The tramping violin player, described in the Police Gazatte of the 3rd instant, charged with having attempted to vitiate a young female, near Penrith, is stiil at large : he is supposed to be an Irishman, and to be in receipt of a pension from the army ; occasionally he wsrks upon railways and other public works; he may belong to the Militia. Description of CHARLES DOVENOR and WILLIAM ANDERSON, alias JOHN LAMBERT, convicts on license, who left Hull without reporting : Dovenor is 26 years of age, 5 feet 6^ inches high, fresh complexion, dark brown hair, hazel eyes, scar on left eyebrow, left wrist, third finger of right hand, and on left ankle, three scara on middle of back, two scars under each knee, mole on left breast, and one each side of belly ; was convicted, at Newark- upon- Trent of house- breaking on the 24th October, 1870, and sentenced to seven years penal servitude aad seven years police surveillance ; was discharged on the 1st April, 1876, went to Leeds,. and from there to Hull. Anderson, alias Lambert, is 26 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair and eyes, and sear on back of right hand; was convicted at York Assizes on the 4th August, 1870, of housebreaking, and sentenced to seven years penal servitude, and seven years police supervision ; was discharged on the 14t, h March, 1876; went to Leeds, and from there to Hull. He was convicted on the 14th October, 1867, at York Sessions, of assault and robbery, and sentenced to 10 years penal servitude, and liberated from Dartmoor Convict Prison on 9th February last.
