Description of PATRICK SHOVELAN, charged on a warrant at Consett, Durham, with cutting and wounding P. C. William Moore in . the execution of his duty on the 17th instant: 22 years of age, 5 feet 9- f inches high, fresh com- plexion, brown eyes, dark brown hair, cut short, no whiskers, proportionate figure, large brown mole covered with hair on left side of neck near the ear ; dressed when he absconded in fustian trousers, dark vest, blue pilot cloth jacket or short black coat, black cloth. cap or low- crowned black felt hat; a labourer at ironworks, and has worked at Middlesbrough, Hartlepool, Stockton, Darlington, Jarrow, Workington, and Barrow- on- Fumess. Information to be given to Superinten- dent Oliver, Consett, Durham.—• Bm- street, April 24. Absconded, charged with wounding Chas. Bunn, game- keeper, on the 23rd ultimo, in the parish of Acton: HENRY MOSS, of Milford, thatcher, 22 years of age, about 5 feet 9 inches high, dark brown hair, little dark whiskers, brown eyes, and dark complexion; dressed in a light coat and trousers, stained with blood, and black soft hat; walks in a slouching manner, aud generally has his hands in his trousers pcckets. He took tiain for London cn the morning of the 21th ult., and has a relative at a cowkeeper's near Islington. Information to be given to Inspector Keeble, Police Station, Melford, Suffolk, who holds a warrant for his apprehension. — Bow- Street, April 24. FORGE& Y. Description of JOHN MILLS, late clerk to Mr. Moss, contractor, of Stafford, who is charged with forging and uttering on tbe 2! st February last a cheque for £ 68 9s. 7d. : be is about 23 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, black hair, blue eyes, slight black whiskers aud moustache; dressed in a suit black clothes, elastic side boots, black billycock hat; wears a gold ring on little finger left hand. He was last seen at Lichfield on the 21st or 22nd February last, and is supposed to have since enlisted in some Cavalry Regiment Information to be- given to Inspector Hackney, Guildhall, Stafford, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Buw- street, April 21. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING- Stolen by means of house- breaking at Bangor, Flintshire, during the nigbt of the 21st instant ( Bangor Steeple Chase day), from a farmhouse adjoining the course: a Cash Box, containing about £ 2 in Silver and Copper; and a pair of boy's light blucher Boots. A pair of navvy's boots, much worn, were left in the place. Information to be given to Superin tendent Bolton, Hanmer, Whitchurch, Salop.— Bow- street, April 26. Between 4 and 5 p. m. on the 19th instant, a cottage oil the Chester- road, Pery Barr, near Birmingham, was broken into, and stolen therein : an old double- case silver verge Watch, white dial, key hole in face, and rusty steel Chain attached ; an old- fashioned black cloth Dress Coat, two out- side pockets, and one inside breast; an old double- breasted black cloth Waistcoat; a pair of black cloth Trousers, lined with brown calico, and flap fronts, men's size ; five old brown calico Shirts, and one cloth ditto, high collars, men's size; and a black silk Handkerchief. Information to be given to Sergeant Steele, Police Station, Handsworth, near Birming- ham, Warwickshire.— Bow- street, April 26. Stolen by means of housebreaking at Grath : a silver verge Watch, very large size, regulated with a key, attached is an old copper Guard, broken in two places, and tied together with thread, and brass Key and Seal ( stone lost out of Seal) ; a silver verge Watch, name ' J. Hurdley' inside case, strong steel Chain and brass Key and Seal attached ; a calico Shirt; a blue silk Handkerchief; a red silk Handker- chief ( both much worn). Supposed by a tramp, 30 to 40 yrs. of age, 5 feet 6 or 8 inches high, long face, little or no whiskers, and light brown hair ; dressed in old drab or grey coat, cord trousers, a, nd of very dirty appearance. Information to be given to Chief Constable Wheeldon, Penybont, or Sergeant Rogers, Knighton, Radnorshire,— Bm- sireet, April 26. On the 16th instant, a cottage near Abergavenny was broken into, and the. following property of John Holland stolen therein:. a pair of new dark brown tweed Trousers, full fronts, ' Tedman' on buttons; a new double- breasted Waistcoat of the same pattern ; a brown double- breasted Jacket, pockets outside about half worn out; a pair of light- coloured Trousers ; a grey Shirt; a new blue bundle Hand- kerchief ; and £ 3 in Money. Suspicion is attached to a tramp about 35 years of age, with sandy moustache and whiskers, and supposed to be dressed in the stolen clothes and cap. Information to be given to Superintendent Free- man, Abergavenny, Monmouthshire.