JlJTJ Stolen by means of house- breaking from the dwelling- house of James Ash, at Ward Eud, on the 4th iustant : a gold Keeper Ring, 18 carat. By a man, about 20 years of age, about 5 feet 8 inches high, pale complexion, and large full eyes; dressed in black cloth coat and vest, light grey trousers, and soft felt hat. Description of a man charged with having broken into the School Room at Watermillock, jpear Penrith, on the 20th ultimo, and stolen the Shirt described in the Police Gazette of the 25t'n ultimo : he is supposed to be the man who was convicted of sacrilege in Westmoreland in 1870, and sentenced to 5 years penal servitude, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 ins. high, blender figure, dark hair and complexion ; dressed in a dark coat, light trousers, and imitation seal- skin cap. Supposed to have been stolen on the 3rd instant, from a field at Ryecroft, Walsall: a brown Pony, Syrs. old, 13 handr high, white spot on back, both knees, and long bushy tad. The Pony described in the Police Gazette of the 1st instant, as stolen from Kingston Market Place, has been recovered, but the thief has not been apprehended.— Met- ropolitan Police, V Division, September 6. Stolen from a field at Beyton, near Bury- St.- Edmund'x, on the night of the 30th ultimo : a light bay mare Pony, 13 hands 1 inch high, about 6 years old, with long mane and tail, and a L. rg « swelling under the jaw, a small knot on the near hind thigh, a white mark on the same thigh, and slightly lame of near hind leg. Absconded, on the 28th ultimo : ROBERT LEVINS, late of Lock- Square. Walworth, Middlesex, 15 years of age. about 4 feet 10 inches high, ruddy complexion, brown hair and eyes, scar over left eye, very stout build ; dressed in round drabbet jacket and vest, cord trousers, calico shirt, worsted stockings strong lace- up boots, woollen cap vith po J-., and check border, aud a knot on the top. He has been employed as a baker, and absconded from Mr. D. Parsons, Miller and Baker, Odell Mills, near Bedford, with whom he was living on licence from the Bedfordshire Reformatory. £ 1 reward will be paid for his apprehension. Stolen from a dwelling- house in Newport Pagnell: one Half- Sovereign ; a gold Ring, engraved inside ' Iu Memory of Sarah Compton, died May 6th, 1864, aged 21 Years'; a ; small gold Pm ; and a small silver Pencil- case ; the property l of Thomas Kilpin, of Newport Pagnall. By a tramping , tailor, who had worked for Mr. Thomas Kilpin about six , weeks, and absconded on the 4th instant. He stated he came . from Manchester, 19 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, fair complexion, grey eyes, light sandy hair, slight figure, marked ' W. L.' on left arm ; dressed in a dark suit, black billycjck hat, and elastic- side boots. At the coroners ! inquest a verdict of ' Wilful Murder' against some person or persons unknown was returned. HISCOCK. charged on a warrant with uttering and ( forging on the 14th ultimo, a Cheque for £ 18 10a, onithe Shaftesbury Branch of the Wilts aud Dorset Bank : he is about 29 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark brown hair, very thin on the top, email whiskers and moustache. He stated that he belonged to Somerset House, resided near Russell- square, Bloomsbury, aud was sent out by the Govern- ment inspecting nuisances in different districts. Absconded from Old Hill, Rowley Regis, Staffordshire, charged with stealing £ 1 7s. from the person of Thomas Jones, at Old Hill, on the 23rd ultimo : a man, about 43 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, light brown hair, sandy whiskers, upper lip aud part of chin sh - ved ; dressed in white slop, moleskin trousers, soft black billycock hat, and lace- up boots ( uearly new). He has a relative living iu Birmingham, and has been working iu brick yards as a labourer, and driving a horse aud cart. Has recently been employed in brick yards at Halesowen and Oldbury, near Birmingham. Stolen from the dwelling- house of Mr. T. Elderkin, Little Houghton Mills : 5 lady's gold Rings, one diamond, set with 6 or 7 stones, oneof them out at the end ; one buckle, with two red stones in centre ; one with 5 turquoise stones, set in half circle ; one with 3 rubies and 2 diamonds, set in halt- circle, engraved inside the hoop ' In Memory of T, J. G., 1869'; one with 3 emeralds and 2 opals, in half circle. A pair of gold Earrings, set with turquoise stones. A small gold Locket, with blue enamel. An oval- shaped ivory Brooch, with a figure of a head in centre. A set of 3 Studs, made from small gold Egyptian coins. Two Chinese Coins, made iuto sleeve studs. Two dessert Spoons, two dessert Forks, two table Forks, two tea Spoons, two salt Spoons, with gilt bowls," all electro- plated. All the plated articles are marked with the initials ' T. E.' Two pairs of Nut Crackers, not marked. A sealskin Jacket, much worn. By a man giving. the nauie of WILLIAM STEVENSON, from London, who was employed there painting and paper- hanging, and absconded on the 28th ultimo. He is about 32 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, slight sandy whiskers and moustache, fresh complexion, slender build, scar on top of breast bone near the throat, which he says was caused by a slab by a woman at Malta; dressed in pepper and salt coloured billycock hat, dt. rk coat and trousers, aud white silk neckerchief. He is very active and smart in appearance. Information to be given to Superintendent Poole, Welling- borough, or to Inspector Williamson, Connfy Police Station, Northampton, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— — Bm- street, September 6. Absconded from Berwick- upon- Tweed, charged with stealing a Jacket ( recovered) ou the 26th ultimo : a man, from 40 to 50 years of age, 5 teet 11 inches high, stout make, dark complexion, bair, whiskers, and moustache ; dressed in a loose blue coat, light coloured trousers, mended on kueeo, soft felt bat, and of dirty appearance. Information to be given to Head Constable Garden, Berwick- upon- Tweed.