Stolen from a field at Netley Bank, Salop, during the night of the 30th ultimo : a light bay gelding Cob, about 14 hands high, white blaze down the face, switch tail, and rising 3 years old. Stolen from a field at Slaithwaite during the night of the 27th ultimo : a grey cart Filly, rising 2 years old, about 13J hands high, long mane and tail, very full bone and large head. A reward of £ 5 will be paid to any person giving such information as will lead to the recovery of the Filly and conviction of the offender or offenders. Between 11 p. m. 5th and 6 a. m. on the 6th instant, ths dwelling- house of Mr. William Hankinson, Goldthorn- hill, Upper Penn, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : a black Moscow beaver Chesterfield Greatcoat, velvet collar, double- breasted, plain buttons, lined with black Italian cloth, and the name ' E. J. Phillips, 3. Queen- street, Wolverhamp- ton ' on the suspender ; a boy's ditto, similar description and make ; two pairs of green Gloves, one pair lined with blue ; a pair of boy's green calfskin Gloves ; a pair of brown cloth Gloves, lined with wash leather; and a small Box, con- taining Half a Crown and a Shilling, dated 1875. Absconded on the 6th instant, from Webber- row, Blackfriars- road, embezzling £ 150 : a man, 50 years of age, 5 feet inches high, stout, sallow complexion, fair hair, heavy moustache, full face, grey eyes, and speaks with an American acceut; dressed in ablue reefing jacket, black cloth trousers, side- spring boots, and black billycock hat.— Metro- politan Police, L Division, January 12. Absconded on the 8th instant, from 103, Great Titchfield- street, stealing a sealskin Jacket, trimmed with skonk : a woman, 40 years of age, 5 feet 1 inch high, sallow complexion, and of respectable appearance.— Metropolitan Police, E Division, January 12. Charged on a warrant with stealing 4 pairs of Boots, the property of Louis Woolf, on the 25th ultimo: JAMES BROWN, 37 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, stout, high forehead, long nose, dark brown hair and whiskers, and of dirty appearance. He is a shoemaker and a native of Ireland, aod well known in Sheffield. Information to be given to Chief Constable Cook, Hull, Yorkshire.— Bow- street. January 12. Stolen from the dwelling- house of Mary Weeks, at Colorne, on the afternoon of the 10th instant : £ 4 in Gold, in Silver, and a Pocket Book. By a quarryman, a lodger, 35 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, dark brown hair, and high cheek- bones ; dressed in flannel jacket, cord or fustian trousers, and black bowler bat, all covered with quarry dirt. Information to be given to Superintendent Wiltshire, Chippenham, Wilts. - Bow- street, January 12. Charged on a warrant with embezzlement: JAMES HENRY COOLEY, about 25 years of age, nearly 6 feet higb, very thin build, weak in the knees, red hair, cut short, red whiskers round the face, and red moustache ; dressed in grey shooting coat, black cloth trousers, green brown over- coat, and a very long gold watch guard, with seal attached. He left Manchester ou the night of the 5th instant by the 10 55 train for London. He was employed as clerk in a merchant's office, and speaks German fluently. Had in his possession, eight £ 5 Bank of England Notes, one dated Leeds, June 26th, 1874, No. 79223 ; five dated Manchester, January 12th, 1875, Nos. 30626, 07100, 07264, 00832, and 33517 ; one dated London, March 29th, 1875, No. 31487; one Birmingham, August 8t. b, 1874, 72079. 63 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, light complexion, grey hair aud beard, feeble- looking, slender build, long thumb ou left hand, little finger of same hand contracted, and small scars on forehead ; he wears a thick muffler, a cap which turns down over his ears, dark clothes, and spectacles; he has been convicted at St. Helens. He orders goods to be sent to his lodgings, and mauages to get them from the porter or shopman, aud then leaves the house. The goods obtained at Chester were : six pairs of women's Hose, six woollen Shawls, 14 yards of blue Merino, 14 yards of navy blue ditto, and 14 yards of black ditto. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, Town Hall, Chester.