— Bow- street, April 21. Between 10 a. m. and 6 p. m. on the 17th instant, the dwelling house of Mr. John Buckmaster, Twydell, farmer, at Moore End Farm, in the parish of Bovingdon, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : a gold Albert Chain, with Locket ( hair inside), Seal, and gold 7s. Piece ; a gold Ring, set with red stones; a gold Ring, with plaited ha'r all round, ' M. A. H.' engraved on it; a gold Ring, with small diamond, six pearls set round it and four turquoise stones ; a gold Breast Pin, with rings twisted for top ; a stiver Watch, gilt figures, ' J. B. T.' scratched inside the case ; a silver Albert Chain, with Pencil, chain pattern ; a 2- chamber breech- loading Pistol, steel plated and figured. Stolen from the person of John Francis, on the Torquay Race Course, Devon, on the 18th instant: a medium size silver lever Watch, No. 11612, makers name ' Ellis, Exeter,' marked on inside and outside cases. Information to be given to Superintendent Vaughan, Devon Constabulary, Torquay. — Bm- street, April 24. Stolen from the person at Lichfield Races, on the 20th instant: a silver lever Watch, open- face, jewelled in 4 holes, No. 1745. Information to be given to Sergeant Hammond, Police Station, Shenstone, Staffordshire.— Bow- st., April 24. Stolen from the person during Durham Races on the 17th and 18th instant: 1 gold lever Watch, flowered on back, No. 2157. 1 ditto ditto large size, No. 13350, maker Wine- burgh, North Shields ; a gold Albert ( curb pattern) with a Guinea and a Half- Guinea attached, the latter much worn. 1 English silver lever Watch, and a gold Albert, square links, with a Two- Guinea Piece of the reign of George the Second, dated 1740, attached. 1 silver Geneva Watch, No. 41361. 1 silver lever Watch, No 2091, maker Thomas Wake- field, Willington. 1 Pocket Book, with name ' John Lutten, 5, Side, New- castle'; a Draft for £ 62 9s. 6d., made payable to ' Wm. Brown'; one for £ 40, made payable to ' Lutten'; a Cheque for £ 5, payable to same; four £ 5 Notes, and one £ 10 Note. Information to be given to Head Constable Dodds, Durham. — Bow- street, April 24, Description of GEORGE STEADMAN, alias STEWART, who absconded from Middles! crough, on the 17th instant, charged with stealing 14 yards of'black Silk, which be pledged at Leeds, on the 18th instant, in the name of George Stewart, of the Turk's Head, Newcastle, commercial traveller : he is aboiv, 28 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high,, fresh complexion, clean shaved on chin, large light moustache, light brown hair and whiskers, cut mark under lower lip, stout make, and is a little lame ; dressed in a dark cloth shooting coat, vest and trousers of same material, brown cloth overcoat, with velvet collar, black billycock hat, and carries a black leather bag; he states that he is a commercial traveller, also a painter and decorator. Information to be given to Chief Constable Saggerson, Middlesborough, York- shire.— Bow- street, Avril 28. Stolen from a dwelling- house, at Farnworth, near Bolton- le- Moors, Lancashire, between 6 and 8 a. m. on the 24th inst.: a silver lever Watch, No. 91669, makers Lickett and Co., Norwich, had the letters ' W. O.' engraved on the outer case, and had attached a brass Albert Guard, tied at each end with a string ; and a silver verge Watch, No. 3530, maker Mills, Ludgate Hill, had the owner's name ' John Clark' engraved on the outside case, and had attached a long silver curb twisted Guard. By a young man who had lodged in the house a few nights, and absconded on the morning of the robbery : he is about 18 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, fair completion, sandy hair, no whiskers or moustache;. dressed in a dark mixture cloth shorting coat, witney cloth vest, buttons up to throat, dark cloth trousers, and elastic- side boots ; he is a tailor, stated he came from Manchester, and had been on tramp. Information to be given to Super- intendent Holland, Town Hall, Little Bolton, Lancashire.