INFORMATIONS. sjuedeb and maliciously wounding. On the 19th instant, the dead Body of a newly born male Child was fouud in a field adjoining the towing- path of the Grand Junction Canal, in the parish of Water Eton, Bucks, and at the coroner's inquest a verdict of ' Wilful Murder amriiiSt somo person unknown'was returned. A reword of jf50 will be paid by tho Government, to any person who will give such information and evidence as shall lead to the discovery and conviction of the murderer or murderers, and the Home Secretary will adviso the grant of Her Majesty's gracious pardon to any accomplice, not being the person who actually committed the murder, who will give such evidence as shall lead to a like result. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, Aylesbury, or to Superintendent hedley, ifeuuv Stratford, Bucks.— Bow- street, December 28. About 4 p. m. on the 3rd instant, the dead Body of a uewly- born male Child was found near a lodge iu a mill- yard iu Bolton ; at the coroner's inquest a verdict of ' Wilful Murder' was returned against some person or persons unknown. The body was wrapped in a portion ot a woman's drabbet chemise, about half a yard square, clean and of good material, oVer which was a piece nf glazed brown paper, tied with shreds of calico. A reward of £ 50 will be paid by Her Majesty's Govern ment to any person who wilt give such inr formation and evidence as shall lead to the conviction of the murderer or muiderers, and Mr. Secretary Cross will advice the giaut of Her Majesty's gracious pardon to any accomplice, not being the person who actually committed the murder, who will° give such evidence as shall lead to a like result. Information to be given to Chief Constable Beech, Bolton- io Moot 3, Lancashire.— Bow- itreet, December 24. At 7 a. m. on the 19th instant, the dead Body of a newly- born male Child, full grown ( supposed to have been dead five or six hours), was found iu a field adjoining the towing- path of the Grand Junction Canal, in the parish or township of Water Etou. At the coroner's inquest a verdict of ' Wilful murder agaiust some person or persons unknown,' was returned. On the night of the 11th instant, two stacks of Barley Straw, the property of George Heury Jackson, of Farlington, were burnt and destroyed, supposed by an incendiary. Infor- mation to be given to Superinteudent Hunter, Hewortli, or to Inspector Ellerby, Easingwold, North Ridijg of Yorkshire. Bow- street, December 20. bueglaky and house breaking, On the 22nd instant, the dwelling- house of John Sly, of Gillingham, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : a brown Greatcoat, with velvet collar ; a pair of black cloth Trousers; a silk Handkerchief, with red border; and an open- face silver Watcb. Suspicion is attached to a youth, about 18 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, dark hair, and fresh complexion ; dressed iu old brown coat, cord vest and trousers, black billycock hat, and old lace- up boots. Information to be given to Superintendent Brown, Dorset Constabulary, Shaftesbury.— Bow- street, December 29. Further information respecting the shopbreaking at a watchmaker's shop in Bolton, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 13th iust. : the silver English lever Watch, No. 2C534, has since been found pawned iu Manchester, by a man who gave the name of GEORGE ECKERSLEY ( supposed fictitious), of Thompson- street, Manchester. £ 5 reward will be paid to any person giving such information as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders and recovery of the property, or in proportion thereto. A reward of £ 5 will be given to any person giving information to either Debenham or Framliugham Police Stations, Suffolk, which will lead to the apprehension aud conviction of the offender or offenders and recovery of the property, or in pro- portion thereto.— Bow- street, December 20. dark complexion, rather long dark hair, turning grey, grey whiskers, thin face, dark sunken eyes, slim build, and appeared to be rather deaf; dressed in a blue frock coat, dark trousers, box hat, wore a heavy gold Albert ChaiD, and thick heavy ring on second finger of right hand ; he stated that he was a spirit, merchant and distiller in Birmingham, and wanted the Mare for his son to ride or drive ; was accompanied by a man about 25 years of age, about 5 ft. 8 ins. high, light complexion, round face, broad forehead, light whiskers and moustache, hair cut short, cut mark on cheek in shape of letter V, and stout build; dressed in a brows short coat, dark trousers, black felt hat, aud of respectable appear- ance. The Mare is brown, 5 yrs. old, 15 hands 3 ins. high, the legs wliito up to the fetlocks, black near forefoot, olf forefoot white, with a crack iu front, wart under near side eye, rather large head, au enlargement of the off side hock, and shoes marked ' T. Pybus.' Information to be given to Chief Con- stable Haley, York City Police, who holds a warrant for the apprehension of the man ' FORD.'