William Moore in the executiou of his duty on the 17th instant: 22 years of age, 5 feet 9j inches high, fresh Com- plexion, brown eyes, dark brown hair, cut, skort, no whiskers, proportionate figure, large brown mole covered with hair on left side of neck near the ear ; dressed when he absconded in fustian trousers, dark vest, blue pilot cloth jacket or short black coat, black cloth cap or low- crowned black felt hat; a labourer at ironworks, and has worked at Middlesbrough, Hartlepool, Stockton, Darlington, Jarrow, Workington, aod Barrow- on- Furness. Description of JOHN MILLS, late clerk to Mr. Moss, contractor, of Stafford, who is charged with forging and uttering on the 2' st February last a cheque for .£ 68 9s. 7d. : he is about 23 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, black hair, blue eyes, slight black whiskers aud moustache; dressed in a suit black clothes, elastic side boots, black billycock hat ; wears a gold ring on little finger left hand. He was last seen at Lichfield on the 21st or 22nd February last, and is supposed to have since enlisted in some Cavalry Regiment Information to be given to Inspector Hackney, Guildhall, Stafford, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, April 21. Stolen by means of house- breaking at Bangor, Flintshire, during the night of the 21st instant ( Bangor Steeple Chase day), from a farmhouse adjoining the course.: a Cash Box, containing about £ 2 in Silver and Copper ;•• and a pair of boy's light blucher Boots. A pair of navvy's boots, much worn, were left in the place. Information to be given to Superin- tendent Bolton, Hanmer, Whitchurch, Salop.— Bow- sireet, April 26. Between 4 and 5 p. m. on the 19th instant, a cottage on the Chester- road, Pery Barr, near Birmingham, was broken into, and stolen therein : an old double- case silver verge Watch, white dial, key hole in face, and rusty steel Chain attached ^ an old- fashioned black cloth Dress Coat, two out- side pockets, and one inside breast; an old double- breasted black cloth Waistcoat; a pair of black cloth Trousers, lined with brown calico, and flap fronts, men'a size ; five old brown calico Shirts, and one cloth ditto, high collars, men's size; and a black silk Handkerchief. Information to be given to Sergeant Steele, Police Station, Handsworth, near Birming- ham, Warwickshire.— Bow- street, April 26. Stolen by means of housebreaking at Grath : a silver verge Watch, veryjlarge size, regulated with a key, attached is an old copper Guard, broken in two places, and tied together with thread, and brass Key and Seal ( stone lost out of Seal)'; a silver verge Watch, name ' J. Hurdley' inside case, strong steel Chain aud brass Key and Seal attached ; a calico Shirt; a blue silk Handkerchief; a red silk Handker- chief ( both much worn). Supposed by a tramp, 30 to 40 yrs. of age, 5 feet C or 8 inches high, long face, little or no whiskers, and light brown hair ; dressed m old drab or grey coat, cord trousers, and of very dirty appearance. Information to be given to Chief Constable Whe'eldon, Penybont, or Sergeant Rogers, Knighton, Radnorshire.— Bow- street, " April 26. On the 16th ins'tant, a cottage near Abergavenny was broken into, and the following property of John Holland stolen therein: a. pair of new dark brown tweed Trousers, full fronts,•' Tedman' on buttons; a, new double- breasted Waistcoat of. the same pattern : a brown double- breasted Jacket, pockets outside about half worn out; a pair of light- coloured Trousers ; a grey Shirt; anew blue bundle Hand- kerchief ; and £ 3 in Money. Suspicion is attached to a tramp about 35 years of age, with sandy moustache and whiskers, and supposed to be dressed in, the stolen clothes and cap. Information to be given to Superintendent Free- man, Abergavenny, Monmouthshire.