Absconded on the 1st instant, charged on a warrant with forgery, and stealing £ 250 : WM. M. WHITTAKER, 28 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, pale complexion, black moustache, small whiskers, and has a scar on one cheek, near the eye ; dressed in dark clothes, and of respectable appear- ance ; he is supposed to be accompanied by a young woman, with a brown tin trunk, and a black trunk, studded with brass nails. They will probably endeavour to emigrate. A reward of £ 20 is offered for the apprehension and convic- tion of the offender. Charged witli forgery, at Chester, by altering a post- office order from Is. 6d, to £ 4 Is. 6d., with intent to defraud EDWARD ROBETTS, 30 years of age, 5 feet 9J inches high, sandy hair, fair complexion, last known residence, Liverpool, formerly a clerk, and lately employed by the Pacific Steam Company, Birkenhead ; he is a native of and his wife and family reside at Mold, Flintshire ; dressed in a suit of grey tweed, and soft tweed wide- awake hat; has lost one or two upper front teeth. Stolen from the person on the night of the 22nd instant, in Prestcn : a gold patent lever Watch, cream- coloured, dial, and centre seconds. Between 11 p. m. 24th and 5' 30 a. m. on the 25th ultimo, Swynnerton Grange Farm, near Stone, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : £ 3 in Gold, 7s. in Silver, a sealskin Purse, and a pair of lady's kid side- spring Boots ; the property of Mr. Albert Barlow. Between 5 and 9 p. m. on the 29 th ultimo, a ottage at Barnett Gate, near Eynsham, Oxon, was broken and entered and stolen therein : a cord Jacket with fustian back and sleeves ; a brown cloth Vest, a Cap ; and an old verge Watch with brass- cases. Supposed by a tramping labourer, about 30 years of age, about 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, and stoutly made. Supposed to be wearing the stolen clothes. Between the hours of 12 midnight on the 22nd and 5 m. on the 23rd instant, the house of Mr. John Dover, the Railway Tavern, Princes Risborough, was broken into, and £ 38 in Gold, Silver and Copper Moneys ; 1 Box of Cigars ; and 2 quartern Bottles of Spirits stolen therein. Betweent8 p. m. on the 22nd, and 7 a. m. on the 24th instant, the office at the Cannock Chase Foundry, Hednesford, was broken into, and £ 12 3s. 6J. in Gold and Silver ; a small pick cash Bag, bearing the words ' District Bank, Cannock,' containing 4s. in new Bronze Coins; the propelty o| Frederick Bradley and Co., were stolen therein. Information to be given to Superintendent Hill, Police Station, Brownhills, near Walsall, or to Police Constable Cockerell, Police Station, Hednesford, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, July 26. carriage Horse, 15 hands 3 inches high,[ 6 years old, a white spot on the forehead, and a little white on one hind foot. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Taylor, Constabulary Office, Bulman Village, Northumberland.— Bow- street, August 2. Supposed to have been stolen from a field at Llanunda, on the night of 25th ultimo. : a chesnut Mare, 6 years old. about 14 hands high, large white streak down forehead, and a little white on hind legs. Information to be given to Sergeant Evans, Fishguard, or to the Chief Constable's Offices, Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire.— Bovj- street, August 2. Stolen on 25th ultimo : 2 small Pigs ( recovered). By a man, 30 years of age, 5 feet 5jinches high, very fair complexion, light hair, slight whiskers, few straggling hairs on chin, has a number of small lumps or sores under his chin ; dressed in black cloth frock coat, black cloth trousers, dark vest, lace- up boots ( each patched on outer side), dark cloth close- fitting cap with peak. Stolen near Brownhills on the 23rd instant, the property of Thomas Woodhouse, farmer : a brown cart Mare, aged, 16 hands high, lame on off fore foot, which has a round sh._ e on, long mane and tail, and in good condition. BRAMWELL, 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark brown hair, whiskers, and mouo ache,' inclined to be sandy, has lost the right leg and wears ->. wooden one; dressed in dark tweed jacket, corduroy trousers, black billycock hat, and new boot on left foot ; he is a native of Whittingten, near Lichfield. Stolen from a farm in the parish'of Worlington, Suffolk; the property of Mr. C. Wing : 16 Ewe Sheep, branded on middle of near side ' C. W.' in red paint. Stolen during the night of the 18th instant, from a field at Llanymynech : a small red Cow, aged, white face, and white along the back ; the property of Mr. L. Baugh, Llanymynech. StoleD from Colling Bourne, Kingston, Wilts, on the night of the 26 th instant, the property of Mr. Thomas Cole of South- grove Farm, parish of Burbage : twenty Lambs ( eleven Wethers, and nine Chilvers) not marked. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Stretten, Wilts Constabulary, Marlborough.— Bow- street, July 31. Stoleii from a field at Wylde Green, near Birminghan, on the 21st instant: two Shetland bay mare Ponies, about 10 hands high, 3 years old, switch tails, shaggy manes, and the letter ' M.' burnt on the forefeet. Information to be given to Superintendent Gallaway, Police Station, Aston, Birmingham.