MUEDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUI7DINO Absconded, charged with maliciously causing grievous bodily harm to James Haywood : GEORGE BRITTON, a skinner, about 38 years of age, 5 feet inches high, dark hair and whiskers. Information to be given to Superinten- dent Haigh, Kidderminster, Worcestershire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, November 19. ROBBERY AID LARCEIY FROM THE PERSON. Stolen from the person on the 13th instant, at Louth : a silver pair- case verge Watch, No. 2294 or 2297, with English figures, and a long pendant, has a steel Chain, With 3d. Piece, two watch Keys, and a Common brass Seal attached. Supposed by FRANCIS GLYNN, a bricklayer's labourer,, and a native of Louth : 24 years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, brown hair, pale complexion, has a tuft of hair on chin, walks very erect, and has served iu the Royal Marines and North Lincoln Militia; he was dressed in light moleskin trousers and vest, white smock, dark cap, and lace- up boots. Information to be given to Head Constable Roberts, Town Hall, Loutb, Lincolnshire, who holds a warrant for his appre- hension.— Bow- street, November 19. he is a house decorator, and a native of London. Information to be given to Superintendent Ellison, Constabulary Office, Chipping Sodbury, Gloucestershire.— Bow- street, November 26. Stolen by means of housebreaking, between 9 and 10 a. m. on* the 6th ultimo, at East Beckham,; Kent, the property of Thomas Atkins and Son : a dark corded sleeved Waistcoat ; three Dresses, one brown ; a grey Jacket, Vest, and Trousers ; a pair of men's Boots, specked and nailed ; and a pair of women's side- spring Boots. By GEORGE GULSTON, a person under police supervision, who was liberated from St. Albans Prison on the 10th April, 1874, and a woman, name unknown ; both were at East Peckham during the hop picking; Gulston is a painter, 28 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, and has scars on forehead, thumbs, and left leg ; he is a native of Watford, Herts, where he resided after his release from prison, but was subsequently transferred to Uxbridge. Information to be given to Superintendent Hulse, Kent Con- stablary, West Mailing, who holds the warrant for their apprehension.— Bow- street, November 24. Between 6.30 and 8 p. m. on the 21st instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. John Green, of Castle- street, Chesterton, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : a silver patent lever stop Watch, No. 886011, maker Joseph Moses, Bishop Auck- land, has a plaited leather Guard attached; a silver verge Watch, double- cased, No. 8349, maker William Been, London, white dial, gold hands ; a brass Chain and Key ; and a silver Ette, lined with gold, and the letters ' A. B.' on top of lid. Information to be given to Sergeant Stanton, Constabulary Office, Chesterton, near Newcastle- under- Lyme, Staffordshire. — Bow- street, November 24. Stolen by means of housebreaking : a dark cloth Over- coat, with black velvet csllar, pockets outside with flaps, and one inside breast pocket; a suit of black Cloth, nearly new ; a suit of plaid Cloth, new ; two pairs of woollen Stockings ; a blue Scarf; a new woollen Shirt; and a green clasped Purse, containing six Sovereigns, the property of John Shone, Red Wither, Issacoed. Also stolen from the house of Margaret Rogers, of the same place, on the same day : a silver half- pint Measure. ' Overton Agricultural Society'; a silver cream Jug; two silver table Spoons ; six large silver tea Spoons, marked • J. M. R.'; six smaller ditto, marked ' J. R.'; a silver salt Spoon; a silver mustard Spoon, marked ' J. B.'; a pair of silver sugar Tongs, marked ' J. B.' ; and 9s. in Silver. They have since been recovered, and WILLIAM ROWLAND, alias WREXHAM BILL, has been apprehended for stealing the same, and is remanded until the 26th instant. Information to be given to Superintendent Hill, Brownhills, near Walsall, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, November 24. Supposed stolen from a field near Haughton Railway Station, during the night of the 14th instant; the property of the Rev C. S. Royds : nine Ewes, grey faced, not marked ; three ewe Lambs, grey faced, marked on side ' ( R") one Ram, aged, grey faced, marked on side ' ( R);' all in good con- dition. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Oswell, Forebridge, Stafford, or to Sergeant Wheaver, Police Station, Church Eaton, Stafford.