About 9.20 p. m., on the 24th instant, the Dead Body of a Female Child was found in a thoroughfare in the borough ) f Bolton, wrapped iu two hand- towels aud a piece of brown „ aper. The towel which was next to the body is a little marked with blood, made of ' nap' or ' Russian' towelliug, very far worn, size 28 by 21 inches, has a red stripe aud tape- like barder at cach end, and the border about three- quarters of iu inch wide. Tho other towel is ' honey comb' or ' hucka- back,' about half- worn, 33 in. s by 18i ins., has four double - trip'js ° f red running through from end to end, 5 ins. apart, and a red stripe three- quarters of an inch broad at each end, with fringe border, two very small holes at one end, aud is uite clean. At the Coroner's inquest a verdict of ' Wilful Alurdev' was returned against some person or persons uukuowrf. Iuformation to be given to Chief Constable Beech, Ti'o fro. On the 19th instant, the dead Body of a newly born male ( ' hild was found in a field adjoining the towing- path of the Grand Junction Canal, in the parish of Water Eton, Bucks, and at the coroner's inquest a verdict of ' Wilful Murder gainst some person unknown' was returned. Description of a Frenchman, giving the name of ALPHONSE BONNEAU, charged on a warrant with obtaining .£ 120 by a forged Bill of Lading, at Portsmouth ; from 45 to 50 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, stout build, rather bald ou top ef head, large moustache, and no whiskers; dressed in brown overcoat, billycock hat, and wearing an open white shirt front. He calls upon large buyers of corn, and has Bills of Lading for cargoes of wheat, beans, ; he represents the vessels to be en route from a port iu the North of France, to wait orders at Falmouth, aud requires an ad- vance to purchase coals for the vessel to take back from South Wales, and also stays at Temperance or Private Hotels, and speaks very little Euglish. Information to be given to Chief Constable Jervis, Portsmouth.— Bow- street, December 22. BUEGLAET AND EEGUEE BREAKING, During the night of the 22ud instant the Booking Office at Hope Junction on the Wrexham Mold and Connah's Quay Railway was broken and entered ; and on the same night the Booking Office at the Caergwele Railway Station was broken and entered, and a gentleman's black felt Hat stolen therein. Supposed by a man about 40 years of age, 5 feet high, sandy beard and moustache, ' Jim Crow' hat, mingled brown cloth coat, cord trousers, aud socks. Information to- be given to Deputy Chief Constable Adams, Mold, Flintshire, North Wales!— Bow- street, December 31. During the night of the 23rd instant the Office of the Cannock and Leacroft Colliery, Cannock, was broken and entered and stolen therein : two small Pocket Books, and two short blue Flannel Jackets, such as are worn by engine- drivers and fitters. Information to be given to Superin- tendent Hill, Brownhills, near Walsall, or to Sergeant Evans, Cannock, near Stafford.— Bow- street, December 31. Between 6 and 8 p. m., on the evening of the 27th instant' the dwelling- house of Mr. Charles Edward Hansell, grocer, of St. Albans, was broken and entered, and a mahogany Desk, containing [ from £ 15 to £ 20 in Gold, £ 17 in Silver, £ 4 in Coppers, 2s. iu Farthings, and one £ 5 Bank of England Note stolen therein. Also 2lbs. of Returns, lib. of Shag Tobacco, aud about 4 lbs. of Tea. Information to be given to the Head Constable, St. Albans, Herts.— Bow- street, December 31. Further information respecting the shopbreaking at a watehmaker's shop in Bolton, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 13th inst. : the silver English lever Watch, No. 26534, has since been found pawned in Manchester, by a nan who gave the name of GEORGE ECKERSLEY ( supposed fictitious), of Thompson- street, Manchester. £ 5 reward will be paid to any person giving such information a3 will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders and recovery of the propeity, or in proportion thereto. About 4 p. m. on the 3rd instaut, the dead Body of a , wjy_ born male Child was found near a lodge in a mill- yard fa Bolton ; at the coroner's ii. quest a verdict of ' Wilful " Vluvder' was returned against some person or persons ' nkuowD. The body was wrapped in a portion ot a woman's ' drabbet chemise, about half a yard square, clean and of good material, over which was a piece of glazed brown paper, tied with shreds of calico. A reward of £ 50 will be paid by Her Majesty's Government to any person who will give such in- formation and evidence as shall lead to the conviction of the murderer or murderers, and Mr. Secretary Cross will advise the giant of Her Majesty's gracious pardon to any accomplice, not being