— Bono- street, April 21. Between 10 a m. and 6 p. m. on the 17th instant, the dwelling house of Mr. John Buckmaster, Twydell, farmer, at Moore End Farm, in the parish of Bovingdon, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : a gold Albert Chain, with Locket ( hair inside), Seal, and gold 7s. Piece ; a gold Ring, set with red stones; a gold Ring, with plaited hair all round, ' M. A. H.' engraved on it; a gold Ring, with small diamond, six pearls set round it and four turquoise stones ; a gold Breast Pin, with rings twisted for top ; a silver Watch, gilt figures, ' J. B. T.' scratched inside the case ; a silver Albert Chain, with Pencil, chain pattern ; a 2 chamber breech- loading Pistol, steel plated and figured. Stolen from the person at Lichfield Races, on the 20th instant: a silver lever Watch, open- face, jewelled in 4 holes, No. 1745. Stolen from the person during Durham Races on the 17th and 18th instant : • 1 gold lever Watch, flowered on back, No. 2157. 1 ditto ditto large size, No. 13350, maker Wine- burgh, North Shields ; a gold Albert ( curb pattern) with a Guinea and a Half- Guinea attached, the latter much worn. 1 English silver lever Watch, and a gold Albert, square links, with a Two- Guinea Piece of the reigu of George the Second, dated 1740, attached. 1 silver Geneva Watch, No. 41361. 1 silver lever Watch, No 2091, maker Thomas Wake- field, Willington. 1 Pocket Book, with name ' John Lutten, 5, Side, New- castle'; a Draft for ,£ 62 9s. 6d., made payable to ' Wm. Brown'; one for £ 40, made payable to ' Lutten'; a Cheque for £ 5, payable to same ; four £ 5 Notes, and one £ 10 Note. Stolen on the 4th instant from a field at West Dulwich : a black Pony, marked ' A.' on the off" hip. Description of WALTER BEVAN, a clerk, charged on a warrant with embezzling moneys, the property of the Great Western Railway : he i3 23 years of age, but looks younger, 5 feet 5 inches high, fair hair, fresh complexioj, slight moustache, rather full in the mouth ; dressed iu a dark grey plaid suit, blue overcoat, a.. d black bowler hat; he absconded on the 17th instant, and intended to leave the. country, or may enlist ; he was formerly station master at Lydney, Gloucestershire. Information to be given to the Superintendent of Police, Newport, Monmouthshire.— Bm- street, April 26. Absconded on the 15th instant, from Cardiff, charged with forgery, and embezzling £ 36 the moneys of his masters : WILLIAM STRANGWARD, a traveller to a firm of irommongers, about 29 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, rather stout built, fresh complexion, cheeks shaved, light moustache, and tuft of hair on chin ; generally dressed in light clothes, and hard black bowler hat. Information to be given to Chief Constable Bond, Cardiff, Glamorganshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, April 26. Lydia Chapman, otherwise Porter, lately residing at No. 46, Maude- grove, Chelsea, was on the 13th instant found dead, supposed poisoned, and the undermentioned articles were found to be missing : two 20- dollar Pieces, gold; a gold Necklace, thick link pattern, pale triangular amber pendant, gold fringe ; a lady's gold hunting Watch, engine- turned, gold double- linked Neck Chain attached ; a wedding Ring : a half- hoop Ring, three small diamonds set in gold ; a plain gold Ring, diamond in centre ; a large coral Brooch ; a pair of gold Ear- drops, set with small diamonds ; and about £ 200, ( supposed in Sovereigns). WILLIAM and LOUISE WALLACE, were lodgers in the house, and left suddenly, and a warrant has been issued for their apprehension, on the charge of stealing the articles named : WILLIAM WALLACE, otherwise HOWARD ADAMS, alias JOHN HOWE, alias THE DUTCHMAN, 32 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, dark complexion, hair, and whiskers, shaved under chin, slight black moustache, brown eyes, has lost first and second fingers of left hand, up to second joint ; dressed in dark frock coat, vest, and trousers, ulster overcoat, badly fitting, and felt hat ; ho has resided for a considerable period in America, and 15 months ago escaped from gaol at Constantinople, where he was under- going imprisonment, on a charge of forgery. LOUISE WALLACE, 37 years of age, short, very dark hair, squints, wears spectacles, French by birth, but speaks English fluently. They were last seen in London, on the 18th instant, had with them a large box, of American make, and a Gladstone bag. . Information to be given to Superintendent Williamson, Detective Department, Great Scotland Yard, London, S. W., or at any Metropolitan Police Station.