— Bow- street, November 22. Stolen from Ash on the 9th instant: a bay horse Pony, 10 years old, 11 hands high, long thick coat, white star on forehead, and white nose. £ 5 reward will be paid on the recovery of the Pony and conviction of the offender or offenders. Supposed to have been stolen on the 4th instant, from a field at Neachill, Wednesfield : a black Colt, aged 9 months, about 0 or 9 hands high, a small bit off the right ear, and is in good condition ; the property of Mr. George Hyde. Stolen from a field at Preston, Gloucestershire, on the 15th instant: a bay Mare, rising 4 years old, 14 hands high, four black points, tail cut, burn mark on near side behind the shoulder ; the property of Mr. Thomas Howard, Little Marcle. During the night of the 22nd instant, the booking office at the Midland Railway Station, Yate, Gloucestershire, was broken into, and stolen therein : a £ b Note, Bank of England ( Stuckey's, Bristol); £ 3 in gold, and £ Z Is. 7d. in silver and copper Monies; a parcel containing two eider down Quilts, one of a red colour, the other darker; a servant's Livery, consisting of a frock Coat, claret- coloured cloth, red binding, a pair of drab cloth Breeches and Gaiters, and a pair of cotton Drawers ; a Ilare ; and a Pheasant; the property of the Midland Baihvay Company. Supposed by a man about 34 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, rather stout make, AK'B CATTLE Stolen from a field at the Beeches, West Bromwich, between the 24th and 26th instai-. t: a dark brown half- bred Filly, 2 years old, black mane and tail, hind legs white to j above fetlocks, one fore leg white, white stripe down the face, | brown nose, has been broken to harness and saddle, and shod round. Information to be given to Superintendent Wooll- aston, Police Office, West Bromwich, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, November 29. Stolen from Ash Priors Common, on the 13tli instant: a red Devon Heifer, coming 2 years old, marked on the left ear by a tmall piece being cut out on under part, near the point. £ 5 reward will be paid on the recovery of the heifer, | and conviction of the offender or offenders, by Mr. Thomas Westcott, Middleton Farm, Bishops Lydeard. It is supposed , that the heifer was driven away by a drover, about 40 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high ; dressed in dark clothes ;, he passed over the Common on the above date, in charge of a I drove of cattle, and supposed to have come from the lower part of Somerset or Devon. Information to be given to Superintendent Hear, Willitoia, or to Sergeant Andow Bishops Lydeard, Somerset Constabulary.— Bow- st., Nov. 29.' Supposed to have been stolen from a field at Neachill Wednesfield, during the night of the 19tli instant, a dark' chestnut Mare, 13^ hands high, aged, blind of near eye, aud in fair condition ; the property of Mr. Richard Bate, Moseley Village. Information to be given to Sergeant Goodall, Constabulary Office, New Cross, Wednesfield, Staffordshire. Bow- street, November 26. Stolen on the 20th instant, from New Pye street, West- minster : a light chestnut horse Pony, 14 hands high, rising 3 years, clean cut, white blaze down face, off hind foot white, long tail and niane, turning silvery, unshod, and not broken for harness.— Metropolitan Police, B Division, November 26. Found straying on the 19th instant, at Passenham, Northamptonshire, and supposed to have been stolen : a chesnut cart Mare, aged, about 16 hands high, white face and legs, is in very low condition, and suffering from a large sore behind near shoulder. Information to be given to Superin- tendent Norman, Police Office, Towcester, Northamptonshire. — Bow- street, November 26. dark sandy whiskers; respectably dressed in dark clothes; Zouch, Leicestershire, — Bow- street, November 24. LAECEIY &. 3£ D EMBEZZLEMENT. Absconded from Walsall, charged with stealing J18, the engraved ! monies of the Great Western Railway Company, his masters ; ' THOMAS FARMER, 35 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, fair complexion, and slightly pockpilted ; is well acquainted with railway waggon work. Information to be given to Chief Constable Cater, Walsall, Staffordshire, who holds a warrant for his arrest.— Bow- street, November 29. SAMUEL TAYLOR, described in the Police Gazette of the 22nd instaut, charged vvith stealing a Watch at Cannock, has been arrested, identified, and remanded. He gave the name of SAMUEL MITCHELL, and says he belongs to Liverpool ; has recently served 18 weeks imprisonment in Stafford Gaol, for felony, in the name of JOHN MELLARD. He is supposed to have committed offences elsewhere, and to have been previously convicted of felony. Tba- Watch which he stole from Cannock has not yet been recoyered,. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Hill, Brownhills, near Walsall, Staffordshire,— Sow- street, November 29. Stolen from Chester Barracks on the night of the 24th instant, the property of one of the officers of the 3, Uth Regt. : oue blue livery Overcoat, with plain buttons ; one ditto ditto Undercoat; one yellow striped Vest; one pair drab Breeches ; one pair drab Gaiters ; two Vests with sleeves ; one dark tweed Coat; and oue pair cord Trousers.' By private JOHN FOX, who acted as servant, and was seen wearing some of the stolen Clothes on the above date; 28 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, dark complexion, black hair, and grey eyes. He is a stonemason and a native of Llangollen. Infor- mation to be given to the Chief Superintendent, Oldmeadow, or to Inspector Williamson, County Police, Chester, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, Nov. 29. Description of WILLIAM DOYLE, alias PAT DOYLE' alias THE BEAR, and RUSSIAN BEAR, charged on a warrant with larceny, at Bipon : he is a tramping tailor, about 55 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches high, coloured whiskers, turning grey, shaved under the chin, he walks very erect, was formerly ia the army, and also in the Royal Irish Constabulary ; he is very much addicted to drink, and stops at common lodging- houses. Information to be given to Head Constable Metcalfe. City Police Office, Ripon, Yorkshire.