Siotlcc.— It is requested that all communications lor the purpose ef obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolen property, may itear the Siigncatwre of the person requiring or sending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE G AZETTE may he made and addressed to the Editor, Police Court, Bow Street, London, W. C. Whenever it ia desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the Name is gives, it is indispensably neosssarv that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all betters addressed to the Editor must l> e prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. The Names and Descriptions of Deserters from the Army, and of Absentees and Deserters from the Militia, should be forwarded on War Office Forms 88 and 88A, to the Editor, as above, for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, the other in corduroy trousers and vest, jacket, corduroy fronts with moleskin back and sleeves. Absconded, charged with assaulting and wounding P. C. Walkin, in the execution of his duty, on the night of the 21st instant, iu the parish of Old Stratford : WM. McCLOW, alias DICK THE BIRD CATCHER, a shoemaker, about 28 years of age, about 5 feet 8 inches high, pale face, sharp nose, crooked from a blow, brown hair, no whiskers, and very small moustache; generally dressed in dark jacket, brown cap, with peak of the same material, cord trousers, and. frequently wears a white apron rolled round his waist. JOHN WALKER, about 20 years of age, about 5 feet 9 inches high, light brown hair, no beard or whiskers, fair complexion, small face,, walks in a slouching manner, generally carries his hands iu his trousers pockets, and frequently has a dirty short pipe in his mouth, whetber smoking or not, has the appearance of a navvy, and has worked as such ; some- times dressed in a white slop, and a fustian jacket over it, cloth cap, fustian trousers, red neckerchief, and strong lace- up boots. Information to be given to Superintendent Thomas, Alcester, or to Inspector Antlett, County Police Station, Strat- ford- on- Avon, Warwickshire.— Bow- street, March 27. mark round near fore leg just above the hpof from the cut of a rope, and stands over hind legs ; an'- oxford Cart, painted black, picked out with red; black silver- mounted Harness, also a Rug and Whip. By a man. supposed to be named JOSEPH JOSEPHS, alia-! HENRY BEAUMONT, about 5 feet 5 inches higb, dark hair aud moustache, no whiskers, florid complexion, dark eyes ; dressed in dark plaid coat and vest, light leather breeches, high top boots, felt hat. Infor- mation to be given to Head Constable Mercer, Borough Police Office, Colchester, who holds a warrant for his appre- hension.— Bow- street, March 20. Description of a man, a boat hauler, who has absconded from Pontefract, charged with Horse stealing : he is supposed to belong to Rochdale ; is about 30 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, dark complexion, eyes, hair and moustache ; dressed in a tweed waistcoat with sleeves, and pieces in the sides to make it wider, moleskin trousers, navvy boots, and cloth cap. Infor- mation to be given to Inspector Boshier, West Riding Constabulary, Pontefract, Yorkshire,— Bow- street, March 20. Stolen on the 11th instant, from a stable at Priestfield, near Bilston, Staffordshire : a bh 1 -. re, about 14$ hands high, aged, white star on forehead, tan cut level with hocks, and in fair condition; and a set of brass- mounted Harness. Supposed by two Irishmen of the following description, one about SO years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, short grey whiskers ; dressed in a long dark coat and elastic side boots. The other about 36 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, black whiskers; dressed in moleskin trousers, cap and clogs. It is supposed that they will make their way for Birkenhead or Liverpool. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent McCrea, Police Office, Bilston, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, March 15. ARSON AID WILFUL BUEHIIG. Further information respecting the arson at Bodenham, Herefordshire, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 10th inst.: the sweep, HENRY DALEY, is committed for trial at the assizes. The woman is still at large, she is a widow and comes from Ciaues- hill, Swansea, about 45 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, rough red face, and dressed in dirty shawl and dark bonnet. Information to be given to Super- intendent Dykes, Leominster, Herefordshire.— Bvw- sireet, March 20. BURGLARY AMD BREAKING. Between 12 p. m. and 7 a. m. on the 20th instant, the dwelling- house of Mrs. Mary Cullwick, Watton- street, West- bromwich, was broken and entered and stolen therein : a brass Cornet, with silver mouthpiece ; a pair of lady's elastic side Boots ; two pairs of jet Ear- rings ; one jet Brooch ; and between £ 5 and £ 6 in Gold and Silver Monies. Information to be given to Superintendent Woollaston, Police Office, Westbromwich, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, March 27. Stolen by means of housebreaking, between 1 and 5 p. m. on the 17th instant, the sum of 4s. 4d., the property of Albert Clapp, a labourer, in the parish of Winterbourne, Gloucester- shire. By a tramp 21 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, thin figure, light hair, small light whiskers and moustache, fresh complexion, mark down one side of neck ; dressed in dark grey coat and trousers, with stripes, fur cap with strings tied over the top, and old elastic side boots. He is a tinsmith. Information to be given to Superintendent Rawle, Fishponds, or to Sergeant Monk, Hambrook, near Bristol, Gloucester- shire.