No, 5888 WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 4, 1876. — It ia requested that all communications lor the purpose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolen property, may bear ( the Stgsa& trare of the person requiring or tending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to the Editor, Police Court, Bow Street, London, W. O. %• Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, •> the Offenco charged, and an attested copy thereef, together with the advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the FOLIOS GAZETTE, all betters addressed to the Editor moiil be prepaid., otherwise tha insertion will not be made. The Names and Descriptions of Deserters from the Army, and of Absentees and Deserters from the Militia, should be forwarded on War Office Forms 88 and 88A, to the Editor, as above, for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE. INFORMATIONS. AMD WOUNDING. The dead Body of a male child, apparently from 9 to 12 months old, the aims and legs having been cut off, was found in the water closet of the third class waiting- room of the Manchester, Sheffield, and Lincolnshire Railway Station, at Sheffield, about 8 20 p. m. on the 14th August: wrapped in part of a child's skirt, woollen and cotton material, red and drab check pattern, and two pieces of an old slate coloured ribbed silk petticoat, quilted, and lined with thin calico. At the Coroner's Inquest a verdict of ' Wilful Murder against some person or persons unknown' was found. Her Majesty's Government offer a reward of £ 50 to any person who will give such information and evidence a3 shall lead to the discovery and conviction of the murderer or murderers. And Mr. Secretary Cross will advise the grant of Her Majesty's gracious pardon to any accomplice, not being the actual murderer, who shall give such evidence as shall lead to a like result. On the 2nd instant, the dead body of a newly- born female Child, fully developed, was found iu Footwood at Rochdale, and on the 2lst a verdict of ' Wilful Murder against some person or persons unknown' wa3 returned by the coroner's jury. The body was wrapped in brown paper, covered with a small twilled calico sheet, marked ' C. M.,' aud a much- worn striped cotton skirt, bound with black worsted braid. Stolen from the person on the 24th instant, at Preston : a silver Geneva Watch, No. 51955. During the night of the 20th inst., a dwelling- house, in Lichfield was broken and entered, and the following property stolen therein : a long rough dark grey cloth ulster Overcoat, with band lound middle pocket on one sleeve, small check cloth linings, pattern black and white ; and about 4s. £ 2 reward will be given for the recovery of the property, and conviction of the offender or offenders. Also stolen during the Bame night, from a hedge near Newtown, a plaid flannel Shirt, a small striped flannel Shirt, and a white flannel Under Shirt, all men's size ; the property of W. Worthington. Supposed by a man, 25 years of ago, 5 feet 9 inehes high ; dressed in long brown livery coat, and round black felt hat. Supposed\ by a man, about 40 years of age, about 5 feet 8 or 9 inches higb, sandy whiskers ( turning grey), stout build ; dressed in a dark jacket and trousers, old jim crow hat or cap, and clogs. Stolen from a livery stable at Brighton, on the 25th instant: a brown Mare, about 14 hands 2 inches high, in good condition, has two chipped knees, a crupper m;. rk, one white hind fetlock, ond a long dock tail, recently cut. The mare was hired by a mm, who gave the name of WILLIAMSON, and an address ascertained to be false, he is about 20 years of sge, about 5 feet 6 inches high, no whiskers or moustache, dark brown hair, fair complexion ; dressed iu a black frock coat, light check trousers, black high hat, and is of gentlemanly appearence, and carried a bamboo cane ; he never returned with the mare. Stolen during the night of the 22ad instant, from a field at Newton- in- Cleveland : a Cleveland bay Mare, 7 years old, 15 hands 2 inches high, tail cut square, a little white on off hind fetlock, a small lump on near shoulder through beingyW* rKed, crooked hind legs, and in good condition. Stolen on the evening of the 1st instant, from the house of Joseph Porter, in Spondon : a double cased German silver Watcb, No. 134, has the glass loose, and a piece chipped off' the dial, also several shoemaker's tools, viz;, Knife, Awls, Rasps. Irons, & c. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Coustable Sanson, Litchurch, Derbyshire. — Bow- ttreet October 4. Description of JAMES BRICE, by trade a miner, about 26 or 27 years of age, about 5 feet 8 inches high, proportion- ately made, walks erect, no wh'skers or moustache, Roman nose, aud has lost his front teeth ; he absconded on the 2Gt. h ultimo, and was dressed in a suit of pla'd clothes. He generally attends races, fairs, apd wakes, for the purposes of gambling with dice, or cocoa nut throwing. He is supposed to have gone to Stone Clift, Derbyshire, where he has a brother named William Brice, residing. A warrant has been issued charging him with stealing oil the 25th ultimo, from a railway guards van, at Wolverhampton, 501bs. weight of Tea, and a large tin Box, value £ 7 10s. Absconded on the 28th ultimo, from 87, Mile End- road, embezzling £ 6 4s. : a man, 22 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, fair complexion, hair, and slight moustache, grey eyes; dressed in black frock coat, pockets on hips, dark tweed trousers and vest, black cloth cap, with peak, & ud is a porter. — Metropolitan Police, K Division, October 4, Absconded on the 17th ultimo, from Wadhurst, Sussex, charged with stealing 25s., the monies of his master : HENRY WHITMARSH, about 36 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 isches high, swarthy complexion, brown lair, whiskers meeting under chin, rather stout figure, large scar ou cheek, and one between the eyes ; dressed in brown slop, cord trousers, billycock hat, and heavy half boots. Supposed to be a native of Wilts, and is a labourer. Information to be given to Superintendent Peerless, Uckfield, Sussex, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- tireit, October 2, Absconded on the lst August last, a man ( who obtained a situation as a shopman at a London pawnbrokei's by mis- representation, and absconded the following day) charged with stealing sixteen gold Watches ( fourteen Geneva, one English lever, Dublin make, one keyless, plain cases, with nanogram); three silver Watches ( a Chatelaine, crystal front and back, and two Genevas); twelve gold Chains ( three Neckchains, one broken, one 18- carat, weight over 3ozs., three Alberts, one Victoria, five various ( one with guinea, pencil- case, two coins, and vinaigrette attached) ; three Bracelets ( one turquoise, damaged, two gold ( one wicker band pattern, set with green stones) ; four Lockets, three gold ( one diamond shape, with sardonyx centre), one large, set with pink coral, pearls and diamonds in shape of a star or cross, one large carbuncle, brilliant fly in centre; four Solitaires, two coral, two go> ld, with monogram'EP' or'NP' in diamonds; four pairs gold Earrings, one long, two filigree ( one anchor shape), one brilliant tops; ten Rings, one brilliant, ruby, and sapphire triplet, one brilliant ( egg- shape pearl in centre, and stone deficient), one large single- stone brilliant; two brilliant Marquise ( one about twenty stones, one with a yellow stone in centre), five gold ( one tnake, diamond eyes, two fancy, one keeper, set with ruby and two brilliants); a brilliant Pendant, stones of very choice quality ; a pink coral Necklace, fine colour; a gold Seal and Whistle ; and a brilliant Hair PiD, six or seven stones in shape of a fly. He is 30 years of age, about 5 feet 4 inches higb, rather florid complexion, brown hair and moustache, whiskers ( supposed) shaved off, small ears, and medium build. A reward of £ 25 will be paid on his appre- hension, a further reward of .£ 25 on conviction, and J290 on recovery of the property, or in proportion to the amount recovered, to any person who shall give such information as will lead to above results. Information to be given to Superintendent Williamson, Detective Department, Great Scotland- yard, London, S. W.— Bow- street, October 2. Stolen during the night of the 25th instant, from a stable at Compton Basset, the property of Thomas Taylor : a soldier's great Coat, No. 93, with brass buttons, and has lbeen mended in several places; and a cord Jacket, with pockets at the sides, about half- worn. Supposed isy a man, who has been a soldier, and has been working on tbe fai m harvesting. He is about 34 years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, fair complexion, or Ballan Lock, Ireland, and is well known at Much Wenlock and Bridgnorth, Salop. £ 5 reward is offered for his appre- hension aud conviction. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Ivins, Wellington, or to Sergeant Higgins, Dawley, Salop, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, September 27. Absconded on the 19th ijltant from Aberavon, charged upon a warrant with stealing £ 19 2s. the monies of one Jenkin David : HENRY FOSTER PARKER, a tailor, and a native of London, about 40 years of age, about 5 feet 4 inches high, very dark complexion, black hair, whiskers, and moustache, which is turning grey, black eyes, with heavy eyebrows, full face, stout build, and broad shoulders, fat feet, one of which he turns out very much, and is very much addicted to drink. Information to be given to Superin- tendent Howlett, County Constabulary, Neatb, Glamorgan- shire.