Description of ROBERT BAILEY, postmaster, who ( absconded fiom Dawley oa the 11th instant, charged with forgery : about 45 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, dark complexion, dark hair aud whiskers, turning grey, bald • on top of head ; dressed in dark tweed suit, soft felt hat with broad brim, elastic side boots, smart appearance, walks fast. " Was last seen in the train for Wolverhampton. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Ivins, Wellington, or to Sergeant Higgins, Dawley, Salop, who holds a warrant for Ms apprehension.— Bow- street, September 20. Absconded, charged on a warrant with forgery : ISAAC COOK, about 58 or 60 years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches • high, stout build, fresh complexion, grey hair, cut short, grey • whiskers, no moustache, large features, large full eyes, walks erect and turns his toes out. He has been travelling the county o"' Durham for some time soliciting orders for giease. He is a native of Sunderland, and generally dresses iu a tweed suit, and a, white hat, which he wears on one side. Stolen by means of housebreaking, from the dwelling- house of Mrs. Besant, at Cowley, near Oxford, on the 17th instant: 9 silver dinner Forks, 2 plated ditto, marked ' B.'; 4 silver Table Spoons, and 1 silver Butter Knife, marked 11. S. B.'; 6 silver dessert Spoons, 5 silver egg ditto, 3 silver salt ditto, 1 plated Ladle, and 1 plated Skewer. Stolen by means of housebreaking from a dwelling- house at Tramnere, Cheshire, during the night of the 16th instant: a green morocco leather Purse, containing £ 15 in Gold; 3 pairs of grey twilled calico Sheets ; 1 pair of Blankets ; and 1 white knotted Counterpane. S.'; an old- fashioned silver Tea Spoon, marked ' P. B.'; a silver Thimble, with the stamp of the Exhibition of 1851 on it; a gold- mounted hair Brooch, marked ' R. and H.'; a gold Mourning Ring; a gold Eye- glass; and four old- fashioned silver Tea Spoons, marked ' I.' During the night of the 16th instant, a cottage at Reading was broken and entered, and stolen therein : aii open- face silver Geneva Watch, No. 37956; a white calico Shirt; a Shilling ; 2 lbs. of raw Bacon ; 2£ lbs. of Beef ; and a pair of men's size lace- up Boots, tipped, nailed, and clumped. During the afternoon of the 15th instant, a cottage at Defford, near Pershore, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : a pair ot dark cloth Trousers, fly fronts ; a pair of light grey cloth Trousers, with stripe, flap fronts; a grey c'olh Vest, the buttons have the name ' Wridgway' upon them ; a blaok and red v oollen plaid Shirt; a Towel; and Information to be given to Superintendent Hulse, Police Station, West Mailing, near Maidstone, Kent.— Bow- street, September 18. Between 1 and 5 p. m. on the 11th instant, the cottage of John Valentine, at Higham, Kent, was broken and entered, and stolen therein i a single- case silver verge Watch, maker Broad, Leadenhall- street, London; a silver Albert Chain, snake pattern ; a hair Albert Guard, with Key attached; an old silver Spoon ; and a silver Brooch. Supposed by two tramps, one about 40 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, dark complexion and hair, short dark whiskers and beard; dressed in rusty monkey jacket, and billycock hat; the other about 22 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, light complexion, and small light whiskers. Stolen from the person on the 17lh instant, in Preston : a lady's silver Geneva Watch, No. supposed to be 21210, has ' J. Jump' scratched on the inside of the outer case, and a black cord attached. Stolen from the person between Pontefract and Ackworth, » n the night of the 9th instant: a small size silver lever Watch, No. 4433, had attached a heavy 9- carat gold albert Guard, links about an inch long, connected with small ones, and an oval- shaped gold Locket. £ 1 reward will be paid 011 recovery of the property and conviction of the offender or offenders.. FREDERICK BRADSHAW, alias ALFRED PEAK BRADSHAW, charged with stealing a Horse and Cart at Bolton ( advertised in the Police Gazette of the 11th instant) is still at large, and a reward of £ 1 is offered for his appre- hension and conviction. Information to be given to Chief Constable Beech, Town Hall, Bolton, Lancashire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, September 20. Description of GEORGE CUBITT, of North Walsham, charged on a warrant with stealing a Horse, Dog Cart, and Harness on the 14th September last; the property of Benj. Information to be given to Super- intendent Stanton, Police Office, Pershore, Worcestershire,— Bow- st',' eel, September 18, Between 8 and 12 a m. on the 14th instant, the cottage of cloth Vest, a pair of cord Trousers, a woollen Shirt with yellow stupe, a pair of elastic- side Boots, and a blue and white bundle Handkerchief, was stolen therein. Supposed by two tramps : one 28 to 30 years of age, 5 feet 2 or 3 inches high, stout figure ; dressed in brown coat and cap ; the other 30 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, light moustache ; dressed in dark clothes, and hard felt hat. Stolc- n, by means of housebreaking, from the dwelling- house of William Johnson, Solihull, between 9 a. m. and 1 p. m. on the 13th ultimo : three black cloth Jackets, pockets out- side ; a pair of black cloth Trousers, flap front ; a pair of grey cloth ditto; a pair of cotton cord ditto ; two black cloth Waistcoats; and an old- fashioned plaid silk Neckerchief. Information to be ' given to Superintendent Galloway, Police Office, Aston, or to Acting Inspector Armishaw, Solihull, Warwickshire.