MURDER AIB MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. About 12 30 a. m. on the 15th instant, a man, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, proportionately made, dressed in black clothes, and cap, shot at William Porter, a police constable, with intent to maim, or to do him some bodily harm. A warrant has been issued for the apprehen- sion of this man v. an attempt had been made to enter a house close to where the occurrence took place. Description of two men, charged with maliciously wounding Mr. John Farr, at Llanrothal, on the 1 ) th instant: PHILIP JONES, a charcoal burner, 33 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, stout make, dark hair, dark stubby whiskers and moustache, about, a tnonth's growth, and dark Missionary Box,' containing 3s. 4d , the other plain, contain- ing 3d. ; also two small blue Books, one entitled ' Lessons from Noble Life,' other ' Cassy,' ' William Medlicott' written on title- page of each book. Stolen by meanS of house- breaking on the 19ih instant: a blue cloth pilot Jacket, and a rough black cloth Waistcoat. Supposed by a tramp, about 30 years of age, and of middle size. Information to be given to Superintendent Gough, Oswestry, Salop.— Bow- st., June 21. Between 2 and 6 p. m. on the 12 th instant, the cottage of James Godsell, of Bredenbury, near Bromyard, was forcibly entered, and stolen therein : a lady silver Geneva Watch, No. 11436, maker Nicol, Geneve ; a dark cloth Riding Coat, interspersed with blue spots ; a pair of new cotton cord Trousers, chocolate colour ; and from 3 lbs. to 5 lbs of Bacon. Supposed by two tramps : one is about 30 years of age, 5 feet' 7 or 8 inches high, sandy whiskers and moustache, and wore a cap, light jacket or slop, and cord trousers ; the other is about 25 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, bare face, and dressed in a billycock hat and dark jacket. Between 2 and 7 a. m. on the 14th instant, a dwelling- house in Hull was broken into aad entered and stolen therein : a large- sized silver Tankard, ' T.' on one side and crest ( a mailed arm holding a broken spear), on tbe other may have the motto ' Tuebor'; a large- sized silver Taukard, engraved, ' From Alice Foster to John Hy. Thompson, 1818' : an old- fashioned Pepper Cruet with coat of arms; a pair of gold Spectacles; and the silver Tops of a Mustard and Pepper Box. i' 5 reward will be paid to' any person who shall give such information as will lend to the recovery of the property, or in proportion to the amount recovered, and apprehension of the offender or offenders, by Chief Constable Cook, Hull, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, Ju'y l7. Supposed stolen from a field at Forebridge, Stafford, between 7 - a. m., 16tb, and 7 a. m , 17t. h instant : a light chesnut cob Mare, 3 years old, about 13 hands high, long light- colour switch tail, hair rubbed off top, long light mane, small white star on forehead, in good condition, newly shod all round; the property of Mr. William Moss, Contractor, Stafford. Stolen from a field at Shipton, during the night of the 12t, h instant : a black half- bred Cart Mare, 6 years old, 14j hands high, brown muzzle aud flank, star on forehead, has been docked but tbe hair has grown long, iu good condi- tion, and has recently been shod ; the property of Mr. John Handy. Supposed by a, man 50 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches higb, and whiskers turning grey ; dressed iu a Scotch cap, dark velveteen coat with large pearl buttons, light waistcoat with two ro ws of pearl buttons, light breeches, brown leggings fitting tight, aud thick boots with toe caps ; be is a blacksmith. £ 5 reward will be paid by Mr. John Handy for information that" will lead to the recovery of the mare and conviction of the offender or offenders. ROBERT EASBY, charged with stealing one silver lever Watcb, No. 274- 21, maker Riper, Thirsk; one gold Geneva chronometer Watch, flowered back; and one small gold Geneva, No. 61915, and ' 37' scratched in inner case. He is 48 or 50 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet high, fresh