HISCOCK, charged on a warrant with uttering and forging on the 14th ultimo, a Cheque for £ 18 10s., on the Shaftesbury Branch of the Wilts and Dorset Bank : he is about 29 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches higb, dark brown hair, very thin on the top, small whiskers and moustache. He stated that he belonged to Somerset House, resided near Russell- square, Bloomsbury, and was sent out by the Govern- ment inspecting nuisances in different districts. Stolen from the person of John Ball, of Wigan- road, Deane, Bolton, at 10 30 p. m. on the 3rd instant : a silver lever Watch, gold balance, gold hinges, No. 1904, and about 4s. Absconded from Old Hill, Rowley Regis, Staffordshire, charged with stealing £ 1 7s. from the person of Thomas Jones, at Old Hill, on the 23rd ultimo : a man, about 43 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches higb, light brown hair, sandy whiskers, upper lip and part of chin sh ' ved ; dressed in white slop, moleskin trousers, soft black billycock hat, and lace- up boots ( nearly new). He has a relative living in Birmingham, and has been working in brick yards as a labourer, and driving a horse and cart. Has recently been ea ployed in brick yards at Halesowen and Oldbury, near Birmingham. By a man, about 20 years of ago, about 5 feet 8 inches high, pale complexion, and large full eyes; dressed in black cloth coat and vest, light grey trousers, and soft felt hat. Description of a man charged with having broken into the School Room at Watermillock, near Penrith, on. the 20th ultimo, and stolen the Shirt described in the Police Gazette of the 25th ultimo : he is supposed to be the man who was convicted of sacrilege iu Westmoreland in 1870, and sentenced to 5 years penal servitude, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 ins. high, tlender figure, dark hair and complexion ; dressed in a dark coat, light trousers, and imitation seal- skin cap. During the » iglit of the 1st instant a dwelling- house at Shobnall, near Burton- on- Trent, was broken and entered, and stolen therein: an olive- brown Overcoat, nearly new, vrith plain collar, lavender- striped lining, had three pockets ( one a small ticket) outside, and one inside breast; a green twill Umbrella, with handle, a dog's head deficient of one eye; a pair of white cotton Stockings. Information to be given to Superintendent Bowen, Burton- on- Trent, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, eptember 4. On the 1st instant, the dwelling- house of George Danes, of Bapehild, near Sittingbourne, was broken into, and stoleu therein : an old- fashioned metal hunting Watch, No. 678, maker Charles Vinson, Coventry ; a long German silver Guard attached ; a patent lever Geneva silver Watch, glass a little loose, long silver Guard attached ; and a pair of heavy lace- up Boots, nearly new. By a man, about 60 years of age, middle height, whiskers turning grey, very dirty appearance; i dressed in monkey jacket, white trousers, light cap, with j flaps tied up with string, and the stolen shoes. Information : to be given to Superintendent Mayne, Police Court, Sitting- bourne, Kent.— Bow- street, September 4. About 9 a. m. on the ° 28th ultimo the dwelling- house of John Garner, of Sutton Marsh, was broken and entered, and ! two pairs of strong lace Boots stolen therein, one pair recovered, nearly new, and has heel- plates and half toe- plates. By a man about 19 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, fresh complexion, light brown hair, and very little whiskers ; dressed in brown cloth coat and vest, brown trousers with a I narrow stripe, dark soft cloth cap, peak of same material, j blue serge shirt, and clogs. He was supposed to be wearing the stolen Boots, and carried a small bundle, tied up in a blue guernsey, and is supposed to be a fisherman. Between 1 and 5 p. m. on the 30th ultimo, tho cottage of George Hornby, Rustou Parva, East Riding, was broken into by taking out the window, and £ 2 3s. iu Gold and Silver, and a silver lever Watch, No. 39145, stolen. Stolen by'means of housebreaking, from the dwelling- house of Wm. Slaney, Moor