Charged with forgery, at Chester, by altering a post- office order from Is. 6d. to £ 4 Is. 6d., with intent to defraud: EDWARD ROBERTS, 30 years of age, 5 feet 9£ inches higb, sandy hair, fair complexion, last known residence, Liverpool, formerly a clerk, and lately employed by the Pacific Steam Company, Birkenhead ; he is a native of and his wife and family reside at Mold, Flintshire ; dressed in a suit of grey tweed, and soft tweed wide- awake hat; has lost one or two upper front teeth. A warrant has been granted for his apprehension. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, Town Hall, Chester.— Bow- street, July 26. Description of EDWARD VILLIERS, who is charged with obtaining £ 10, by means of a forged Cheque, on the 3rd instant: 30 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, fair com- plexion, brown hair and moustache, blue eyes, and scars on back of neck; dressed ia black coat, grey trousers, and black deerstalker hat. He is a deserter from 20th Hussars. Infor- mation to be given to Chief Superintendent Bond, Police Office, Birmingham, who holds the warrant for his apprehen- sion.— Bow- street, July 24. Stolen from the person of Robert Bratherton, at Lancas- ter, on the 14th instant : a silver lever Watch, No. 1093, maker Thomas Russel, Lancaster, aud had a silver Guard attached. Also stolen from the person of James Clark, on the 22nd instant: a silver Geneva Watch, No. 21515. Stolen from the person in Brighton, on tho 19th instant: an English lever hunter Watch, by ' Patient,' of 177, Brompton- road, W, iu gold cases, No. 17933. HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING Stolen from Berry Hall, Solihull, on the 20th ultimo : a brown cob Pony, about 13 hands high, 7 years old, with one white fore foot, star on forehead, and a recent scar over right eye. Information to be given to Superintendent Gallaway, Police Station, Aston, or to Acting Inspector Armishaw, Police Station, Solihull, Warwickshire.— Bo'jj- street, July 26, Further information respecting the horse described in the Police Gazette of the 19th instant, as supposed to have been stolen fioin a field at Stafford : it is supposed to have been taken away by a man who tramps about the country, a labourer, aud a native of Derbyshire or Shropshire, about 47 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, light hair, bald on top of head, long features, medium build, shaves all round, and has a rough voice; dressed in white straw hat, with black ribbon, black second- hand jacket and vest, new dark plaid trousers, and strong lace- up boots. Mr. Moss will give £ 5 reward on conviction of the offender or offenders, and recovery of the horse. Information to be given to Inspector Hackney, Guild Hall, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, July 26. Stolen on the night of the 14th instant, from a field at Doynton : a mare Donkey, very light brown colour with a white belly, has a small saddle mark, a hole in the hoof of one fore foot, and a scar under the tail ; flie property of William Ford, newsvender, of Doynton. Information to be given to Superintendent Rawle, Fishponds, or to Sergeant Davis, Pucklechurch, near Bristol, Gloucestershire.— Bow street, July 26. Stolen from & field at Ackland, near Middlesborough, during the night of the 20th instant ; the property ot Mr. Stephen Neesam, farmer : a black horse Pony, 3 years old, 14 hands high, white star on foreheid, near hind fetlock a little white, tail cut square, and in good condition. Stolen from Reach Farm, Bishop's Nympton, Devon, during the night of tbe 19th instant : 0 Sheep, shorn and not marked, except an horned ewe which has ' J. H.' on the horn; also 0 Lambs, not shorn, and marked ' J. H.' on each side. They were very fat and are supposed to have been slaughtered and sent with the skins to the London Market. Between the hours of 12 midnight on the 22nd and 5 a. m. on the 23rd instant, the house of Mr. John Dover, the Railway Tavern, Princes Risborough, was broken into, and £ 38 iu Gold, Silver and Copper Moneys ; 1 Box of Cigars ; aud 2 quartern Bottles of Spirits stolen therein. Information to be given to the Superintendent of Police, Aylesbury, or to Sergeant Chilton, Princes Risborough, Bucks.— Bow- street, July 26. Between 8 p. m. on the 22nd, and 7 am. on the 24th instant, the office at the Cannock Chase Foundry, Hednesford, was broken into, and £ 12 3a. 6d. in Gold and Silver ; a small pink cash Bag, bearing the words ' District Bank, Cannock,' containing 4s. in new Bronze Coins ; the propeity of Frederick Bradley and Co., were stolen therein. Between 12 p m, on the 19th and G a. m. on the 20th inst. twe dwelling- house of William Medlicott, grocer, Talgarth, was burglariously entered and stolen therefrom : two small Mouey Boxes, the one bearing the inscription ' Wesleyan Missionary Box,' containing 3s. 4d , the other plam, contain- ing 3d. ; alao two small blue Books, oue entitled ' Lessons from Noble Life,' other ' Cassy,' ' William Medlicott' written on title- pi> ge of each book. Absconded from Middlesborough, charged with stealing £ 10: a German, shoemaker, but has lately worked with pork butchers as a sauaage maker, 22 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches higb, fresh complexion, dark hair, cut short, and slender figure ; dressed iu a short brown jacket, bound with green braid, body hat, or a black alpaca cap, high in the crown ; he had with him a black leather bag. Information to be given to Chief Constable Saggerson, Middlesborough, Yorkshire.