— Metropolitan Police, April 24. Description of GEORGE GRAYLAND, who is charged with having embezzled various sums of Money , belonging to Mr. John Henry Solomon, of King- street, Maidstone, butcher : about 20 years of age, 0 feet 6 incher. high, dark brown hair, and slightly built. lie absconded on the 2lst instant, from Maidstone, and 13 supposed to havo gone to London to seek employment, he having worked for'" butchers there previously, or he may seek similar employ- ment in one' of the towns in the adjoiniug couhtitss; Infor- mation to be given to the Chief Superintendent of Police, Borough Police, Maidstone, Kent, who holds a warrant foi' his apprehension.—&< g:>- street, April 24. Description of BENJAMIN HARTNETT, charged at Newcastle- upon- Tyne with stealing a Sewing Machine with which ho was entrusted : about 45' years of age, 5 feet 8 or Si inche3 high, stout made rather corpulent, fresh complexion, no whiskers, dark hair, speaks with a foreign accent, described himself as a tailor ; he was dressed in black frock coal, double- breasted black vest, open front, white shirt, blue tie, black silk hat. Was seen in Liverpool on the 18thinstaut, and it. is supposed that he is about to leave the country. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, Central Police StatioD, Newcastle- upon- Tyne, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, April 24. Absconded from Shrewsbury, on the 20th instant, charged with staaling a gold Albert Guard, secret links, with plain gold Locket attached, and a Sovereign : JAMES DAVIES, a native of Shrewsbury, has worked in waggon department* on railways, 22 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, fresh com • plexion, and rather loDg thin face; dressed in short rough blue overcoat, dark trousers, and hard black billycock hat. Information to be given to Head Constable Davies, Shrewsburv, Salop, who holds a warrant for his appreliensi — Bow- street, April 24. Stolen from the ' Three Crowns,' Bridge- gate, Derby, the 12th instant j £ 30; also two dress Skirts, one b1 French merino ( with deep kilting round the bottom), the" other dark brown French poplin ( trimmed with light brown); the property of Francis Flower, the landlord. By ROSE BEAU, alias HILL, 16 years of age, stout and tall for her age, light Jjrown hair, fresh complexion, round face, and very reserved in her manner ; she is a native of Mansfield Wood- house, Notts, where her parents reside. In December Jast she was living at Radford, near Nottingham, in service, where she committed a larceny and absconded. She generally states that she has no parentB ; dressed in a brown wincey dress, imitation brown sealskin jacket, and brown straw hat turned up at the sides ; had a lady's satchel in her possession. Information to be given to Head Constable Hilton, Derby, who holds a warrant for her apprehension.— Bow- street, April 24. Stolen from the house of E. G. Davies, Churchstoke, during the night of the 9th instant; a pair of thin lace- up Boots, toe- capped, and brass eyelet- holes, middle size, recently soled. By a man who had been lodging in the house and gave the name of RICHARD DETHRIDGE, 23 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, light brown hair, dark com- plexion, boil marks on back of neck ; he says he is a biick- maker, and has worked in the neighbourhood of Wrexham ; dressed in a brown cloth coat, new cotton cord trousers, trimmed with white bone buttons, and sewn on with brown hemp, new blue and white striped cotton shirt, marked on the collar'P./ G.', a cap, aud the stolen boots. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Newtown, or to P. C. Lewis, Churchstoke, Montgomeryshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension. - Bow- street, April 21. Stolen from a dwelling house in Middlesbrough, on the 17th instant: 14 yards black Silk, with yellow border. By a man about 30 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, stout made, fresh complexion, walks rather lame on one leg, chin shaved, large light- coloured moustache, light brown hair, has a cut mark under lower lip ; dressed in a dark cloth shooting ccat, vest, and trousers, brown cloth topcoat with velvet collar, billycock hat ; carries a black leather bag, and stated he was a painter and decorator. Information to be given to Chief Constable Saggerson, Borough Police Station, Middlesbrough, Yorks.