Absconded from Old Hill, Rowley Regis, Staffordshire, charged with stealing £ 1 7s. from the person of Thomas Jones, at Old Hill, on the 23rd ultimo : a man, about 43 years of age, 5 feat 6 or 7 inches higb, light brown hair, sandy whiskers, upper lip and part of chin shaved ; dressed in white slop, moleskin trousers, soft black billycock hat, and lace- up boots ( nearly new). He has a relative living in Birmingham, and has been working in brick yards as a labourer, and driving a horse and cart. Has recently been employed in brick yards at Halesowen and Oldbury, near Birmingham. Supposed by THOMAS McCANN or j upon- Tweed.— cow- street, September 4, Berwick- Description of a man charged with having broken into the School Room at Watermillock, near Penrith, on tbe 20th ultimo, and stolen the Shirt described in the Police Gazette of the 25th ultimo : he is supposed to be the man who was convicted of sacrilege in Westmoreland in 1870, and sentenced to 5 years penal servitude, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 inB. high, lender figure, dark hair and complexion ; dressed in a dark coat, light trousers, and imitation seal- skin cap. During the Bight of the 1st instant a dwelling- house at Shobnall, near Burton- on- Trent, was broken and entered, and stolen therein: an olive- brown Overcoat, nearly new, with plain collar, lavender- striped lining, had three pockets ( one a small ticket) outside, and one inside breast; a green twill Umbrella, with handle, a dog's head deficient of one eye; a pair of white cotton Stockings. On the lst instant, the dwelling- house of George Daces, of Bapehild, near Sittingbaurne, was broken into, and stolen therein: an old- fashioned metal hunting Watcb, No. 578, maker Charles Vinson, Coventry ; a long German silver Guard attached ; a patent lever Geneva silver Watch, glass a little loose, long silver Guard attached ; and a pair of heavy lace- up Beats, nearly new. At the coroners inquest a verdict of ' Wilful Murder' against some person or the stolen Boots, aud carried a small bundle, tied up in a blue ' guernsey, arid is supposed to be a fisherman. Stockport, Cheshire.— Bow- street, September 11. During the night of the 8 th instant the dwelling- house of Mrs. Mercer, Hertford- terrace, Coventry, was broken and entered and stolen therein : a black marble Time- Piece, inlaid with green marble, about 12 inches high, 10 inches wide, 6 inches thick, flat top, white dial, steel bands, black figures, aud has a small piece of the black marble chipped ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Stolen from the person as Halesworth, on the 4th inst. : a gold lever Watcb, makers Barrand and Lund, Cornhill, London, No. 2 | 6492. Any person giving such information frcm one of the front lower corners. Information to be given as will lead to the recovery of the Watch and conviction of the offender or offenders shall receive £ 1 reward. Between 11 and 12 a. m. on the 7th instant, ths cottage of Benj tm'n Scattergo d, near the Beggar's Bush, Perry Barr, was broken and entered, and stolen therein: a black cloth frock Coat, with pockets behind, andjone breast pocket, much worn ; a lady's gold dress Ring, with green stone; an old gold Wedding Ring, lined with silver; and about 14s. in Silver. Supposed by two tramps : one about 40 years of open face, gold dial with raised gold figures, winds! age, about 5 feet 6 inches high, sandy whiskers, and appeared at the back, gold balance, and jewelled in 4 holes, Maker's name * Thompson, Calcutta.' Stolen from the person of Sarah Lloyde, of Moulton Marsh, near Fosdyke- bridge, on the 7th instant, at 5 p. m.: 2 Florins. By a man who went to the house and asked for to be suffering from asthma; dressed in old dark clothes, and black cap. The other is from 30 to 40 years of age, about 5 feet 9 inches high, round face, and small whiskers ; dressed in old dark clothes, and black cap. Stolen by means of house- breaking from the dwelling- house of James Ash, at Ward End, on the 4th instant : a money, about 30 or 35 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, j gold Keeper Ring, 18 carat. Information to be given to Chief Con- stable Beech, Bolton, Lancashire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Box- street, September 11. ; ': ' Absconded on the 5th instant from Upper Gormal Ssdgley, charged with stealing a brown Mare ( since re- covered); the