Description of a Frenchman, giving the name of ALPHONSE BONNEAU, charged on a warrant with obtaining £ 120 by a forged Bill of Lading, at Portsmouth ; from 45 to 50 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, stout build, rather bald ou top & f head, large moustache, and no whiskers; dressed in brown overcoat, billycock hat, and wearing an open white shirt front. He calls upon large buyers of corn, and has Bills of Lading for cargoes of wheat, beans, & c. ; he represents the vessels to be en route from a port in the North of France, to wait orders at Falmouth, and requires an ad: vance to purchase coals for the vessel to take back from South Wales, and also stays at Temperance or Private Hotels, and speaks very little English. Stolen on the night of the 29th ultimo, from the person : a silver lever Watch, No. 3608, gold hands, and a small crack on dial, and a gold Albert Chain, curb pattern, stamped ' 18 carat,' and had a spade Guinea attached. Information to be giveu to Head Constable Oglethorpe, Borough Police Station, Preston, Lancashire.— Bow- street, January 3. recovery of the property, or a proportionate reward for any portion thereof. Information to be given to Superintendent Booth, Police Office, Stockton- on- Tees, Durham.— Bcis- street, December 31. On the 22nd instant, the dwelling- house of John Sly, of Gillingham, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : a brown Greatcoat, with velvet collar; a pair of black cloth Trousers; a silk Handkerchief, with red border; and an open- face silver Watch. Suspicion is attached to a youth, about 18 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, dark hair, and fresh complexion ; dressed in old brown coat, cord vest and trousers, black billycock hat, and old lace- up boots. Information to be given to Superintendent Brown, Dorset Constabulary, Shaftesbury.— Bow- street, December 29. Further information respecting the shopbreaking at a watchmaker's shop in Bolton, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 13th inst. : the silver Englig. J^ lever Watch, No. 26534, has since been found pawned in Manchester, by a man who gave the name of GEORGE ECKERSLEY ( supposed fictitious), of Thompson- street, Manchester. £ 5 reward will be paid to any person giving such information as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders and recovery of the property, or in proportion thereto. At the coroner's inquest a verdict of ' Wilful murder against some person or persons unknown,' was returned. Description of one of the men suspected: 25 to 30 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, very fair and fresh complexion, light hair, short whiskers and moustache, full face, stout figure, peculiar cast in one eye, large rough hands, and thick fingers; dressed in rough blue pilot overcoot, and light pepper- and- salt- coloured cloth trousers. A common brace and an auger bit, with the name of ' Harris,' were left on the premises. £ 40 reward will be paid for the appre- hension and conviction of the offender or offenders ancl Description of ROBERT GRANT, labourer, a native of Downham, near Lynn, Norfolk, charged with stealing a Horse and Tracing Harness on the 14th instant ( since re- covered) : about 50 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fresh complexion, dark hair' turning grey, grey eyes, small sandy whiskers, broken nose, cut mark iu corner of left eye, rather deaf, and speaks the Norfolk dialect; dressed in an old grey mixture suit. Information to be given to Captain Ormsby, West Riding Constabulary Office, Halifax, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, December 24. Stolen at Frindsbury, during the night of the 21st inst. : a Kent Lamb, marked ' W. E.' in red paint. Information to be given to Superintendent Coppinger, Chatham, Kent.— Bow- street, December 24. Found at Stoke, next Guildford, on the 19 th instant ( supposed to have been, stolen) : a light bay Horse, about 14| hands high, in good condition, without shoes, and feet worn down. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Coa- stable Barker, Surrey Constabulary, Guildford.