the person who actually committed the murder, who will° give such evidence as shall lead to a like result. At 7 a. m. on the 19th instant, the dead Body of a newly- born male Child, full grown ( supposed to have been dead five or six hours), was found iu a field adjoining the towing- path 0f the Grand Junction Canal, in the parish or township of Water Eton. At the coroners inquest a verdict of ' Wilful murder against some person or persons unknown,' was returned. The bay cob Marc stolen from a stable at Gillinghain> Kent, as advertised in the Police Gazette of the 3rd ultimo, has been recovered, add HENRY ETHEL, alias GEORGE SMITH, a convict licence- holder, is committed for trial at the next West Kent Quarter Sessions, for stealing the same. Stolen on the night of the 22nd instate „:~> ui a fold yard at Much Fawley : a chesnut Pony, 4 years old, nearly 12 hands high, small white star ea forehead, long tail, and is very fat, the propei ty of Mr. Joseph Bellamy, cattle dealer. £ 5 reward will be paid on conviction of tho offender or offenders and recovery of the Pony. Supposed to have been stolen from a field at Lulliugton, on the night of the 14th instant: two shearling Ram3, Shrop- shire breed, marked on side, ' Nos. 15 and 17' ( nearly oblite- rated). Information t > be given to Superintendent Hallarn, Police Station, Woodville, Burton- on- Trent, Derbyshire— Bou.- urcet, December 28. On the 16th instant a man of the following description obtained a Mare in York by false pretences bv a cheque for £ 60, signed ' John Ford,' drawn on Lloyd's Baukiug Com- pany limited, Deritend, Birmingham, where he lias no account He is about 60 years of age, 5 feet [ 8 inches higb, dark complexion, rather long dark hair, turning grey, grey whiskers, thin face, dirk sunken eyes, slim build, and appeared to be rather deaf; dressed in a blue frock coat, dark trousers, box hat, wore a heavy gold Albert Chain, and thick heavy ring on second finger of right hand ; he stated that he was a spirit, merchant and distiller in Birmingham, and wanted the Mare for his son to ride or drive ; was accompanied by a man about 25 years of age, about 5 ft. 8 ins. high, light complexiou, round face, broad forehead, light whiskers and moustache, haircut short, cut mark on cheek in shape of letter V, and stout build; dressed in a browx short coat, dark trousers, black felt hat, and of respectable appear- ance. The Mare is brown, 5 yrs. old, 15 hands 3 ins. high, the legs white up to the fetlocks, black near forefoot, off forefoot white, with a crack in front, wart under near side eye, rather large head, au enlargement of the off side hock, and shoes marked ' T. Pybue.' Information to be given to Chief Con- stable Haley, York City Police, who holds a warrant for the apprehension of the man ' FORD.'— Bow- street, December 26. Description of ROBERT GRANT, labourer, a native of Downham, near Lynn, Norfolk, charged with stealing a Horse and Tracing Harness on the 14th instant ( since re- covered) : about 50 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fresh complexion, dark hair turning grey, grey eyes, small sandy whiskers, broken nose, cut mark in corner of left eye, rather deaf, and speaks the Norfolk dialect; dressed in an old grey mixture suit. Information to be given to Captain Ormsby, West Riding Constabulary Office, Halifax, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Boic- street, Dxember 24. Stolen at Frindsbury, duriDg the night of the 21st inst. : a Kent Lamb, marked ' W. E.' iu red paint. Information to be given to Superintendent Coppinger, Chatham, Kent.— Bow- street, December 24. On the 22nd instant, the dwelling- house of John Sly, of Gillingham, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : a brown Greatcoat, with velvet collar ; a pair of black cloth Trousers; a silk Handkerchief, with red border; aud an open- face silver Watch. Suspicion is attached to a youth, about 18 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, dark hair, and fresh complexiou ; dressed in old brown coat, cord vest and trousers, black billycock hat, and old lace- up boots. Information to be given to Superintendent Brown, Dorset Constabulary, Shaftesbury.— Bow- street, December 29. Found at Stoke, next Guildford, on the 19th instant ( supposed to have been stolen) : a light bay Horse, about 14J hands high, in good condition, without shoes, and feet worn down. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Cos stable Barker, Surrey Constabulary, Guildford.