— Bow- street, December 28. Description of ROBERT GRANT, labourer, a native of Downham, near Lynn, Norfolk, charged with stealing a Horse and Tracing Harness on the 14th instant ( since re- covered) : about 50 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fresh complexion, dark hair turning grey, grey eyes, small sandy whiskers, broken nose, cut mark iu corner of left eye, rather deaf, and speaks the Norfolk dialect; dressed in an old grey mixture suit. Stolen at Frindsbury, during the night of the 21st iust. : a Kent Lamb, marked ' W. E.' in red paint. Information to be given to Superintendent Coppinger, Chatham, Kent,— Bow- street, December 24. Found at Stoke, next Guildford, on the 19th instant ( supposed to have been stolen) : a light bay Horse, about 14Js hands high, in good condition, without shoes, and feet worn down. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Cot. stable Barker, surrey Constabulary, Guildford.— Bow- street, December 24. Supposed stolen about the 6th instant, from a field at Gom's Mill, near Longton',: a bright bay Colt about 1G hands high, 3 years old. Any person who will give such information as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of tho offender or offenders, shall receive a reward of six guineas from the Longton Association for the Prosecution of Felons, aud six guineas from Messrs. Holland and Creen, manufacturers, Longton. Information to be given to Super- intendent McWilliams, Police Station, Longton, or tu Messrs. Clarke and Hawley, Solicitors and Treasurers to the Longton Association for the Prosecution of Felons.— Bow- street, December 24. Stolen from Rheidhowell, in the parish of Llandinam, during the last month : a bay Pony in foal, rising 3 years old, about 12 hands high, white star on forehead, spittle mark under the near ear, a thumb notch above, and the off ear cropped ; aud a cream- coloured entire Pony, white face, rising 3 years old, about. 11 hands high, and spittle mark under each ear. If stolen, £ 10 reward will be paid ou the appre- hension aud conviction of tha offenders and recovery of the ponies. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Newton, or to Police Constable Pearson, Caersws, Montgomeryshire.— Emu- street, December 22. I'QKGEEY. Absconded, charged with obtaining £ 5 by means of a forged Order: a man, 20 years of age, 6 feet high, ruddy complexion, brown moustache, tuft ou chin ; dressed in Irish freize overcoat, velvet collar, grey check trousers, and high black bat ; he is a public- house agent.— Metropolitan Police, E Division, December 29. Description of a Frenchman, giving the name of ALPHONSE BONNEAU, charged on a warrant with obtaining ,£ 120 by a forged Bill of Lading at Portsmouth from 40 to 50 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, stout build, ratber bald on top uf head, largo moustache, and no whiskers; dressed in brown overcoat, billycock hat, and wearing au open white shirt front. He calls upon large buyers of corn, and has Bills of Ladiug for cargoes of wheat, beans, &<•. ; he leprcsents the vossels to be en route from a port in the North of France, to wait orders at Falmouth, and requires an ad- vance to purchase coals for the vessel to take back from South Wales, aud also stays at Temperance or Private Hotels, and speaks very little English. Information to be given to Chief Constable Jervis, Portsmouth,— Bow- street, December 22. HOESE AND CATTLE STEALING. The bay cob Mare stolen from a stable at Gilliugham> Kent, as advertised in the Police Gazette of the 3rd ultimo has been recovered, aud HENRY ETHEL, alias GEORGE SMITH, a convict licence- holder, is committed for trial at the next West Kent Quarter Sessions, for stealing the same. Information to be given to Superintendent Coppinger, Kent County Constabulaiy, Chatham.— Bow- street, December 29. Stolen on the night of the 22ud instant, from a fold yard at Much Fawley : a chesnut Pony, 4 years old, nearly 12 hands high, small white star en forehead, long tail, and is very fat, the property of Mr. Joseph Bellamy, cattle dealer. £ 5 reward will be paid on conviction of the offender or offenders and recovery of the Pony. Information to be given to Superin- tendent Cope, Shire Hall, Hereford, or to Superintendent Smith, ross, Hereford.