INFORMATIONS. FROM FORGERY. ROBBERY & HB LARCENY THE PERSON. Stolen from the person of Mrs. Hannah Allman, in Weston New Road, near Crewe, about 12 45 p. m. on the 12th instant: a puce leather Purse, containing a Half- sovereign. By a youth about 18 years of age, about 5 feet high, very pale face, slender build, and a little light whiskers ; dressed in a faded brown clotli coat, heavy boots, and ragged cap. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Saxton, Nantwich, or to Inspector Morris, Crewe, Cheshire.— Bow- street, Jan. 14. Stolen from the person of John Downes, Hednesford, about 9.30 p. m. on the 8th instant: a double cased silver lever Watch, No. 2129, engine- turned case, white dial, gold hands, second hand, with steel Chain attached. Information to be given to Superintendent Hill, Police Station, Brown- hills, near Walsall, or to Police Constable Cockerell, Police Station, Hednesford, near Stafford.— Bow- street, January 14. Tobacco and 3s. in Money : 36 years of age, 4 feet llf inches high, fresh complexion, light brown hair, partially bald, grey eyes, pockpitted, wart on back, and blue cut mark on left eyebrow ; dressed in a black cloth coat, drab woollen cord trousers, lace- up boots, and black billycock hat; he is a returned convict, and was discharged from Chatham Prison on tho 22ud December, 1874. Information to be given to Chief Constable Clarkson, Town Hall, Halifax, Yorkshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, January 14. During the night of the 11th instant, the store- room of Messrs. Whitehouse, Brothers, edge- tool makers, Bridge Town, Cannock, was entered by breaking the lock off the door : the drawers were ransacked, and a few auger Bits stolen. Information to be given to Superintendent Hill, Brownhills, near Walsall, or to Sergeant Evans, Cannock, near Stafford.— Bow- street, January 14. Between 6 and 9 p. m. on the 6th instant, the dwelling- house of James Elliott, of Hartley Wespall, Hants, was broken aud entored and stolen therein : an old- fashioned open- face silver Watch, dial cracked at figure 12, and ' J. E.' scratched on back, silver Albert Guard, with broken Key and Seal ( end missing) ; and a silver open- face Watch, maker ' Honeybone, Brentford,' no glass, long black silk ribbon Guard, gold Key and Seal attached. Information to be given to Inspector Brinson, Hants Constabulary, Basingstoke. Bow- street, January 14. Between 11 p. m. 5th and 6 a. m, on the 6th instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. William Hankinson, Goldthorn- hill, Upper Penn, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : a black Moscow beaver Chesterfield Greatcoat, velvet collar, double- breasted, plain buttons, lined with black Italian cloth, and the name lE. J. Phillips, 3, Queen- street, Wolverhamp- ton ' on the suspender ; a boy's ditto, similar description and make ; two pairs of green Gloves, one pair lined with blue ; a pair of boy's green calfskin Gloves ; a pair of brown cloth Gloves, lined with wash leather; and a small Box, con- taining Half a Crown and a Shilling, dated 1875. Information to be given to Inspector Tomlinson, Sedgley, or to Police Constable Wright, Upper Penn, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, January 10. BST& GLAEY AND HOTOE BREAKING. During 10 a. m. and 1 p. m. on the 13th instant, the college of Thomas Spragg, at Thrawley, in the county of Worcester, was broken and entered, and the following property stolen therein : a black cloth Jacket; a black cloth Waistcoat; a pair of brown cloth Trousers, with a dark stripe down the outside seam ; a pair of white moleskin Trousers; a silk pocket Handkerchief ; two coloured calico Shirts; an old silver Watch; and 9s. 6d. in Silver Money. Supposed by two tramps, from 20 to 30 years of age, about 5 feet 6 inches high, stout made ; one wearing a dark jacket and cloth cap, the other had on a billycock hat. They are supposed to be making for Staffordshire. Information to be given to Superintendent Raby, Great Witley, Stourport, Worcestershire.— Bow- street, January 17. Stolen by means of housebreaking between the 6th and 10th instant, at Smiddy Shaw, Muggleswick : a double- barrel breech- loading Gun, central fire, No. 12 gauge, walnut stock, is nearly new, maker H. Holland, Bond- street, London. Information to be given to Superintendent Oliver, Consett Police Station, Durham.— Bow- street, January 17. On the 16th instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. William Skidmore, Dartmouth- street, West Bromwich, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : 1 blue pilot Overcoat, with velvet collar, pockets on hips, a ticket pocket on right breast, and one inside left breast, and lined with black satin. 