— Bow- street, July 31. Supposed to have been stolen from a field in the city of Lichfield, between the 22od and the 25th instant: an iron- grey Pony, 4 years old, 14 hands 1 inch high, has a recent kick mark on the near foreleg above the knee. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Hernaman, Lichfield, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, July 28. Absconded : ALFRED RUNNACLES, a journeyman butcher, charged on a warrant with stealing a Lamb, the property of John Tebbit, of Little Shelford, on the 14th instant : he is about 19 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 ins. high, stoutly built, rather round shoulders, fresh com- plexion, clean face, dark eyes, and brown hair ; dressed in plaid coat, light waistcoat and trousers, with butcher's slop over them, white straw hat, with blue ribbon, and lace- up boots; he is supposed to be a native of Colchester, and has worked at the Metropolitan Meat Market, near which he has some relatives living. Information to be giveu to Deputy Chief Constable Stretten, Cheaterton- road, Cambridge.— Bow- street, July 28. Stolen during the night of the 22nd instant, from a field at Days- lane, Black Fenn, Bexley : a black Russian Pony, 5 years old, 12 hands high, long tail, very small forelock, and in good condition. By three men ( with a dark brown horse and dirty cart), dressed in dark clothes and high hats.— — Metropoitan Police, R Division, July 28. Stolen on the 20th instant, from Prince's Livery Stables, Paddington : a bay Gelding, thick set, 15 bands 3 inches high, aged, rough legs, one white heel, bang tail, and in good con- dition ; also a set of plated Harness, with truniou front to bridle. By a mun, 40 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, and small light whiskers ; dressed in a black stable suit and high hat ; he is a jobbing coachman.— Metropolitan Police, X Di- vision, July 28. Absconded, charged with larceny : JAS. SUTCLIFFE, late of No. 82, Hackney- road, 65 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, florid complexion, clean shaved, and white hair; dressed in black frock coat and high black hat. A warrant is issued for his apprehension. — Metropolitan Polke, D Division, August 4. Stolen from the dwelling- house of Mr. John William Cattell, Innkeeper, New Duston, between 10 and 12 a. m. on the 31st ult.: a pair of drab- coloured Trousers, a pair of black and white check Trousers, both with raised seams, flaps, and brass buttons ; a black velvet Yost, a grey cloth Jacket, a black satin Test, a brown cloth Vest, 2 black billycock Hats ( one quite new), a pair of Braces with scarlet down the middle. One of the Jackets marked ' J. Ford, Northampton,' on the loop of the collar. The above articles were stolen by two gunners belonging to 16th Brigade Royal Horse Artilley, who left their uniforms in a field near Mr. Cattell's house, and are supposed to be wearing the stolen clothes. One is a labourer, a native of Gal way, 19 years of age, 5 feet 6J inches high, fresh complexion, hair and eyes dark brown, slender build. The other is a striker, from Stockport, 24 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, fresh complexion, light brown hair, grey eyes, slender build. Information to be given to Inspector Williamson, County Police Station, Northampton, or at any Police Office in Northamptonshire.— Bow- street, August 4. Stolen on the 22nd ultimo, from the Station Hotel, Churchfields, Acton: 16 Pyramid Balls, fifteen red, one white ; 1 red Pool Ball; and 5 Billiard Balls, four white, one red. By a man, 20 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, dark, slight dark moustache, and heavy eyebrows ; dress, supposed light suit.— Metropolitan Police, X Division, August 2. Absconded on the 29th ult., from No. 20, Haymarket, St. James's, stealing ,£ 122 0s. 6d. : a youth, 19 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark complexion, hair, and eyes; dressed in a brown tweed mourning suit and black felt hat. Friends reside at Westminster.— Metropolitan Police, C Division, Augst 2. Description of a man charged with stealing at Black- pool, on the 17th ultimo, a set of Harness ( recovered): .32 years of age, about 5 feet 5 inches high, stout build, sallow complexion, dark hair, whiskers, and moustache ; dressed in a suit of dark tweed. Carries a leather bag, with strap over his shoulder, and wore a low- crotvned felt hat. He is a saddler. Information to be given to Superintendent Stafford, Police Station, Kirkham, Lancashire.— Bom- street, August 2. Absconded on the 25th instant, charged on a warrant with stealing £ 62 in Bank of Scotland Notes; the property of his employers Messrs. John Cree, jun. & Gem p., stationers, Exchange- sq. : JAMES MILLS, a clerk, about 16 yrs. of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, stout make, dark brown curly hair, and very swarthy complexion ; dressed in dark tweed suit, black felt hat, stiOng lace boots, and speaks with Scotch accent. Absconded on the 24th instant, embezzling £ 50, the Moneys of the Secretary to the Tower Subway Company : a man 34 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, fair complexion, brown hair, whiskers and moustache ; supposed to be dressed in black cloth suit, and high black hat.