End Green, between 9 a. m. and 3 p. m. on the 30th ultimo : one black cloth Coat and Yest; one pair of black cloth Trousers ; one pair of black and grey plaid Ditto; two white Pocket Handkerchiefs; four large Ditto ; one pair of cameo Sleeve Links, gold ; one double barrel breech- loading Revolver; and the silver Fittings belonging to a lady's work box. Stolen by means of house- breaking from the dwelling- house of Benjamin Starkey, Gravelly Lane, Erdington, at Aston, between 9 a. m. and 6 p. m. on the 29th ultimo : one silver Geneva Watch, with ' J. Kent' scratched on the inside of case ; one common gold- coloured Locket and Albert Chain attached ; one wooden Pipe and Case ; and one Locket in the shape of a heart. Between 11 p. m. on the 28th, and 7 a. m. on the 29th ult,, a dwelling- house in Lichfield, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : about half- an- ounce of gold Nuggets ; four Bottles of Champagne ; three Eggs ; and a small quantity of Bread, Butter, and Meat. Had the appearance of a shop- man. Bay horse, aged, 15 hands high, black mane and tail, scar on near shoulder, lame off fore fetlock, white mark over both eyes. Brown dog cart, picked out with red, ' Emberson' or ' Tavner' on cap of wheels, red linings on back of seat, red cushions, white goat- skin mat, silver- plated harness, forehead piece of halter yellow, ' J. Stolen from a field at Beyton, near Bury- St.- Edmund's, on the night of the 30th ultimo : a light bay mare Pony, 13 hands 1 inch high, about 6 years old, with long mane and tail, aud a'large swelling under the jaw, a small knot on the near hind thigh, a white mark on the same thigh, and slightly lame of near bind leg. Absconded, GEORGE BURKETT, late a traveller, charged with embezzlement : he is about 30 years of age, about 5 feet 6 inc'- es higb, fresh complexion, deeply pock- pitted, blue eyes, light hair, red whiskers and moustache, shaved on chin, rather large nose, part of one upper front tooth gone, long features, proportionate build, and is a native of London; dressed in dark blue ribbed frock coat, grey trousers, and billycock liat. Absconded, ALFRED NIEMYAKI, charged with larceny, by a servant : he is a Pole, 35 years of age, 5 ft. 5 ins. high, fresh complexion, large eyes, light brown hair, whiskers and moustache; dressed in soft tommy hat, and pepper and salt suit, and is of gentlemanly appearance. Absconded on the 1st instant, from No. 51, Lambs Conduit- street, embezzling £ 5 : a man, 24 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, dark complexion and moustache, impediment in hia speech, thick lips, teeth slightly projecting, and shuffling walk ; dressod in a black cloth jacket, blue trousers, felt hat, and low shoes. He has a relative residing in West- passage, Blue Town, Sheerness, Kent.— Metropolitan Felice, E Divi- sion, September 8, Absconded on the 4th instant, from Lower Gornal, near Sedgley, charged on a warrant with stealing : a Sovereign; a German silver Watch; and a dark cloth Waistcoat, the property of Charles Crew : HENRY ROBERT GARRATT, about 22 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, light brown hair, no whiskers, fair complexion, slender build, double set of upper teeth, nose injured by a blow, and turns a little on one side ; dressed in a blue pilot jacket, dark cloth vest, light coloured cord trousers, lace- up boots, black billycock hat ; ho is a labourer, and will probably seek employment in the bop picking districts, in, Kent. September 8 about 4 feet 10 inches high, ruddy complexion, brown hair and eyes, scar over left eye, very stout build ; dressed in round ' drabbet jacket and vest, cord trousers, cilico shirt, worsted j stockings, strong lace- up boots, woollen cap with peak and 1 check border, aud a knot on the top. He has been employed : as a baker, and absconded from Mr. D. Parsons, Miller and j Baker, Odell Mills, near Bedford, with whom he was living on licence from the Bedfordshire Reformatory. £ 1 reward will be paid for his apprehension. Stolen between the 23rd and 29th ultimo, from Rec worth- street, Kensington : a sealskin Jacket,' Swan