ISotlce.— It is requested that all communications lor the purpose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolen property, may toeaar the Signature of the person requiring or sending the same, and all applications in inference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to the Editor, Police Court, Bow Street, London, W. C. Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the Fame is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, ail betters addressed to the Editor must fee prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. Hopley'; and a tenon Saw, marked ' J. Griffithes.' Information to be given to Superintendent Wilson, Tattenhall, or to Sergeant Bethell, Malpas, Cheshire.— Bow- street, April 10. Between 3 and 5 p. m. on the 4th instant, the dwelling- house of James Pickard, Roughey, Horsham, was entered by means of breaking a square of glass in the back kitchen window, and stolen therein : a gold albert Chain, with a Locket attached, ' In memory of'; a spade Guinea, date 1787; a Half Guinea ; a small diamond Seal; a lady's long gold Chain, square links ; a silver Pencil case, with the days of the week on the top ; six old silver Coins, on a ring ; a silver Toothpick; aud a Pen- knife, in the shape of a fox, with a silver head. Supposed by a man, about 23 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, light hair, little whiskers ; dressed in a dark coat and trousers, large at the bottom, and dark round soft felt hat; he had the appearance of having been a soldier. The above- mentioned man was from 35 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, The Horse, Harness, and Cant stolen from Hitchin, as advertised in the Police Gazette of the 3rd instant, have proportionately made, long faee, long thin nose, small dark eyes, cheek bones rather full, dark beard from lower side of face to and round the chin, dark long hair, brown skin as if j sun burned, round shouldered, and his neck sinking partly forward; dressed in a black billycock hat, with narrow brim, a dark mixture rough tweed cloth loose jacket, slit on hips, single- breasted, brown vest, dirty fustain or cloth troupers, worn at the bottoms, clogs worn down at sides, and leather on the top cut open. He walked rather lame. £ 100 reward will be paid by Her Majesty's Government to any person or persons who will give such information as shall lead to the discovery aud conviction of the murderer or murderers; and Mr. Secretary Cross will advise the grant of Her Majesty's gracious pardon to any accomplice, not being the person who actually committed the murder, who shall give such evidence as shall lead to the like result; and the Mayor and Members of the Corporation of the said borough will give a further reward of £ 100 to any such person or persons who shall give such information and evidence as aforesaid. Stolen on the night of the 7th July, 1875, from a field in Spit- lane, South Weald, the property of Mr. James Manning : a bay nag Mare, 8 years old, 16 hands high, small Bow- street, Ajyril 3. Absconded from South Shields, on the 24th ultimo, charged on a warrant with embezzlement : LUKE READFORD, a i brewer's clerk, 19 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fresh j complexion, oval face, good looking, dark brown hair, pro- ' portionate build ; dressed in a dark grey suit, and round ; felt hat. Id., the monies of Mary Ann Seaber, of Mildenhall, Suffolk : HENRY BARKER, a farm labourer, about 28 yea's of age, about 5 feet 6 inches high, light hair, small . whiskers ; dressed either in corduroy or dark cloth trousers with stripe, sleeved vest, and chummy hat; he is bunch- backed and fond of drink; he was at Cambridge on 31st ult. and took train for Nottingham. Has probably a new j coat on mivv, as he left his own at Ely with his mistress's horse and cart. Information to be given to Superintendent Smith, Ely, who holds a warrant lor nis apprehension.— white mark on near fore leg, above the knee, blaek mane and tail, chipped knees, wart on inside of off hind quarter, and near hind fetlock a little swollen; the mare was supposed Stolen on the 25th or 26' h instant, from 108, Hatton- garden, Holborn : 1 wheat- ear and cornflower Spray for the hair, about 16 ct. diamonds ; 1 smaller ditto, 5 ct. diamonds ; to have been in foal when stolen, and may possibly be traced | x wi] d roae and two leaves, forming pendant, 10 ct. diamonds : by her foal. Stolen from the person of Jane Wassail, of Priors Lee, at Shiffnal Railway Station, about 2 p. m. on the 3rd instant: a dark coloured leather Purse, with gilt lines and broad elastic band, containing a £ 5 Bank of England Note, eight Sovereigns, andj about £ 2 in Silver. Supposed by, two men, one about 24 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, small light whiskers and moustache : dressed in light clothes. The other about 20 years of age, no whiskers or moustache; dressed in dark overcoat, and light plaid trousers, It is LARCENY AND KSfiBESSZLEMJESfTt. Absconded from Middlesbrough on the 4th instant, charged, with stealing a quantity of Gold Leaf : JOHN HUGHES, an artist or decorator and. native of London, about 45 or 50 years of age, stout make, dark complexion and hair, very little whiskers, lame of one lei? and walks with a stick, also crippled in one hand ; dressed iu old dark clothes, black billycock hat, and old boots. Escaped from custody at Corwen Railway Goods Yard, between 3 and 4 a. m. on the 24th ultimo, charged with larceny : EVAN EVANS, a porter, in the employ of the Great Western Railway Company, at Corwen, and at times assistant breaksman, between Corwen and RuaboM : about 30 years of age, about 5 feet 6 inches high, stoutly built, fresh complexion, dark brown hair, no whiskers, and stoops a little ; he is. a labourer, and has been working as a plate layer for several years ; dressed when he escaped in railway uniform of dark corduroy. Description of SAMUEL NEWMAN, charged with obtaining several sums of .' money by false pretences, and who absconded from Great Bjridge, Tipton, about the 3rd ult. : about 40 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, light complexion, fair hair, no beard, large nose, several blue marks on the face, stout build ; he is a collier, and was at the time he absconded one of the local secretaries of the West Bromwich district of the Amalgamated Association of Miners ; he is fond very of betting, speaks with a loud voice, and generally carries his hands in his trousers pockets. A lawyer's black leather Bag was stolen from the lst class waiting room, at the Midland Railway Station, in Nottingham, on the 24th ultimo, containing a cheque Book and several Briefs, one being Taylor v. By a man who lodged in the house one night: about 34 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, alender build, long thin face, dark complexion, small dark whiskers and moustache ; dressed in a brown reefer jacket, dark test, bound with braid, fustian trousers, rather dirty, mixture cloth cap, with hook in front, strong blucher shoes, and had the appearance of a mechanic.