— Bow- street, December 24. Supposed stolen about the 6th instant, from a field at Gom's Mill, near Longtonj: a bright bay Colt about 16 hands high, 3 years old. Any person who will give such information as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders, shall receive a reward of six guineas from the Longton Association for the Prosecution of Felons, ancl six guineas from Messrs. LARCENY AID EMBEZSLEMEK Description of WILLIAM BANKS, late of Market Drayton, labourer, charged with stealing, on the 9th ultimo, four Fowls ( recovered), the property of John Dain : 27_ years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair and eyes, scar on right ear, and stoops ; dressed in pilot jacket, moleskin vest, cotton cord trousers, rough cloth cap, strong lace- up boots, and may be wearing a bluo witney overcoat. He was convicted of larceny from the person in 1872, also of larceny in 1874 ; it is supposed that he will enlist at Canter- bury or Aldershot. Information to be given to Superinten- dent Haines, Whitchurch, or to Sergeant Galliers, Market Drayton, Salop, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, January 3. Charged ( on a sheriff's warrant) with embezzling £ 280 belonging to a firm of ironmasters in Glasgow : WILLIAM SUTHERLAND BROWN, a traveller, about 26 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, fair hair parted in the centre, and short, slight, fair whiskers; dressed in brown tweed suit and brown felt hat, and frequently wears light brown gaiters ; is of dissipated habits, but has a smart and respectable appear- ance. Information to be given to Chief Constable McCall, Glasgow.— Bow street, Jmma'y 3. Absconded on the 28th ultimo, from 54, Charles- street, City- road, embezzling £ 20 : a man, 24 years of age, 5 ft. 6 ins. high, sallow complexion, dark hair and eyes, Roman nose, and Blight moustache; dark dress, long dark overcoat and trousers, and black billycock hat. He is a collector.— Metro- politan Police, G Division, January 3. Description of RICHARD SMITH, alias ' DECK O,' a minder in a cotton mill, a native of Hyde or Dukinfield, Cheshire, charged with stealing on the 22nd ultimo, a pair of • watertight Boots, recovered : he is about 42 yeais of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, brown hair, cut short behind, sallow complexion, no teeth in front, moustache, no whiskers, and slender build ; dressed in pilot monkey jacket, black vest, greasy trousers, black and white woollen scarf, soft billycock bat, with broad brim, and blucher boots. Information to be given to Inspector Whincup, West Riding Constabulary Office, Woobroad, Saddlewortb, who holds a warrant for hia apprehension.— Bow- street, January 3. Further information respecting BENJAMIN MADDER, tailor, of Bungay, charged with embezzlement, and advertised in the Police Gazette of the 25th October last. He was traced to Chelmsford with his wife and children, stayed there one night, and went in the direction of London, and is now supposed to be working at his trade in the neigh- bourhood of Pimlico. Information to be given to Inspector Foster, Bimgay, Suffolk, who holds the warrant for his appre- hension.— Bow- street, January 3, Description of WILLIAM MOON, alias COCKNEY BILL, charged oa a warrant with stealing four pairs of Boots, sne pair of Sea Boots, four sets of new Lasts, and some new Leather, on the 21st instant; the property of George Ernest Peters : 35 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, sallow complexion, slightly pockmarked, black thin whiskers, no moustache, and has lost several front teeth ; dressed in a pilot jacket, soft felt hat, and grey vest; he is a tramping shoemaker. Information to be given to Head Constable Richardson, South Shields, Durham— Bow- street, Dec. 31. Absconded from Bradford- on- Avon, on the 29th instant. embezzlement, - enlisted into the Royal Marines at Stone- house, Devon, in tbe name of ROBERT WARE, on the 10th instant, and on his way to join the Dep6t at Deal he deserted at Westminster, on the 14th instant. See Police Gazette of the 20th instant, for both offences. £ 5 reward is offered for his apprehension. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Stretten, Wilts Constabulary, Marlborough.— Bow- street, December 29. Absconded on the 23rd instant, from Pendeford Mill, near Wolverhampton, charged with stealing £ 29 10s. in Gold and a quantity of men's Wearing Apparel: a man, about ^ feet 10 inches high, slight build, black curly hair, very little whiskers, a long cut in centre of chin, his nose appears as if it had been broken, and his lower front teeth very loose and projecting ; he has gone to Birmingham, and is known in the neighbourhood of Pontypool. He will probably endeavour to obtain employment as a groom or gardener in some small family. Information to be given to Police Constable Hope, Codsall, near Wolverhampton, Staffordshire.— Bow- st., De- cember 28. Charged on a warrant with stealing Money : HENRY H. DAWSON, 8, Southampton- street, Strand, 20 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, sallow complexion, dark brown hair, large ears, and high cheek bones; dressed in blue Petersham overcoat, and high black hat. He is likely to visit Welshpool. And FREDERICK MUNRO, of No. 5, Compton- terrace, Cannonbury- square, 16 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, fair complexion, light brown hair, and pro- minent nose ; dressed iu ulster coat, and grey mixture suit. They are both clerks. Information to be given to Inspector Jacob, Police Station, Fleet- street, London, E. C.