and Edgar' on back of neck, pocket inside, lined with dark brown satin, and a gold open face lever Watch, figure of a msn engraved at back. By a man, 20 years of age, 5 feet 8. inches high, dark complexion, hair, and eyes ; dressed in check coat, dark mixture trousers, black vest, straw hat, and spring- side boots. — Metropolitan Police, L Division, / September 6. Stolen from a dwelling- house in Newport Pagnell: one Half- Sovereign of Sarah Cornpton small gold Pin of Thomas Kilpin, of Newport Pagnull. By a tramping tailor, who had worked for Mr. Thomas Kilpia about six weeks, aud abscouded on the 4th instant. He stated he came from Manchester, 19 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, fair j complexion, grey eyes, light sandy hair, slight figure, marker ' W. L.' on left arm ; dressed in. a dark suit, black billycock hat, and elastic side boot*. He was traced to Wnlverton where he booked by the 2 3 p. m. train for Willesden Junction Information to be given to Superintendent Hedley, Fenny Stratford, or to Inspector Hall, Newport Pagnell, Bucks.— Bow- street, September 6. Description of PETER CRUIS, rag and bone collector who absconded from Wellington, on the 26th ultimo, chaiyec with stealing 50 lb-;, of Brass ( recovered) : about 30 years ol age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, round features, dark com- plexion, hair, and moustache, and no whiskers ; dressed'in dark clothes, hard low felt hat, and . lace- up boots. By a man, 30 years of age 5 feet 9 inches high, fair complexion, brown hair and mous tache, and dark eyes ; dressed in black coat aud vest, grey trousers, and billycock hat — Metropolitan Police, G Division, September 6. Absconded, 30th ultimo, from 25, Great Cambridge- street, Hackney- road, embezzling the sum of .£ 107 ; » man, 28 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, fair complexion, pock- pitted, hair, whiskers, and moustache sandy, very stout; dressed in grey tweed suit, black felt hat, of respectable appearance, and is a native of Norwich.— M'itropolitan Police, N Division, September 6. Stolen from the dwelling- house of Mr. T. Elderkin, Little Houghton Mills : 5 lady's gold RiDgs, one diamond, set with 6 or 7 stones, one of them out at the end ; one buckle, with two red stones in centre ; one with 5 turquoise stones, set in half circle ; one with 3 rubies ami 2 diamond;', set in half- circle, engraved inside the hoop ' In Memory of T. J. G., 1869'; one with 3 emeralds and 2 opals, in half circle. A pair of gold Earrings, set with turquoise stones. A small gold Locket, with blue enamel. An oval- shaped ivory Brooch, with a figure of a he id in centre. A set of 3 Studs, made from small gold Egyptian coins. Two Chinese Coins, made into sleeve studs. Two dessert Spoons, two dessert Forks, two table Forks, two tsa Spoons, two salt Spoon?, with gilt bowls, all electro- plated. All the plated articles are marked with the initials ' T. E.' Two pairs of Nut Crackers, not marked. A sealskin Jacket, much worn. By a man giving the name of WILLIAM STEVENSON, from London, who was employed there painting and paper- hanging, aud absconded on the 28th ultimo. He is about 32 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high. Bli:; iit sandy Whiskers and moustache, fresh complexion, slender build, scar on top of breast bone near the throat, which he saj s was caused by a stab by a woman at Malta; dressed in peppsr and salt coloured billycock hat, dark coat and trousers, aud white silk neckerchief. He is very active and smart in appearance. Information to be given to Superintendent Poole, Welling- borough, or to Inspector Williamson, Con try Police Station, Northampton, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— — Dow street, September 6. Absconded from Berwick- upon- Tweed, charged with stealing a Jacket ( recovered) ou the 26th ultimo: a man, from 40 to 50 years of age, 5 leet 11 inches high, stout make, dark complexion, hair, whiskers, and moustache ; dressed in a loose blue coat, light coloured trousers, mended on kueee, soft felt bat, and of dirty appearance. Information to be given to Head Constable Garden, Berwick- upon- Tweed.