict of ' Wilful Murder against some person or persons unknown' was found. Her Majesty's Government ofier a reward of £ 50 to any person who will give such information and evidence as shall lead to the discovery and conviction of the murderer or murderers. And Mr. Secretary Cross will advise the grant of Her Majesty's gracious pardon to any accomplice, not. being the actual murderer, who shall give such evidence as shall lead to a like result. Stolen by means of house- breaking, at Whittlesey, on the 2nd instant, the property of James Marriot : 3 unbleached calico Shirts, lined at the top, deep collars, • with round corners, one is nearly new, and one has been mended behind, near the collar, each shirt has a broad plait down the front, the top of which buttons on to the collar, at the buttom of the plait is some stitching forming two rows of squares. 1 flannel Shirt, with short sleeves. 4 cotton Pocket- handkerchies, colours, red, yellow, & c., two of them are larger than the others. 2 long diaper Towels, with fringe, and a dark red stripe at each end. 2 white calico Pillow- cases. 1 old white Petticoat, with four tucks at bottom. 1 pair of mens' light blue worsted Stockings, which have been darned. 1 pair of mens' unbleached cotton Stockings, and several pairs of womens' and girls' white cotton ditto. Also some cooked Meat and Bread. Two men, tramps, were seen loitering near the house, and are suspected. They are described as being from 20 to 30 years of age, about 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, thin features, and j very little if any whiskers; dressed shabbily, and both are supposed to have had blue cloth or serge coats. Information to be given to Inspector Burrows, Whittlesey, Isle of Ely, Cambridgeshire.— Bow- street, October 6. Description of a German hair dresser who absconded from the 1 Fox and Grapes ' beerhouse, Longton, on the 25th ultimo, charged with breaking out of that house and stealing an Opera Glass, a grey tweed Coat, a black cloth ditto, and £ 2 5s. : he is about 45 years of age, 5 ft. 5 or 6 ins. high, grey hair and moustache, no whiskers, and tuft of hair on chin; dressed in dark ribbed cloth coat, pockets on hips, three buttons on each culf, dark double- breasted vest, two buttons off, dark striped trousers, blue and white necktie, and side- spring boots with buttons. He has worked in London, Liverpool, Manchester, Ashton- under- Line, Newcastle- on- Tyne, " and Wolverhampton. Information to be given to Superintendent McWilliams, Police Station, Longton, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, October 2. During the night of the 25th instant, a house in the borough of Hull was burglariously entered, and the following property stolen therein : a Teapot, a Coffee Pot, a Sugar Basin, a cream Jug, all silver and marked ' S.'; an old- fashioned silver Teapot; a silver Mustard Pot; 3 silver Salt Spoons, one marked ' M. C.,' two ' S.'; a brown mixture cloth Top Coat, quilted inside, velvet collar; a light drab cloth Top Coat, lined with silk, velvet collar, the right skirt torn and neatly sewn up ; a pair of gentleman's lace Boots, with brass eyelet holes, and brass hooks at top ; a Hat, and a brown silk Umbrella. ,£ 20 reward will be paid to any person who will give such information as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders, and in recovery o£ the property, or in proportion thereof. Supposed stolen from Everingham Carr, since the 21st ultimo : a 2- year old roan Heifer, red about neck, rather more than half gone in calf, in good condition, and has a crooked horn ; the property of Coulson Elly, of Sutton- on- Derwent. Information to be given to Inspector Wood Police Station, Market Weighton, East Yorkshire. Bow- street, October 4. Supposed stolen from a field at Wrickton, during the night of the 25th ultimo : a red Heifer, with white face, the property Mr. Heynes, of Wrickton. Information to be given to Superintendent Christie, County Police Office, Bridg- north, or to Police Constable Hughes, Dittoa Priora, Salop. — Bovf- street, October 4, Stolen from a field at Sparrowmire, Kendal, during the night of the 28th ultimo : a black Mare, 3 years old, 16 hands high, white feet, white star on forehead, mark on near side nostril, and rather long tail. Information to be given to Chief Constable Wilkinson, Borough Police Office, Kendal, Westmoreland.