1 boy's Jacket, dark tweed, with pocket on hips, maker's name ' Samuels,' on the strap. 1 worsted Jacket, quite new, with black bone buttons. 2 cotton Antimacassars, one of ibetn with the figure of Elijah fed by ravens. 1 white Tablecloth. 2 pairs of men's lace- up Boots. 1 pair of men's elastic- side Boots. 1 pair of women's elastic- side Boots. 1 box of Cigars. 1 black and white mat Basket. 1 piece of Beef, about 15 lbs. weight. 3 lbs. of Sausage. 4 lbs. of Cheese. 4 lbs. of Bacon and a quantity of Grocery in a paper parcel. Information to be given to Superintendent Woollaston, West Bromwich, or to Sergeant Smith, Greets Green, West Brom- wich, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, January 17. Description of THOMAS ROSCOE, alias VICKERS, a native of Bolton, charged with burglariously entering a dwelling- house at Halifax, and stealing therein 7 lbs, of HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Stolen or strayed on the 14th instant, from a field at Oldbury, the property of John Stableford : a black Horse, nearly thorough bred, 5 years old, 15 hands 3 inches high, white star on forehead, white mark near the girth on near side, one hind fetlock white, long mane and tail, and in good condition ; also a dark chesnut Cob, thick set, with white face. Information to be given to Superintendent Kemp, Halesowen, Worcestershire.— Bow- street, January 17. Stolen between the 2nd and 4th instant, from a field at Hathen Green Farm, Stanstead, Kent : a Hampshire Down Ewe, in lamb, rose out, supposed to have pitch mark ' R.' ( in a circle) on left hip. Information to be given to Superin- tendent Hulse, Police Station, West Malling, Kent.— Bow- street, January 17. Stolen from Boreatton Park, on the night of the 5th instant: a yearling Ewe, in lamb, marked ' H.' on left side, Shropshire Down breed. Also stolen from a field at Stanwardine, near Baschurch, on the night of the 10th instaut: two ewe Sheep, in lamb, marked ' R. H,' on left side, Shropshire Down breed, the property of Mr. R. Supposed to have been stolen, from a field at Little Wenlock, on the 6th instant : a dark bay Mare, 5 years old, about 16 hands high, and suffers from pole evil, the property of Mr. William Bullock, of Wellington ; and a small dark iron- grey mare Colt, between 1 and 2 years old; the property of Mr. Thomas Matthews, of Little Wenlock. Charged, on a warrant, with stealing £ 3 7s. 2d.: ALFRED HIGGS, 14 years of age, 5 feet high, slender build, light complexion, and rather round shoulders ; dressed in a dark grey mixture jacket and trousers, glengary cap, and elastic- side boots. He was taken from the Sea Boys' Home, Pitt- street., Liverpool. Absconded] on the 4th instant, from Paxton- road, Chis- wick, embezzling £ 7 : FREDERICK PULLEN, 19 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fresh complexion, dark brown ( curly) hair, dark browi. moustache and whiskers ( meeting under chin) ; dressed in blue pilot jacket, dark vest and trousers, deer stalker hat, and side- spring boots ; is a brewer's drayman, and a native of Dorking. Warrant issued,— Metro- politan Police, T Dioision, January 17. Absconded from Bilston, about the 15th October last, charged with embezzling several sums of Money : WILLIAM ERNEST CATTELL, an unqualified medical assistant, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, rather sallow complexion, dark hair and eyes, has a careworn aspect, and slightly stooping gait. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent McCrea, Police Office, Bilston, Staffordshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, January 17. Stolen from an hotel at Luton, on the evening of the 13th instant, the following articles : a set of Billiard Balls, two white and one red ; a set of Pyramid Balls, nearly new, fifteen red and one white ; fifteen Pyramid Balls, all white ; and a set of Pool Balls, one white, one pink, one red, one yellow, one green, one brown, one blue, one spot white, one spot red, and one spot yellow. By a man, about 22 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, dark complexion, thin face, dark hair, slight dark moustace, and no whiskers; dressed in a black overcoat with black velvet collar, light mixture trousers, low shoes, and black hard billycock hat. Stolen from a bedroom at the ' Red Cow' public- house, Market Harborough, early on the morning of the 12th inst. : a black cloth Coat, single- breasted, black cloth buttons, pocket at each side and small ticket pocket in front ; a blue twill double- breasted Vest, covered buttons, a pocket on each side and watch pocket. By a man, about 55 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark hair, dark whiskers, turning grey, slender make, long thin white face, and of respectable appearance ; dressed in long black cloth coat, black trousers, and high box hat. Information to be given to Superinten- dent Holloway, Constabulary Station, Market Harborough, Leicester.