INFORMATIONS. MUBDEE AIB MALI01 CHSLT WOUIBIIG. On the 31st ultimo, the body of a female Child, about two months old, was found in a field of Mr. Wilson's, Manor House Farm, Kirkham. The body had lost both arms and a portion of the scalp ; the missing portion of scalp with some dirty calico cloths have been found on the brink of the River Derwent. Mr. Wood, Deputy Coroner, held an inquest on the evening of the 2nd instant, and from the medical evidence after a post- mortem examination of the remains, which they stated were those of a female child two months old, mueh decomposed, especially about the neck and chest, the collar bone fractured, and both arms missing. At the Coroner's inquest, the medical officers were of opinion that the child had been murdered, and had been in the water from 14 to 28 days at the least. The inquest is adjourned until the 9th instant. Information to be given to Superintendent Long, East Riding Constabulary, Norton- Malton, Yorkshire. — Bow- street, June 6. JOHN BOWKER, alias WOWZER, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 31st ultimo, charged with larceny from the person at Newtown, has been apprehended.— Bow- street, June 9. Stolen on the 6th instant, from the person of J. M. | Marriott, Esq., at the Eton Regatta : a plain double- cased gold Watch, first ease gone, engine- turned, white dial, with black hands and figures, maker Barwise, London. £ 5 reward will be paid by the owner to any person who will give such information as shall lead to the recovery of the Watch and conviction of the offender or offenders. Stolen from the person in a public- house in Kendal, on the 3rd instant : a silver lever hunting Watch, capped at both sides, about half worn, no inside glass face, white dial, and centre seconds, the seconds pointer broken off, and No. of watch on face; had attached a common link albert Guard, iwith the fastener breken off. Description of GEORGE HENRY UPTON, charged with stealing from the person of Charles Needles, of Salt- fleetby, St. Peters : a Purse, containing £ 16 in Gold and Silver : he is 21 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, red hair, sandy whiskers, freckled face, walks erect, and surly looking; has a brother residing at Hillsborough, near Sheffield. Between 9 p. m. of the 6th and 11 a. m. of the 7th instanti a dwelling- house in Bolton was broken and entered, and stolen therein : a single- breasted black cloth Frock Coat; a ditto Yest, without collar; a pair men's black cleth Trousers, full falls; a double- breasted brown cloth Overcoat, with brown velvet collar, lined inside with brown alpaca, repaired under the sleeves with black stuff, supposed to have three pockets outside and one inside left breast; two lady's black leather Satchel, one old, with steel top, one new, with brass top ; a pepper- and- salt tweed waterproof Cloak; a child's white Polonaise and Tippet, embroidered round the bottom, collar, and sleeves ; a child's French merino Frock, with small plaits down [ the body in front, and imitation crotchet work on sleeves ; three children's white Frocks, one embroidered in the body, one with tucks in the body, the other with lavender spots ; a child's white Skirt, with double crotchet work round the bottom ; two Blankets, one large, the other small; a pair of lady's Slippers, with patent leather toecaps ; a pair of gentleman's elastic- side Boots, ribbed leather tops, thin sole?, patent leather toecaps, and a small patch on the side pf one boot; a child's brown silk Umbrella, with cane handle ; a grey cloth double- breasted Shooting Coat and Yest ( single- breasted and without collar). Between 12 p. m. on the 31st ultimo and 5 a. m. on the 1st instant the shop of John Jones, of Station- lane, Buckley, was broken into, and stolen therein : about 7s. in Copper Monies, 2 small black Brooches, and a pair of steel Spectacles. Information to be given to Detective Chief Constable Adams, or Inspector Minshull, Mold, Flintshire.— Bow- street, June 6. Between 9 p. m. on the 31st ultimo apd 5 a. m. on the 1st instant, the dwelling- house of Martin Tipton, at Huntinton, in the parish of Cannock, was broken and entered and stolen therein, supposed by a tramp : a boy's pilot Jacket, pockets on hips, and one inside left breast, partly worn ; a boy's white slop Jacket, pockets on hips and one inside left breast; a soft black billycock Hat; a pair of lace- up Boots, partly worn ; a pair of grey worsted Stockings ; a white Towel; a pair of Scissors ; a chawl of Bacon; and £- lb. of Tea. