About 8 a. m., on the 16th instant, the dead Body of a newly- born Female Child was found in a meadow in the parish of Thorley, near the town of Bishop's Stortford, ad- joining the turnpike- road. The body was wrapped up in a Bishop's Stortford newspaper, dated the 10th June. At the • Coroner's Inquest, on the 17th instant, a verdict of ' Wilful Murder, against some person or persons unknown' was returned. Description of GEORGE SMITH, charged with the manslaughter of Thomas Hilton, at Walton- on- Thames, on the 14th instant: he is a travelling chair bottomer and basket maker, about 27 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, light brown hair and whiskers, and sallow complexion ; dressed in a pepper and salt jacket, dirty moleskin trousers, black Boft felt hat. Supposed to belong to Oxfordshire, and to have a brother residing at Reading. Is likely to be found in the company of pea pickers. Further information respecting the Horse stolen at Harston, near Cambridge, advertised in the Police Gazette of_ 28th ultimo. It was traced through Buntingford and Ware* by way of Stamford- hill into London, reaching there at 5 p. m. on 27th ultir..;\ It was shod all round on the way there. • £ 10 reward will be paid on convjfctiwn of the offender or offenders. Information to be given' to Chief Superintendent Stretten, Chesterton- road, Cambridge.— Bow- street, July 3, Stolen from a field at Rhymney, on the 27th ultimo : a bright bay Horse, 5 years old, about 17 hands high, lately fired on the fore legs, small white star on forehead, and white on one hind foot, is in good condition. Stolen on the night of the 18th instant, from the person of William Hunter, at Ingham: a double- case silver lever Watch, enamelled dial, with seconds hand, capped and jewelled, No. 10467,' Wm. Woolsey' engraved on plate, aud a Hair Guard attached ; also £ 2 5s. 9d. By JOHN ALLEN, a native of Willoughton, near Kirton Lindsey : he is 24 yrs. of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, fresh complexion, hazel eyes, black hair, scar on back of right baud, and over right eye; dressed in a grey suit of clothes, black billy hat, and militia boots. He was discharged from the Royal North Lincoln Militia on the 9th instant; was traced to Market Rasen, where he took train for Hull on the night of the 19th instant, slept at a house in Hull on the following night, atid left there next morning at 8 a. m. Stolen from the person at St. Thomas, Devon, on the 12th instant: a silver Geneva Watch, No. 76599, also a gilt snake- pattern albert Chain with two Keys and two sixpenny Pieces attached. Between 1 and 5 p. m. on the 26th instant, the dwelling- house of William Milham, was broken into, at West Grin- stead, Sussex, and stolen therein : an old silver hunting Watch, No. 8609, maker Gochshere, Tottenham ; a small Chain attached, tied with a piece of blue ribbon. Supposed by a man, rather respectably dressed, walks very erect, about 22 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, thin face, dark hair, no whiskers, small moustache, slight figure ; dressed in a brown coat, spotted vest, dark trousers, and light alpine hat. Description of PHILLIP OSCAR AMERY, charged on warrant with breaking into an office and stealing about £ 30 in Gold and Silver, the moneys of his master : he is about 22 years of age, about 5 feet 8 inches high, proportion- ately made, very sallow complexion, black hair, a little black moustache, no whiskers, and of gentlemanly appearance ; dressed in dark clothes and round, felt hat; he is a c^ erk ; his father lives in Lower Park street, Islington, London. Stolen from Parka Farm, neav Bridgend, on the night of the 20th instant, the property of Mr. David Edwards : a dark bay Horse, 6 years old, near hind foot white, small white star on forehead, and rather low in the back; and a grey Mare, aged, near hind and fore feet white, and has been blistered on the neck. Two Horses, answering the above description, were taken through the east gate, Bridgend, at 1 a. m. on the 21st instant, on the road to Cardiff, by a short stout man, with a mous- tache, and they have been traced to Bristal. Charged with embezzling about £ 100, the monies of the Hanley Corporation : ALFRED RYLANDS, rate collector, about 38 years of age, 55 feet 9 inches high, sallow complexion, dark hair, long dark whiskers, beard, aud moustache, pro- portionate build, stoops a little ; dressed in dark mixture suit, soft tommy hat, and new boots. It is supposed he is in company with MORETON B. DEWSBURY, who ia charged here for stealing a Deed : about 35 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches higb, light brown hair, whiskers, and large drooping moustache, generally wears spectacles ; dressed in pilot jacket, and tommy hat. Information to be given to Chief Constable Windle, Hanley, Staffordshire, who holds warrants for their apprehension.