— Bow- street, April 28. Absconded on the 22nd February last, charged nn a warrant with embezzling several sums of money received on account of his master, Mr. J. B. Motley, meat salesman, No. 14 A Avenne, London Central Meat Market: JOHN JAMES MILDRED, a clerk, late of 9, Mossell- rd,, Finsbury- park, 22i years of age, b feet 4 or 5 inches high, light brown hair ( thin), slight moustache and whiskers, sallow complexion, thin' face, usually wears spectacles, and Of mean appearance. £ 20 reward will be paid for such information as shall lead to the apprehension of the accused. Description of WALTER BEVAN, a clerk, charged on a warrant with embezzling moneys, the property of the Great Western Railway : he is 23 years of age, but looks younger, 5 feet 5 inches high, fair hair, fresh complexion, slight moustache, rather full in the mouth ; dressed in a dark grey plaid suit, blue overcoat, a:. d black bowler hat; he- absconded on the 17th instant, and intended to leave the country, or may. enlist ; he was formerly station master at Lydney, Gloucestershire. Information to ba given to the Superintendent of Police, Newport, Monmouthshire.— Bow- street, April 26. Absconded on the 15th instant, from Cardiff, charged with forgery, and embezzling £ 36 the moneys of his masters : WILLIAM STRANGWARD, a traveller to a firm of irommongers, about 29 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, rather stout built, fresh complexion, cheeks shaved, light moustache, and tuft of hair on chin; generally dressed light clothes, and hard black bowler hat. Information to giveu to Chief Constable Bond, Cardiff, Glamorganshire, w] holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Boio- street, April 26.' Lydia Chapman, otherwise Porter, lately residing at No. 46, Maude- grove, Chelsea, was on the 13th instant found dead, supposed poisoned, and the undermentioned articles were found to be missing : two 20- dollar Pieces, gold; a gold Necklace, thick link pattern, pale triangular amber CATTLE STEALING. Stolen from a field at Gathorne Hall, Asby, between 6 p. m. on the 17th, and 5 a. m. on the 19th instant: two half- bred Ewes, in good condition, are due to lamb at any time within 3 weeks, they are marked with ' L' iu tar on the near side, and are red rudded on the rump. Information to be given to Superintendent Parks, Appleby, Westmorland, or at: pendant, gold fr inge ; a lady's gold hunting Watch, engine- the Chief Constable's Office, Carlisle, Cumberland.— Bow- st.,' Turned, gold double- linked Neck Chain attached ; a wedding April 28. Stolen on the 4th instant from a field at West Dulwich : a black Pony, marked ' A.' on the off hip. Two guineas reward will be paid on recovery of the pony and apprehension of the offender or offenders.— Metropolitan Police, P Division, April 24. LARCENY AID EMBEZZLEMENTS. Description of WILLIAM STANSFIELD, a clerk, a half- hoop Ring, three small diamonds set in gold ; a plain gold Ring, diamond in centre ; a large coral Brooch ; a pair of gold Ear- drops, set with small diamonds ; and about £ 200, ( supposed in Sovereigns). WILLIAM and LOUISE. WALLACE, were lodgers in the house, and left suddenly, and a warrant has been issued for their apprehension, on the charge of stealing the articles named : WILLIAM WALLACE, otherwise HOWARD ADAMS, alias JOHN HOWE, alias THE DUTCHMAN, 32 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches higb, dark complexion, hair, and whiskers, shaved under chin, slight black moustache, brown eyes, has lost first and second fingers of left band, up to charged with stealing, on the 15th instant, at Blackburn : £ 8, the monies of Henry Clayton and others, his masters : j second joint; dressed in dark frock coat, vest, and trousers, he is about 26 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, sullen ; ulster overcoat, badly fitting, and felt hat ; he has resided appearance, blue pimples on cheek, dark curly hair, full dark j for a considerable period iu America, and 15 months ago beard, slight moustache, and walks with a sweeping gait ; j escaped from gaol at Constantinople, where he was under- dressed in a dark mixture cloth suit, elastic- side