— Bow- street, Mfirch 27. Description of a tramp charged with housebreaking at Codford St. Mary, Wilts, oh the lith instant: about 20 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 ipches high, light brown hair, small sandy whiskers and moustache ; dressed in dark pilot jacket, dark tweed trousers, hard bowler hat, elastic side boots with toe- caps and false laceholes, aud no socks or stockings. He is of dirty appearance, and is likely to have a red pocket handker- chief with white spots. The Boots and Handkerchief are stolen. During the night of the 23rd instant, The Grange, King's Heath, the residence of Isaac Bate, Esq , was broken into, and two silver Thimbles, and two silver plain oval cigar Ash Dishes, with crest ' bull's head,' were stolen therein. £ 100 reward will be paid by Isaac Bate, Esq., to » i) y person giving such information as will lead to the conviction of the offender or offenders. By Moss Sterne, a Russian jew, who has absconded, and for whose apprehension a warrant is issued : he is 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 iuches high, dark brown hair, slightly curled, red whiskers and moustache, fresh com- plexion, and large eyes ; dressed in dark clothes, soft felt hat, and leather leggings. Stolen from the person during the last races at Lincoln : a silver lever Watch, No. 1875; a silver verge hunting Watch, No. 2772; and a silver lever Watch, No. 23294, with a silver Albert attached. Information to be given to Chief Constable Mansell, Lincoln.— Bow- street, March 27. Stolen from tin person of HENRY FISHER, at Coppull, on the night of the 14th instant: a silver verge Watch, old make, maker's name ' Henry McCutcheon, Beaumaris,' No. 214; had attached a long brass Chain, a steel fob Chain, and a brass Key ; an old oval rather large brass Tobacco- box ; and 6s. 6d. in Silver. Stolen from the person of a gentleman at Knighton, on the 10th instant: thirty- four £ 5 Notes, issued by the North ajid South Wales Bank, fourteen bear the following Nos., 11424, 12379, 12716, 11319, 13146, 13147, 13158, 12255, 11695,10575, 12484, 11481, 11947, and 12830, are supposed to have been issued by the Knighton Branch ; and £ 40 in Gold. S. Description of WILLIAM SYLVESTER MURLEY, late a clerk at the Southall Station of the Great Western Railway, for whose apprehension a warrant has been issued upon a charge of embezzlement : about 30 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, thin, rather dark complexion, dark brown HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Further information respecting the Pony, Harness, and Trap, stolen from Burton- on- Trent, as advertised in the Police Gazette of the 17th instant: the whole of the property has been recovered at Chesterfield, where it had been exchanged for another pony, on the 15th instaut, and on the following day, the second pony was sold to a horse dealer, at Sheffield Moor, for £ 13, by the same man as before described; he then purchased a saddle, with a patch on the hair, slight whiskers and moustache, grey eyes, sharp in seat, and a double- reiued Bridle, which is ma. de up of odds 1 speaking and in his actions ; dressed in a brown tweed coat, and ends, and a snafile bit, and was traced through Retford, dark mixture trousers, aud high black hat. Description of EDWARD HENRY GLYNN, charged with embezzling £ 6 5s., the moneys of Mr. Benjamin Hartley, Birmingham, his master : he is 32 years of age, 5 feet high, dark complexion, black hair and moustache, thin face, deep sunk eyes, lost the use of left leg, walks on crutches, and is hump- backed. He is accompanied by his wife, a stout woman, and his daughter, 8 years old. Ho will no doubt endeavour to emigrate. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Glossop, Birmingham, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Jiow- street, March 24. Absconded on tha 15th instant, from Falmouth- road, embezzling £ 6 : a man, 35 years of age, 5 feet 7b inches high, florid complexion, dark hair, whiskers, and beard, a collector, of respectable appearance; witney overcoat, black cloth coat and vest, and high hat. — Metropolitan Police, M Division, March 22. Absconded on the 17th instant, from William- street, St. Peter's- street, Islington, embezzling £ 15 17s. : a man, 35 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark complexion and hair, grey eyes, full dark brown whiskers and moustache ; dressed in grey mixture coat, small hole burnt between buttons and back, dark tweed trousers aud vest, black aud white stripe scarf, side spring boots, heels much worn, black billycock hat, all old and dirty.