— Brns street, April 19. . m — V Description of WILLIAM PARKHOUSE, a trampiug ] Remanded to Montgomery Gaol until the 2/ th instant, labourer, a native of Uffculme, Devon, who is charged with charged with larceny : a woman who gives the name of stealing, on the 10th instant, a quantity of wearing Apparel, MARTHA JONES, says she is a native of St. Davids, recovered, at Moorhays Farm, in the parish of Burlescombe, Pembrokeshire, she is 30 years of age, 5 feet 1 inch high, Devon :• he is 36 years of age, looks older, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches brown complexion, several small cut marks on forehead, high, dark complexion, black hair, whiskers, aud moustache, dark eyes, and dark brown hair. Information to be given eyes spnk back iu head,- supposed to be slightly marked with to Superintendent Ellis, Welshpool, Montgomeryshire, suiall- pox, and bas a slight impediment in his speech; dressed street, April 24. / - Bow- w^ en seen, at Taunton, ou the 11th instant, where he sold the stolen property, iu old grey cloth jacket, much worn, dirty • white slop, fustian trousers and vest, a large white haudker- chief tied round bis neck, black billycock hat, with the crown broken down in the centre, and a small red feather stuck inside the band, and lace- up boots, with very small nails ; he had a small brass ring on the little finger of his right hand ; he stated that he was going to tramp to Bradford, Yorkshire, and is likely to be found seeking relief for the night in workhouses, or may be found sleeping in out- houses. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Collins, Devon Con- stabulary, Cullompton, Devon, who holds the warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, April 19. FELONIES. ( Not otherwise described). Absconded from Llettyrafel, near Neath, ou the 16th iustaut., charged ( on a warrant) with rape : DUNCAN McDERMID, a native of Blair Athol, Scotland, 30 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, sallow complexion, dark hair, blue eyes, long thin features, large nose, wide nostrils, very small head, hair cut short, and parted in the middle, small light tuft of hair on the chin, very small whiskers, aud large feet ; speaks with a strong Scotch accent, aud has a slight impediment; dressed in a new dark small plaid grey suit, and a round bowler hat. Information to be given to Super- intendent Howlett, County Constabulary, Neath, Glamorgan- shire.— Bow- street, April 21. AND iyQOMVAXlB MISDEMEAIOUBS. Absconded, charged with obtaining money and goods by false pretences from merchants in Portobello, near Edinburgh, and tendering Cheques on the Commercial Bank of Scotland, where he had no funds: THOMAS HUNTER ( name sup- posed to be fictitious) a German, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, and dark hair and whiskers ; dressed in brown top coat, dark cloth trousers, and low felt hat. He was accompanied by a woman about 30 years of age, and a man of a similar appearance to himself. Description of an Irish tramping labourer, charged with felony, and committed to Dolgelley Gaol for trial at the next Merionethshire Quarter Sessions : he goes by the name of JAMES HARRIS, alias JOHN HARRISON, alias DUBLIN BOB, 44 years of age, 5 feet 7f inches high, pale complexion, dark brown hair, weak blue eyes, thin face, long crooked nose, ' J. M.' on left arm, and cup mark right side of- breast; dressed in a brown velvet jacket, with thin linen slop underneath, d* rk trouaers, and lowleit hat. In 1873 he was convicted at the Michaelmas Quarter Sessions for Montgomeryshire, but escaped from the gaol before serving his time, and since then he has been tramping through parts of Denbighshire, Merionethshire, Montgomeryshire, and Carnarvonshire. Information to be given to Superintendent Hughes, Towyn, Merionethshire, who will supply photo- graphs on application.