— — Bovi street, November 29. Dascription of two men,'' charged on a warrant with stealing 771bs. of Lead, at Frant, Sussex, on the 24th instant, since recovered : GEORGE SMITH, alias GILES, about 23 or 24 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, fair complexion, light hair, cut short, proportionate figure, late of Tunbridge Wells, and is a costermcuger: dressed in Monker jacket, blue Guernsey under, dark tight- fittiug cord trousers, billycock hat, and lace- up boots with brass eyelet holes. And a man named SMITH, about 21 or 22 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, fair complexion, light hair, cut short, proportionate figure, late of Tunbridge Wells, and is a coater- mratger; dressed in monkey jacket with blue Guernsey underneath, dark tight- fitting cord trousers, billycock hat, and lace- up boots with brass eyelets. These men are supposed to be accompanied by two women, Stolen during the night of the 18th instant, from a field of medium height, about 25 years of age, and one has a child near Ashby : a dark brown Colt, nearly 2 years old, about 14 hands high, long tail, rough coat, has three white legs, a small white spot on the nose, no shoes, and in good condition; the property of Francis Walker. Information to be given to Superintendent Ward, Constabulary Station, Ashby- de- la- about four months old. They are well known iu Brighton, Croydon, Chatham, and iu the neighbourhood of London. Information to be given to Superintendent Peerless, Uckfield, or to Sergeant Avery, Court House, Mark Cross, Sussex.— — Sots- street, November 29. 2 POLICE GAZETT E. November 29 Description of SPENCER VEYSEY, a pupil dentist, charged with embezzling various sums of money, belonging to Mr. Styer, at Speen, in July and August last : 27 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, rather pale complexion, round face, has a small cast in left eye, brown hair, slight figure, and has lost a front tooth and wears an artificial one ; usually dressed in a light or plaid suit, and wears a large imitation diamond pin. His friends reside at Mount Radford, Exeter, and he is fond of billiards. £ 5 reward will be paid for such information as will lead to his apprehension, on application to Superintendent Bennett, Police Office, Newbury, Berks, who holds a warrant for his apprehension and will forward a photograph on application.— Bow- street, November 29. Description of EDWARD GEORGE HILLIER, a mill- worker, a native of London, who has absconded with £ 30 of his employers money : he is 23 years of age, 5 feet 2 or 3 ins. high, light brown hair, no whiskers, slight moustache, florid complexion, and has a bad leg; dressed in a suit of dark tweed, brown topcoat, and black felt hat, Information to be given to Superintendent McKay, Burgh- buildings, Galashiels, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bm- street, No- vember 29. Stolen from a bedroom at an hotel at Brighton, about midday on the 23rd instant : a gentleman's gold Geneva Watch, gold face, plain back, very good case, nearly new. Supposed by a man about 36 years of age, but looks older, dark whiskers, with about a week's growth of beard, and high cheekbones, shabbily dressed ; in brown clothes, dark overcoat, soft slouched felt hat, and carried a_ large brown portmanteau. Information to be given to Chief Constable White, Brighton, Sussex.— Bow- street, November 26. Absconded on the 20th instant, from South- place, Finsbury, stealing £ 728 16?., the monies of his employer : a man, 45 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark complexion, hair, whiskers, and moustache, slightly turning grey, very slightly pockmarked ; dressed in dark grey overcoat, blue undercoat, mixture trousers, and black hat .— Metropolitan Police, G Division, November 26. Absconded on the 9th instant, from Loughborough Parade, Brixton, charged with embezzling £ 30: a man, 36 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, dark complexion, hair, and whiskers ; dressed m light tweed suit and black billycock hat.— Metropolitan Police, W Division, November 26. Stolen from the new railway at Daw End, near Walsall, during the night of the 19th inst. : fcur Shovels ( recovered). By an Irish navvy, from 30 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, dark hair, thin face, no whiskers or moustache, sore eyes, and a dark blue mark across his nose ; dressed in old pilot jacket, moleskin trousers, billycock hat, ar. d strong lace- up boots ; he has a dirty appearance. Information to be given to Sergeant Arnold, Rushall, jiear WalsalJ, Stafford- shire.