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Oswell, Stafford, or to Sergeant Barrett, Police Station, Penk- ridge, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, June 6. Between 1C p. m. on the 29th, and 5 a. m. on the 30th nit., the cottage of Henry Jarvis, Middle Assenden, was broken into, and 4 lbs. of Bacon an old Towel; lj yards of Holland ; and a pair of Scissors stolen therein. Supposed by tramps. Information to be given to Superintendent Coates, Police Station, Henley- on- Thames, Oxon.— Bow- street, June 2. Between 9 a. m. and . 3 p. m. on the 29th ultimo, the dwelling- house of Matthew Skipsey, of Sowerby, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : a brown mixture shooting Coat, with two pockets outside, one inside left breast; a black cloth Vest, single breasted ; a black silk Neckerchief ; a jean Jacket; a black felt Hat ; and about 2 lbs. of cooked Bacon. Supposed by a tramp, who no doubt will be wearing tba stolen coat and hat, as an old black cloth coat, and a small low- crowned hat, was found in the house. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Walmsby, Northallerton, or to Inspector Nicholson, Thirsk, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, Julle 2. Between 12 p. m. on the 31st nit. and 6 a. m. on the 1st inst., the shop of Mr. John Jones, grocer and provision dealer, at Ball's Barn, Buckley, was broken and entered and stolen therein : about 6s. in Copper Money, two small paltry Brooches, and a pair of old dark coloured Spectacles. Infor- mation to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Adams, Mold, Flintshire, or at any of the Police Stations in the county of Flintshire.— Bow- street, June 2. About 2 a. m. on the 29 th instant, a butcher's shop was broken into and a door Bolt stolen therein. By two men, one of whom was apprehended, the other escaped, and is about 28 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, and stoutly made; dressed in blue serge jacket, dark trousers, and cloth cap. Information to be given to Chief Constable Saggerson, Middlesbrough, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, May 31. Stolen from a field at Spittle Gap, on the 2 nd instant: a bay mare P- ny, 5 years - old, 13j hands high, a little lame in the left shoulder; also a yearling Colt, dark brown, white mark down the face, and fore feet very much broken. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Fearnside, Town Hall; Pontefract, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, June 9. Absconded, charged with stealing a Horse and Dog Cart, at Dairy, on the 29th ultimo : THOMAS INGRAM, a groom, said to be a native of Newcastle- on- Tyne, 18 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches high, dark hair, no whiskers, sallow complexion, full round face, dark grey eyes, and short nose ; dressed in dark tweed coat and vest, half worn, dark tweed trousers, new, strong laced boots, and tweed cap with peak. He had been employed for some time as a groom, and on the night of the 29th ultimo he got possession of his employer's Horse and Dog Cart, disposed of them in Ayr on the follow- ing morning, and proceeded to Glasgow by train, and left Glasgow with the 10.40 p. m. train that night for Liverpool with another groom or stableman. They will probably seek employment at livery stables or with cabmen. A Sheriff's warrant has been granted for the apprehension of Ingram. Information to be given to the Chief Constable at Kircud- bright.— Bow- street, June 7. Stolen on the 24th ultiir " Vcm a field at Glemsford, Suffolk : a dark bay Welsh Pt , hree years old, 13 hands high, clipped tail, and has bruises vn the hocks from kicking. Information to be given to Superintendent Roberts, Clare, or to Sergeant Ward, Glemsford, Suffolk.— Bm- street, June 6. Absconded from Ashbourne, charged with stealing, on the the 27th ultimo, a Horse ( recovered) : a youth, about 17 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, dark hair and eyes, swarthy complexion, and aquiline nose ; dressed in corduroy trousers, brown jacket with large white buttons, and imita- tion sealskin cap with peak ; has the appearance of a gipsy. £ 1 reward will be paid for his apprehension and conviction. Information to be given to Superintendent Whieldon, Con- stabulory Office, Ashbourne, Derbyshire.