complexion, supposed brown hair and dark moustache ; dressed iu dirty old clothes and black billycock hat. When he left Middlesbrough iu May last he had with him au old black satchel, in which he carried his working tools. Further description of JAMES GRIFFITHS, alias EY AN, a jockey, advertised iu the Police Gazette of the 10th instant, charged under a warrant with stealing Ducks : fair fresh complexion, very light brown hair, light grey eyes, oval face, good looking, scar under chin, mole near each elbow, ditto on left shoulder, and on breast; dressed in light grey tweed suit, wears sometimes a white scarf and pin, smart about the neck. He is very fond of talkiug about horses, aud his father is a jockey residing at Kington, Herefordshire, Information to bs given to Superintendent Dykes, Leominster, Herefordshire.— Bow- street, July 21. Stolen from Ingress Abbey, Greenhithe, on the 17th instaut; a large gold Geneva Watch, maker Bennett, Salis- bury ; glass cracked, aud a dark mark near the figures 7 and 8, with a black jet Neck- chain attached. By a tramping painter, from 40 to 60 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, dark complexion, hair aud moustache turning grey, and whiskers shaved off; dressed in blue jacket, light vest and trousers, aud black felt hat. Description of MARY ANN OWEN, a servant and native of Wellington, Salop, who absconded on the 12th instant, charged with stealiug £ 3 and a gold Ring, the pro- perty of her master : about 20 years of age, about 5 feet 3 inches higb, and stoutly built; dressed in white straw hat, brim turned up nearly all round and trimmed with black velvet, new snuff- colour tight fitting jacket, and brown skirt under, much worn, and elastic- side boots. She is sup- posed to be in Manchester, where she had previously lived, and left there about 6 months ago. Stolen on the 2nd ultimo from the Barracks, Hampton Court: a gold sight hunter Wateh ; a silver open face Watch, makers ' Cook and Villery, Calcutta.' on face; a grey Coat, black velvet collar ; a pair cf grey Trousers ; a black Coat and Vest; a deerstalker Hat; a black silk Umbrella, gold snake ou handle; three £ 5 Bauk of England Notes, and some Cheques. By a man, 30 years of ag<% 5 feet 8 inches high, fair complexion, brown hair and mousiacb*-, bltw eyes, scars from boils on back of neck ; supposed dressed iu the stolen clothes. Absconded on the 10th instant, from 144, Curtain- road, Shoreditcb, stealing ,£ 52 10s. : two men— one is 27 years of age, 6 feet a inches high, pale complexion, hair ( parted in the centre), whiskers, and moustache dark ; dressed iu black coat, dark trousers and vest, and high hat; the other is 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 iuches high, fresh complexion, aud light brown hair aud moustache ; dressed iu brown mixture suit and high hat.— Metropolitan Police, G Division, July 17. Absconded on the 11th instant, from South- place, St. Luke, embezzling £ 60 : a man, 27 years of age, 6 feet 5 inches high, pale complexion, aud light brown hair and moustache ; dressed in a light mixture overcoat, light trousers, and high black hat.— Metropolitan Police, G Division, July 17. Stolen between 2 and 3 pm. on the 13th instant, from a dwelling- house at Tunbridge Wells : two large silver Eoiks, two small ditto, two Dessert Spoons, and a Butter Knife, crest— a tree with a saw through it. A young man, with Roman nose, dark hair and eyes, dressed in dark coat, with trousers of a different colour, was disturbed while committing the above offence, and jumped through the window aud escaped. Absconded from Lewes : ALICE JUDD, about 20years of age, about 5 feet 4 inches high, ruddy complexion, good looking, ligbt hair, medium figure. Charged with stealing on the 2nd instant from No. 9, Albion- street, the property of her master Henry Curtis Card, a grey home- spun Dress, trimmed with brown braid, 3 Petticoats, 3 Chemises, 3 pairs of Drawers, marked ' J. B. E.'; a pair of cashmere button Boots, a sealskin Handbag, and nineteen Shillings. Previous to September, 1875, she lived at the Lock Hospital, Harrow- road, next