As no charge is made for the insertion of any aiticle in the POLICE GAZETTE, all tetters addressed to" the Editor most be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. The Names and Descriptions of Deserters from the Army, and of Absentees and Deserters from the Militia, should bo forwarded on War Office Eorms 88 and 88A, to the Editor, as above, for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE. INFORMATIONS M1JRDEE AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING, Absconded on the 7th instant, charged with stabbing : a youth, 18 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fair complexion, hair, and eyes ; dressed in grey overcoat, dark suit, hard black felt hat, a cabinet maker.— Metropolitan Police, N Division, December 15. On the 5th instant, about 4 p. m., the dead body of a newly born male infant was found on the ice in a pool, by the road side, at Hartlebury. At the coroner's inquest, a verdict of ' Wilful Murder against some person unknown' was returned. Information to be given to Superintendent Raby, Great Witley, or to Sergeant Ganderton, Stourport, Worces- tershire.— Bow- street, December 10. On the 18th ultimo the body of a newly- born female Child was found in the large reservoir in the Corporation- park, Blackburn, where it is supposed to have been about seven days. At the coronor's inquest a verdict of ' Wilful Murder against some person unknown' was returned. The body of the child was wrapped in an old worn- out calico chemise, with needle- work edging on the top, and a small piece of worn- out drugget of small pattern. Her Majesty's Government will give a reward of £ 50 to any person who shall give such information and evidence as shall lead to the discovery and conviction of the murderer or murderers, and Mr. Secretary Cross will advise the grant of Her Majesty's gracious pardon to any accomplice, not being the person who actually committed tho murder, who shall give such evidence as will lead to a like result. Information to be given to Chief Constable Potts, Town Hall, Blackburn, Lancashire.— Bow- street, December 8. The dead Body of a newly- born female Child ( full- grown) was found near the Rope Works in Alexandra- passage, leading to Ash- street, Wolverhampton, on the morning of the 26th ultimo, wrapped in a calico napkin, and placed in an old dark stuff bag ( much worn). At the Coroner's inquest the jury returned a verdict of ' Wilful Murder against some person or persons unknown.' Stolen from a watchmaker's shop at Bolton, between 10.30 p. m. the 8th and 8.45 a. m. the 9th instant, by taking down a shutter forming a portion of the door : 1 silver English lever Watch, centre seconds, dome back, extra jewelled, maker's name ' C. and E. Isherwood, Bolton,' No. 43,280. 2 silver English lever Watches, gold joints, double sunk dials, chronomer balance,' Oversprung.' The num- bers are made up of five figures, the four first being 2653. 1 or 2 silver Geneva Watches, maker ' Nichol, Geneve,' on the dial; private mark ' S. O. | y' scratched on the back of the case. 1 or 2 silver Geneva Watches, maker ' Henri Touchon' on the dial. 1 Boston silver lever Watch, with the words ' Patent Lever' on the dome, maker's name either ' Nichol, Geneve,' or ' Henri Touchon.' 1 lady's small Geneva gold Watch. 1 silver Geneva Watch. 1 lady's gold Victoria Albert Chain, snake pattern, with ball ornaments, about 4 inches apart. From 7 to 10 gentlemen's gold Albert Chains, snake pattern, curb pattern, and secret link. FORGERY. ^^ Vbsconded on the 9th instant, charged on a warrant with forging and uttering a Bank Cheque for £ 4,800, ALEX. MARTIN, a stockbroker's clerk : 21 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, stout build, brown hair ( parted in centre and buBhy behind), grey eyes, fair complexion, small light moustache, and very thick thumbs with short nails ; dressed in a dark brown and grey broken- check rough tweed coat and vest, rough chesterfield overcoat, and low- crowned felt hat; he wears a gold albort and plain gold finger ring, with a horse engraved on it; is a native of Glasgow, and has a gentlemanly appearance. It is supposed he will endeavour to leave the country. Information to be given to Chief Constable M'Call, Glasgow, Lanarkshire.— Bow- street, De- cember 15. BURGLARY AND SOUSE BREAKING, Absconded, charged with several cases of housebreaking in the neighbourhood o'f Wrexham : JOHN EVANS, alias NOSEY, 26 years of age, 5 feet 5! t inches high, dark com- plexion, dark brown hair, hazel eyes, long nose turning to the right, large mouth, long face, and pockmarked ; he is a faxm labourer, a native of Wrexham, and was discharged from Ruthin Gaol, after six months imprisonment, in April, 1874. His companion in the above offences has been committed for trial on two charges of housebreaking. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Bradshaw, County Police Office, Wrexham, Denbighshire.— Bow- street, December 13. On the 8th instant, the dwelling- house of Wm. Hatchet, Catisfield, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : a blue cloth Monkey Jacket, wich pockets on hips ; a white Slop, open in front, with pockets ; a pair of dark grey Trousers ; a pair of light grey ditto, with fall fronts; two billycock Hats ; and two pairs of lace- up Boots, one pair with patches on bottoms and new tips on heek, the other pair has been recovered. By a man about 20 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, fresh complexion, and full face ; dressed in the stolen clothing, and carries a sailor's canvas bag. He stated that he had lately been discharged from the 60th Rifles ; he frequents low lodging- houses. Stolen by means of house- breaking in Aberdeen, during the night of the 9th instant: a piece of blue nap great coat Cloth, from 2J to 2f yards long, by If yard wide ; a piece of same Cloth, but the end of the web, 2 yards long, has the usual marks; four pieces of black elisan great coat Cloth, one 2f to 3 yards long ( damaged), one 2 yards long, one 2f yards long, one 3| to 3Jj yards long ; a piece of greenish tinge nap Overcoating, 2^ yards long ; a piece of checked Tweed, 8 yards long, 29 inches wide, of a dark dull brown colour; a piece of grey Tweed, 8 yards long and 29 inches wide ; a piece of checked Tweed, 2| yards long, grey ground, with stripe; two pieces of grey Tweed, plain light colour, one 2f yards long, one If yard iong; all the tweeds are of a light texture, and manufactured for Indian wear. On the 5th instant, a shop in Kidderminster, was broken and entered, and about £ 8 in Gold and Silver Monies stolen therein; also five pairs of hobnailed Boots, of various sizes, tipped on heels, and ' J. G.' stamped on each sole. Informa- tion to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Kidder- minster, Worcestershire. — Bow- street, Dtcember 8. Between 6 and 8 p. m. on the 5th instant, the dwelling- house of Mrs. Gatensbury, Horninglow- road, Burton- on- Trent, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : a seal- skin Purse, containing £ 1; four small Coins ; a gold Brooch, crescent pattern ; a lady's gold watch Chain, with a mourning Locket, chased, attached; a pair of gold sleeve Links; and a new waterproof Coat. During the night of the 8th instant the dwelling- house of Mr. William Dodgson, of Tushingham, Cheshire, was broken aud entered and stolen therein : a mahogany Tea Caddy, which has been converted into a missionary box with three compartments, labelled 1 Christianity amongst the Jews,' ' Church Missionary Society,' ' Sunday School Society Between 6 30 8' 30 p. m. on the 5th instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. William Bachlor, Saint Loyes- street, Bedford, was entered by means of skeleton keys, and stolen therein: twelve silver tea Spoons, marked ' B.' in old English; six electro- plated desert Spoons; two Apostle Spoons, gilded ; four gold Pins ; a gold Brooch ; and about £ 3 in Money. Supposed by a man about 5 feet 7 inches high ; dressed in a dark brown coat, dark trousers, and black HOME AID CJKXTLE STEALING. Stolen during the night of the 10th instant, from an officer's stable, at Aldershot Camp : a black Mare, 3 years old, 15 hands high, long coat, white star on forehead, cut on near fore fetlock joint, broken tooth in right of upper jaw, and a single headed Bridle and Bit, too small for title horse. — Metropolitan Police, Woolwich Division, December 15. Found about the 4th instant, and supposed stolen : a black Colt, rising 2 years old, and a bay Pony, aged, about 12 hands high, and lame on off fore leg. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Richardson, Wellington, or to Sergeant Christie, County Constabulary Office, Newport, Salop.— Bow- street, December 15. Supposed to have been stolen from a field at Walsall: a brown mare Pony, llj hands high, black mane, legs and tail, and a small piece cut off the tip of one ear. Information to be given to Chief Constable Cater, Walsall, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, December 13. Stolen during the night of the 4th instant, from a field at Haptsford : a fat wether Sheep, marked with ' L/ on the right side, the property of Mr. Charles Lee. £ 3 reward will be paid on conviction of the offender or offenders. Also stolen from a field at Tasley, during the night of the 12th ultimo : a, ewe Sheep, marked * T. N.' on the left side, the property of Thomas Nock. £ 2 reward will be given on conviction of the offender or offenders. Information to be given to to Superintendent Ivins, Bridg- north, Salop.