— Bow- sireet, September 18, 10 and 11 a. m. on the 11th instant, the house Evan Owen, o£ Groespluan, near Welshpool, was broken and e- ntered, and stolen therein: 3 Half crowns, 3 Florins, 1 5 Shillings, and a 6d. Between 7 and 8 p m. on the 13th instant, the dwelling- house of Henry White, Esq., situate at Wateringbury, Kent, was broken aud entered, and stolen therein : a leather Case, about 6 01 8 inches square, with the letters ' C. W.' outside, containing Handkerchiefs, some of which are marked'C.', a large silver Brooch, in the form of a W, with crown on top, and a quantity of other Jewellery, consisting of Rings, Ear- rings, Bracelets, Brooches, Necklaces, & e.; also a small leather case, containing Jewellery. £ 5 reward will be paid to any person who will give such information as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders. The Horse, Cart, and Harness, obtained from the Royal Inn, Chelmsford, Essex, on the 5tk instant, and Gazetted on the 8th and following numbers, was found at Brixton, Surrey, and restored to the owner on the 14th instant. Fur- ther description of the person who took the same, aud who is still at large : about 26 yeafrs of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, of gentlemanly appearance, roman nose, aud clean face. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Lennon, Chelmsford, Essex.— Bow- street, September 20. Stolen during the night of the 15th instant, from a field at Hayes Budge : a chesnut Horse, 16 hands, 10 years old, hind feet white, grey spot on near hip, iu good coudition. Metropolitan Police, X Division, September 20. A man and woman of the following description obtained a Horse and Cart from the livery stables of Mr. Richard Speight, ef Gravesend, ou the 12th instant, and have not returned : the man is about 26 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, thin build, little or no whiskers, slight moustache; dressed in high hat, long blue rough coat, light stripe trousers and vest. The woman about the same age, stout, full face; dressed in long blue waterproof, dark straw hat with white feather. The horse is a black cob gelding, 15 hands, white ling off side under the mane, very quiet, and in good condition. Dog cart painted brown, picked out with red, imitation cane- work panels, green linings ; plated Harness, Whip, and Rug, value £ 40. £ 5 reward will be given for the recovery of the> property, and conviction of the offenders. Supposed to have been stolen on the night of the 13th instant, fiom a stable in Truro : a chesnut Horse, 8 years old, 14£ hands high, one white hind leg, and a ring round the near foreleg just above the fetlock, also two small sores on the near side of back. Information to be given to Superintendent Howlett, Constabulary Office, Neath, Glamorganshire — Bow- sireet, September 18. Supposed to have been stolen from the race course at Egham during the night of the 9th instant: a black Mare, 11 years old, 15 hands high, white face, white mark round the body, and only one shoe on. If stolen £ 2 reward will be paid on conviction of the offender or offenders. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Bungard, Surrey Con- stabulary Chertsey, or to Inspector Pike, Egham, Surrey, — Bm- itreet, September 16. Description of THOMAS WYATT, of Sixpenny Hand- ley, Dorset, charged with stealing a ewe Sheep ( recovered) : he is 24 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, fresh complexion, full face, blue eyes, brown hair, and dirty appearance. He generally associates with gipsies, and sometimes obtains employment as a drover at fairs and markets. Information to be given to the Deputy Chief Constable, Dorset Constabu- lary, " Wimborne.— Bow- street, September 15. Stolen on the 9th instant, from Bracebridge Low Fields: a dark bay clean legged cart Horse, 15 hands 2 inches high, 7 years old, white face, two white heels, hangs over a little at knees, walks wide behind, and in good condition. Supposed by a man, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, rather stout build, peculiar eyes, and speaks with a Norfolk accent; dressed in a pair of short leather leggings, dark clothes under a drab mackintosh, was carrying a whip when seen at Newark, at 11 p. m. on the 9th inbtant, and had with him a horse answering the above description ; he frequents fairs, markets, & e.; the horse was last heard of going through Lady Bay Bridge toll- gate, at 11 a. m. on the 10th instant, two miles on the Newark side of Nottingham. Information to be given to Superintendent Brown, Police [ Station, Lincoln.— Bow- street, September 15. Stolen from a field at Bromford, near Birmingham, during the night of the llth instant : 9 fat white- faeed Lambs, of the Irish breed, with raddle mark between the shoulders, and blue mark on forehead; the property of Jonathan Garrett. Information to be given to Superintendent Galla way, Police Office, Aston, near Birmingham.