— Bow- street, Jan. 12. Absconded on the 9th instant from West Hartlepool, charged with embezzling about £ 700, the. Monies of Messrs. Groves, Maclean and Co., shipbrokers and timber merchants : NICHOLAS AUGUST DANIELSON, a clerk, 23 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, pale complexion, grey eyes, black hair, moustache and whiskers meeting under the chin, slender, long and thin nose, is a native of Gothenburg, Sweden, and has been ia England five years; dressed in rough black cloth overcoat, black coat, vest and trousers, soft black billycock hat. Information to be given to Superin- tendent Marley, West Hartlepool, Durham.— Bou- st. Jan. 12. Absconded from Dunchurch Hall, near Rugby, on the 31st ultimo : HENRY BENNETT, a groom, late in the employ of Captain Pritchard Rayner, of Dunchurch Hail, stealing: one stable Jacket and Vest ( brown and tweed) ; one pair of Trousers and Vest ( found pledged in Rugby) ; two plain calico Shirts ( blue and white striped); one Geimau silver Watch, ' H. Jury'scratched inside case ; one common scarf Pin, the pattern of a 5- barred gate. Bennett is about 21 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, fresh complexion, blue eyes, black hair, no whiskers, scar on right jaw from wound, and both hands drawn with the rheumatics. Stolen from a bed- room at the Dudley Arms Hotel, Dudley, between 3 and 7 a. m. on the 8th iiastant : a gold lever Watch, open- face, long hand bent, a gold Guard attached, with long links, dropper with a blood stone on one side, and pink stone on the other side; a silver Geneva Watch, old roman figures on face, small hand broken, ' Stuart' scratched on rim on inside case, had attached au aluminum albert Guard, snake pattern ; a gold signet Ring, oval shape, set with a blood stone; a small pocket Knife, engraved on handle ' W. Stuart'; and a quantity of gentleman's wearing Apparel, since recovered. By a man, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, slight make, dark hair, cut short, slight dark moustache and whiskers, sallow complexion, small sbarp features, has. lost his two eye- teeth, has two scars on forehead, speaks thickly, and is of good address; dressed in a dark grey waterproof overcoat, dark cloth trousers, white muffler, and black deerstalker hat: he represents himself to be a commercial traveller. £ 5 reward will be paid to any person giving such information as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders, and recovery of the property. Rands ;' a check cotton Scarf ; two calico Sheets, not much worn ; 4 yards of new Calico, and one leg of a pair of women's drawers as a pattern ; six dozen of small black glass Buttons; 3 yards of new Bibbon, black and green ; 3 yards of ditto, viclet aud black ; three white Falls, with black spots ; a blue Fall; and several bits of narrow silk Velvet, of different colours. By a woman who had been stopping there since the 22nd November last : about 50 years of age, medium height, thin make, very sallow complexion, very thin face, dark hair, speaks fluently and well, has a very plausible manner, is very quick and active in her movements, aud is fond of talking of having seen better days ; she carries with her a small pasteboard box ; dressed in black shawl, old brown gown, and dark bonnet. Informa- tion to be given to Superintendent Holloway, Constabulary Station, Market Harborough, Leicestershire. — Bow- street, January 10. Absconded on the 3rd instant, from Queen's Gardens, Bayswater, stealing £ 80 : a mac, 56 years of age, 6 ft. 1 inch high, fair complexion, grey hair, whiskers and moustache ; dressed in black frock coat, grey mixture trousers, and high black hat; of military appearance.— Metropolitan Police-, X Division, January 7. Absconded from Long Sutton on the 2.9th ultimo • THOMAS SMITH, alias WILLIAM FLETCHER, ear' penter, supposed a native of Standground, near Peterboro', charged with stealing Carpenters' Tools ( recovered); about 35 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, of sickly appear- ance, tattooed on both arms, light brown hair, and sandy whiskers; dressed in old light jacket, old light- coloured trousers with stiipes down the sides, soft black billycock bat, wears an old pair of wellington boot, tops under his trousers as leggings. He is accompanied by a woman much older than himself, her hair quite grey, slightly pockmarked, tali and thin ; wears a brown dress, velvet jacket, and black straw hat. They are both addicted to drink, and likely to be found in low beer- houses. Supposed to be well- known in Sheffield. Information to be given to Sergeant Biggadike, Polic » Station, Long Sutton, Wisbeach, Lincolnshire, who holds a warrant for the man's apprehension.