— Bow- street, December 13. Found about a week ago, and supposed to have been stolen : a small dark brown mare Donkey, about 2 or 3 years old, in good condition, and no shoes on. Information to be given to Superintendent Raby, Great Witley, or to Sergeant Ganderton, Stourport, Worcestershire.— Bow- street, Dec. 13. Stolen from a farm in the parish of Chardstock, on the night of the 27th ultimo : a bay mare Pony, 3 years old, 11 hands high, black legs, slightly built, small head, very narrow across the bridge of nose, and nostrils very prominent. Information to be given to Superintendent MacHale, Bea- minster, Dorsetshire.— Bow- street, December 13. Found at Darlaston, on the 19th ult., supposed stolen : a bay filly Pony, 13 hands high, rising 2 years old, no shoes, in good condition, has black legs, long mane and tail, and a small white spot on off side. Information to be given to Sergeant Breton, Darlaston, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, De- cember 10. Found in a meadow at Uffington about a month ago and grey; dressed in an old dark cloth pilot jacket and fur cap. supposed to have been stolen : a two- year old light roan Heifer with a black muzzle. Information to be given to Superintendent Reece, Farringdon, Berks.— Bow- si., Dec. 8. Stolen from the Guild Farm, Sutton, on the 25th ultimo : a red Cow in milk, 3 years old, with little hair on tail. LARCENY AIB IMBEZZLEMESl Stolen from a dwelling- house at Wigan on the night of the 4th September last: a single plaid woollen Shawl, black, white, puce, and grey plaid, nearly new; a double- breasted dark tweed Coat, with long skirts, two pockets outside with flaps, and one inside left breast ; a single- breasted black cloth shooting Coat, two pockets outside and one inside left breast, lined with black alpaca; a double- breasted dark cloth Vest, torn at one side ; a pair of dark tweed Trousers, fall fronts, lined throughout with white calico ; a pair of men's elastic- side Boots; and a magenta and white silk Pocket- handkserchief. By FRANCIS TAFE, who lodged at the house two nights : he is about 30 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, dark curly hair cut short, no whiskers or moustache, long and pale face; dressed in black billycock hat, old black cloth shooting coat, grey tweed trousers, and low shoes ; frequents public- houses, dancing and singing for a living. Also stolen, on the afternoon of the 20th ultimo, from a dwelling- house in Wigan : a puce stuff Dress, old- fashioned, torn in the body ; a black silk Dress, new, with puffings on breast; a white flannel Petticoat; a white twill calico Skirt; two bleached calico Skirt; a black and red plaid woollen Shawl; a maroon woollen Jacket, with puce border ; and a pair of women's elastic- side Boots. By JANE MARROW, who lodged iu the house about a week, and left about 6" 30 p. m. on the 20th ultimo : she is 23 or 24 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, full face, fresh complexion, black hair, slightly pockpitted ; dressed in black bonnet, black cloth jacket, light winsey skirt, and elastic- side boots; she has with her a female child about 2 years of age, light com- plexion, light curly hair ; dressed in black velvet jacket, light cotton frock, straw hat with blue and white ribbon round, and red leather boots ; she states that she came from Manchester. Absconded from Hednesford, on the 11th instant, charged with stealing a Sovereign : JOHN CUNIFF, Irish labourer, 24 years of age, 5 feet 11 ins. high, proportionately built, fresh complexion, round features, rather long nose, light brown hair, and slight whiskers; dressed in a short blue pilot jacket, blue cloth trousers, dirty soft white billy- cock hat, much turned up at sides, and strong lace up boots. He is very erect, of smart appearance, and is now supposed to be making his way to Ireland. Information to be given to Superintendent Hill, Police Station, Brownhills, near Walsall, or to Police Constable Cockerell, Police Station, Hednesford, near Stafford, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bcrw- street, December 15. Absconded from Compton, Dorset, on the 7th instant, charged with larceny : GEORGE TRAVES, 28 years of age, 5 feet 9J inches high, fresh complexion, hazel eyes and brown hair. Ho was lately a constable in the Dorset Con- stabulary. Information to be given to Superintendent Smith, Yeovil, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, December 13. Stolen from a dwelling- house at the Butts, Walsall, at 5- 30 a. m. on the 7th instant: a black cloth Overcoat, with velvet collar; a dark cloth tweed Jacket, Trousers, and Vest; two pairs of dark cloth Trousers ; and a pair of lace- up boots, belonging to a boy about 14 yeais of age. By a fellow lodger, 20 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, dark hair and eyes, no whiskers or moustache ; dressed in old dark clothes, hard low- crowned hat, old lace- up boots, straps round the legs of his trousers ; he works at serving bricklayers, and has recently worked on the new railway at Rushall.. WHIFFEN ( advertised in the Police Gazette of the 10th ultimo, charged with larceny at Stanstead, Kent), has been apprehended and remauded. ALFRED LETCHFORD, alias CHALKEY, is still at large. Information to be given to Superintendent Hulse, Police Station, West Mailing, near Maidstone, Kent.