— Bow- st,, September 27. Description of two men, charged with stealing a Canvas Bag In Sturbitch Pair, Cambridge, on the 25th instant, con- taining a Cheque for £ 55, and about £ 2, in Cash- They afterwards cashed the Cheque at Messrs. Fosters' Bank, one of them endorsing it ' Smith, Luton,' and received five £ 10 notes, Nos. respectively A. 520, A794, B251, B256, and B372, and a £ 6 note, No. 4975, all of Messrs. Posters' Bank. One of them is about 50 years of age, rather short and thick set, wearing a black coat and high hat, and had a large ring on one of his fingers. The other is from 25 to 30 years of age, nearly 6 feet high, walked lame, had a dark moustache, and wore a long dark coat, such as is worn by dealers, and a blue and white silk handkerchief round his neck. They both had the appearance of respectable horse- dealers. Police officers are requested to communicate the numbers of the Notes to all Banks within their jurisdiction. Information to be given to Superintendent Bedlow, Biggleswade, Beds.— Bow- street, October 4. Description of a tramp who gave the name of THOMAS FOX, committed for trial at the Bucks Quarter Sessions, on the 16th instant, on two charges of larceny : he is 28 years of age, 5 feet 8 itches high, dark hair, whiskers, and moustache; dressed in old soft black bilycock hat, light tweed coat, cord trousers, and lace- up boots ; he stated that he belonged to Edgeware, Middlesex. Information to be given to Inspector Moore, Police Station, Chesham, Bucks. - Bow- street, Oct. 4. Remanded at Market Harborough, till the 10th instant, charged with stealing : a black and white plaid Shawl, quite new; a dark mixture Petticoat, flowered near the bottom with narrow braid, quite new ; a piece of rough blue woollen Cloth ; and a small piece of dark Linsey. ELLEN BOOTH, 40 years of age, 5 feet 3£ inches high, black hair, turning grey, hazel eyes, and dark ruddy complexion ; dressed in old brown straw hat, old brown shawl, dark linsey jacket, very old black dress, and old lace- up boots. Information to be given to Superintendent Hollo way, Market Harborough, Leicester- shire.— Bow- street, October 4. FBLOIflES. ( Not otherwise described). Absconded, charged on a warrant with bestiality at Weymouth, on the evening of the 29th ultimo : GEORGE LEGG, 19 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, light complexion, brown eyes, dark brown hair, and of medium build ; dressed in a light coat and vest, cord trousers, black bowler hat, and new lace- up boots. He is a baker, and a native of Dorchester, Dorset, and will probably attempt to enlist as a soldier. Information to be given to Superintendent Vickery, Police Office, Weymouth, Dorsetshire, who will pay all necessary expenses on his apprehension.— Bow- street, October 2. clean shaved ; dressed in a black hat, and white slop. Infor- mation to be given to Inspector Millard, Calne, Wilts.— Bov)- street, September 29. Stolen between 2 and 3 a. m. on the 27th instant, the property of Thomas Kirk, at Hailsham : a pair of men's new lace- up calf leather Boots, an old black monkey Jacket, a pair of nearly new small check Trousers, an old blarek double- 1 dark Absconded from Bridgnorth, on the 21st instant: a travelling watch and clock cleaner, charged with larceny as bailee of a small silver Geneva Watch, with silver- coloured face, marked with a dark spot near the figures 4 or 5, the guard consisted of a black binding ribbon. He is 60 yeara of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, pale face, grey whiskers; dressed in a long black frock coat, gone brown from wear, and trousers of nearly the same material, low shoes, hard felt hat. He walks very erect, and stated he came from Epsom. Information to be given to Head Constable Cole, Bridgnorth, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, September 27. Charged with obtaining £ 2 by false pretences, from Robert Raiment, farmer, Doddington, Isle of Ely, on tbe 21st instaut; - . GEORGE HILLS, labourer, of Sawston, Cambs, about hair and whiskers, and | 40 yearg of agej 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, dark hair and whiskers, thin face, dark complexion, a widower ; dressed in light cloth cap, dark jacket, grey cloth vest, drabbet trousers, old laee- up boots, and a new shirt, rather dark stripe.