— Bow- street, January 17. Stolen in Ipswich on the 10th instant: a tenon Saw, and. a mortise Guage, since recovered. By a man of the following description, about 40 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, auburn hair, pale face, very little ' whiskers ; dressed in a light brown coat, soft billycock hat, and a long white apron ; he was accompanied by a female, between 30 and 40 years of age, about 5 feet high, very stout; dressed in a black cloth jacket, and black hat; was last seen going in the direction of Woodbridge, in the county of Suffolk. Information to be given to Head Constable Mason, Police Office, Town Hall, Ipswich, Suffolk.— Bovj- sireet, January 17. Stolen on the 8th instant, from a dwelling- house, in Oldbury : a silver verge Watch, No. 2541 ; a pair of men's lace- up Boots, toe- capped and clumped. By EDMUND NORRIS, 30 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, auburn hair and whiskers, and grey eyes ; dressed in a blue pilot jacket, moleskin trousers, and a black velvet cap ; he is a labourer and states that he is a native of Wolverhampton. Informa- tion to be given to Superintendent Kemp, Halesowen, or to Police Sergeant Simmonds, Oldbury, Worcestershire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, Jan. 17. Stolen on Charged with stealing a Horse, recovered, from Fradley Junction, near Lichfield, on che night of the 2nd instant. A boat- woman, about 40 years of age, 5 feet 2 or 3 inches high, light complexion, pale face, blue mark across the nose; dressed in an old dark shawl and dress ; after she had sold the horse at Kingshill, Wednesbury, she purchased a new lilac- coloured hood ( bonnet), a thick hair net, a pair of grey stockings, and a pair of plain elastic side boots, which she is now supposed to be wearing. Information to be given to Superintendent Bowen, Burton- on- Trent, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, January 12. Stolen from Essington, about the 10th ultimo : a black horse Colt, rising 2 years old, 14 hands high, white star on face, small scars on nose and under the near eye, and in good condition. Information to be given to Superintendent Hill, Brownhills, near Walsall, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, Jan. 10. Stolen from Kerry- hill on the 25th November last : a black mare Donkey, 6 years old, white muzzle, off hind fet- lock joint crooked outwards, and hair rubbed off the fore legs by wearing fetters. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Newtown, or to Police Constable Tanner, Kerry, Montgomeryshire,— Bow- street, January 10. the 1st instant, from the ' Antelope' hotel, double- breasted drab Scotch tweed ulster Overcoat, large check on it in darker shade of drab, lined with blue Petersham, drab bone buttons with four holes, and a belt. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Coward, Borough Police Office, Guildhall, Dorchester, Dorset. — Bow- street, January 17. Description of a man charged at Guisbro', with stealing from Lingdale lane, on the 11th instant, a blue pilot cloth Topcoat, liued with scarlet and black plaid, two pockets out- side and one inside left breast, black velvet collar, marked on collar ' Fairweather, Guisbro';' a blue cloth shooting Coat, lined with black serge, black velvet collar, bound with black braid, two pockets outside and one inside left breast; a blue cloth Vest ; and a gold Albert Guard and Seal: he is 30 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, fair complexion, grey eyes, light brown hair, small light moustache, and stout build ; dressed in dark shooting coat, dark vest and trousers, low shoea, and low stiff hat, marked with paint; he is a painter, and stated he was a native of Morpeth ; he is sup- posed to be well known in Sunderland and Newcastle- on- Tyne, at one of which towns his wife is supposed to be living, and where it is supposed he may have gone. Absconded from Hednesford oa the 4th instant, charged LL with larceny as a bailee : JOHN McLOUD, a miner, 28 yrs. of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, slender build, thin features, bald on forehead, dark curly hair, dark complexion, eyes, whiskers and moustache, bow legged, very talkative, and speaks with strong Scotch accent. He is supposed to be wearing the stolen clothes— black and violet plaid cloth Coat with pocket on each side and one inside left breast, and two brown bone buttons behind ; double- breasted Yest and Trousers, with fly fronts of same material; black and white plaid Shirt; green satin Necktie; black soft billycock Hat; drab Stock- ings, and strong lace- up Boots. Information to be given to Superintendent Hill, Police Station, Brownhills, near Wall- sail, or to Police Constable Cockerel), Police Station, Hednes- ford, near Stafford, who holds a warrant for his apprehen- sion.