-— Bow- street, July 26. Absconded from Queen- street, Railway Station, Exeter, on the 12th July, 1876, charged with embezzling £ 55 ; the property of the London and South Western Railway Com- pany : FRANCIS REEKS, chief booking clerk, about 26 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, light hair, whiskers and moustache, and shaved under the chin ; dressed in light clothes ami straw hat. He is a native of Lymington, Hants, aud was formeily a booking c] erk at Dorchester and Andover. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, Guildhall, Exeter, who holds a warrant for his apprehension. — Bow- street, July 26. Charged with embezzlement: SAMUEL LINLEY, a brewer's traveller, a native of Sheffield, 35 years of age, 5 ft. 8 or 9 inches high, fresh complexion, blue eyes, sandy hair, cut short, sandy moustache, slight sandy whiskers, finger nails cut very short; has served in the 12th Lancers ; he is accompanied by a young woman, about 21 years of age, medium build, fresh complexion, and dressed in black. Information to be given at the Central Police Office, Sheffield. — Bow- street, July 26. Further description of the tramping painter, charged with stealing a gold Watch from Ingress Abbey, Greenhithe, advertised IU Police Gazette of the 19th instant. By THOMAS HILL, alias LANGTON, alias SANGO, a car- driver, 22 years of age, about 5 feet 10 inches high, light hair, clean face, fresh complexion, and a little lame of right leg, as if suffering from corns; dressed in dark cloth coat, dark tweed trousers, light cloth cap, peak in front and back, and strong lace- up boots. He is a native of Matlock, Derby- shire, aud ia well known in Buxton and Soutbport. Description of a man charged with stealing a Pony ( recovered) from a field at Hinckley, on tbe 15th instant : tie is middle aged, about 5 feet 8 inches high, slender build, long face, large nose, and very little ( if anj) whiskers; dressed iu dark blue monkey jacket, torn behind one sleeve, dirty cord or drab cloth trousers, fitting tight to the legs, blucher boots, and soft black billycock hat. Information to be given to Inspector Chapman, Hinckley, Leicestershire.— Bow- street, July 21. same man; he is from 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, very little whiskers and is deaf ; dressed in painter's light suit, and light felt hat; a tattooed tomb- stone on one arm, aud ship aud flags on the other. Charged ou a warrant with embezzlement, at Ports- mouth, on the 3rd aud 4th instant: WILLIAM HENRY HARNETT, 36 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, slender thin sharp features, small crooked nose, sallow complexion, slightly round shouldered, small whiskers, aud dark hair, he speaks sharply, is very nervous, and holds his chin up ; dresaed in dark grey suit, and deerstalker hat. Stolen about 8.30 a. m. on the 24th instant, from a dwelling- house iu Stockport: a Paisley Shawl ( new) ; a tartan Scotch plaid Shawl ( uew); two pairs of women's elastic side Boots ( rivetted) ; a woman's Neckerchief, orange, red, brown aud black ; four calico Chemises ( new) ; three grey holland Aprons ( new) ; a woman's flaunel Petticoat ( new) ; a puce Dress with black lustre flounce ; a light printed Skirt ( nearly new) ; a striped green woollen Skirt ( puce, red and orauge); a blue and black Bonnet ; a large Basket ; and 5s. 6d. in Money. By a young woman who had been lodging in the houae a week, about 5 feet 1 inch high, dark complexion, thick lips, dark brown hair, and stout build. She was seen wearing the Bonnet and Paisley Shawl. Description of JOHN LANE, a carpenter and native of St. Alban's, charged with stealing on the 8th instaut from the slaughter- house of Mrs. Smith, butcher, of High- street, St. Alban's. 17lbs. of Beef ( recovered): 38 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, dark complexion, full face, dark brown hair and moustache, no whiskers, and stout built; d. eased in dark clothes, and black hard felt hat. He was last heard of near Leighton Buzzard, and is supposed to have gone to Fenny Stratford. Information to be given to the Head Constable, St. Alban's, Herts, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, July 24. Absconded on the 18th instant, from No. 29, Upper Gloucester- place, Marylebone, embezzling £ 15 : a man, 25 years of age, 5 feet high, slight moustache, and dark ; dressed in a white blouse, dark trousers, and black cap ; he is a porter.— Metropolitan Police, D Division, July 24. Absconded on the 20th instant, from No. 28, Gt. Sutton- painter, and sigti writer, from 45 to 50 years of age, about : 5 feet 6 inches high, dark hair and complexion, very littla I whiskers, lame, generally carries a stick, and is a native of London; was dresseofa old dark clothes, billycock hat, and old shoes. Watson, Lauder' ; a striped wincey Shirt, colours yellow, white aud brown; a dark check tweed cloth Cap with peak ; a pair women's large- size Boots, lacing, with brass eyelets, seven rows of small nails in soles, iron heel and toe plates. By DAVID ROBB, a labourer, a native of Dundee, 18 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, light brown hair, grey eyes, fair complexion, has tattoo marks on one of his wrists. He is a deserter from the Royal Navy ( see Police Gazette of 3rd May last). When last seen he was fully dressed in the stolen property and was tben going towards Edinburgh. Spoke of going to sea in the Merchant Service. A warrant has been granted for Robb's apprehension. Absconded from Usk, Monmouthshire, charged with stealing a chimney sweeper's Machine, two Cloths, aud a hand Brush; the property of his master, Thomas Williams, of Newport: GEORGE HARRIS, 28 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, aud has a mermaid tattooed on his right arm ; dressed in a white slop, a worsted jacket over it, black bowler hat, and militia boots ; has been in the Royal Marines, and ia now a Corporal iu the Hereford Militia. He will likely apply for work as a dresser of millstones in flour mills.