— Bow- st., June 6. Stolen from a field at Askham Bryan, between 8 p. m., 31stnit., and 7a m , 1st instant : a black horse Pony, 3 years old, 14J hands high, rather long square tail, has not been docked, and in fair condition; the property of William Stephenson, farmer. Information to be given to Superinten- dent Kane, Tadcaster, York.— Bow- street, June 6. SAMUEL SMITH ( advertised in the Police Gazette of the 24th ultimo as having stolen a Horse from Basingstoke) has been apprehended at Hampton. The other man described with him is still at large, and a. wan ant is issued for his apprehension: his name is EDWARD THOMAS, alias ROULAND, 28 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, brown hair, grey eyes, sallow complexion, cross on left arm, burn mark on right knee, right nostril and lip eaten away with cancer, dark whiskers and ndoustache, and has a piece of flesh- coloured sticking paper on the bad part of his nose ; he is a gipsey hawker. He was liberated from Portland Convict Prison on the 9th March, 1876, where he served seven years penal servitude for Horse stealing ( see Police Gazette of March 10, 1876, under Habitual Criminals Liberated). £ 1 reward will be paid for the apprehension of this man. Infor- mation to be given to Head Constable Hibberd, Basingstoke, Hants.— Bow- street, June 2. Stolen from a field at Rostherne, during the night of the 2Sth instant: a grey she Ass, aged, in good condition, a crack in one fore hoof, and without shoes, the property of Mr. Wm. Carter, .£ 1 reward will be given for the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders, and recovery of the Ass. Information to be given to Superintendent Aston, Alirincham, or to Sergeant Hollingworth, Lymm, or to P. C. Fowles, Rostherne, Cheshire.— Bow- street, May 31. HORSE AIB CATTLE STEALXBO. Description of a man charged with stealing a Donkey ( recovered) at Thurston Clough, Saddle worth, on the 19th ultimo : about 20 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, fresh complexion, light brown hair, and rather slender build ; dressed in dark hard billycock hat, dark cloth coat and vest, dark stripe trousers, small black and white plaid tie, and boots. He stated that he had been to Huddersfield Fair. Information to be given to Inspector Whincup, West Riding Constabulary, Saddleworth.— Bow- street, June 9. Stolen from a field at Llandinabo, on the night of the 30th ultimo : seven Sheep ( six ewes and a wether), nearly fat, 2 years old, white faces, short tails, recently Bhorn, and not marked, except the wether, which has the point of its right ear cut off. £ 5 reward will be paid on the conviction of the offender or offenders. Stolen between 1 and 6 on the morning of the 3rd instant, from the dwelling- house of Mary Millward, of Longnor, lodging- bouse keeper : six silver Tea Spoons ; one dozen nickel- silver Spoons; three silver Dsssert Spoons ; a set of Coral Beads ; a pair of woman's Stockings; a Mantle; a printed lilac Dress ; and about 15s. in Silver Monies. By a man and woniftn who took lodgings at the house on the previous night. The man is about 19 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, slender build, and dark hair ; dressed in blue coat, dark check trousers, blue cloth cap, and clogs. The woman is about 18 years o'f age, light complexion and round shouldered ; dressed in a light skirt an jacket, and odd shoes. Information to be given to Superintendent Williams, Leek, or to Sergeant Dobson, Marston, Ashbourne, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, June 9. Description of THOMAS WATTS, alias GEORGE KING, charged on a warrant with stealing a suit of new grey plaid tweed Clothes, a pair of Trousers, and a Yest of Oxford mixture cloth, from his lodgings at Luton on the 29 th ultimo : a baker, about 24 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, fair complexion, light hair, no whiskers, tattooed on one arm with an anchor, on the other arm a woman's head ; dressed in old dark grey suit, deerstalker hat, old elastic- side shoes. He was traced in the direction of London, and enquiring the way to Notting- hill. He is known near Northampton, and has been recently convicted at Northampton of felony. He stated that he had been on board ship following his trade. Information to be given to Superintendent Tydeman, Police Station, Luton, Beds.— Boy street] June 7. 