— Metropolitan Police, N Division, Ma- ch 22. Description of a man charged withlarcery at Codford, St. Mary, Wilts, on the 14th instant: about 20 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, light hair, whiskers, and moustache; dressed in dark pilot jacket, dark tweed trousers, and hard bowler hat, and is wearing a pair of elastic- side boots, supposed stolen. Absconded from Stockcross on the 17th instant, charged with stealing: a pair of new lace- up waterproof Boots; a black cloth Coat, mueh worn; and a flag Basket ( none of which has at present been recovered) : a tramping blacksmith, who had been employed on the premises, a native of Bunham, near Reading, 45 y? ars of age, short and £. taut, pale faee, dark hair, full dark beard and moustache, aud right knee joint stiff; dressed iu the stolen coat, corduroy trousers, and thick boots. Absconded on the 16th instant, from Great Titchfield- street, St. Marylebone, embezzling £ 11 4s. 6d. : a man, 21 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, and of respectable appearance; dressed in blue chesterfield overcoat, blue diagonal under ' coat, dark mixture vest, aud trousers, and round felt hat.— Metropolitan Police, E Division, March 20. Description of ELIZA BECKWITH, alias BEEVERS, and ELIZA SHACKLETON, who absconded from the home at Wakefield, ou the llth instant, charged with stealing Wearing Apparel aud Money : Beckwith is 21 years of age, about 5 feet high, dark brown hair, brown eyes, stout make, dark complexion, two moles on throat, mole on right cheek, lost several teeth from upper and lower jaw, ears pierced, a factory hand, and a native of Leeds. Shackleton is about 20 years of age, about 5 feet high, light brown hair, blue eyes, stout made, fresh complexion, full face, and a native of Staffordshire. Both dressed when they absconded iu blue and white cottou dresses, green plaid shawls, white aprons, black straw bonnets, trimmed with black aud white cottou strings, lace- up boots, under clothing stamped ' W. It. H,' NOB. 29 aud 42. 10s. reward will be paid for the apprehen- sion of each. Information to be given to Chief Constable Chipstead, Borough Police Office, Wakefield, Yorkshire, who holds a warrant for their apprehension.— Bow- st., March\\ 7. Stolen on the 28th ultimo, from a dwelling- house in Derby : a silver Watch ( recovered), by HENRY SMITH, a cooper and native of Burton- on- Trent, about 26 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches nigh, stoutly built, dark complexion, whiskers and moustache; dressed in dark grey coat and vest, and corduroy trousers; and has worked at Messrs. Phillips's brewery, Northampton. Information to be given to the Head Constable, Derby, who holds a warrant for his appre- hension.— Bow- street, March 17. Description of JAMES SARTLE, a tramping tailor, charged with stealing a Coat and Vest, at Bromyard, on the 7th instant, recovered : about 45 years of age, 5 feet, 5 or 6 inches high, swarthy complexion, slight build, small whiskers and moustache turning grey, knock- kneed ; dressed in a black coat aud vest, light tweed trousers, high black hat, and old boots. He may be found at tailor's shops, common lodging- houses, low public or beer- houses. Information to be given to Superintendent Ovens, Police Station, Bromyard, Herefordshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension. — Bow- street, March 17. Stolen from a dwelling- house at Kersley, near Bolton- le- Moors, on the morning of the 12th install,: a silver lever Watch, with gold hands, No. 1427, near) new ; and 40s. in Silver. By a male lodger, 19 years of age, o feet 2 inches high, brown hair, sallow complexion, grey eyes, slender build, and right knee contracted, causing him to walk very lame ; dressed in a blue pilot overcoat, blaek coat and vest, shepherd plaid trousers, black billycock hat, and elastic- side, hoots. Information to be given to Superintendent Holland, Town Hall, Little Bolton, Lancashire.— Bow- street. March 17. Description of MALACHI NUGENT, a native of Northwich, who absconded on the 12th instant, charged with stealing an Overcoat ( recovered); he is 23 yrs. of age, 5 ft. 1 in. high, rather inclined to be stout, brown hair and eyes, full face, and stoops a little when walking; he waa born in England, but of Irish parents ; dressed in an old browu coat, with a hole recently burnt in one sleeve, moleskin ti oncers, an old brown cap with a button on the top, and wears clogs. Information to be given to Superintendent Rowbottom, Middlewich, or Inspector Dutton, Northwich, Cheshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— bow- street, March 17. Absconded, charged with stealing a Bill of Exchange, value £ 98 15s.: BARON GREZZA DE SMOSKEVY 28 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, pale complexion, browu hair, email dark moustache, and cast in both eyes ; dressed iD brown ulster coat with cape, dark mixture suit under, and high hat; of gentlemanly appearance, a native of Hungary, and speaks several languages fluently. Warrant issued.— — Metropolitan Police, E Dipit ' on, March 17. Stolen on the lst instant, from Worcester Park, near Kingston, Surrey : four travelling Rugs ; and a set of Horse Clothing, marked ' J. P.' By JAS. WESTCOTT, a coach- man, 28 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches higb, sallow complexion, dark brown hair and moustache, and scar on upper lip ; dressed in a pilot overcoat, grey trousers, and low black hat. His mothei resides at Topsham, near Exeter, and he has a sister at Portsmouth, where he is likely to go.— Metropolitan Police, V Division, March 17. Description of JOSEPH COX, charged with stealing from his lodging at Rodley, near Gloucester, on the Cth inst. : £ 2 in Gold, an old grey Topcoat, light velvet colour, torn uuder the arms ; a black cloth Jacket, nearly new; an old black Waistcoat, three or four buttons off; a white Hat ; and a Muffler.