— Bcui- ltreei, December 24. Supposed stolen about the Gth instant, from a field at Gom's Mill, near Longtonj: a bright bay Colt about 16 hands high, 3 years old. Any person who will give such information as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders, shall receive a reward of six guineas from the Longton Association for the Prosecutirn of Felons, and six guineas from Messrs. Stolen from Rheidhowell, in the parish of Llandinam, during the last month : a bay Pony in foal, rising 3 years old, about 12 hands high, white star on forehead, spittle mark under the near ear, a thumb notch above, and the off ear cropped; and a cream- coloured entire Pony, white face, rising 3 years old, about 11 hands high, and spittle mark under each ear. If stolen, £ 10 reward will be paid on the appre- hension and conviction of the offenders and recovery of the ponies. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Newton, or to Police Constable Pearson, Caersws, Montgomeryshire.— Bow- street, December 22. larceny and £ mb£ zzl£ me11 Description of WILLIAM MOON, alias COCKNEY BILL, charged oa a warrant with stealing four pairs of Boots, ene pair of Sea Boots, four sets of new Lasts, and some new Leather, on the 21st instant ; the property of George Ernest Peters : 35 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches higb, saliow complexion, slightly pockmarked, black thin whiskers, no moustache, and has lost several front teeth ; dressed in a pilot jacket, soft felt hat, and grey vest; he is a tramping shoemaker. Information to be given to Head Constable Richardson, South Shields, Durham.— Bow- street, Dec. 31. Absconded from Bradford- on- Avon, on the 29th instant, charged with obtaining a pair of nearly new black cloth Trousers by false pretences : JOHN MORRIS, 25 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, dark hair and eyes, and rather stout built; dressed in black cloth coat and trousers, silk velvet vest, soft felt hat, and military boots. He belongs to the 13th Foot, and is on furlough. He is in company with a man, about 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, dark hair and eyes, and rather stout built; dressed in old grey cloth coat, canvas slop, and moleskin Uousers ; a labourer. Information to be given to Inspector Magna, wilts Constabulary. Bradford- on- Avon, who holds a warrant for the apprehension of Morris. — Bow- street, December 31. Description of JAMES BROWN, a hawker or coster- monger, travelling with a truck or barrow, who is charged on a warrant, with stealing from Nutley Farm, Hants, on the 16th instant, nine Sheep Skin?, recovered : he is about 35 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, pale complexion, faes shaved, excepting tuft of hair on chin, thick lips, mole or wart on right cheek, and blotchey face ; dressed iu light brown or speckled jacket or coat, cloth trousers, fitting tight, torn across both knees, and daik stripes down the sides, two waistcoats, and white slop underneath, and hard felt hat, rather high in the crown. Information to be given to Inspector Brinson, Hants Constabulary, Basingstoke, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bov street, Dcc. 31. Absconded from Brighton, on the 26th instant, charged with stealing ,£ 25 10s., consisting of Gold and a £' o Bank of England Note, with ' Mrs. White' written on the back : ADA SMITH, a servant, 20 years of age, short and stout, light complexion, and full light blue eyes ; dressed iu a grey linsey drees, short black jacket, with two rows of black buttons down the front, aud a black straw bonnet, trimmed with violet coloured ribbor. She is Irish, and it is supposed that she has gone to Ireland, probably to Belfast. Infor- mation to be given to Chief Constable White, Town Hall, Brighton, Sussex.— Bow- streat, December 31. Charged with obtaining a Great- coat by a trick, amount- ing to larceny, at Chester, on the 24th instant : a man about 34 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, face all shaved except the chin, fair complexiou, and thin features ; dressed in black frock coat, with white slop underneath, drab trousers, round black hat, and had the heel of one of his boots cut away. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, Town Hall, Chester.