— Bow- street, November 26. Description of THOMAS MATTHEWS, of Shipley, near Bridgnorth, charged with larceny as a bailee : 24 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, dark complexion, black curly hair, slight moustache ; dressed in dark clothes and strong lace- up boots, and looks like a jockey ; he is well known among cattle dealers and drovers in Staffordshire and Shrop- shire. Information to be given to Sergeant Rushton, Trysull, near Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, November 23. Absconded on the 15th instant, from II5A, Aldersgate- street, charged with stealing the sum of .£ 94, the monies of his employer : a youth, 19 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, high shoulders, short body, thin, pale face, long nose, and dark hair ; dressed in dark clothes. He is a clerk, and of gentlemanly appearance— Metropolitan Police, G Division, November 24. Absconded on the 19th instant, from 38, Whitechapel- road, stealing a lady's gold Geneva Watch, open- face, No. 34138; two gold Neck Chains ; two gold Rings, set with diamonds ; and a pair of lady's side- spring Boots : a woman, 20 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, fair hair and complexion; dress, grey mixture.— Metropolitan Police, H Division, November 24. Description of ROBERT MORRISON, a labourer or miner, charged with larceny at Coxhoe, on the 20th instant; 34 years of age, 5 feet 4f inches high, fair complexion, dark brown hair, turning grey, scars on caif of right leg and near right eye, and has lost nearly all his teeth. He was liberated from Portland Convict Prison on the 20th February last, after serving 7 years penal servitude for larceny ; he had pre- viously been convicted at Bishop Auckland, and other places iu the county of Durham. Information to be given to Super- intendent Dunn, County Constabulary, Durham.— Bow- street, Noveinber 24. Stolen on the 12th instant, £ 4 in French Money. By H. WATSON ( supposed to be false), late of 69, Pentonville- road, London, from 30 to 35 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, fair complexion, light hair and whiskers, prominent nose, has lost au upper front tooth, and thin build ; dressed in a dark overcoat and black silk hat. He is accompanied by a woman, 24 years of age, tall, very thin, high forehead, and light hair parted at the side ; dressed in a brown dress, with! Jarceny: a man named MITCHELL JOHNSON, about 26 years of age, 5 feet 10| inches high, fresh complexion, fair hair, small light whiskers, left knee- cap broken, and wdks a little lame; dressed in a light grey overcoat, grey trousers, and felt billycock hat; J^ is a tramping barber, and is sup- posed to have gone to S^ Held. Information to be given to Inspector Frankton, Constabulary Station, Warwick, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, Nov. 22. Absconded from Wigtown, charged with stealing on the 12th instant, a quantity of Wearing Apparel ( recovered) : ROBERT BRUCE or HAMILTON, a navvy and native of Wigtownshire, about 30 years of age, about 6 feet high, dark hair, no whiskers, and rather red beard; dressed in rough cap, with peak, dark tweed jacket, much faded, vest of sime material, white muffler, with black spots, old dirty moleskin trousers, and old lace boots, much worn. It is supposed that he has gone to Carlisle or Ayr ; he generally works on railways or other public works. Information to be given to Chief Constable Murphy, Wigtown, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- stieet, Nov. 22'. a labourer, 48 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fresh com- plexion, light browu hair, bald on top of head, no whiskers ; ^ dressed in a dark tweed coat, black cloth waistcoat, dark tweed trousers, blue striped shirt, worsted stockings, and lace- rrp boots ; he was last seen near the river Severn, between Ironbiidge and Coalport; it is feared that some ill has be- fallen him. A reward of £ 1 will be paid by his friends for such information as will lead to his discovery. Absconded on the 25th instant, charged on a warrant with obtaining £ 2 by means of a fictitious cheque on Round, Green, and Co.' s Bank, Colchester, on the 20th inst., JAMES BENNETT, alias BARWELL, alias BENNELL : about 35 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, brown hair, dark brown bushy whiskers, beard, and moustache ; supposed to be dressed in a short dark reefing jacket, soft billyccck or hard felt hat ; he frequents billiard- rooms, and will probably take private apartments. Information to be given to Superinten- dent Sanders, Police Station, Dover, Kent.— Bow- street, No- vember 29. Description of a man and woman charged with obtaining by false pretences, a brown silk Umbrella, nearly new, from Elizabeth Griffiths, of Maesmawr- cottage, Montgomeryshire, on the 2nd instant : the man is about 60 years of age, with grey and long grey whiskers ; dressed in a blue pilot cloth topcoat, black silk hat with black cloth band, and heavy boots ; the woman is about the same age, and wears a long waterproof cloak with hood and fall ; they carried a black leather bag and umbrella.