properey of Mr. Edmund Howl: JAMES WAINWRIGHT, about 42 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, dark brown hair, dark eyes, sandy whiskers and mous- tache, and ruddy complexion; dressed in a black jacket, drab- coloured tioustrs aad vest, and old bsown straw hat. He baa relatives residing at Aston, Birmingham, and Sam- brook, near Newport, Salop. Information to be given to Inspector Tomlinson, Sedgley, Staffordshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, September 11. A man of the following description obtained a Horse Cart, and Harness, from the Royal Oak Inn, Chelmsford, on the 5th instant, for the purpose of going to Witham, and has not returned : about 25 or 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, dark whiskers; dressed in black coat, light trousers, light- colour cloth top boots. Had the appearance of a shop- man. Bay horse, aged, 15 hands higb, black mane and tail, scar on near shoulder, lame off fore fetlock, white mark over both eyes. Brown dog cart, picked out with red, ' Emberson' or ' Tavner' on cap of wheels, red linings on back of seat, red cushions, white goat- skin mat, silver- plated harness, forehead piece of halter jellow, ' J. Absconded on the 31st ultimo, from the Kings Arms Hotel, High- street, Kensington, stealing a registered post Letter, containing a lady's gold Geneva Watch, with gold fetter- link albert Chain attached : a mail, 34 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fair complexion, brown hail", hazel eyes ; dress, dark tweed trousers and vest, brown cutaway coat, hard felt hat.— Metropolitan Police, T Division, September 11. Stolen from Teigh on the lst instant: a silver case engine- turned horizontal Hunting Watcb, had attached a steel guard Chain, a Fourpenny Piece, two silver Twopenny Pieces, one Three- halfpenny Piece, two watch Keys, with ' Norton, Stamford,' engraved thereon. By a tramp about 24 years'of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 ins. high, stout, fresh complexion, light hair, and sandy moustache ; dressed in old dark coat, vest and trousers, black felt hat, and old elastic side- spring boots. Absconded from the Working Boys' Home, Hereford, charged oil a warrant with stealing Fourteen Pence: SAMUEL MADDOX, 14 years of age, 5 feet 1 inch high, dark eyes, and light hair ; dressed in cord vest and trousers, white slop, boots, and black cap. Information to be given to Superintendent Davies, City Police, Hereford.— Bow- street, September 11. Charged on a warrant - with larceny from a mail cart, at Hurstgreen, ou the morning of the 5th instant, taking a small gold Geneva Watch, engraved metal face, Roman figures, has the gilt near the VII slightly scratched off, seconds hands : HENRY HOLLANDS, the driver, who has absconded, about 28 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, dark complexion, louud features, good looking, two upper teeth gone in fiont, very dark whiskers and moustache, chin clean shaved, medium figure, speaks quickly ; dressed in a dark tweed jacket, light trousers, and light biilycock hat. Absconded, charged with stealing from her employer?, at Irby, on the 2nd instant: £ i 7s. 6d. in Gold and Silver Monies ; a blue waterproof Cloak ; a dress Bodice and top Skirt, brown plaid; a violet Skirt, with deep black fringe ; and a grey wincey under Skirt, braided with scarlet: HARRIET GEORGE, about 17 years of age, short and stout dark complexion, dark hair, cut short, wears a hair net, dark eyes, rather broad features, cut r& ark on one arm, extending from wrist to elbow ; dressed iu the stolen articles, grey ribbed stockings, and elastic- side boots ; she is a native — " " "" Staffordshire; she has been check border, and a knot on the top. He has been employed as a baker, and absconded from Mr. D. Parsons, Miller aud Baker, Odell Mills, near Bedford, with whom he was living on licence from the Bedfordshire Reformatory. £ 1 reward will be paid for his apprehension. Description of THOMAS CROSS, a tailor, charged on' a wariant with stealing 2 pairs of Boots, a suit of Clothes, and 3 pairs of Socks : 16 years of age, 5 feet 1 inch high, fair complexion, light brown hair, blue eyea ; dressed in light brown broken check suit, black billycock hat. He is supposed to have gone to Worcester or Sheffield. Information to be given to Chief Constable Segrave, Townhall, Wolverhampton. — Bow- street, Sevtember 