— Bow- street, October 2. Stolen from a field, at Aldridge, during the night of the 26th ultimo, the propeity of Mr. Charles Hawley, of Walsall: a brown Horse, with black points, 14J hands high, aged, and nearly thorough bred. A reward of £ 5 will be given to any person giving such information as will lead to the conviction of the offender or offenders. Information to be given to Sergeant Arnold, Rushall, Walsall, Staffordshire,— Bow- st., October 2. Stolen during the night of the 25th ultimo, from a field near the ' royal Oak' public- house, Finchley- road, Hendon : a dark bay mare, aged, 14| hands high, a few grey hairs on hind legs, switch tail, and in good condition. Supposed by a man, 25 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high ; dressed in long brown livery coat, and round black felt hat. He has a relative residing at Hendon.— Metropolitan Police, S Division, October 2. Stolen from a livery stable at Brighton, on the 25th instant : a brown Mare, about 14 hands 2 inches high, in good condition, has two chipped knees, a crupper mark, one white bind fetlock, and a long dock tail, recently cut. The mare was hired by a man, who gave the name of WILLIAMSON, 1 address ascertained to be false, he is about 20 ye^ rs of age, about 5 feet 6 inches high, no whiskers or moustache, dark brown hair, fair complexion ; dressed in a black frock coat, light check trousers, black high hat, and is of gentlemanly appearence, and carried a bamboo cane; he ntver returned with the mare. Information to be given to Chief Constable White, Brighton, Sussex— Bow- street, September 29. Stolen during the night of the 22ad instant, from a field at Newton- in- Cleveland : a Cleveland bay Mars, 7 years old, 15 hands 2 inches high, tail cut square, a little white on off hind fetlock, a small lump on near shoulder through being worked, crooked hind leg3, and in good condition. Information to be given to Superintendent Simpson, Con- stabuluary Office, South Stockton, or to Inspector Holmes, Constabulary Office, Stokesley, N. R. Yorkshire.'— Bow- street, September 27. Stolen on the 2nd instant, from a vessel lying in the Ipswich Dock : a pair of spring- side Boots, recovered, also a dark cloth Waistcoat, with blue stripes, large size ; the property oE William Coward. Also a bin; pilot cloth Waist- coat, full size, has been worn ; the propeit/ of Thomas Downs, seaman, on board the said vessel. By a man, about 19 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, dark complexion, slight moustache ; dressed in blue serge Jacket, old blue cloth coat, dark cord trousers, and old dark coloured cap, was engaged as seaman on board the said ship from Liverpool to Ipswich. Information to be given to Head Constable Mason, Police Office, Town Hall, Ipswich.— Bow- strett, October 6. Charged with stealing from a lodging house at Market Rasen, at 5 a. m. on the 4th instant: a plum- coloured cloth Coat, with five pockets outside, and two inside ; a pair of lavender cloth Trousers, nearly new; a pepper and salt cloth Hat; a pair of militia Socks ; a magenta silk Neckerchief, rather greasy ; a black pilot cloth Jacket, black velvet collar, bound with black braid, torn near the collar on left side, lining torn in centre of back ; a pair of strong lace- up Boots,; a Hslf- Sovereign, ana 9s. 6d. Silver : a tramp, about 24 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, ginger whiskers and mous- tache, has a boil on chin. He is supposed to be wearing the stolen clothes. Information to be given to Superintendent Henson, Market Rasen, Lincolnshire,— Bw- itreet, October 6, Absconded on the 20th ultimo, charged with larceny at Terrington St. Clement : GEORGE MASTERS, alias DUCKEY, native of Grimston, Norfolk, a labourer, 27 years of age, 5 feet 3J inches high, brown eyes, hair, and whiskers, swarthy complexion, and o£ dirty appearance ; dressed in dark coat or jacket, beaverteen trousers, and chummy hat, all much worn an< J dirty. Information to be given to Superintendent Carter, Terrington, King's Lynn, Norfolk, who holds a warrant for his apprehension,— Bow- ttreei, October 6. Further information respecting the man named JOHN HOLDERNESS, alias JNO. ALLEN, alias GIPSY JACK, a poacher, who is charged with stealing seven Fowls from the premises of Mr. Samuel Campain, at Whaplode Marsh ( as advertised in the Police Gazette of the 25th ultimo): he is about 35 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, stoutly built, dark complexion, hair, and whiskers ( round the chin), and has on right side of head a white patch of hair about the size of a crown- piece ; dressed in an old blue pilot cloth jacket, with pockets at sides, cord trousers, fustian vest, red and white muffler tied in a knot in front, and blue cloth cap with peak. He has been several times conuicted of various offences in Lincolnshire, and has been twice in Ipswich Gaol for felony ; he occasionally works at thrashing machines, and was traced to Horncastle on the 19th ultimo. Two guineas reward will be paid by the Spalding Association for the Prosecution of Felons for his apprehension. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Sanson, Litchurch, Derbyshire. — . bow- street, October 4. Description of JAMES BRICE, by trade a miner, about ? for 27 years of age, about 5 feet 8 inches high, proportion- i ( made, walks erect, no whiskers or moustache, Roman jose, and has lost his front teeth; be absconded on the 25th ultimo, and was dressed iu a suit of plaid clothes. He generally attends races, fairs, and wakes, for the purposes of gambling with dice, or coc- a nut throwing. He is supposed to have gone to Stone Clift, Derbyshire, where he has a brother named William Brice, residing. A warrant has been issued charging him with stealing on the 25th ultimo, from a railway guards van, at Wolverhampton, SOlbs. weight of Tea, and a large tin Box, value £ 7 10s. Stolen from a dwelling- house, at Middlesborougb, on the 30th ult. : a silver lever Watch, No. 1652, capped, white dial • with black chapters, and plain gold hands, information to be given to Chief Constable Saggerson, Borough Police Station, Middlesborough, Yorkshire.— Bow- itreet, October 4. Absconded on the 28th ultimo, from 87, Mile End- road, embezzling £ 6 4s. : a man, 22 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, fair complexion, hair, and slight moustache, grey eyes; dressed in black frock coat, pockets on hips, dark tweed trousers and vest, black cloth cap, with peak, and is a porter. — Metropolitan Police, K Division, October 4, Absconded on the 17th ultimo, from Wadhurst, Sussex, charged with stealing 25s., the monies of his master : HENRY WHITMARSH, about 36 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, swarthy complexion, brown hair, whiskers meeting under chin, rather stout figure, large scar on cheek, and one between the eyes ; dressed in brown slop, cord trousers, billycock hat, and heavy half boots. Supposed to be a native of Wilts, and is a labourer. Information to be given to Superintendent Peerless, Uckfield, Sussex, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, October 2. Absconded on the 1st August last, a man ( who obtained a situation as a shopman at a London pawnbroker's by mis- representation, and absconded the following day) charged with stealing sixteen gold Watches ( fourteen Geneva, one English lever, Dublin make, one keyless, plain cases, with monogram); three silver Watches ( a Chatelaine, crystal frout and back, and two Genevas); twelve gold Chains ( three Neckchains, one broken, one 18- carat, weight over 3ozs., three Alberts, one Victoria, five various ( one with guinea, pencil- case, two coins, aud vinaigrette attached) ; three Bracelets ( one turquoise, damaged, two gold ( one wicker band pattern, set with green stones) ; four Lockets, three gold ( one diamond shape, with sardonyx centre), one large, set with pink coral, pearls and diamonds in shape of a star or cross, one large carbuncle, brilliant fly in ceutre; four Solitaires, two cord, two g" Id, with monogram' EP' or ' NP' in diamonds; four pairs gold Earrings, one long, two filigree ( one anchor shape), one brilliant tops ; ten Rings, one brilliant, ruby, and sapphire triplet, one brilliant ( egg- shape pearl in centre, and stone deficient), one large single- stone brilliant; two brilliant Marquise ( one about twenty stones, one with a yellow stone in centre), five gold ( one snake, diamond eyes, two fancy, one keeper, set with ruby and two brilliants); a brilliant Pendant, stones of very choice quality ; a pink coral IS ecklace, fine colour; a gold Seal and Whistle ; and a brilliant Hair Pin, six or seven stones in shape of a fly. He is 30 years of age, about 5 feet 4 inches high, rather florid complexion, brown hair and moustache, whiskers ( supposed) shaved off, small ears, and medium build. A reward of £ 25 will be p dd on his appre- hension, a further reward of £ 25 on conviction, and £ 200 on recovery of the property, or in proportion to the amount recovered, to any person who shall give such information as will lead to above results. Stolen during the night of the 25th instant, from a stable at Compton Basset, the property of Thomas Taylor : a soldier's great Coat, No. 93, with brass buttons, and has been mended in several places ; and a cord Jacket, with pockets at the sides, about half- worn. Supposed tij a man, who has been a soldier, and has been working on the farm harvesting. He is about 34 years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, fair complexiou, sandy hair and whiskers, and clean shaved ; dressed in a black hat, and white slop. Infor- mation to be given to Inspector Millard, Calne, Wilts.