— Bow- ttreet, September 15. Stolen on the 9th instant, from 18, Carlton- square, Peckham : a grey mare Pony, aged, 13 hands high, little hair off both knees, short tail, in good condition ; a set of plated Harness ; and an oak- coloured village Cart, with American leather Cushions. By a stableman, 30 years of age, 5 feet 10 inehes high, thin make, fresh complexion, light hair and moustache, and small eyes ; supposed dressed in black coat and vest, dark mixture trousers, and hard felt hat.— Metro- politan Police, P Division, S ptember 13. Stolen during the night of the Sth instant, from a field at Wanstead Park, Essex : two Horses, for saddle or harness, one a dark dapple grey, 15 hands 2 inches high, 6 years old, short switch tail, docked, large lump On off shoulder, with a Seton through it, one fore and one hind shoe off, and in good oondition ; the other a light chestnut, 15 hands 2 inches high, 6 years old, face and hind legs white, hocks slightly fired, lump on off knee, switch tail, no fore shoes, and in good condition.— Metropolitan Police, N Division, September 13, Stolen from a field at Low Bracebridge, near Lincoln, on the night of the 9th instnnt: a bay Cart Horse, 15 hands 2 inches high, white face, white hind fetlocks, thin tail, in good condition, hangs over a little at knees, walks wide behind, and is about 7 years old. Stolen, 16th instant, from the Vivian Hotel, Peckham- rye : a ,£ 10 Bank of England note. By the potman, 30 ye: rs of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, fair complexion, hair and moustache ( slight) dark, female in blue ink on left arm; dress, light waterproof coat, grey under do., dark vest and trousers, hard felt hat .— Metropolitan Police, P Division, September 20. Absconded on the 15th instant, from Grosvenor- road, Pimlico, embezzling j> 14 10s.: a man, 40 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, florid complexion, black hair and whiskers; dressed in a dirty brown overcoat, blue guernsey, tight fitting grey and black striped trousers, and hard felt bat, a horse keeper.— Metropolitan Police, B Division, Sept. 20. Stolen. from the dwelling house of Mary Pickering, of Bronington, Flintshire, about noon on the 15t, h instant : a small silver Watch, a gold hoop Ring, a stiver albert Chain, a youth's dark cloth Coat, pockets on hips, a pair of striped cloth Trousers, 2 grey woollen Shirts, a silk Neckerchief, a Scarf, and a pair of strong lace- up boots. By a youth, about 18 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, slender build, dark hair, no whiskers; dressed in monkey jacket, moleskin or militia trousers, fancy Lancashire clogs, and old cloth cap. Information to be given to Superintendent Bolton, Hanmer, Whitchurch, Salop,- Bm- street, September 18. Absconded on the 13th instant, from Essex- road, Islington, embezzling £ 10 : a man, 20 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, dark complexion, hair ( curly), and eyes; dressed in a blue ribbed coat, poekets on hips, light trousers, blaek hat, and side- spring boots, all old.— Metropolitan Police, N Division, September 18. Stolen from the Royal Artillery Barracks, Woolwich, on on the 12th instant: a small open- face gold Geneva Watch, gold dial, steel hands, supposed No. 6083, plain gold Albert Chain, with long gold Key, white stone ia end, and gold American Coin attached, and a small 5- chamber muzzle- loading Revolver, By GEORGE WARE, No. 7 Battery, Depot Brigade, R. A., a deserter, 28 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, fresh complexion, hair ( very short) and moustache brown.— Metropolitan Police, R Division, Sept. 18. Stolen on the 12th instant, from 32, Ely- place, Holborn : a single- stone diamond Ring, stone 3s'a- carats, split ' shank setting. By a man 33 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches stout figure, light brown hair and whiskers, rather thin, moustache recently shaved off, walks very erect, has been in the army, and is a farm servant; dressed in a grey tweed suit of clothes, the coat round and short, low- crowned black felt hat, and elastic- side boots. He carried a white water- proof overcoat over his arm or shoulder, and is a native of Peebleshire, Scotland. Absconded on the llth instant, from 113, High- street, Borough, embezzling ,£ 12 5s. 8d. : a man, 23 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches^ gh, fair eomplexioB, brown whiskers, mous- tache, and hair, parted in centre ; dressed in black cloth frock coat, and high hat ; he has a relative a grocer at Chatham.— Metropolitan Police, M Division, SepUmber 15. Description of THOMAS ALEXANDER SCOTT, who absconded from his employer, Mr. R. N. Pratt, of Northgate, Canterbury, on the 25th July last, charged with embezzle- ment: 26 years of . age,' 5 feet 6 inches high, dark brown hair and eyes, and has a peculiar twitch ia one eye when speaking, slightly knock- kneed, and a little hair on the face. He is a baker and a native of Margate, Kent,. Information to be given to Chief Constable Davies, City of Canterbury, Kentr who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, September 15.
