INFORMATIONS. MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. About 8 a. m., on the 16th instant, the dead Body of a > newly- born Female Child was found in a meadow in the parish of Thorley, near the town of Bishop's Stortford, ad- joining the turnpike- road. The body was wrapped up in a Bishop's Stoitford newspaper, dated the 10th June. At the Coroner's Inquest, on the 17th iustant, a verdict of ' Wilful Murder, against some person or persons unknown' was returned. Information^ to be given to Superintendent Ryder, Police Station, Bishop's Stortford, Herts.— Bow- street, June 23. Description of GEORGE SMITH, charged with the manslaughter of Thomas Hilton, at Walton- on- thames, cn the 14th instant: he is a travelling chair bottomer and basket maker, about 27 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, light brown hair and whiskers, and sallow completion ; Pressed in a pepper and salt jacket, dirty moleskin trousers, black soft felt hat. Supposed to belong to Oxfordshire, and to hfive a brother residing at Beading. Is likely to be found in the company of pea pickers. Stolen on the night of the 18th instant, from the person of William Hunter, at Ingham: a double- case silver lever Watch, enamelled dial, with seconds hand capped and jewelled, No. 10467, ' Wm. Woolsey' engraved or,- plate, and a Hair Guard attached ; also £ 2 5a. 9d. By JOHN ALLEN, a native of Willoughton, near Kirton Lindsey : he ia 24 yrs. of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, fresh complexion, hazel eyes, black hair, scar on back of right hand, and over right eye; dressed in a grey suit of clothes, black hilly hat, and militia boots. He was discharged from the Royal North Lincoln Militia on the 9th instant; was traced to Market Rasen, • where he took train for Hull on the night of the 19th iustant, slept at a house in Hull on the following night, and left there next morning at 8 a m. Information to bo given to Superin- tendent Wright County Police Station, Lincoln, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, June 28. 26th ultimo : a man named JOSEPH ROWLAND, alias ROLINGS, alias THOMAS, a native of Bow, London, has been committed for trial ( on the charge) at Maidstone Assizes, on the 11th instant : he is about 50 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, full face, and stoutly build ; dressed in dark jacket and trousers, and round hat. PALMER, labourer, 1 years of age, 5 feet high, dark complexion, brown, hair am eyes, and warts on right hand ; and ROBERT PALMER, labourer, 20 years of age, 5 feet high, very dark - mplexion, black hsir, and brown eyes. Both are natives of Axminster, and have been apprehended on suspicion. Between 1 and 5 p. m. on the 26th instant, the dwelling- house of William Milham, was broken into, at West Grin- stead, Sussex, and stolen therein : an old silver hunting Watch, No. 8609, maker Gocbshere, Tottenham ; a small Chain attached, tied with a piece of blue ribbon. Supposed by a man, rather respectably d'resaed, wajks very erect, about 22 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, thin face, daik hair, no whiskers, small moustache, slight figure ; dressed in a brown coat, spotted vest, dark trousers, and light alpine hat. Description of PHILLIP OSCAR AMERY, charged on warrant with breaking into an office and stealing about £ 30 in Gold and Silver, the moneys of his master : he is about 22 years of age, about 5 feet 8 inches high, proportion- ately made, very sallow complexion, black hair, a little black moustache, no whiskers, and of gentlemanly appearance ; dressed in dark clothes and round felt hat; he is a clerk ; his father lives in Lower Park- street, Islington, London. Stolen on the night of the 24th instant by breaking out from the warehouse of Mr. Slade, boot manufacturer, Worcester : two dozen German Calf Kids; fourteen Skins English ditto ; twelve Skins bald Seal; eight- and- a- half fine grain ditto ; twelve Skins waxed Calf; twelve Skins Levant Goats ; six Skins ditto, best quality. The whole partly cut ; four Skins Patent Calf, cot cut ; twelve pairs Kid Franks for block fronts, and 1C0 yards Silk Elastic. W. K.'; a butter Knife, with bone handle; two table Covers, one of them woollen and very thick ; and a plated Teapot. Description of a man who is charged with obtaining £ 11, by false pretences from Mrs. Davis,' at Clewer, on the 27th ultimo : 35 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, fair complexion, light hair and moustache, no beard, full face, has a ring on left little finger, and of gentlemanly appearance ; dressed in black frock coat, light trousers, and high hat. He represented himself to be a clerk to Mr. Nicholls, of Carey- street, London, and stated that there was a legacy of £ 100, for Mrs. Davis. Information to be given to Superintendent Blake, Berks Constabulary, Clewer.