— Bow- street, January 14. Description of GEORGE MILLER, of Tingewick, Bucks, who absconded on the 31st ultimo, charged with larceny : he is a carpenter, 30 years of age, 6 feet high, light- brown hair and whiskers; dressed in a short corduroy jacket and trousers, and black billycock hat. Information to be given to Inspector Andrews, Maidsmoreton, Buckingham, who holds a warrant for his apprehension. — Bow street, January 14. Absconded on the 10th instant, from 22, Broad- street, St. Giles's, stealing £ 4 3s. 6d. : a man, 24 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fair hair and complexion, and has three moles right side of nack; dressed in blue walking coat, brown trousers, felt hat, and heavy lace boots. Supposed gone to Bath, of which town he is a native.— Metropolitan Police, E Division, January 14. Absconded on the 9th instant from West Hartlepool, charged with embezzling about £ 700, the Monies of Messrs. Groves, Maclean and Co., shipbrokers and timber merchants : NICHOLAS AUGUST DANIELSON, a clerk, 23 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, pale complexion, grey eyes, black hair, moustache and wbiskers meeting under the chin, slender, long and thin nose, is a native of Gothenburg, Sweden, and has been ia England five years ; dressed in rough black cloth overcoat, black coat, vest and trousers, soft black billycock hat. He carried a black satchel, and has probably gone to London intending to go abroad. Informa- tion to be given to Superintendent Marley, West Hartlepool, Durham.— Bow- st. Jan. 14. Stolen, supposed by tramps, during the night of the 6th instant, from a cowshed on the farm premises of Mr. Richard Pell, at Plungar : a brown fustian Jacket, lined with red and white woollen check, has two pockets outside and one inside, in the pocket was an old red and whire cotton Pocket- handkerchief. Information to be given to Inspector Hinds, Constabulary Station, Bottesford, Leicestershire.— Bow street, January 12. Absconded on the 6th instant, from Webber- row, Blackfriars- road, embezzling £ 150 : a man, 50 years of age, 5 feet 6J- inches high, stout, sallow complexion, fair hair, heavy moustache, full face, grey eyes, and speaks with an American accent; dressed in a blue reefing jacket, black cloth trousers, side- spring boots, and black billycock hat.— Metro- politan Police, L Division, January 12. Absconded on the 8th instant, from 103, Great Titchfield- street, stealing a sealskin Jacket, trimmed with skonk : a woman, 40 years of age, 5 feet 1 inch high, sallow complexion, and of respectable appearance.— Metropolitan Police, E Division, January 12. Charged on a warrant with stealing 4 pairs of Boots, the property of Louis Woolf, on the 25th ultimo : JAMES BROWN, 37 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches higb, stout, high forehead, long nose, dark brown hair and whiskers, and of dirty appearance. He is a shoemaker and a native of Ireland, and well known in Sheffield. Iuformation to be given to Chief Constable Cook, Hull, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, January 12. Charged on a warrant with embezzlement: JAMES HENRY COOLEY, about 25 years of age, nearly 6 feet higb, very thin build, weak in the. knees, red hair, cut short, red whiskers round the face, and red moustache ; dressed in grey shooting coat, black cloth trousers, green brown over- coat, and a very long gold watch guard, with seal attached. He left Manchester on the night of the 5th instant by the 10' 55 train for London. He was employed as clerk in a merchant's office, and speaks German fluently. Had in his possession, eight £ 5 Bank of England Notes, one dated Leeds, June 26th, 1874, No. 79223 ; five dated Manchester, January 12th, 1875, Nos. 30626, 07100, 07264, 00832, and 33517 ; one dated London, March 29th, 1875, No. 31487; one Birmingham, August 8th, 1874, 72079. £ 10 reward will be paid by his late employer upon his apprehension. Informa- tion to be given to Chief Constable Palin, Detective Depart- ment, Town Hall, Manchester.