— Bow street, December 28. Supposed to have been stolen from a field at Lulliugton, on the night of the 14th instant: two shearling Rams, Shrop- shire breed, marked oil side, ' No?. 15 and 17' ( uearly oblite- rated). Information to be given to Superintendent hallam, Police Station, Woodville, Burton- ou- Trent, Derbyshire— Bou.- sireet, December 28. On the 16th instant a man of the following description obtained a Mare iu York by false pretences by a chequo for £ 60, signed ' John Ford,' drawn on Lloyd's Bankiug Com- pany limited, Deritend, Birmingham, where he has no account. He i? about 60 years of age, 5 feel 8 inches high, LAEGENY EMBEZZLEME& X Charged with obtaining a Great- coat by a trick, amount- ing to larceny, at Chester, ou the 24th instant: a man abiut 34 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, face all shaved except the chiu, fair complexion, and thin features; dressed in black frock coat, with white slop underneath, drab trousers, round black hat, and had the heel of one of his boots cut away. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, Town Hall, Chester.— Bow- street, December 29. Stolen from a dwelling- house at Qaarrington, on tho 21st instant: a brown cloth Overcoat, double- breasted, three outside pockets, two on the left, aud one on the right side, black velvet collar, and large black bone buttons. By GEORGE F. CLARKE, a pianoforte tuner, who lodged in the house and absconded, wearing the overcoat : he is about 28 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, light complexion, dark bold eyes, black curly hair, cut short behind, black moustache, no whiskers, and stoutly built ; dressed in a black double breasted cloth coat, rather long, dark mixture vest, black and white mixture trousers, black billycock hat, and white knitted gloves ; he carries > a black leather bag, and black walking- stick ; he has a ling on his finger, with carbuncle stone; he presents cards of ' Fawcett's type.' Information to be given to Superintendent Stevenitt, Sleaford, Lincoln^ iie, who holds a warraut for his apprehension.— Bow- street, December 29. CHARLES HERBERT ROGERS, who absconded from Honey- strett Wharf, ou the 5th instant, charged with embezzlement, enlisted into the Royal Marines at Stone- house, Devon, iu the name of ROBERT WARE, on the 10th instant, and on his way to join the Dep6t at Deal he deserted at Westminster, on the 14th instant. See Police Gazette of the 20th instant, for both offences. £ 5 reward is offered for his apprehension. Absconded on the 23rd instant, from Pendeford Mill, near Wolverhampton, charged with stealing £ 29 10s. in Gold and a quantity of men's Wearing Apparel: a man, about 5 feet 10 inches high, slight build, black curly hair, very little • whiskers, a long cut in centre of chin, his nose appears as if it had been broken, and his lower front teeth very loose aud projecting ; be has gone to Birmingham, and is known in the neighbourhood of Pontypool. He will probably endeavour to obtain employment as a groom or gardener in some small family. Iuformation to be given to Polic9 Constable Hope, Codsall, near Wolverhampton, Staffordshire.— Bow- st., De- cember 28. Charged on a wan- ant with stealing Monoy : HENRY H. DAWSON, 8, Southampton- street, Strand, 20 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, sallow complexion, dark brown hair, large ears, and high cheek bones; dressed in blue Petersham overcoat, and high black hat. He is likely to visit Welshpool. And FREDERICK MUNRO, of No. 5, Comptou- terrace, Cannonbury- square, 16 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, fair complexion, light brown hair, and pro- minent nose ; dressed iu ulster coat, aud grey mixture suit. They are both clerks. Iuformation to be given to Inspector Jacob, Police Station, Fleet- street, London, E. C.— Bow- street, December 28. Stolen from a garden hedge at Hunger- street, Wigmore, on the 20th instant : a white calico Shirt, cloth collar and wristbands, the property of George Higgins. By a tramp, 50 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, light complexion, light sandy hair aud whiskers, one hand injured, walks lame; dressed in a brown cord jacket, cord trousers, jimcrow hat. and old strong boots; he speaks with a Welsh accent, and u supposed to have gone to^ Breconshire or Radnorshire. In- formation to be given to Superintendent Dykes, Police Station, Leominster, or to P. S. Philpotts, Police Station, Wigmore, Herefordshire.