2 P O L I C E GAZETTE June 9 Absconded from Northampton, charged with stealing about £ 12 in Gold, belonging to Mr. Walter, pawnbroker, Bridge- street, on the 3rd instant: GEORGE MORRIS ( name supposed to be fictitious), about 30 years of age, about 5 feet 4 inches high, florid complexion, sandy hair ( parted down the middle), whiskers, and moustache, is of gentlemanly manners, and appears well educated; dressed in brown tweed shooting coat, black scarf and pin, light trousers, side- spring boots, and black billycock bat. He entered the service of Mr. Walter as assistant on the 2nd inst., by means of a testimonial purporting to be from H. Middletonv jeweller, 13, Eastborough, Scarborough, Yorkshire, his late employer, which is supposed to be false. He left behind him a black American cloth Portmanteau, with leather fittings, containing a white Shirt, a grey Shirt, a pair of black cloth Trousers, two black cloth Coats, and a pair of side- spring Boots. Information to be given to Chief Constable Keenan, Borough Police, Northampton, who holds a warrant for his apprehen- sion.— Bow- street, Juns 7. Description of two men, who are charged with four others, with stealing from a public- house, at Tranmere, Cheshire, on the 1st instant: a cash Box, containing a £ 5 Bank of England Note, new, ' George Penk' written on the back ; and about £ 5 in Gold and Silver Monies : One is from 35 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, light complexion, light brown curly hair, no moustache or whiskers, and light tuft of hair on end of chin ; dressed in light coat, and black billycock hat. The other i3 from 35 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, dark complexion, black hair and beard ; dressed in dark clothes. Information to be given to Superintendent Egerton, County Hall, Abbey - street, Birkenhead, Cheshire. — Boss- street, June 7. Absconded from Stafford, charged with stealing on the 4th ultimo, from a beer- house : a red flannel Skirt, stamped in imitation- of braid at the bottom ; a white calico Chemise; and a pair of white calico Drawers with 7 or 8 tucks ; a woman, prostitute, about 22 year3of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, medium build, dark complexion and eyes, dark brown hair, and speaks the Lancashire dialect; dressed in brown shawl with whits stripe near the edge, black and white plaid dress, • white straw hat, and elastic- side boots. She stated that she cams from Manchester. When in Stafford she passed as the wife of a bricklayer of Crewe, Cheshire, and was last seen in company with another bricklayer, near Wellington, Salop, who is supposed to be now working at some bridges or tun- nelling on a railway between Walsall and Water Orton, near Nottingham. Information to be given to Inspector Hackney, Guildhall, Stafford.— Bow- street, Juns 7. CHARLES MIDDLEBROOK, the professional rink skater, who absconded from Coventry, stealing Monies and a Watch ( Watch recovered), described in Police. Gazette of the 24th ultimo, has been apprehended at Briddlington. In- formation to be given to Head Constable Norris, Coventry, Warwickshire.— Bow- street, June 6. Description of HENRY CHARLES TEWKESBURY, a clerk, who absconded from Salisbury, on the 16th ultimo, charged on a warrant with stealing from his employers, .£ 13 10s., and other Monies : he is 17 years of age, 5feet 4or 5 inches high, dark brown hair, grey eyes, remarkably square face, slight whiskers and moustache, strongly made, walks very upright, is a member of the 1st Wilts Rifle Corps; dressed in a dark blue morning coat, bound with black braid, dark mixture cloth vest and trousers, buttons marked ' Fleming, Salisbury,' black silk corded necktie, a small gold twisted pin, with a piece of red coral inserted ; and a low crowned black stiff felt hat. Information to be given to Head Canstablo Mathews, Salisbury, Wilts.— Bow- street, June 2. Stolen during the night of the 24th instant, from the premises of Henry Collins, at Downley, West Wycombe: a cross cut Saw ( since recovered.) also a hand .- Jaw, nearly new, with the lower part of handle cut off. By a man about 45 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, sandy hair, few whiskers, very freckled face ; dressed in brown slop or jacket, worsted cord trousers, blucher boots, and low- crowned hard hat. Is a tramping . carpenter, carrying a flag basket, con- taining a hand Saw, supposed the stolen one. Information to be given to Superintendent Sargent, County Constabulary, High Wycombe, Bucks.