— Bow- street, January 7. FRANCIS WILMOT, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 8th ultimo, charged with stealing 40 elm Boards, was on bail till the Quarter Sessions, held at Devizes, on the 4th instant, but failed to appear. A bench warrant is issued for his apprehension. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Stretten, Wilts Constabulary, Marlborough. — Bow- street, January 7. Stolen on the lst instant, from the Shrewsbury Arms Hotel, Stafford : a light- brown Overcoat, with brown bone buttons, ticket pocket on right side, large pockets on hips and brown lining, which has been repaired ; and a pair of black cloth Trousers, nearly new. By a tramping stableman, about 35 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, round features, light hair, whiskers and moustache; supposed dressed in grey mixture stable jacket and vest, black cloth trousers, black and white check shirt, white muffler with black spots, and strong lace- up boots. He says he was formerly employed as a stableman at the Training Stables, Middlebam, and he will probably seek employment at Livery Stables, Posting Stables, and Tramways. Information to be given to Inspector Hackney, Guildhall, Stafford.— Bow- street, January 5. Absconded from Chilton, in the parish of Atcham, Salop, on the 22nd ultimo, charged on a warrant with embezzle- ment : JAMES KITE, late a farm labourer in the employ- ment of Mr. Jeffery Poole, of Chilton, about 25 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, fresh complexion, no whiskers, has lost the right eye, and wears a shade ; dressed in dark jacket and vest, clean cotton cord trousers, strong lace- up boots, and low black hat. Information to be given to Super- intendent Howells, County Constabulary, Shrewsbury, Salop.— Bow- street, January 5. Description of JOSEPH RICHARD WILLS, charged with stealing— a gold lever Watch, with inscription in French inside ; a gold Chain ; three gold Rings ; a Mourning Brooch, engraved on the back ' Peter Foote'; and a sum of Money :— 18 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches higb, pale complexion, and light brown hair ; he is a seaman, belonging to H. M. ship ' Duncan,' at Sheerness. Information to be given to Superintendent Wilshire, Folkestone, Kent, who holds a war- rant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, January 5. Stolen on the 24th ultimo, from the Barrel Inn, Ross a pair of dark mixture cloth Trousers, with fly fronts and buckle at waistband, and have been darned in the seat ; a black high crowned hard felt Hat, with blue lining, size with white stain marks outside the crown ; a Militia Shirt, linen front; and a pair of new blue cotton Stockings ; the property of Thomas Sheppard. By JOHN NICHOLLS, tramping fitter, 23 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, slight make, light hair, and no whiskers ; dressed in black cloth jacket, dark plaid trousers, old spring side boots, and the stolen hat. He is a native of Smethwick, near Birmingham, and is likely to be found working at a foundry or fitting shop. Information to be given to " inspector Hackney, Guildhall, Stafford.— Bow- street, January 5. Description of a man remanded at Morpeth until the 13th instant ( charged with stealing, on the 17th ultimo, a lady's gold Watch, No. 50191, maker E. Wakefield, Gates- head): DAV. HARGREAVES, alias FRED SOMERTON, a tramping working jeweller, about 40 years of age, 5 feet 5| inches high, blue eyes, light hair, fair complexion, round face, no whiskers or moustache, long nose, bald head, and proportionate build ; a native of Manchester. States that he has tramped through Yorkshire into Wales, and back again, working for various watchmakers on the route. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Cocks, Northumberland Constabulary, Morpeth. | Bowslreet, January 12. WM. JOHNSON and WM. BARNETT, advertised in the Poiice Gazette of the 5tli instant as remanded at Shaftes- bury, are committed for trial at the next Dorset Lent Assizes. Johnson was convicted of larceny at Chipping Norton iu January, 1874 ; and Barrett, who has admitted that the name and address he gave are fictitious, has the following tattoo marks on him : the American coat of arms on light arm, a brig on left arm, the letter ' D.' on left breast, and a cut mark under left eye. Information to be given to Superin- tendent Broan, Dorset Constabulary, Shaftesbury.