— Bow- street, December 21. Description of JAMES CUNNINGHAM, charged with stealing four Pheasauts and a Partridge, from William Keartou, of Richmond, on the 4th instant : he is 28 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, light whiskers sides of face and under chin, thick lips, large mouth, and proportionate figure ; dressed in dark cloth suit, black billycock hat, aud strong nailed boots. Information to be given to Head Constable Camfield, Richmond, Yorkshire. — Bmo- street, December 24. Absconded: JOSEPH JAMES WILKINS, charged with stealing .£ 13 9s., belonging to his master Mr. Potts, music- seller, of North- street, Brighton ; is a genteel- looking lad, about 15 years of age, right ear deformed, and dark complexion; dressed in dark clothes and billycock hat. Information to be given to Chief Constable White, Brighton, who has a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, Dec. 22. Description of THOMAS TEASDALE, a labourer . and native of Cumberland, who absconded from Penrith, on the 16th instant, charged en a warrant with obtaining a new pair of Boots by false pretences : about 25 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, slender figure, fair hair, small light whiskers, pale complexion, and has marks of king's evil under one ear; dressed in new drab cord trousers, new moleskin waistcoat, check kirtle, and cap, with peak. He took with him a suit of new dark check tweed clothes. He may be found working upon a railway or other public works. Information to be given to Superintendent Fowler, Penrith, or at the County Chief Constable's Office, Carlisle.— Bow- street, December 22. Description of WILLIAM HARBIRD, of Richmond, Surrey, milkman, charged on a warrant with embezzling several sums of Money o£ his employers : he is 20 years of age, 5 feet 2 or 3 inches high, short light hair, Bmall light i whiskers, fair complexion, full fresh face ; dressed in cord jacket and trousers, tweed vest, had also a blue pilot jacket | ( faded) Information to be given to Superintendent Dobson, ! Springfield, Chelmsford, Essex, who holds the warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, December 20. Description of three men charged with stealing, about 5 p. m. on the 15th instant, from a cashbox iu the bar at the White Hart public- house, St. Alban's, two Sovereigns, six Half- sovereigns, several Sixpences, a Cash Book, au Inventory of furniture, with the name of ' Passiugham,' and au Agree ment of the White hart public- house : One, 24 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, fresh complexion, slight moustache. Another, 28 years of age, 5 feet 6 innhes higb, dark hair, fresh complexion, neat black moustache, and has lost a front tooth in upper jaw. The other, 33 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, dark complexion, red face, rather high cheekbones, no whiskers or moujtache. They are dressed in dark clothes and black felt hats ; they drove into the town from the Barnet- road with a dark iion- grey cob and a Stanhope or Dennet gig, and took the Barnet- road back the same evening ; they were at the White Hart on the previous day, and left by the 7' 40 Great Northern train for London. Information to be given to the Head Constable, St. Alban's, Herts.— Bow- street, December 20. Description of CHARLES MOY, charged on a warrant with stealing on the 2ud instant : a linen Bag, and 12s., the property of Harry Ironman, at Hoton, Leicestershire : he is 28 or 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, dark brown hair, meeting under the chin, slender make, very small nose, the lower part eaten by disease; he is a painter, and says he is a native of Finchley Common, Middlesex ; dressed iu old black cloth clothes, much worn, and black stiff felt hat. In- formation to be given to Superintendent Peberdy, Lough- borough, Leicestershire.— Bow- street, December 20. Description of JOHN CHELL, alias HARRIS, who is charged on a warrant with stealing Straw, at Chatteris : he is about 40 years of age, about 5 feet 5 inches high, stiff build, rather stout, dark complexion and hair, dark whiskers round his face, very dark peculiar eyes, swings his right arm and leg, and looks on the ground when walking ; he is a great drinker of whiskey, and has lived at Longton, Stafford- shire ; he has been lodging at a beer- house in Chatteris, for some months past, excepting at short intervals, and has bought large quantities of Straw and some Hay in that neighbourhood. Information to be given to Inspector Mitchell, Chatteris, Cambs.