at Chapel- street, Edgware- road, for two weeks, and on the 10th inStant : POKINA, alias MORRIS, a foreigner and carpenter, ahout 35 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches higb, proportionately builr., dark complexion, bair, whiskers and moustache ; dressed iu Scotch cap with buckle on side, dark cloth jacket, pockets at sides. Description of THOMAS BATE, a labourer, who has absconded from Clee Hill, Shropshire, ou the 4th iustaut, charged ou a warrant with beastiality : 18 years of age, 5 feet 6 iuches high, rather stout make, rouud shoulders, dark complexion, and long nose; dressed in black trousers and waistcoat, white slop, and black billycock hat. He ia not quite right in his mind. Information to be given to Superintendent Caswell, Church Stretton, Shropshire.— Bow- street, July 19. . Wanted, charged with obtaining £ 15 by false pretences from A. Evans. Esq., solicitor. Maldoti. Essex, on the 7th instant: CAPTAIN WALTER BRIDGE, of No. 5, Ripley - cottages. Castle Bar Hill, Ealing, Middlesex, 35 years of age, 5 feet 10 iucbes higb, rather thin, well made, dark ruddy complexion, dark hair, whiskers, and moustache, dark eyes and eyebrows, and rather good looking ; was dressed iu a grey plaid suit, aud hard felt bat. Information to be given to Head Constable King, Maldon, Essex, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— tiow- iireei, July 21. Charged on a warrant for obtaining £ 20. by fraud, in selling two worthless Horses : a man named FULLER, alias MEREDITH, 35 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark complexion and hair ; dressed iu dark clothes. 8 up posed residence Upper Moray- road, Finsbury Park.— Metropolitan Police, E Division, July 21. Absconded on the 14t, h instant ( charged with attempting to commit a criminal assault upon a girl under 14 years of I age, named Mary Mould, at Stafford) : WILLIAM HALL, ! about 43 years of age, 5 feet 5 irehes high, fresh complexion, black hair aud whiskers, no beard or moustache, rather round shoulders, thick lips, and Blight impediment in his speech ; dressed in hard billycock hat, dark shabby coat, white slop, and light corduroy trousers; has the appearance of a miller. He will likely apply for work as a dresser of millstones in flour mills. Information to be given to Superintendent Henderson, West Sussex Constabulary, Horsham.— Bow- street, July 21. Ou the evening of the llth instant, the Dead Body of a newly- born male infant Child, very much decomposed aud wrapped iu a piece of old black woollen or alpaca stuff, was found hy the side of the highway at West Mailing, near Maidstone, Kent. A Coroner's Inquest was held on the body on the 13th instaut, when the jury returned a verdict of ' Fouud Dead.' Information to be given to Superin- tendent Hulse, Kent Constabulary, West Malling.— Bow- stn July 21. Absconded from the Sunderland Boy's Industrial School, on the 10th instant : ARTHUR WM. GILENICK, 15 yrs. of age, 5 feet 3 iuches hii( h, light browu hair, dark eyes, ruddy complexion, heavy looking, blue mark between left forefinger and thumb, aud talks very fast; dressed iu cord troupers, cloth vest aud jacket, and glengarry cap. Is likely to go to London. Information to be given to Chief Constable Stainsby, Sunderland, Durham.— Snin n. reet, JvJ; y 21. Missing from his home, at Walsall, since the 15th inst. : DAVID MULLINS, a travelling draper, 42 years of age. 5 feet 11 inches high, thin, and light complexion, beard aud moustache; dressed in a dark tweed suit and black soft billycock hat. It is feared some ill has befallen him. Infor- mation to be given to the Chief Constable, Walisall, Stafford- shire.— Bom- street. July 21. Description of JAMES FOSTER, committed to Carlisle Gaol for 2 months, for larceny : about 41 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, blind iu right eye, light brown hair, Bandy moustache, no beard or whiskers, and of dissipated appear- ance ; dressed in old cord trousers and vest, old cloth cap, aud strong lace boots. He stated that he served 10 years in the 7th Hussars, and was discharged at Nottingham in March, 1864.
