MURB£ S AMD MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING- Absconded, charged with maliciously causing grievous bodily harm to James Haywood : GEORGE BRITTON, a skinner, about 38 years of age, 5 feet 7J inches high, dark hair and whiskers. Information to he given to Superinten- dent Haigh, Kidderminster, Worcestershire, who holds a warjant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, November 19. Supposed to have been stolen on the 4th instant, from a> field at Neachill, Wednesfield : a black Colt, aged 9 months, about 8 or 9 hands high, a small bit off the right ear, and is- in good condition ; the property of Mr. George Hyde. Infor- mation to be given to Sergeant Goodall, Police Station, New Cross, Wednesfield, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, November 22. Stolen from a field at Preston, Gloucestershire, on tha- 15th instant : a bay Mare, rising 4 years old, 14 hands high, four black points, tail cut, burn mark on near side behind the shoulder ; the property of Mr. Thomas Howard, Little Marcle. Information to be given to Superintendent Blunsdon, Ledbury, or to Police Constable Baruett, Police Station, Dymock, Gloucestershire.— Bow- slreet, November 22. Found, supposed to have been stolen, about tho 12th of August last, a dark brown half- bred Mare, 5 years old, 16 hands higb, black legs, switch tail, and very good action. Information to be given to Superintendent Humphries, Police Station, King's Heath, near Birmingham, Warwick- shire.— Bow- street, November 19. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PEBSOH. Stolen from the person on the 13th instant, at Louth : a silver pair- case verge Watch, No. 2294 or 2- 297, with English figures, and a long pendant, has a steel Chain, with 3d. Piece, two watch Keys, and a Common brass Seal attached. Supposed by FRANCIS GLYNN, a bricklayer's labourer,, and a native of Louth : 24 years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, brown hair, pale complexion, has a tuft of hair on chin, walks very erect, and has served in the Boyal Marines and North Lincoln Militia; he was dressed in light moleskin trousers and vest, white smock, dark cap, and lace- up boots. Information to he given to Head Constable Roberta, Town Hall, Loutb, Lincolnshire, who holds a warrant for his appre- hension.— Bow- street, November 19. St. Albans Prison on the 10th April, 1874, and a woman, name unknown ; both were at East Peckbam during the hop picking ; Gulston is a painter, 28 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, and has scars on forehead, thumbs, and left leg ; he is a native of Watford, Herts, where he resided after his release from prison, hut was subsequently transferred to Uxbridge. Inforn ation to be given to Superintendmt Hulse, Kent Cou- stablary, West Mailing, who holds the warrant for their apprehension.— Bo\ c- street, November 24. Between 6.30 and 8 p. m. on the 21st instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. John GreeD, of Castle- street, Chesterton, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : a silver patent lever stop Watch, No. 886011, maker Joseph Moses, Bishop Auck- land, has a plaited leather Guard attached ; a silver verge Watch, double- cased, No. 8349, maker William Been, London, white dial, gold hands ; a brass Chain and Key ; and a silver Ette, lined with gold, and the letters ' A. B.' on top of lid. Information to be given to Sergeant Stanton, Constabulary Office, Chesterton, near Newcastle- under- Lyme, Staffordshire. — Bow- street, November 24. Stolen by means of housebreaking : a dark cloth Over- coat, with black velvet cellar, pockets outside with flaps, and one inside breast pocket; a suit of black Cloth, nearly new ; a suit of plaid Cloth, new ; two pairs of woollen Stockings ; a blue Scarf; a new woollen Shirt; and a green clasped Purse, containing six Sovereigns, the property of John Shone, Red Wither, Issacoed. Also stolen from the house of Margaret Rogers, of the same place, on the same day : a silver half- pint Measure, engraved ' Overton Agricultural Society'; a silver cream Jug ; two silver table Spoons; six large silver tea Spoons, marked ' J. M. R.'; six smaller ditto, marked ' J. K.'; a silver salt Spoon; a silver mustard Spoon, marked ' J. B.'; a pair of silver sugar Tongs, marked ' J. B.' ; and 9s. in Silver. Supposed by a man" about 36 years of age, but looks older, dark whiskers, with about a week's growth of beard, and high cheekbones, shabbily dressed ; in brown clothes, dark overcoat, soft slouched- felt hat, and carried a large brown portmanteau. During the night of the 22nd instant, the booking office at the Midland Railway Station, Yate, Gloucestershire, was broken into, and stolen therein : a £ 5 Note, Bank of England ( Stuckey's, Bristol) ; £ 3 in gold, and £ 3 Is. 7d. in silver and copper Monies; a parcel containing two eider down Quilts, one of a red colour, the other darker; a servant's Livery, consisting of a frock Coat, claret- coloured cloth, red binding, a pair of drab cloth Breeches and Gaiters, and a pair of cotton Drawers ; a Hare ; and a Pheasant; the property of the Midland Railway Company. Supposed by a man about 34 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, rather stout make, dark sandy whiskers ; respectably dressed in dark clothes ; he is a house decorator, and a native of London. Stolen on the 20th instant, from New Pye- street, West- minster : a light chestnut horse Pony, 14 hands high, rising 3 years, clean cut, white blaze down face, off hind foot white, long tail and mane, turning silvery, unshod, and not broken for harness.