boots, and going imprisonment, on a charge of forgery, dark hard billycock hat; keeps the company of betting men. j LOUISE WALLACE, 37 years of age, short, very dark Information to be given to Chief Constable Potts, Blackburn,' hair, squints, wears spectacles, French by birth, but " speaks Lancashire. — Bow- street, April 28. i English fluently. Information to be given to Superintendent Williamson, Maidstone, butcher : about 20 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark brown hair, and slightly built. He absconded on the 21st instant, from Maidstone, and is supposed to have gone to London to seek employment, he having worked for butchers there previously, or he may seek similar employ- ment in one of the towns in the adjoining counties. Infor- mation to be given to the Chief Superintendent of Police, Borough Police, Maidstone, Kent, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, A pril 24. Description of BENJAMIN HARTNETT, charged at Newcastle- upon- Tyne with stealing a Sewing Machine with which he was entrusted : about 45 years of age, 5 feet. 8 or 9 inches high, stout made rather corpulent, fresh . complexion, no whiskers, dark hair, speaks with a foreign accent, described himself as a tailor; he was dressed in black frock coat, double- breasted blaek vest, open front, white shirt, blue tie, black silk hat. Was seen in Liverpool on the 18th instant, and it is supposed that he is about to leave the country. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, Central Police Station, Newcastle- upon- Tyne, who holds a warrant for his apprehension,— B& w- strmt, April 24. Absconded from Shrewsbury, on the 20th instaut, charged with stealing a gold Albert Guard, secret links, with plain gold Locket attashed, and a Sovereign: JAME8 DAVIES, a native of Shrewsbury, has worked in waggon departments on railways, 22 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, fresh com- plexion, and " rather long thin face ; dressed in short rough blue overcoat, dark trousers, and hard black billycock hat. Information to be given to Head Constable Davies, and tendering Cheques on the Commercial Bank of Scotland,: the 28th ultimo : THOMAS LLEWELLYN, a tramp, 24 where he had no funds: THOMAS HUNTER ( name sup- I years of age, 5 feet 6) t inches high, brown hair, blue eyes, posed to be fictitious) a German, about 30 years of age, ! no whiskers, slight moustache, has seven very small blue 5 feet 4 inches high, and dark hair and whiskers ; dressed in \ spots on left side of face, and one ditto on back of left hand ; brown top coat, dark cloth trousers, and low felt hat. He j dressed in old check linen jacket, hairy scull cap, and cord was accompanied by a woman about 30 years of age, and a man j trousers. He says he has been a collier, and was born at of a similar appearance to himself. Information to, be given j Pontypryn, Penderyn, Brecon shire. He was accompanied by Buildings, Edinburgh, who j a slightly- made woman about 4 feet 10 inches high ; dressed to Chief Constable List, County holds a warrant for the appreheneipffi of Hunter.— jSow- street, April 21. _ .. ... v_ : Description of a woman who is committed for trial at the ensuing quarter sessions at Lewes, charged, with fraud at Eastbourne-: ADA PALMER, alias Miss GORDEN, alias Mrs. STEVENS, alias Mrs. KENEALEY, about 43 years of age, 5 feet 1 or 2 inches high, pale or sallow complexion, rather broad face, dark hair, nearly black, rather stout figure, and speaks with a foreign accent; dressed fashionably. She is supposed to be a professional hotel swindler, and appears to be well acquainted with nearly all the fashionable watering places in England and on the continent. States she can speak English, German, French, Italian, and Spanish. Information to be given to Superintendent Newnham, Eastbourne, Sussex. — Bow- street, April 28. Description of a man committed for trial at next Surrey Sessions: JOHN VINCENT, ( supposed false), 62 years of age, ( looks younger), 5 feet inch high, fresh complexion Shrewsbury, Salop, who holds a warrant for his apprehension, i l; air turning grey, brown mark from cut on left forearm; — Bow- street, April 24. By ROSE : wich, an engineer, remanded until the 3rd proximo, at BEAU, alias HILL, 16 years of age, stout and tail for her j Newport