— Bow- street, December 28. Stolen from a garden hedge at Hunger- street, Wigmore, on the 20th instant: a white calico Shirt, cloth collar and wristbands, the property of George Higgins. By a tramp, 50 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, light complexion, light sandy hair and whiskers, one hand injured, walks lame; dressed in a brown cord jacket, cord trousers, jimcrow hat. and old strong boots; he speaks with a Welsh accent, and is. supposed to hav « gone to Breconshire or Radnorshire. In- formation to be given to Superintendent Dykes, Police Station, Leominster, or to P. S. Philpotts, Police Station, Wigmore, Herefordshire.— Bow- street, December 24. Description of JAMES CUNNINGHAM, charged with four Pheasants and a Partridge, from William Kearton, of Richmond, on the 4th instant : he is 28 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, light whiskers sides of face and under chin, thick lips, large mouth, and proportionate figure ; dressed in dark cloth suit, black billycock hat, and strong nailed boot". Information to be given to Head Constable Camfield, Richmond, Yorkshire. — Bow- street, December 24. IEAUDS AND AGGRAVATED MISDEMEANOURS. Charged with obtaining Money by false pretences : a man calling himself DOCTOR CLARKE, of 97, Scotland- road, Liverpool, and 15, Nicolson- street, Edinburgh, 25 to 30 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, dark brown hair, no whiskers, full round red face, smart appearance, and good address ; dressed in a blue cloth ulster top- coat, with waist- I . - f ^ I' TT I band, carried a small leather bag, and had a large showy charged with obtaining a pair of nearly new black cloth > Re ^ k £ nretendinz to be able to flannel and two pieces of calico, and in the box was a light- coloured window curtain, bordered with a red material; the- box and its contents are supposed to have been in the river about a month. Information to be given to Head Constable Davies, Shrewsbury, Salop.— Bow- street, January 3. Description of three men, giving the names of JOSEPH BROWN, of Kent, WILLIAM ALTON, of Broome, War- wickshire, and JOHN RICE, alias EDWARDS, of Bristol:. Brown and Alton are committed for trial at the Gloucester Quarter Sessions on the 5th instant, for larceny, and Rice is remanded until the same day at Northleach ; they were seeking work on the Cheltenham and Barbury Railway as. navvies : Brown is 23 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, brown hair, small light whiskers, dark sallow complexion,, and upright figure; Alton is 20 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, brown hair, grey eyes, fair complexion, and small dark whiskers ; and Rice is 23 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, no whiskers, on the right arm cross flags, a crown, the words ' John Mary, Harris Knights,' and an anchor, and on the left, arm Sarah Osgood. In their possession were found poaching implements of every description, and they had with them a black lucher dog. Description of THOMAS WILLIAMS, a navvy, com- mitted for crial at the next Monmouthshire Quarter Sessions, at Usk, on a charge of larceny from the person : 27 years of age, 6 feet high, grey eyes, dark hair, fresh complexion, clean shaved chin, no moustache, and strong and muscular build- He belongs to Cheddar in Somersetshire, and says he has worked at Cardiff, Merthyr, Pontypool, and Bristol. Infor- mation to be given at the Police Office, Town- hall, Newport, Monmoutb.— Bow- street, December 31. Description of JULIA WALMSLEY, committed for trial to Northallerton Sessions, for larceny at Middlesborough on the 28th instant: a native of Grave- sreet, Hunslet- lane,. Description of a man who was found Dead, supposed to have been drowned, in a small river in Wintergill, at the township of Glazedale ; name supposed ' J. TANNETT,' about 27 or 28 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, fresh complexion, dark hair and moustache, no whiskers, rather full face : dressed in dark clothes, old elastic- side boots, and blue striped shirt. In one of his poekets was found a deposit note from the Post- office at Handsworth, and addressed ' J. Tannett, Handsworth, Woodhouse, Sheffield,' also an agreement between J. Tannett and H. Beaumont, and Fred. Melville. The body is supposed to be that of one of the ' Royal Britannia Company,' who gave an entertainment at Gresmont on the 4th instant, and left on the 7th instant for Rosedale, and appears to have been dead about three weeks.