— Metropolitan Police, B Division, November 26. Found straying on the 19th instant, at Passenham, Northamptonshire, and supposed to have been stolen : a chesnut cart Mare, aged, about 16 hands high, white face and legs, is in very low condition, and suffering from a large sore behind near shoulder. Stolen during the night of the 18th instant, from a field near Ashby : a dark brown Colt, nearly 2 years old, about 14 hands higb, long tail, rough coat, has three white legs, a small white spot on the nose, no shoes, and in good condition; the property of Francis Walker. Stolen from a field at Wyrley, during the. night of the 8th instant : a bay Mare, aged, hands high, very long body, and in low condition, the property of Mr. James Walker, Wyrley. Supposed stolen from a field near Haughton Railway Station, duriDg the night of the 14th instant; the property of the Rev C. S. Royds : nine Ewes, grey faced, not marked ; three ewe Lambs, grey faced, marked on side '( R);' one Ram, aged, grey faced, marked on side ' ( R);' all in good con- dition. Stolen from Ash on the 9th instant : a hay horse Pony, 10 years old, 11 hands high, long thick coat, white star on forehead, and white nose. £ 5 reward will be paid on the recovery of the Pony and conviction of the offender oi offenders. Description of EDWARD GEORGE HILLIER, a mill worker, a native of London, who has absconded with £ 30 of his employers money : he is 23 years of age, 5 feet 2 or 3 ins. high, light brown hair, no whiskers, slight moustache, florid complexion, and has a bad leg ; diessed in a shabby suit of dark brown tweed, dark cloth cap, with cloth peak, dirty white cotton muffler, with red stripe, and Lome shoes. In- formation to be given to Superintendent McKay, Burgh- buildings, Galashiels, who holds a warrant for his apprehen- sion.— Bow- street, November 24. Absconded on the 15th instant, from 115A, Aldersgate- street, charged with stealing the sum of £ 94, tbe monies of his employer : a youth, 19 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, high shoulders, short body, thin, pale face, long nose, and dark hair ; dressed in dark clothes. He is a clerk, and of gentlemanly appearance— Metropolitan Police, G Division, November 24. Absconded on the 19 th instant, from 38, Whitechapel- road, stealing a lady's gold Geneva Watch, open- face, No. 34138 ; two gold Neck Chains ; two gold Rings, set with diamonds ; and a pair of lady'a side- spring Boots : a womau, 20 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, fair hair and complexion; dres?, grey mixture.— Metropolitan Police, H Division, November 24. Description of ROBERT MORRISON, a labourer or miner, charged with larceny at Coxhoe, on the 20th instant; 34 years of age, 5 feet 4| inches high, fair complexion, dark brown hair, turning grey, scars on calf of right leg and near right eye, aud has tost nearly all his teeth. He was liberated from Portland Convict Prison on the 20th February last, after serving 7 years penal servitude for larceny ; he had pre- viously been convicted at Bishop Auckland, and other places in the county of Durham. Informatiou to he given to Super- intendent Dunn, County Constabulary, Durham.— Bow- street, November 24. Stolen on the 12th instant, £ 4 in French Money. By H. WATSON ( supposed to be false), late of 09, Pentonville 2 POLICE GAZETTE. November 2G road, London, from 30 to 35 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, fair complexion, light " hair and whiskers, prominent nose, has lost an upper front tooth, and thin build ; dressed in a dark overcoat and black silk hat. He is accompanied by a woman, 24 years of age, tall, very thin, high forehead, and light hair parted at the side ; dressed in a brown dress, and blue turnover with Dutch tassels. Information to be given to Superintendent Williamson, Detective Office, Great Scotland- yard, London, S. W.— Vow- street, November 24. Absconded from Treorky. Rhondda Yalley, on the 10th instant, charged with stealing Half a Sovereign, the property of William John, his employer : HARRY WILLIAMS, alias HENRY WILLIAMS, a tramping tailor, 47 years of age, about 5 feet high, dark complexion, hair, whiskers and moustache, turning greyj& srk eyes, and bald on top of the head ; dressed' in an old black frock coat, old dark cloth trousers and vest, new elastic- side boots, and old black bowler hat. He is a native of Stroud, has lived at Chel- tenham, is much addicted to drink, and takes snuff. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Matthews, Police Office, Pontypridd, Glamorganshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- slreet, November 22. Stolen from a dwelling- house at Cannock, near Stafford, oil the 18th instant : a silver lever Watch, No. 9143, maker J. H. Jacksoa, Tunstall, cream- coloured dial, and seconds. By a lodger, who gave the name of SAMUEL TAYLOR, 25 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, dark eyes and com- plexion, long thin face, blight dark moustache, no whiskers, dark hair, slender build, and is a little cross- eyed; dressed in a dark cloth suit, elastic- side boots, and hard black felt hat; he is a shoemaker, and stated that he served his apprentice- ship in Manchester. Information to be given to Superinten- dent Hill, Brownhills, near Walsall, or to Sergeant Evans, Cannock, near Stafford, who holds a warrant for his appre- hension.— Bow- street, November 22. Absconded from Warwick, on the 14th instant, charged with larceny : a man named MITCHELL JOHNSON, about 20 years of age, 5 feet 10J inches high, fresh complexion, fair hair, small light whiskers, left knee- cap broken, and wdks a little lame; dressed in a light grey overcoat, grey trousers, and felt billycock hat; he is a tramping barber, and is sup- posed to have gone to Sheffield. Information to be given to Inspector Erankton, Constabulary Station, Warwick, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- rtreet, Nov. 22. Absconded from Wigtown, charged with stealing on the 12th instant, a quantity of Wearing Apparel ( recovered) : ROBERT BRUCE or HAMILTON, a navvy and native of Wigtownshire, about 30 year3 of age, about 6 feet high, dark hair, no whiskers, and rather red beard; dressed in rough cap, with peak, dark tweed jacket, much faded, vest of same material, white muffler, with black spots, old dirty moleskin trousers, and old lace boots, much worn. It is supposed that he has gone to Carlisle or Ayr ; he generally works on railways or other public works. Information to be given to Chief Constable Murphy, Wigtown, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow sheet, Nov. 22. Stolen from a dwelling- house at Oldham, on the 10th instant: a black cloth Jacket, pockets at each side, and torn on right elbow; a double- breasted black cloth Vest, two rows of buttons on breast; a pair of black cloth Trousers, fly fronts, calico lining ; a flannel Shirt; a large Muffler, red border, imitation fox head at each corner ; a pair of grey Stockings; and a blue Batin Necktie. By WILLIAM LEEK, a compositor, about 26 years of age, about 5 feet 3 iiiche3 high, dark complexion and moustache, and light surly hair ; dressed- in dark tweed suit, grey flannel shirt, black billycock hat, and low shoes. He is well known at York, Leeds, and Bradford. Information to be given to Chief Constable Hodgkinson, Town Hall, Oldham, Lanca- shire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension,— Bow- street, November 19. « Description of ADAM PHILLIPS, who is charged at Whitehaven, Cumberland, with stealing, on the 4th ultimo, a Sewing Machine ( recovered) : about 20 years of age, fair complexion, slight fair moustache, brown hair, and propor- tionate make ; dressed in a light grey suit of clothes, cap with peak, and large muffler; he is a baker, and a native of Glasgow. Information to be given to Superintendent Ber- tram, Constabulary Office, Whitehaven, or at the County Chief Constable's Office, Carlisle,. Cumberland.— Bow- street, November 19. Description of WILLIAM DAVIES, alias JARRETT, alias BARRETT, who escaped from the Police at Swansea, Great Western Railway Station, while being conveyed to Swansea Prison, under a sentence of one month's hard labour, for larceny on the 6th instant: 15 tolO years of age, 5 ft. 1 j inch high, sallow complexion, dark brown hair, hazel eyes, and scar on right cheek; he is a native of Mountain Ash : dressed in an old duck jacket, old moleskin trousers, and black cloth cap, all dirty from sleeping in them in works ; he is a collier and smith striker. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Thomas, Merthyr Tydfil, Glamor- ganshire.— Bow- street, November 19. dark complextion, scar on upper lip, face nearly covered with scars, and light hand has been injured ; dressed in a brown spotted stuff skirt, black body, light small plaid woollen shawl, black crape bonnet, light cotton apron, and shoes, all old and much worn ; states Bhe is well known at ling Sodbury : Mr. Brown's Vaughan's lodging- house, Barnard's, on the Mount, FEAFBS AID AGGRAVATED MISDEMEANOUR. Absconded since the 26th ultimo, charged with obtaining the sum of £ 2 10s. by means of false pretences : WILLIAM HENRY SHORT, late of 113, Shad Thames, Bermondsey, 44 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, fair complexion, brown hair turning grey, large features, affected manner of speaking, and stoops a little when walking ; dressed in dark tweed suit and billycock hat. Warrant issued.— Metropolitan Police, M Division, November 26. Obtained by fraud, on the 15th ultimo, from Vargue's Hotel, Leicester- place : the sum of £ 100. By EDWARD CLAYCHURCH, an American, 20 years of age, 5 feec 10 inches high, fair complexion, black curly hair ; dressed in blue overcoat, dark blue serge trousers and vest, and high hat. In one pocket were five pawntickets for articles pledged iu the names of Peter Brown, J. Brown, and John Taylor, with pawnbrokers in Manchester, Salford, Barnsley, Pontefract and Wakefield; and a red cotton pocket handkerchief with white spots.
