During the night of the 27th instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. William Godderidge, Lichfield- street, Tamworth, was broken and entered, and stolen therein; a pair of sewed plain lace- up Boots, man's size, No. 7, round toes, fronts all one piece, white eyelet- holes, lined with leather, and quite new ; and a quantity of cooked Meat. About 9 a. m. on the J28th ultimo the dwelling- house of John Garner, of Sutton Marsh, was broken and entered, and two pairs of strong lace Boots stolen therein, one pair recovered, nearly new, and has heel- plates and half toe- plates. By a man about 19 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, fresh complexion, light brown hair, and. very little whiskers; dressed in brown cloth coat and vest, brown trousers with a narrow stripe, dark soft cloth cap, peak of same material, blue serge shirt, and clogs. He was supposed to be wearing the stolen Boots, and carried a small bundle, tied up in a blue guernsey, and is supposed to be a fisherman. Between 1 and 5 p. m. on the 30th ultimo, the cottage of George Hornby, Ruston Parva, East Riding, was broken into by taking out the window, and £ 2 3s. in Gold and Silver, and a silver lever Watch, No. 39145, stolen. On the 1st instant, the dwelling- house of George Danes, of Bapehild, near Sittingbourne, was broken into, and stolen therein: an old- fashioned metal hunting Watch, No. 578, maker Charles Vinson, Coventry ; a long German silver Guard attached ; a patent lever Geneva Bilver Watch, glass a little loose, long silver Guard attached; and a pair of heavy lace- up Boots, nearly new. By a man, about 60 years of age, middle height, whiskers turning grey, very dirty appearance; dressed in monkey jacket, white trousers, light cap, with and were pledged by a man of the following description : about 30 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, very sallow complexion, slightly pockmarked, very thin face, brown hair and whiskeis, slender make, and speaks with a Scotch accent; dressed in dark coat, trousers and cap, very dirty, red and black ( new) woollen scarf, light grey Shetland socks, and wearing the stolen Shirt and Boots, Stated that his wife was residing in Glasgow. Stolen by means of house- breaking, from the dwelling- house of Joseph Scott, at Linwood, on the 16th instaut : a pair of grey cloth Trousers, with a narrow black stripe, lined with white cilico, black iron buttons, fall front, and bound with red braid over the watch pocket ; a r. ew black leather Purse, lined with washleather, partition inside, and brass clasp, Is. 9d, Silver ; a Penknife, with white baft, two blades at one end ; about l) s lb. of cooked Bacon ; and about 2 lbs. of Bread. Supposed by two men of the following description: one is a slater, 44 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, and little dark whiskers round the face ; dressed in dark clothes and soft billycock hat; carries a bag with slater's tools in it; the other is a labourer, 47 years of age, about 5 feet 5 inches high, and sandy hair; dressed in a dark shirt and vest, yellow trousers, and cap, aud no coat. Absconded, charged on a warrant with stealing from an unoccupied house at Ore, ths property of the Rev. W. T. Turner : 3 Gasburners, and 4 Chandeliers ( recovered). EDWARD LEE, a gipsy, well known in Kent and Sussex, 18 or 19 years of age, 5 feet 1 or 2 inches high, dark com- plexion, hair, and eyes, rather stout figure. He sometimes collects rags and bones ; dressed in blaek hard round hat, ! rusty black cloth jacket, dark trousers. HENRY MELLISH j is ia custody on the above charge, 17 or 18 years of age, ! 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, dark complexion, hair, and eyes, ' slight figure. He is a rag and bone collector; dressed in white billycock hat, brown coat, white slop under, black vest, grey trousers. WILLIAM TREVETT, a clerk and lace salesman, who is charged on a warrant with embezzlement, as advertised in the Police Gazette of the 16th June, 1875, is still at large, but the £ 20 reward offered for his apprehension has been withdrawn.— Bow- street, September 4. He Wits seen in Derby on the morning of the 31st ultimo wearing the stolen jacket. He will probably call at railway works or fjg'farmeis for employment. Information to be given to lerintendent Sharps, Police Station, Wirksworth, Derby- shire.— Bow- street, September 4, Absconded from Bridport OH tbe night. of the 29th. ult., charged with embezzlement: HARRY WINDSOR, a tele- graph clerk, about 22 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, fair complexion, light brown hair and vhiskers, light sandy moustache, and of smart appearance; generally dressed in a dark plaid suit, brown stiff bat, sometimes wears a blue serge ccii^, large Albert ehain* and gold locket attached, large gold linger ring, and a green scarf pin, horse- shoe pattern. He is in company with a youth bout 18 years of age, 5 feet 2 ins. high, fair complexion, and full face ; and will probably endeavour to go to America from London, Liverpool, or Bristol. Charged with stealing, on the 11th ult., a Dress, a Smock Prock, 3 Chemises, 2 Nightdresses, a pair of Drawers, r Shawl, and 2 Sheets, the property of Phoebe King, of Thame JOHN HARDING, 14 years of age, about 5 feet high, light brown hair, slender figure ; dressed in grey cap. black cloth coat, grey trousers, side- spring boots ( much too large for him) all very dirty aLd much worn. Information to be given to Inspector Hawtin, Police Station, Thame, Oxon, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, September 4. Absconded on the 28th ult., from Stafford, charged with stealing £ 15 the monies of Mr. Mousley, his master : THOS. BARTLETT, a grocer's warehouseman, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, brown hair, pale face, thin beard, medium build, and knock- kneed ; dressed in dark blue over- coat, light grey trousers, black billycock