— Bow- street^- June 28. Description of FRANCIS PREECE, a labourer, native of Worthin, Salop, who is charged on a warrant with embezzling £ 6, at Berriew, on the 19th instant: he is 28 yrs. Superintendent Freeman, Stourbridge, Worcestershire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, June 23. MISDEMEANOURS. Description of a female who obtained by false pretences a paper Parcel and a woven Bag ( strapped together) from the cloak room at Lichfield Station, Trent Valley Line ( London and North Western Railway) on the 13th ultimo; about 27 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, and very dark curly hair ; dressed in dark clothes. The parcel contained a brown holland Palonaise, with dark stripes, the skirt plain, worked or embroidered round the bottom ; a black silk Tablier aud Body, trimmed with black worsted lace ; cream- coloured Necktie, and yellow leather Gloves. The bag of age, 6 feet 7 inches high, fresh complexion, dsik brown contained Eatables. Information to be given at the Detective Department,. Stafford Station or at any Police Station in the Stolen from a dwelling- house in St. Alban's, ou the 30th ultimo : a rosewood Workbox, containing ; » - pawn- ticket for a Coat, pledged at Ashworth's, St. Alban's ; two Prudential Life Policies, & c. By a man who had been lodgiug at the house, aud stated he was employed to superintend the ttlagraph at the Midland Railway Station, St. Alban's, which is false ; 35 yrs. of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, dark hair and moustache, and no whiskers; dressed in a gvey coat, dark grey plaid trousers, hard black felt hat, and carries a black leather bag. Infor- mation to be given to the Head Constable, St. Alban's, Herts. — Bow- street, July 3. Stolen from Dartford, on the 29th ultimo : a common leather Purse, containing £ 1 10s. in Gold, and a gilt Albert Chain, snake pattern. By a man, about 20 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inehes high, dark complexion, large eyes, black frizzey hair, parted in the centre ; wore a midshipman's cap, with crown, & c., plaid trousers, and. dark coat and vest; he stated that he was in tbe service of the Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company, which is supposed to be false, and said he was going to Woolwich. Information to be giveu to Superintendent Fread, Kent Constabulary, Dartford.— Bow- street, July 3. Absconded on the 28th ultimo, from 20, Coventy- street, St. James's, stealing a £ 10 Bank of England Note: a man 21 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, and fair complexion and hair ; dressed in brown tweed suit and low felt hat, and is a porter.— Metropolitan Police, C Divi- sion, July 3. Absconded on the 29th ultimo, from 111, Gloucester- road, Kensington, stealing £ 10 : a youth, 17 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, sallow complexion, and dark hair; dressed in black coat, grey trousers, straw hat, and is a porter. — Metropolitan Police, T Division, July 3. Stolen on tbe 13th ultimo from the house of Ann Shiers> Monk- street, Derby : £ 35 in Gold, a lady's Fall, a pair of Gloves, and a piece of Lace. By HARRIET MARY BATEMAN, 26 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches higb, sallow complexion, grey eyes, duk brown hair, and round features ; dressed in black clothes. She is well known in Birmingham, where she was convicted about, two years ago of felony • she is also known in Thornton- street, Bedford ; at Gibraltar- street, Sheffield ; and in Nottingham. She occasionally plays a harp and sings at public- houses She has a relative in Greshiuu- streef,, Leicester. Information to be given to the Chief Constable. Derby, who holds a warrant for her appre- hension.— Bow street, July 3. hair and eyes, small whiskers, scar on right eyebrow, and wrist of right hand ; dressed in dirty cotton cord trousers, old black leather leggings, old brown waistcoat-, black cloth cap, and no coat, and carries a whip ; he is supposed to have gone in the direction of Rhayader or Builth, aud will probably seek employment at timber hauling. Poole, Berriew, Montgomeryshire.— Born- street, June 28, Absconded from Ebbwvale on the evening of the 24th instant, charged with stealing a large quantity of old Brass Bearings ( recovered), the property of the Ebbwvale Steel, Iron, and Coal Company Limited : THOMAS MITCHELL, a roller in ironworks, and native of Ebbwvale, 35) ears of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, proportionate make, fair com- plexion, round face, high cheek bones, brown hair and whiskers, small moustache, and scar on cheek under the eye ; supposed dressed in a light grey coat, pockets on hips, dark trousers, and bo . vler hat. He has a relative at Darlington, and is supposed to be well known at West Hartlepool, Dar- lington, and Middlesbrough, having worked at those places as a rougher or roller ; and MORGAN MORGAN, alias MACKEN MORGAN, a rougher or roller, a native of Ebbwvale, 45 to 50 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, slight build, sallow complexion, dark hair and whiskers, no moustache, speaks with the Welsh accent, and is addicted to drink; dressed in dark clothes and bowler hat. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Abergavenny, or to Superintendent H. Fowler, Tredegar Iron Works, who who holds a warrant for their apprehension. — Bow- street, June 28. Stolen from a dwelling- house at Neithrop : a dark tweed Jacket, with pink or pink striped sleeve linings, two hip pockets and c « ne inside left breast; a dark twilled Vest; and a pair of black cloth Trousers, bound with green round the top. By a tramping shoemaker, who lodged in the house on the night of the 20th, and left at 8 a. m. on the 2l3t instant; he is about 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, between 30 and 40 years of age, dark hair and whiskers, lame of one leg, uses a crutch under the right arm, and a stick ; dressed in the stolen clothes, and left his old coat and vest behind. Description of the dead Body of a woman, unknown, which was found in the River Severn, at Diglis, near Wor- cester, on the 22nd instant : about 50 years of age, 5 ft. 1 or 2 iuches long, and the hair turning grey ; the only articles of dress upon the Body were a black skirt, grey ribbed cotton stockings, and a pair of elastic side boots. The body was greatly decomposed, and must , have been in the water a considerable time. At the Coroner's inquest a verdict of ' Found Drowned' was returned.