— Bow- street, January 12. Missing from his home in Warrington- street, Higher Tianmere, since 5- 45 [ p. m. on the 3rd instant: EDWARD WARD, 57 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, light brown hair, fair complexion, dark blue eyes, sandy whiskers round the face, no moustache, and stout build ; dressed in a grey tweed suit, black soft felt hat, white calico shirt, with linen front and cuffs, and two gold studs, ' E. Ward' marked at the bottom of the front, white calico singlet, white twill calico drawers, marked ' E. Ward' on the band, and white woollen knee caps; he had in his pocket an old- fashioned silver lever hunting watch, with ' Edward Ward' on inside of the case, aad ' W.' on the outside, maker Wood, Liverpool. It is feared some ill has befallen him. £ 5 reward will be paid on his discovery, on application at the above address. Information to be given to Superintendent Egerton, County Hall, Abbey - street, Birkenhead, Cheshire. — Bow- street, January 12. Missing from 1, Fydell- street, Boston, since 11 p. m. on the 29th ultimo : AUSTIN FOSTER, about 49 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, dark hair, with patch of white on top of head, little dark beard on chin, and slender figure; dressed in grey tweed coat, black cloth vest, dark grey trousers, darned at seat and knees, black billycock hat, elastic- side boots, and had an apron tied round his waist. It is feared some ill has befallen him, as a basket which he was known to be carrying has since been found floating out to sea, in the Haven. Information to be given to Head Constable Bellamy, Borough Police Office, Boston, Lincolnshire.— Bow- street, January 12. FRAUDS AND AGGRAVATED MISDEMEANOURS. Description of THOMAS PONTER, charged with abduction, and bailed for trial, who absconded and failed to surrender to take his trial at the Assizes, at Worcester, on the 20th ultimo : he is 43 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches higb, sallow complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, bald on top of head, scar on forehead ; he is a small hand- vise maker, and a native of Dudley; he is supposed to be travelling as a musician, and playing at low beer- houses. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Burton, Borough Police Office, Dudley, Worcestershire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, January 12. Description of JOHN HENRY COATES, charged under warrant at Bradford, with obtaining Money by false pretences: he is a convict license holder, and has failed to report himself, 35 years of age, 5 feet 5J inches high, fresh complexion, blue eyes, brown bair, a weaver ( but never works) and native of Pudsey, good education, nearly blind left eye, ruptured right side, wears false teeth, no whiskers, but carries false moustache and whiskers with him ; dressed in black cloth coat, striped cloth trousers, very light boots, silk hat, puce- coloured tie, and kid gloves, with fur round bottoms. Information to be given to Superintendent Ball, North Riding Constabulary Office, Bradford.— Bow- street, January 12. Obtained by false pretences on the 6th instant, at West- wood, near Bridgnorth, from Mrs. Jones : an old- fashioned silver verge Watch, with steel Chain, and 0.. e- penny and a Three- penny Peice in Silver attached. By a man, about 25 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches higb, dark complexion; diessed in dark clothes, black hat, carried a basket, travelling about clock and watch cleaning. Information to be given to Superintendent Ivins, Bridgnorth, Salop. — Bow- street, January 12. Obtained by means of a false cheque from 45, South Audley- street, the Bum of £ 8 6s. 3d. By a man, 35 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark complexion, hair, and whiskers; dressed in black frock coat, black trousers, and hat. Warrant issued.— Metropolitan Police, C Division, January 12. Description of two lads charged on a warrant with obtaining £ 1 by false pretences, from Robert Browning, inn- keeper, of Cockfield, on the 25th ultimo : WALTER CHOAT, a drover, about 15 years of age, 5 feet high, stout buiid, fresh complexion, with sores on one side of face ; dressed in light coat and trousers, dark vest, black billycock hat, black leather leggings, with buttons, and black mackintosh, nearly new.