— Bow- street, April 26. Description of two persons committed for one month each for attempting to . pick pockets at Carlisle Railway Station : BENJAMIN MANSELL, cheap jack auctioneer, 33 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, dark complexion, long face, lue eyes, dark brown hair, very thin front part of head, dark brown whiskers aud moustache, slender build ; states he is from 33, Ashton- street, Oldham- road, Manchester. MARY JANE McLEAN, or MANSELL, his wife, native of Belfast, 28 years of age, 5 feet 2 or 3 inches high, stout build, round, fresh complexion, dark brown hair, blue eyes, mole on left cheek, speaks with an Irish accent. Information be given to Chief Constable Henimingway, City Police , Carlisle, Cumberland.— Bow- street, April 26. escription of JOHN HARRIS, a tramp, committed to hallerton Gaol, on the 22nd instant, for larceny : he is years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, brown hair and eyes, sallow complexion; dressed in an old grey cloth coat and vest, old fustian trousers, patched at the knees, and old lace- up boots ; he is a native of Ireland, aud is supposed to have been in the army. Information to be given to Superinten- dent Metcalfe, North Biding of Yorkshire Constabulary, Malton.— Bow- street, April 26. Description of a man who escaped from the Lunatic Asylum, Chartham, Kent, on the 19th instant: he is 35 years of ace, 5 feet 8 inches high, square build, fresh complexion, brown' hair, sandy whiskers, beard, and moustache ; dressed in the Asylum clothes— a bluish suit, white shut with red stripes, aud lace- up boots. He can speak three languages ; is well known at Dover, Folkestone, Southampton, and London ; and has been convicted of felony. Information to be given to Superintendent Walker, Kent County Constabu- lary, Canterbury.— Bom- street, April 26. Missing from his home, at Bradwell, since the 18th inst., HENRY E AMES, 24 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, fair complexion, and very light hair and whiskers ; dressed in a soft bl* ck billycock hat, black jacket with silk velvet collar, blagk cloth vest, imitation Bedford cord Trousers, and old side- spring boots. He is of unsound mind, and it is feared some ill has befallen him. Information to be given to Inspector Hall, Newport Pagnel, Bucks.— Bow- st., April 26. Remanded at Tregaron, Cardiganshire, until the 25th instant, charged with housebreaking at Bronmwyn Caron on the 28th ultimo: THOMAS LLEWELLYN, a tramp, 24 years of age, 5 feet inches high,- brown hair, blue eyes, no whiskers, slight moustache, has seven very small blue spots ou left side of face, and one ditto on back of left hand ; dressed in old check linen jacket, hairy scull cap, and cord trousers. He says he has been a collier, and was born at Pontypryn, Penderyn, Breconshire. He was accompanied by a Bligbtlj- made woman about 4 feet 10 inches high ; dressed very cleanly but shabbily. Information to be given to Superintendent Lloyd, Police Station, Aberystwith, Car- diganshire.— Bow- street, April 24. Description of FRANCIS RICKETS NELSON, com- mitted to take his trial at the next Monmouth Quarter Sessions, on a charge of lartbny : be is 21 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, stiff buik), square shoulders, fresh complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, a labourer, born in Guinea- street, Bristol, belongs' to the 2nd Somerset Militia, and it is supposed that he has been to sea, has two flags crossed, a crown, and the letters ' F. N.' on right forearm. Informa- tion to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Abergavenny, or to Superintendent Mcintosh, Monmouthshire Constabu- lary, Pontypool, or to Inspector Sheppard, County Constabu- lary, Newport, Monmouthshire.— Bow- street, April 24 Remanded to Usk Gaol until the 29 th instant, charged with uttering counterfeit coin : SIMON TWIGO ( name supposed to be fictitious), 32 yrs. of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, light complexion light brown hair, hazel eyes, small light moustache, very thin sandy tuft on chin, scar over right eyebrow, right leg shorter than the left one, caused, ho says, by an accident in a coal pit at Llwynypia about four years ago ; was born at Sutton Benger, Wiltshire, and left there 18 years ago ; dressed in dark mix- ture cloth jacket, moleskin vest, nearly new, and buttons up to the throat, cord trousers, lace- up boots with brass eyelets, black bowler hat, plaid shirt, red elastic braces, and coloured muffler.