— Bow- street, December 13. Stolen from the Engineer Barricks, Old Brompton, Kent, on the 11th instant : a silver lever hunting Watch, capped and jewelled, No. 2330 ; has attached a gold Albert Chain, Maltese make, a gold Locket with Maltese Cross on it, a silver Pencil- case with Penholder at one end, and a gold Split Ring. By a man about 19 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, pale complexion, and scar on upper lip ; dressed in cloth jacket, dirty fustian trousers, hard felt hat, and military shoes, stamped 1218 | R. E. | 9 | 75, which are stolen. He is likely to be found about barracks, pretending that he wants to enlist. Information to be given to Superintendent Coppinger, Chatham, Kent.— Bow- st., December 13. Absconded, charged with stealing a pit Saw, a sawyer, 45 years of age, 6 feet 3 inches high, light complexion, hair, and whiskers ( small) ; dressed in a blue pilot jacket, cord trousers, and dark cloth cap, all old and dirty. Supposed in the neighbourhood of Guildford or Godalming.— Metropolitan Police, V Division, December 10. Absconded from Bath, stealing a Skirt; a pair of Trou- sers ; a cloth Jacket; and a Concertina ( recovered): a woman, about 40 years of age, short and thin, long thin pale face, dark eyes, black hair, worn in a net; dressed in an old brown dress, shepherd's plaid shawl, black bonnet, trimmed • with white ribbon or white flower, and black lace in front ; she is a hawker, and travels Wilts, Bristol, and Somerset, with boy's caps and cabbage nets, and carries a square basket • with two covers. Information to be given to Superintendent Morgan, County Police Station, Upper Bristol- road, Batb. — Brno- street, December 10. Description of two men charged with stealing, on tho 16th ultimo, at Burbage Wharf, a quantity of Elm Boards, the property of Messrs. Bobbins, Lane, and Pinninger: JOHN GOUGH, alias FRANCIS ATKINS, bargeman, 29 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, dark brown hair, little dark whiskers, and rather large mouth ; dressed in a white slop and cap; and RICHARD HUMPHRIES, alias GEORGE WEST, bargeman, 40 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, dark brown hair, and beard ( meets under the chin) turning Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Stretton, Marlborough, Wilts, who holds warrants for their apprehen- sion.— Bow- street, December 10. Stolen between the 6th and 7th instant, from a house in Northallerton : iwworkman's Basket, containing one plas- terer's Trowel, one bricklayer's Trowel, one guaging Trowel, two lath Hammers, six Pointers, four Frenchmen, one Hand Float, one Mitering Brush, aud some Mitering Tools. Infor- mation to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Walmsley, North Riding Constabulary, Northallerton. — Bow- street, December 10. Description of ROBERT ROBINSON, alias JAMES WILLIAMSON, charged with stealing two Umbrellas, the property of Wm. Foster, of Barton, North Riding of " York- shire : about 49 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, fresh complexion, light brown hair and whiskers, proportionate figure ; dressed when last seen at Darlington, Durham, in drab suit, similar to quarrymen's ; he has been in the army, frequents fairs and cattle markets, is often employed as a drover, and is of drunken habits. Information to be given to Superintendent Gregory, Richmond, or to Inspector Howes, Scorton, Cattarick, North Riding of Yorkshire.— Bow- street, December 10. Stolen on the evening of the 3rd instant, from the ' Green Man' hotel, Ashbourne: a single- barrelled Gun, muzzle loader ; two pairs of white leather Hunting Breeches; a double- reined Bridle, with Bits attached ; two Gig Whips, one with black stock. By a man, who engaged a bed at the hotel for the night, he is 25 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, light complexion, and had the appearance of a groom; dressed in grey clothes, and wore a large ring. Two guineas reward will be paid by the Ellastone Association for the prosecution of felons, to any person who shall give such information as will lead to the conviction of the offender.