— Metropolitan Police, M Division, July 31. Further information respecting the property stolen from the dwelling- house of Robert Bryant, Stoke Hammond, as advertised in the Police Gazette of the 17th instant: £ 5 reward will be paid to any person who will give sui h infor- mation as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender and recovery of the remainder of the property. Description of two tramps, charged with stealing Brushes ( recovered) on, thejiJSrd instant, from Llnynderw, near Welsh- pool : one is about 30 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, slightly built, pale complexion, little light sandy moustache, and hair on chin ; dressed in old black cloth trousers, torn at bottom, old brown or drab coat and oap. The other is about 30 years of age, stoutly built, dark complexion, and black moustache; dressed in old/ dark clothes, and red flannel shirt. It is supposed that they have gone toward South Wales. Information to be given to Superintendent Ellis, Welshpool, Montgomeryshire.— Bow- street, July 31. Absconded from Nottingham, on the 24th instant, charged with embezzlement: ADOLPHUS STEVONS, late clerk in the Nottingham Borough Police Force, 34 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches high, sallow complexion, grey eyes, brown • hair, small whiskers and moustache, chin shaved, rather long neck, walks very erect, proportionate male, slight impedi- ment in his speech when excited, and blinks his eyes when talking. He is a native of Hamburg, speaks with a German accent, and walks quickly ; dressed in dark frock coat and light trousers, and generally wears a high hat. Information to be given to Chief Constable Poyntz, Nottingham, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, July 28. Stolen on the 23rd instant, from a dwelling- house, in Preston : a leather ' Purse, containing £ 3 10s. in Gold and 7s. 6d. in Silver. By a woman, a lodger, about 21 years of age, very little and pregnant; she calls herself Mrs. Hamilton, and is an actress. Information to be given to Head Consta- ble Oglethorpe, Borough Police Station, Preston, Lancashire. — Bow- street, July 28. Stolen from the bedroom of a dwelling- house in Preston since the 16th instant: £ 10 in Gold, by a lodger. A man, 29 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark hair, hazel eyes, fresh complexion, and a labourer ; dressed in navvy clothing. Information to be given to Head Constable Oglethorpe, Borough Police Station, Preston, Lancashire.— Bow- street, July 28. Description of REUBEN WELCH, charged on a war- rant with obtaining a Pony and Gig ( by false pretences) at Luton, on the 27th instant : about 26 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, swarthy complexion, dark brown curly hair, grey eyes, ring on third and scars on first and fourth fingers left hand, fourth finger right hand crippled, and has lost an upper front tooth. He is accompanied by a man about 30 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, proportionate build, dark eomplexion, rather weak eyes, dark brown hair, and clean shaved; dressed in a brown soft felt hat, white slop, dark trousers, paper collar, blue necktie, and military boots with the spur holes pegged up. The pony is about 12 hands high, bay or brown, rather over at. tiie knees, and white star on forehead; the wings of the gig have been roughly mended, a piece of brass on the top of the dash board, and the wheels. lined with white. It is supposed that they will endeavour to leave England. Information to be given to Superintendent Tydeman, Police Station, Luton, Bedfordshire.— Bow- street, July 31. IEAID3 All AGGRAVATED Deseription of DAVID EVANS, a draper, Hit probably now hawking books, charged with obtaining a Bible by false pretence at Oswestry, on the 22nd ultimo : about 40 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, fresh complexion, full face, dark hair, no whiskers or moustache, and generally wears spectacles; dressed in dark jacket, vest and trousers, and hard low hat. He booked a few days ago by the London and North Western Railway for Manchester. Description of GEORGE ATKINS, committed for trial for larceny, at the next Gensral Quarter Sessions, at Oxford, on the 10th instant : 38 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, fresh eomplexion, light grey eyes, dark brown hair, cross cupped on small of back, both sides, and a email wart on right side of mouth. He was Boots at an hotel, and states that he was born at Hayles, Gloucestershire. ; Information to be given to Superintendent Head, Police Office, Oxford. Bow- street, August 4. On the morning of the 31st ultimo the body of a male child from 10 days to a fortnight old was found in the canal about a mile from Bradford, and is supposed to have been in the water from 6 to 12 hours. States that he has no friends; has light brown hair, grey eyes, light brown eyebrows, large hooked nose, regular mouth, fresh complexion, thin oval visage, slender make, 5 feet 8J inches high, mole on left eyebrow, and ' M. M'S ' tattooed on right arm. He was released from Lusk Convict Prison on May 6, 1876, and took his discharge for Dublin. It is supposed he has gone to England.