— Bono- street, December 20. Absconded from Honey- street ' Wharf, Marlborough, Wilts, on the 5th iustant, charged with embezzling a large sum of money : CHARLES HERBERT ROGERS, a clerk in the employ of Messrs. ltobbins, Lane, and Pinniger, 19 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, light brown hair, pale face, prominent nose, Blight build, respectable looking, talks through his nose ; dressed in dark mixture suit; he has been apprentice to a Liverpool ship owner, and has been to South America on a voyage of about 18 months. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Stretten, Wilts Con- stabulary, Marlborough, who holds a warrant for his appre- hension.— Bmc- street December 20. Description of EDWARD GLOVER, charged with stealing, at Wellington, on the 30th ultimo, a quantity of Walnuts, the property of his masters, the Loudon and North Western and Great Western Railway Companies : he is a railway porter, 20 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, dark iiair, eyes, and complexion, no whiskers or moustache; dressed in dark suit of clothes. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Richardson, Wellington, Salop, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bov- street, Dcc. 20. Absconded from Pilsley, on the 10th instant, charged with stealing twenty tame Pigeons ( since recovered) : J OHN FARMER, a collier, and a native of Nottingham ( where his father keeps a public- house), 21 years of age, 5 feet 6| inches high, light sandy hair, brown eyes, ' C. J.' and sickle outside right forearm, and ' F.' outside left forearm. He was dis- charged from Leicester County Gaol on the 1st Sept., 1875, after serving six months for shopbreaking. Information to be given to Superintendent Coope, County Police Station, Alfreton, Derbyshire, who holds the warrant for his appre- sion.— Bow- street, December 20. FELONIES. Description of two men who have absconded, charged with rape at Ince, on the 28th ultimo ( with two other men, who were each sentenced to 10 years penal servitude on the 13th instant, at the Liverpool Assizes) : one is about 28 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, fresh complexion, light brown hair, no whiskers, a little in- kneed, aud walks rather lame. The other is about 19 years of age ( but looks older), 5 feet high, sallow complexiou, dark brown hair, and pockpitted. They are colliers, and natives of Hindley. He travels the country pretending to be able to cure all manner of diseases, his assistant calls at houses and leaves large printed bills, containing numerous testimonials of previous cures ; these bills are afterwards called for by the ' Doctor,' who personally gives particulars of cures effected ou some well known tradesmen in the district. Bolitho and Company, Penzance, Cornwall, at which house he lias no account : about 35 years of age, about 5 feet 9 ins. high, sallow complexiou, dark brown moustache, no whiskers, full face, deeply pockmarked, especially on his nose, aud medium build ; dressed in dark mixture tweed jacket, vest, and trousers, dark rough loose overcoat, ticket pocket on each side, black soft billycock hat, and black and white muffler. He represented that he was a fruit dealer, he mentioned the names of Bradnum, of Smithfield Market, Manchester, aud Coveut- garden, London, Laudin, of Man- chester, aud Simpson and Barlow, of Birmingham, wholesale fruit dealers, and he induced a fruit dealer named Wood, of Stafford, who had given him an order for oranges, to introduce him to the bank. His proper name may be JACOB CORRIN. He stated that he had a large ware- house near the South Eastern Railway Station, Plymouth. Both men had reversible mackintosh coats, one side light, the other dark, and stated that they were from London, but it is supposed that they are from Nottingham. Description of a man who was found Dead, supposed to have been drowned, in a small rivei in Wintergill, at the township of Glazedale ; name supposed ' J. TANNETT' about 27 or 28 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, fresh complexion, dark hair and moustache, no whiskers, rather full face ; dressed in dark clothes, old elastic- side boots, and blue striped shirt. In one of his pockets was found a deposit note from the Post- office at Handsworth, and addressed ' J. Tannett, Handsworth, Woodhouse, Sheffield,' also an agreement between J. Tannett and H. Beaumont, and Fred. Melville. The body is supposed to be that of one of the ' Royal Britannia Company,' who gave an entertainment at Grosmont on the 4th instant, and left on the 7th instant for Rosedale, and appears to have been dead about three weeks.