— Bow- street, January 12. Charged at Chester with obtaining goods by a trick ( amounting to larceny), on the 10th instant: a man, about 63 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, light complexion, grey hair and beard, feeble- looking, slender build, long thumb on left hand, little finger of same hand contracted, and small scars on forehead ; he wears a thick muffler, a cap which turns down over his ears, dark clothes, and spectacles; he has been convicted at St. Helens. He orders goods to be sent to his lodgings, and manages to get them from the porter or shopman, and then leaves the house. The goods obtained at Chester were : six pairs of women's Hose, six woollen Shawls, 14 yards of blue Merino, 14 yards of navy blue ditto, and 14 yards of black ditto. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, Town Hall, Chester.— Bow- sireet, Jan. 12. Absconded from Dunchurch Hall, near Rugby, on the 31st ultimo : HENRY BENNETT, a groom, late in the employ of Captain Pritchard Rayner, of Dunchurch Hall, stealing : one stable Jacket and Vest ( brown and tweed) ; one pair of Trousers and Yest ( found pledged in Rugby) ; two plain calico Shirts ( blue and white striped); one German silver Watch, ' H. Jury' scratched inside case ; one common scarf Pin, the pattern of a 5- barred gate. Bennett is about 21 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, fresh complexion, blue eyes, black hair, no whiskers, scar on right jaw from wound, and both hands drawn with the rheumatics. Infor- mation to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Jervis, Rugby, Warwickshire.— Bow- street, January 10. Stolen from a bed- room at the Dudley Arms Hotel, Dudley, between 3 and 7 a. m. on the 8th iastant : a gold lever Watch, open- face, long hand bent, a gold Guard attached, with long links, dropper with a blood stone on one side, and pink stone on the other side; a silver Geneva Watch, old roman figures on face, small hand broken, ' Stuart' scratched on rim on inside case, had attached an aluminum albert Guard, snake pattern ; a gold signet Ring, oval shape, set with a blood stone; a small pocket Knife, engraved on handle ' W. Stuart'; and a quantity of gentleman's wearing Apparel, since recovered. By a man, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, slight make, dark hair, cut short, slight dark moustache and whiskers, sallow complexion, small sharp features, has lost his two eye- teeth, has two scars on forehead, speaks thickly, and is of good address; dressed in a dark grey waterproof overcoat, dark cloth trousers, white muffler, and black deerstalker hat: he represents himself to be a commercial traveller. £ 5 reward will be paid to any person giving such information as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders, and recovery of the property. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Burton, Borough Police Office, Dudley, Worcestershire.— Borw- street, January 10. Stolen from a common lodging- house at Market Har- borougb, on the 6th instant: pair of men's Trousers, brown with white stiipes across about Is- inch apart; two white calico Shirts, one clean, the other dirty, both marked in corner with red cotton ' John Wm. Bands;' a check cotton Scarf ; two calico Sheets, not much worn ; 4 yards of new Calico, and one leg of a pair of women's drawers as a pattern; six dozen of small black glass Buttons; 3 yards of new Ribbon, black and green ; 3 yards of ditto, viclet and black ; three white Falls, with black spots ; a blue Fall; and several bits of narrow silk Yelvet, of different colours. By a woman who had been stopping there since the 22nd November last : about 50 years of age, medium height, thin make, very sallow complexion, very thin face, dark hair, speaks fluently and well, has a very plausible manner, is very quick and active in her movements, and is fond of talking of having seen better days ; she carries with her a small pasteboard box ; dressed in black shawl, old brown gown, and dark bonnet. ' They carry a small box, containing apparatus for taking photographs, and represent that they are engaged by photographers at a distance, to take views of mansions, & c. He left Derby with a woman who has in her possession a pedlars certificate, taken out in the name of Roseanna Ross, dated Derby Borough, 17th May, 1875 ; she will probably present it for indorsement elsewhere. THOMAS WILKINSON, about 24 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, grey eyes, dark brown hair, fresh complexion, cut in centre of upper lip, and mole over left eyebrow ; was convicted of larceny from the person at Manchester, on the 25th Oct., 1869, and sentenced to 7 years ; was discharged on the 12th July, 1875. WILLIAM YOUNG, about 44 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, brown hair and eyes, sallow complexion, small scar below thumb and finger of left hand, small scar left cheek bone, and stout build; was convicted of forgery at North- ampton on 7th March, 1870, and sentenced to 7 years ; was discharged 17th August, 1875.