— Bow- street, September 29. Stolen between 2 and 3 a. m. on the 27th instant, the property of Thomas Kirk, at Hailsham : a pair of men's new lace- up calf leather Bcots, an old black monkey Jacket, a pair of nearly new small check Trousers, an old black double- breasted Vest, a brown double- breasted Coat, bound with braid and split under the armpits ; and a new black round crown hard felt Hit. By au Irishman, about 30 years of age, about 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, dark complexion, ecar cn one cheek, dark brown hair, no whiskers, very stout figure, round full face ; dressed in the stolen clothes. He is a tramping stableman, ba3 served in the Army, and has the letter ' D.' on one side. He has been employed in the stables at Hailsham, and he frequents stable yards for the purpose of getting employment at washing carriages, & c., and when on tramp he is in the habit of sleeping in the casual wards. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Lewes, to Super- intendent Waghorn, Hailsham, or at any Police Station in the East Sussex Constabulary.— Bow- street September 29. Stolen on 25th instant, from the Blue Anchor public- house, Dock- street, Whitechapel: a gold Locket, set with opals and diamonds, two doves on one side, portrait of a gentleman the other, gold cable- pattern Chain attached; a pair of gold Earrings, set with turquoise ; 3 gold Rings, one set with diamonds, one with two diamonds and an emerald, one mourning ' In Memory of'; 2 gold Watches, one lady's Geneva, one lever ( glass broken) , and a pair of gold Solitaires, monogram ' B. H.' on front, ' 1855' on back. By a potman, 24 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, dark complexion, thin features, black hair, small black moustache ; dressed in black ribbed trousers, Crimean shirt, and side- spring boots.— Metropolitan Police, H Division, S- pt. 29. LEGS, 19 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, light complexion, brow a eyes, dark brown hair, and of medium build ; dressed in a light coat and vest, cord trousers, black bowler hat, and new lace- up boots. He is a baker, and a native of Dorchester, Dorset, and will probably attempt to enlist as a soldier. Information to be given to Superintendent Vickery, Police Office, Weymouth, Dorsetshire, who will pay all necessary expenses on his apprehension.— Bow- street, October 2. F1AUBS AMB AGGRAVATED MISDEMEANOURS. Absconded from Bridgnorth, on the 21st instant: a travelling watch and clock cleaner, charged with larceny as bailee of a small silver Geneva Watch, with silver- coloured face, marked with a dark spot near the figures 4 or 5, the guard consisted of a black binding ribbon. He is 60 years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, pale face, grey whiskers; dressed in a long black frock coat, gone brown from wear, and trousers of nearly the same material, low shoes, hard felt hat. He walks veTy erect, and stated he came from Epsom. Information to be given to Head Constable Cole, Bridgnorth, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow street, September 27. FEIiOMXES, ( Not otherwise described). Absconded, charged on a warrant with bestiality at Weymouth on the evening of the 29th ultimo; GEORGE XNFORMATICKMTB. Committed for trial at the next Worcester Sessions, charged with stealing a Hoxse, recovered, from a field at Belbroughton, on the 27th ultimo : JOHN THOMPSON, name supposed fictitious, he is about 66 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, flushed face, brown hair, grey eyes, fourth finger of left hand crooked, an enlargement of left leg, near the foot. States he is fitter by trade, and a native Dewsbury, Yorkshire, he appears to be of drunken babits. Information to be given to Superintendent Freeman, Stour- bridge, Worcestershire.— Bow- itreet, October 6. She was convicted at Leeds Assizes on the 30th Nov., 1870, and sen- tenced to 7 years penal servitude for robbery. She has been seen at Aberdare and Swansea.