Paguell, on two charges of obtaining Money by age, light brown hair, fresh complexion, round face, and very \ false pretences : 31 years of age, about 5 feet 9 inches high, reserved in her manner ; she is a native of Mansfield Wood- ! fresh complexion, very full hazel eyes, dark brown curly hair, house, Notts, where her parents reside. In December last she was living at Radford, near Nottingham, in service, where she committed a larceny and absconded. She generally states that she has no parents; dressed in a brown wincey dress, imitation brown sealskin jacket, and brown straw hat turned up at the sides ; had a lady's satchel in her possession. Information to be given to Head Constable Hilton, Derby, who holds a warrant for her apprehension.— Bow- street, April 24. Stolen from the house of E. G. Davies, Churchstoke, during the night of the 9th instant; a pair of thin lace- up Boots, toe- capped, and brass eyelet- holes, middle size, recently soled. By a man who had been lodging in the bouse and gave the name of RICHARD DETHRIDGE, 23 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, light brown hair, dark com- plexion, boil marks on back of neck ; he says he is a brick- maker, and has worked in the neighbourhood of Wrexham ; dressed in a brown cloth coat, new cotton cord_ trousers, trimmed with white bone buttons, and sewn on with brown hemp, new blue and white striped cotton shirt, marked on the collar ' P./ G.', a cap, and the stolen boots. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Newtown, or to P. C. Lewis, Churchstoke, Montgomeryshire, who holds a warrant for las apprehension.- Bow- street, April 21. Stolen from a dwelling house in Middlesbrough, on the 17th instant: 14 yards black Silk, with yellow border. By a man about 30 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, stout made, fresh complexion, walks rather lame on one leg, chin shaved, large light- coloured moustache, light brown hair, has a cut mask under lower lip ; dressed in a dark cloth shooting coat, vest, and trousers, brown, cloth topcoat with velvet collar, billycock hat ; carries a black leather bag, and stated he was a painter and decorator. Information to be given to Chief Constable Saggerson, Borough Police Station, Middlesbrough, Yorks.— Brno street, Aptil 19. Description of WILLIAM PARKHOUSE, a trampiug labourer, a native of Uffculme, Devon, who is charged with stealing, on the lOtb instant, a quantity of wearing Apparel, recovered, at Moovhays Farm, iu the parish of Burlescombe, Devon : lie is 36 years of age, looks older, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, dark complexion, blaek hair, whiskers, and moustache, eyes sunk back in head, supposed to be slightly marked with small- pox, and has a slight impediment in his speech; dressed when seen at Taunton, on the llth. instant, where he sold the stolen property, in old grey cloth jacket, much worn, dirty white slop, fustian trousers and vest, a large white handker- chief tied round his neck, black billycock hat, with the crown broken down in the centre, and a small red feather stuck side the band, and lace- up boots, with very small nails ; he a small brass ring on the little finger of his right hand ; ated that he was goinsr to tramp to Bradford, Yorkshire,' is likely to be found seeking relief for the night in khouses, or may be found sleeping in out- houses. Infor- ation to be given to Superintendent Collins, Devon Con- stabulary, Cullompton, Devon, who holds the warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, April 19. whiskers, and moustache; dressed in hard black felt hat, black cloth suit, light overcoat, and low shoes. Information to be given to Inspector Hall, Newport Pagnell, Bucks.— Bmv- street, April 28. - Description of a man giving the name of PATRICK GRADY, committed for trial at next Gloucestershire Quarter Sessions, charged with wilful damage : he is 39 years or age, 5 feet 6i inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes ; dressed in old pepper and salt colour jacket, slop underneath, cord trousers, brown leather leggings, lace- up boots, and black bowler hat. He says he is a native of Ireland, and has served in 28th regiment of Faot. Information to be given to Superintendent Hanbridge, Stroud, Gloustershire.— Bow- street, Aptil 28.