— Bowstitet, December 29. Stolen from a dwelling- house at Quarrington, on the 21st instant: a brown cloth Overcoat, double- breasted, three outside pockets, two on the left, and one on the right side, black velvet collar, and large black bone buttons. By GEORGE F. CLARKE, a pianoforte tuner, who lodged in the house and absconded, wearing the overcoat : he is about 28 years of age, J feet 10 inches high, light complexion, dark bold eyes, black curly hair, cut short behind, black moustache, no whiskers, aud stoutly built; dressed iu a black double- breasted cloth coat, rather long, dark mixture vest, black and white mixture trousers, black billycock hat, and white knitted gloves ; he carries a black leather bag, and black walking- stick ; he has a ring on his finger, with carbuncle stone; he presents cards of ' Fawcett's type.' Information to be given to Superintendent Stevenitt, Sleaford, Lincolnshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, December 29. CHARLES HERBERT ROGERS, who absconded from Honey street Wharf, on the 5th instant, charged with embezzlement, enlisted iuto the Royal Marines at Stone- house, Devon, in the name of ROBERT WARE, on the 10th instant, aud on his way to join the Depot at Deal he deserted at Westminster, on the 14th instant. See Police Gazette of the 20th instant, for both offences. £ 5 reward is offered for his apprehension. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Stretten, Wilts Constabulary, Marlborough. — Bow- street, December 29. Absconded on the 23rd instant, from Pendeford Mill, near Wolverhampton, charged with stealing £ 29 10s. in Gold and a quantity of men's Wearing Apparel: a man, about 5 feet 10 inches high, slight build, black curly hair, very little whiskers, a long cut in centre of chin, his nose appears as if it bad been broken, and his lower front teeth very loose and projecting ; he has gone to Birmingham, and is known in the neighbourhood of Pontypool. He will probably endeavour to obtain employment as a groom or gardener in some small family. Information to be given to Police Constable Hope, Cadsall, near Wolverhampton, Staffordshire.— Bmi- st., De- cember 28. Charged on a warrant with stealing Money : HENRY H. DAWSON, 8, Southampton- street, Strand, 20 years of 2ge, 5 feet 9 inches high, sallew complexion, dark brown hair, large ears, aud high cheek bones; dressed in blue Petersham overcoat, and high black hat. He is likely to visit Welshpool. And FREDERICK MUNRO, of No. 5, Compton- terrace, Cannonbury- square, 16 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, fair complexion, light brown hair, and pro- minent nose ; dressed iu ulster coat, and grey mixture suit. Stolen from a garden hedge at Hunger- street, Wigmore, on the 20th instant: a white calico Shirt, cloth collar and wristbands, the property of George Higgins. By a tramp, 50 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, light complexion, light sandy hair aud whiskers, one hand injured, walks lame ,• dressed in a brown cord jacket, cord trousers, jimcrow hat. and old strong boots ; he speaks with a Welsh accent, and k supposed to have gone to„ Breconshire or Radnorshire. Philpotts, Police Station, Wigmore, Herefordshire.— Bow- street, December 24, Description of JAMES CUNNINGHAM, charged with stealing four Pheasants and a Partridge, from William Kearton, of Richmond, on the 4th instant : he is 28 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, light whiskers sides of face aud under chin, thick lips, large mouth, and proportionate figure ; dressed in dark cloth suit, black billycock hat, and strong nailed boot3. Charged with obtaining Money by false pretences : a man calling himself DOCTOR CLARKE, of 97, Scotland- road, Liverpool, and 15, Nicolson- street, Edinburgh, 25 to 30 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches higb, dark brown hair, no whiskers, full round red face, smart appearance, and good address ; dressed in a blue cloth ulster top- coat, with waist- band, carried a small leather bag, and had a large showy finger Ring. He travels the country pretending to be able to cure all manner of diseases, his assistant calls at houses and leaves large printed bills, containing numerous testimonials of previous cures ; these bills are afterwards called for by the ' Doctor,' who personally gives particulars of cures effected on some well known tradesmen in the district. Description of a man who was found Dead, supposed to have been drowned, in a small rivei in Wintergill, at the township of Glazedale ; name supposed ' J. TANNETT,' about 27 or 28 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, fresh complexion, dark hair and moustache, no whiskers, rather full face : dressed in dark clothes, old elastic- side boots, and blue striped shirt. In one of his pockets was found a deposit note from the Post- office at Handswortb, and addressed ' J. Tannett, Handsworth, Woodhouse, Sheffield,' also an agreement between J. Tannett and H. Beaumoat, and Fred. Melville. The body is supposed to be that of one of the 1 Royal Britannia Company,' who gave an entertainment at Grosmont on the 4th instant, and left on the 7th instant for Rosedale, and appears to have been dead about three weeks. T.' and anchor on left arm,' S. S.' and ' J. T.' on left arm; dressed in an old cotton dress, and generally wears a shawl over her head.