— Bow- street, September 4. Absconded, charged on a warrant with stealing from an unoccupied house at Ore, the property of the Rev. W. T. , Turner: 3 Gasburners, and 4 Chandeliers ( recovered), i EDWARD LEE, a gipsy, well known in Kent and Sussex,! 18 or 19 years of age, 5 feet 1 or 2 iuches high, dark com- j plexioD, hair, and eyes, rather stout figure. He sometimes collects rags and bones ; dressed iu black hard round hat, rusty black cloth j icket, dark trousers. HENRY MELLISH is in custody on the above charge, 17 or 18 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, dark complexion, hair, and eyes, slight figure. He is a rag aud bone collector; dressed iu white billycock hat, btown coat, white slop under, black vest, grey trousers. Information to be given to Superintendent Jeffery, Guestling, or at any Police Station in East Sussex.— Bow- street, September 4, Stolen from a stable at Dethic, on the morning of tbe 30th ultimo : a pilot cloth Jacket, turned brown from exposure and wear, two buttons on front, one brass, the other black bone, red and black striped lining, and the seam on the top of left shoulder unstitched. By a tramp, who had been as- sisting in the harvest field : about 40 years of age, 6 feet high, light complexion, rather stout, no whiskers or mous- tache, small tuft of hair on chin, and bald on top of head ; dressed in a dirty slop, old striped vest, old cotton cord trousers, clogs ( oue cut iu front,), and without stockings. He was seen iu Derby ou the morning of the 31st ultimo wearing the fctolen jacket. He will probably call at railway works or upon farmers for employment. Information to be given to Superintendent Sharpe, Police Station, Wirksworth, Derby- shire.— Bow- street, September 4. Absconded from Bridpcrt oa the night of the 29th ult., charged with embezzlement: HARRY WINDSOR, a tele- graph clerk, about 22 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, fair complexion, light brown hair and whiskers, light sandy moustache, and of smart appearauce ; generally dressed in a dark plaid suit, brown stiff hat, sometimes wears a blue serge coat, large Albert chain aud gold locket attached, large gold linger ring, and a green scarf pin, horse- shoe pattern. He is in company with a youth s bout 18 years of age, 5 feet 2 ins. high, fair complexion, and full face; aud will probably endeavour to go to America from London, Liverpool, or Bristol. Information to be given to Superiutendent MacHale, Beaminster, Dorset.— Bm- street, September 4. Charged with stealing, on the llth ult., a Dress, a Smock Frock, 3 Chemises, 2 Nightdresses, a pair of Drawers, a Shawl, and 2 Sheets, the property of Phoebe King, of Thame : JOHN HARDING, 14 years of age, about 5 feet high, light brown hair, slender figure ; dressed in grey cap. black cloth coat, grey trousers, side- spring boots ( much too large for him), all very dirty aud much worn. Information to be given to Inspector Hawtiu, Police Station, Thame, Oxon, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, September 4. Absconded on the 28th ult., from Stafford, charged with stealing £ 15 the monies of Mr. Mousley, his master : THOS. BARTLETT, a grocer's warehouseman, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, brown hair, pale face, thin beard, medium build, aud knock- kneed ; dseased in dark blue over- coat, light grey trousers, black billycock bat, strong lace- up boots. He formerly lived with grocers at Brierlay Hill, Darlaston, and Oakengates. He has been twice to America, and will probably try to go there again. On'the 30th ultimo a letter was received from him bearing the Rugby postmark. Information to be given to Inspector Hackney, Guildhall, Stafford, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, September 4. Stolen from a drawer in a bedroom of the ' George' hotel, Middlesborough, during the night of tbe 29th ultimo : about £ 3 in Silver ; a lady's gold Geneva Watch, Stiffell, Geu6ve, No 3973, gold dial, black figures, flowered back, and has a horse engraved in centre of outer ctse, and ' H. M. R.' engraved ou iuner case, lad attached a long gold Guard, rouud and small pattern ; atno a gold pencil Case ; a small gold Heart; an oval Locket, with photograph of a gentle- man inside ; and one gold Key, with two stones, oue ot them dark red aud the other drab. By a man who lodged in the house on the above night, and absconded the next morning, about 2S or 30 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 iuches higb, pale complexion, no whiskers, small light moustache, and light hair; dressed in long grey coat, with. brown velvet collar, grey and black checked trousers, brown hat, and has a white muffler with him. I September 6 or ,7 iuches high, dark » mo » v.. — shaved, very stout, and of gentlemanly appearance ; supposed to be a native of Charlbury, in Oxfordshire, and has relatives residing at Evesham and Swindon, Wilts. Information to light brown cloth trousers, elastic- side boots. He says he is a native of Drogheda, Ireland, that he has been a soldier, and has lately worked in Liverpool as a ship's carpenter. On the 5th : a youth's blue cloth Overcoat, frock shape, two pockets in laps behind, one inside left breast, black cloth buttons, double- breasted, and blaek velvet collar ( was for- merly a police overcoat and had beed turned). By a woman, who had lodged in the house about a fortnight, 19 years of age, dark brown hair, fair complexion, and is supposed to be wearing the stolen clothes, as she left her own behind.