hat, strong lace- up boots. He formerly lived with grocers at Brierley Hill, Darlaston, and Oakengates. He has been twice to America, and will probably try to go there again. On the 30r, h ultimo a letter was received from him bearing the Rugby postmark. Information to be given to Inspector Hackney, Guildhall, Stafford, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, September 4. Stolen from a drawer in a bedroom of tbe ' George' hotel, Middlesborough, during tbe night of the 29th ultimo : about £ 3 in Silver ; a lady's gold Geneva Watch, Stiffell, Geneve, No. 3973, gold dial, blaek figures, flowered back, and has a horse engraved in centre of outer crse, and ' H. M. R.' engraved on inner case, had attached a long gold Guard, round and small pattern ; also a gold pencil Case ; a small gold Heart; an oval Locket, with photograph of a gentle- man inside ; and one gold Key, with two stones, one ot them dark red and the other drab. By a man who lodged iu the house on the above night, and absconded the next morning, about 28 or 30 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, pale complexion, no whiskers, small light moustache,- ai d light hair; dressed in long grey coat, with brown velvet collar, grey and black checked trousers, brown hat, aud has a white muffle:}, with him. He states that he was a skate dancer. Information to be given to Chief Constable Saggerson, Police Office Middlesborough.—•- Bow- street, September 4. _ f, ecl from Aston, near Birmingham, charged on a b. h embezzling various sums of Money belonging ^^ Thomas Emery, a metal roller, his employer : _ , v » lD GILLOTT, a clerk, about 35 yeara of age, 5 feet - inches high, dark whiskers and moustache,, chin clean shaved, vtvy stout, and of gentlemanly appearance ; supposed to be a native o£ Charlbury, in Oxfordshire, and has relatives residing at Evesham and Swindon, Wilts. Information to be . given fto Superintendent Gallaway, Police Office, Aston, near Birmingham, Warwickshire.— Bow- street, September 1. Stolen' from a dwelling- house at Wyham, on the 22nd ultimo, the property of John Gladdon : a brown cloth Over- coat, with black velvet collar, lined with brown alpaca, a breast pocket outside, and a pocket on each side without flaps, and slightly worn round the cuffs; a black ribbed cloth Coat and Vest, - with black velvet collar ; two pairs of black cloth Trousers, all nearly new ; and a black satin Vest, with black jean sleeves, much worn. Supposed by two harvest men, who had the appearance of navvies : one about 5 feet 9 inches high, very red face, and short hair. The other is about 28 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, and of dirty appearance; both dressed in drab slops, with large collars, and fustian trousers ; the tall man wore a grey cap, with check band round it, and carried a bundle in a drab slop. A scythe was left near the house, wrapped in a piece of old sacking. Information to be given to Superintendent Thorsby, Louth, Lincolnshire.— Bow- street, September 1. Stolen by means of housebreaking, from the dwelling- house of Miss Martha Cotterill, Holyhead- road, Handsworth, between 9 and 10 am. on the 31st ultimo : a youth's black cloth ribbed suit of Clothes, the jacket single- breasted, with two pockets outside, and covered buttons, and left open a little up the sides, the trousers are fly fronts, with black metal buttons, with ' E. A. Butler, High- street,' round outside, and have been darned inside legs at bottoms ; a pair of lady'skid ^ leather Boots, square toes, No. 5 size, the elastic is worn ; a ladies violet corded silk Dress, trimmed with black and white military braid, lined with white calico, three small moth holes just below the pocket, much worn ; two jet Brooches, small size ; a gold plated Brooch, with stones in ; a small square Needle- case, with red top; and a few old foreign Coins. Supposed by three tramps, who were afterwards seeu going in the direction of Wolverhampton, carrying a white bundle, Bhabbily dressed in old dark clothes, and billycock hats; one of them walked lame, and had a hump on his back, all middle aged. Information to be given to Sergeant Steele, Police Station, Handsworth, Birmingham. — Bow - street, September 1. Absconded from Ipswich on the 10th ultimo, charged with stealing a woman's plaid Shawl ( since recovered) : EDWARD ROLLSON, a labourer, about 31 years of age, 5 feet 6£ inches high, brown hair, blue eyes, lost sight of right eye, ruddy complexion, scar on right breast aud on right cheek, blue dot back of right hand and two ditto back of left hand. Will probably seek employment with brick- layers. Information to be given to Head Constable Mason, Police Office, Town Hall, Ipswich, Suffolk, who holds a war- rant for his apprehension.— Bone- street, September 1. Description of WILLIAM HUTCHINSON, coachman or cab driver, charged under warrant with stealing a Saddle ( recovered) : he is about 27 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, light brown hair, slight whiskers, and round face ; sup- posed dressed in light mixture cloth jacket and trousers, tight, black billycock hat, and lace- up boots. He is known at Manchester, Preston, Wigan, Birmingham, and Harrogate. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, Town Hall, Oldham, Lancashire.— Bow- street, September' 1. Description of GEORGE THOMPSON, who absconded on the 28th ultimo, chcrfged with embezzling the sum of £ 300, the monies of his employers, Messrs. La Coste and Strikeman, Bankers, Chertsey : he was a clerk, is from 37 to j 40 years of age, 5 feet 4' or 5 inches high, dark brown hair | ( turning slightly grey), moustache, and whiskers, shaves ou chin; dresses ( usually) in black cloth frock coat, grey vest and trousers, high black hat. Has relatives residing at Bow. Information to be given to Superintendent Bungard, Surrey Constabulary, Chertsey, who holds a warrant for his appre- hension.— Bow- street, September 1.