— Bow- street, September 4. Absconded, charged on a warrant with stealing from an unoccupied house at Ore, the property of ifee Rev. W. T. Turner : 3 Gasburners, aud 4 Chandeliers ( recovered).. EDWARD LEE, a gipsy, well known in Kent and Sussex, 18 or 19 years of age, 5 feet 1 or 2 ioches high, dark com- plexion, hair, and eyes, rather stout figure. He sometimes collects rags and bores ; dressed in black hard round hat, rusty black cloth jacket, dark trousers. HENRY MELLTSH is in custcdy on the above charge, 17 or 18 years of . age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, dark complexion, hair, aud eyes, slight figure. He is a rag and bone collector ; dressed in white billycock hat, brown coat, white slop under, black vest, grey trousers. Information to be given to Superintendent Jeffery, Guestling, or at any Police Station in East Sussex,— Bow- street, September 4. Stolen from a stable at Dethic, on the morning of the 30 th ultimo : a pilot cloth Jacket, turned brown from exposure and wear, two buttons on front, one brass, the other black bone, red and black striped lining, and the seam on the top of left shouldei unstitched. By a tramp, who had been as- sisting in the harvest field : about 40 years of age, 6 feet high, light complexion, rather stout, no whiskers or mous- tache, small tuft of hair on chin, and bald on top of head ; dressed in a dirty slop, old striped vest, old cotton cord trousers, clogs ( one cut iu front), and without stockings. He was seen in Derby on the morning of the 31st ultimo wearing the stolen jacket. He will probably call at railway works or upon farmeis for employment. Information to be given to Superintendent Sharpe, Police Station, Wirksworth, Derby- shire.— Bote- street, September 4. Absconded from Bridport oa the night of the 29th ult., charged with embezzlement : HARRY WINDSOR, a tele- graph clerk, about 22 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, fair- complexion, light brown hair and whiskers, light saudy moustache, and of smart appearance; generally dressed in a dark plaid suit, brown stiff hat, sometimes wears a blue serge coat, large Albert chain and gold locket attached, large gold i finger ring, and a green scarf pin, horse- ahoe pattern. He is I in company with a youth jbout 18 years of age, 5 feet 2 ins. I high, fair complexion, and full face; and will probably i endeavour to go to America from London, Liverpool, or Bristol. Information to be given to Superintendent MacHale, ; Beaminster, Dorset.— Bate- street, September 4. Charged with stealing, on the 11th ult., a Dress, a Smock ! Stolen in the borough of Bolton during the month of August: On the 3rd, from the person of a boy 8 years of age : a blue pilot cloth Overcoat, nearly new, two pocket) outside with flaps over, lined inside with blue and red plaid woollen lining, and belt attached to the back of the same material. On the 5th : a youth's blue cloth Overcoat, frock shape, two pockets in laps behind, one inside left breast, black cloth buttons, double- breasted, aud bla- ik velvet collar ( was for- merly a police overcoat and had beed turned). By a woman, who had lodged ia the house about a fortnight, 19 years of age, dark brown hair, fair complexion, and is supposed to be wearing the stolen clothes, as she left her own behind. She is likely to be found at brothels or low refreshment houses. She stated she belonged to Stockton- on- Tees. Ou the 7th : a Smoothing Plane, stamped at the end with the letters ' T. W. F.' On the 23rd : a single- breasted black and grey plaid Vest, without collar, black bone buttons, puce and white striped lining. Ou the 26th : a new red and white plaid regatta Shirt, and 28 yards of brown Coburg, 40 inches wide. On the 31st, from a beer- house : £ 6 10s. in Gold, and 10s. in Silver. By a lodger, about 26 years of age, 5 feet 6 ins. high, sallow complexion, blue eyes, thick nose, wide nostrils, no hair on eyebrows, no beard or whiskers, slight sandy moustache ; dressed in dirty moleskin trousers, and white linen jacket underneath a dark cloth coat.