— Baw- str& it, May 31. Absconded from Salisbury, on the 16th instant, stealing £ 13 10s, the monoys of his employers Williams and Bros., Salisbury: HENRY CHARLES TEWKESBURY, 17 yrs. of age, about 5 feet 4 inches high, dark brown hair, cut short, grey eyes, and Walks very erect; dressed in dark blue over- coat, dark mixture cloth vest and trousers, and black hard felt hat. A warrant has been granted for his apprehension. Information to be given to Head Constable Mathews, City Police Office, Salisbury, Wiltshire.— Bow- street, May 31. Absconded from Eastbourne on the 23rd instant, charged with stealing a silver Geneva Watch ( recovered), and 9s. 6d.: a woman, about 48 years of age, about 5 feet 3 inches high, fresh complexion, dark eyes, dark hair, inclined to curl, and medium figure ; dressed" in black bonnet, trimmed with white flowers, black cloth jacket, black polonaise, grey drab mohair dress with one deep flounce, spring- side boots. She is a widow, and gains her livelihood by making baby- lines. Information to be given to Superintendent Newnham, East- borne, Sussex.— Bow- street,, May 31. ( Not otherwise described). Absconded, charged with an assault, with intent to ravish, at Armadale, near Bathgate, on the 1st ultimo: ABRAHAM BENNETT, a miner, a native of Crofthead, Linlithgowshire, brorght up at Armadale, and latterly resided at Bowhousa Rows, Stirlingshire, 21 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, long face, brown complexion, rather red hair, fair whiskers ( if any), small and thin, small straight nose, thin cheeks, good teeth, small mouth, grey eyes, fair eyebrows, slender make, scar on little finger of right hand, a little sun- freckled on forehead, and red spots on the face ; dressed in light grey striped cap, with peak of same material, blue cloth shooting coat, dark grey tweed trousers, light grey tweed vest, black and white checked or shepherd tartan neck- erchief, white woollen socks, and blucher boots ; he is of Irish extraction, rather talkative, has been in custody for assault and breaches of the peace, and was only a few days out of prison, after undergoing a sentence of 4 months, for stealing whisky, by housebreaking, from a store at Armadale. A sheriff's warrant has been grafted for his apprehension. Information to be given to the Chief Constable of Linlith- gow, Linlithgowshire.— Bow- street, June 2, FRAUDS! A1B AGGRAVATED MISDEMEAWOURS. Absconded, charged with fraud : ISAAC MORGAN, late of 37, Essex- street, Strand, 50 years of age, 5 ft. 8 ins. high, dark complexion, hair turning grty, short beard and moustache, and bow legged; dressed respeetably. Warrant issued.— Metropolitan Police, E Division, June 7. Description of - a man charged with obtaining Goods and Money to the amount of £ 7, by tendering a false Cheque ( drawn on Messrs. Coutts and Co., in favour of Claude Fane) on an hotel keeper at Weymouth, on the evening of the 1st instant : from 30 to 35 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, dark complexion, very much sunburnt, dark hair and whiskers ( cut rather short), dark moustache, and high square broad forehead ; dressed in a dark brown suit, dark overcoat, and dark felt hat; wore rings ( one of them silver), and a Bilver or steel scarf pin in the form of a driving bit, with cross bar attached, and had a small black leather bag with him. He gave the name of CAPT. CLAUDE FANE, and stated that he returned from India with the Prince of Wales ; that he had served in a cavalry regiment; and that he had been staying st the Castle Hotel, Taunton. He left by the South Western train on the morning of the 2nd instant; is of good address, and is fond of talking about officers, horse racing, jockeys, & c., and appears to be well acquainted with gentle- men belonging to the Royal Navy. This man was described in the Police Gazette of March 29, also on May 17, for similar offences at Maidstone and Luton. Information to be given to Superintendent Vickery, Police Office, Weymouth, Dorset- shire, who holds a warrant fer his apprehension.— Bow- street, June 7. Further information respecting the Bicycle obtained by false pretences at Dover ( advertised in the Police Gazette of the 24th ultimo) : it has iron work near the saddle, marked ' Coventry Machinist Company' on one side, and ' No. 5004' stamped the other, and has gun metal hubs.