— Bow- street, July 5. Description of a female who obtained by false pretences, a paper Parcel and a woven Bag ( strapped together) fiom the cloak room at Lichfield Station, Trent Valley Line ( London and North Western Railway) on the 13th ultimo: about 27 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, and very dark curly hair ; dressed in dark clothes. The parcel contained a brown holland Palonaise, with dark stripes, the skirt plain, worked or embroidered round the bottom ; a black silk Tablier and Body, trimmed with black worsted lace ; creamr coloured Necktie, and yellow leather Gloves. The ^ bag contained Eatables. Information to be given at the Detective Department, Stafford Station, or at any Police Station in the county of Stafford. - Bow- street, Juli/ 3. A man who gave the name of WILLIAM DICKSON, a slater and plasterer, of Ryehill, Newcastle- on- Tyne, has absconded from Berwick- upon- Tweed, charged on a warrant with obtaining £ 1 5s. by false pretences : 45 to 50 years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, ordinary make, fair com- plexion, fair or grey hair, grey whiskers, slight moustache, shaved on chin ; dressed in grey clothes, white duck over- clothes, old black felt hat, check scarf, white shirt, and laced boots. He walks erect, and has the appearance of a soldier. Information to be given to Chief Constable Garden, Berwick- on- tweed, Northumberland.— Bow- street, July 3. Description of JOHN WALTER JARVIS, alias JAMES JONES, alias LLOYD, a native of Carnarvon, his parents now residing at Canton, Cardiff : about 30 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, brown hair, small whiskers, slight moustache, sallow complexion; dressed in black clothes, represents himself to be a clergyman, and offers his services to the clergymen of the parishes he visits ; has represented himself as the chaplain ot Beaumaris Gaol, and was last heard of at Builth, on the 21st instant : he i3 charged by George Broom, Market- street, Llanelly, with obtaining on the 15th instant, £ 3 10s., by means of a false cheque, on tho Swansea Bank, at Llanelly, the cheque was signed ' J. Jarvies.' Information to be given to Superintendent Harris, Llanelly, Carmarthenshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension. — Bou- ttreet, June 30. Description of WILLIAM ALEXANDER, a horse driver, charged with obtaining 12s., from Gerrisk & Co., canal carriers, Devizes, by false pretences, on the 5th instant; he is 18 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, rather slight built, fresh complexion, dark hazel eyes, dark brewn hair, and has a scar on angle of right eye ; dressed when he left Devizes in a short white slop, fustian or cord trousers, and black cloth cap ; is a native of Bradford- on- Avon, and belongs to the Royal Wilts Militia. Information to be given to Super- intendent Woodman, Devizes, Wilts, who holds a warrant for his apprehension. — Bow- strett, June 28. INFORMATIONS. Remanded at Southampton until die 10th instant, on a charge of attempting to break into a jeweller's shop in High- street, Southampton, at 2 30 a. m. on the 2nd instant : JOHN BATHURST, carpenter, 35 years of age, 5 ft. 10 ins. high, grey eyes, brown hair, moustache, uo beard or whiskers, long face, sear from burn inside of right arm below elbow and one on outside of arm above elbow, mole on right cheek- two moles on left arm, scars on shin of left leg, end of little finger cut off right hand, and born at Carlisle; dressed in light mixture cloth suit, and billycock hat. REUBEN AUGUSTE a betting- man, 29 years of age, 5 feet 82 inches high, hazel eyes, dark complexion, dark brown hair and moustache, whiskers shaved off to two inches below ears, large scar from scrofula under left ear, scar on left arm and two mole* on back of neck; dressed in grey mixture <= iiit, dust overcoat, and billycock hat. And CHARLES LAPOREL, a carpenter's labourer, 26 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, stoutly built, hazel eyes, ruddy complexion, dark sandy hair, no whizkers or moustache' sun freckled, flags with letter ' F,' anchor, and dagger on right arm, crossed swords, ' V. R.' between and anchor on left arm and was born at Birmingham ; dressed in grey mixture cloth suit, and billycock hat.