6. Stolen between the 23rd and 29th ultimo, from Bed worth- street, Kennington: a sealskin Jacket, ' Swan and Edgar' on back of neck, pocket inside, lined with dark brown satin, and a gold open face lever Watch, figure of a man engraved at back. By a man, 20 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, dark complexion, hair, and eyes ; dressed in check coat, dark mixture trousers, black vest, straw hat, and spring- side boots. — Metropolitan Police, L Division, September 6. Stolen from a dwelling- house in Newport Pagnell.: one Half- Sovereign ; a gold Ring, engraved inside ' In Memory of Sarah Compton, died May 6th, 1864, aged 21 Years'; a small gold Pin ; and a smalt silver Pencil- case ; the property of Thomas Kilpin, of Newport Pagnall. By a tramping tailor, who had worked for Mr. Thomas Kilpin about six weeks, and absconded ou the 4th instant. He stated he came from Manchester, 19 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, fair complexion, grey eyes, light sandy hair, slight figure, marked ' W. L.' on left arm ; dressed in a dark suit, black billycock hat, and elastic- side boots. He was traced to Wolverton, where he booked by the 2 3 p. m. train for Willesden Junction. Information to be given to Superintendent Hedley, Fenny Stratford, or to Inspector Hall, Newport Pagnell, Bucks.— Bow- ttreet, September 6. Description of PETER CRUIS, rag and bone collector, who absconded from Wellington, on the 26th ultimo, charged with stealing 50 lbs. of Brass ( recovered) : about 30 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches higb, round features, dark com- plexion, hair, and moustache, and no whiskers ; dressed in dark clothes, hard low felt hat, and lace- up boots. He is an Irishman. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Con- stable Ivins, Wellington, or to Sergeant Higgins, Dawley, Salop, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, S ptember 6. Description of a man charged with stealing furniture ( recovered) from 10, Onslow- mews, Kensington, on the 30th ultimo : 40 years of age, 5 feet 1 inch high, fair complexion, light brown hair ; dressed in dark melton coat and vest, dark tweed trousers, stripe down side, aud billycock bat. second finger of left hand deficient.— Jketopolitan Police, B Division, September 6. Absconded on the 2nd instant, frcm 39, St. John's Street- road, Clerkenwell, stealing six gentlemen's gold Watch Cases, engine- turned, medallion centre, four numbered 51663, 51682, 51678, and 51683. By a man, 30 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches higb, fair complexion, brown hair and mous Jeffery, Guestling, or at any Police Station in East Sussex.— Bow- street, Septeniber 4. FELOWIES. Absconded from Prestwick, in the county of Ayr, on the 23rd ultimo, charged with rape ; WILLIAM KING, a iabourer, about 19 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, dark brown hair, no whiskers, large eyes, and fresh complexion, Scotch dialect ; dressed in dark grey cloth trousers, light grey cloth jacket, blue cloth cap, and strong boots or shoes. THOMAS GALT, a labourer or quarryman, 18 or 19 years of age, about 5 feet 8 inches high, dark browu hair, no whiskers, dark eyes, pale complexion, arid slender figure. Scotch dialect; dressed iu white moleskin trousers, blue cloth jacket, blue eloth cap, aniTlight boots or shoes. A sheriff's warrant has been granted for their apprehension. Information to be given to the Chief Constable of Ayrshire, at Ayr.— Bow- street, September 4. . Obtained by false pretences, about 4' 30 p. m. on the 4th iilstant, from Mr. G. E. Farmer, stationer, & c , Market- street, Longton, Staffordshire : a Ledger, and two day Books. By a mau from 50 to 60 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 iuches high ; dressed in a brown suit of moleskin, aud black sammy hat; he had the appearance of a respectable working man, and represented that a builder in the town had sent him for the books, which was falsa. Information to be given to Superintendent McWilliams, • Police Station, Longton, Staffordshire.— Bow- strcet, September 11. Absconded, charged with obtaining the sum of £ 2. bv means of a fictitious cheque : CATER NEWINGTON, 27 years of age, 5 feet 10 incnes high, dark complexion, hair, moustache, and btard, and of gentlemanly appearance ; he has a relative residing at Fairfield, near Taunton, Somerset- shire.
