B AND MALICIOUSLY WOTJWDIIJ6 Absconded, charged with maliciously causing grievous bodily harm to James Haywood: GEORGE BRITTON, a skinner, about 38 years of age, 5 feet inches higb, dark hair and whiskers. Information to be given to Superinten- dent Haigh, Kidderminster, Worcestershire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— how- street, November 19. Charged ( on a warrant) with maliciously wounding George Johnson, at Howden, East Yorkshire : ELLIS MORRITT, about 35 years of age ( looks younger), 5 feet 7 inches high, proportionate make, light hair, straight and cut short, blue or grey eyes, li^ ht and thin whiskers and moustace, a little hair on chin, high cheekbones, and his left hand and wrist were lately badly cut with glass ; dressed either in a short smock and fustian or cord trousers, or a rather long rough dark overcoat with pockets in flaps, or in a drab cloth shooting coat, vest aud trousers to match, generally wears a cloth cap, heavy boots, aud woollen scarf ; be carries his hands in his side pockets or behind his back under his coat; he is a labourer with thrashing machines. Stolen from the person on the 13th instant, at Louth : a silver pair- case verge Watch, No. 2294 or 2' 297, with Euglish figures, and a long pendant, has a steel Chain, with 3d. Piece, two watch Keys, and a Common brass Seal attached. Supposed by FRANCIS GLYNN, a bricklayer's labourer and a native of Louth : 24 years of age. 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, brown hair, pale complexion, has a tuft of hair on chin, walks very erect, and has served in the Boyal Marines and North Lincoln Militia; he was dressed in light moleskin trousers and vest, white smock, dark cap, and lace- up boots. Information to be given to Head Constable Roberts, Town Hall, Loutb, Lincolnshire, who holds a warrant for his appre- hension.— Bow- street, November 19. Stolen from the person of William Merrill, in West- street, Crewe, on tbe 13th instant: a silver lever Watch, No. 1963, maker Cadick, Liverpool, with a steel Chain, three Keys, a small white sea Shell, and two yellow Hoops. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Saxton, Nautwicb, or to Inspector Morris, Police Station, Crewe, Cheshire.— Bow- street, November 17, Watch, double- cased. No. 8349, maker William Been, London, white dial, gold hands ; a brass Chain aud Key ; and a silver Ette, lined with gold, and the letters ' A. B.' on top of lid. Information to be given to Sergeant Stanton, Constabulary Office, Chesterton, near Newcastle- under- Lyme, Staffordshire. — Bouj- street, November 24. Stolen by means of housebreaking : a dark cloth Over- coat, with black velvet cellar, pockets outside with flaps, and " one inside breast, pocket ; a suit of blaek Cloth, nearly new ; a suit of plaid Cloth, new ; two pairs of woollen Stockings ; a blue Scarf ; a new woollen Shirt; and a green clasped Purse, containing six Sovereigns, the property of John Shone, Bed Wither, Issacoed. Also stolen from the house of Margaret Rogers, of the same place, on the same day : a silver half pint Measure, engraved ' Overton Agricultural Society'; a silver cream Jug; two silver table Spoons; six large silver tea Spoons, marked ' J. M. R.'; six smaller ditto, marked ' J. R.'; a silver salt Spoon; a silver mustard Spoon, marked ' J. B.'; a pair of silver sugar Tongs, marked ' J. B' ; and 9s. in Silver. They have since been recovered, and WILLIAM ROWLAND, alias WREXHAM BILL, has been apprehended for stealing the same, and is remanded until the 26t, h instant. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Bradshaw, Wrexham, Denbighshire.— Bow- street, Nov. 22 Stolen by means of house breaking on the morning of the 16th instant, from the dwelling- house of Miss Ditton, Northgate- street, Canterbury : five plain silver Tea Spoons ; a pair of silver Sugar Tongs; two old- fashioned silver Spoons, marked ' H. | T. S ;' two small silver Tea Spoon Bowls ; two German silver Table Spoons ; 16s. in Silver ; 3s. wortti of Id. Postage Stamps; several small Pocket Knives ; and several pairs of Scissors. Information to be given to Chief Constable Davies, Police Office, Canterbury, Kent.— Bow- street, November 19. During the night of the 13th instant, the ' Tandem' public- house at Kennington, near Oxford, was broken aud entered, and stolen therein : a Sovereign, a half ditto, about £ 3 3s. in Silver, 4s. in half- pence, a bottle of Brandy, eighteen Cigars, and ^ a pound of Tobacco, done up in pennyworths; the property of Mary Thorpe, the landlady. Information to be given to Superintendent, Hedger, Berks Constabulary, Abingdon.— Bow- street, November 17. Between 6.30 and 8.30 p. m., oa the 14th instant, a dwelling- house at New Brompton, Gillingham, Kent, was entered by means of skeleton keys and stolen therein : a smali siugle link gold Albert Chain, much worn and broken in mCj^ ces, and about .£ 20 in Gold and Silver. Informa- tion to be given to Superintendent Coppinger, Kent Constabulary, Chatham.— Bow- street, November 17. During the night of the 12th instant, a shop was broken into at Llangamarch, Breconshire, and stolen therein : 20^ yards of narrow grey plaid Cloth ; 5 yards of broad heavy fancy plaid Cloth ; 15 yards of brown| Yelveteen ; 3 pairs nf elastic Braces, with the shop mark upon them ; 1 large red aud white scarf ; 1 small black aud white ditto ; and 2 lbs. of Franklin's Tobacco. Supposed by two tramps : one rather stout aud had long sandy whiskers ; dressed in black soft hat, and dark coat. The other was dressed in dark clothes. In- formation to be given to Superintendent Price, Brecon, or to Police Sergeant Flye, Police Station, Builtb, Breconshire.— Bow- street, November 17. Stolen from a field at Preston, Gloucestershire, on the 15th instant : a bay Mare, rising 4 years old, 14 hands high, four black points, tail cut, burn mark on near side behind the shoulder ; the property of Mr. Thomas Howard, Little Marcle. Information to be given to Superintendent Blunsdon, Ledbury, or to Police Constable Barnett, Poliae Station, Dymock, Gloucestershire.— Bow- street, November 22. Found, supposed to have been stolen, about the 12th of August last, a dark brown half- bred Mare, 5 years old, 16 hands high, black legs, switch tail, and very good action. Information to be given to Superintendent Humphries, Police Station, King's Heath, near Birmingham, Warwick- shire.—- Bow- street, November 19. Stolen from a field at Morton, on the 10th instant, the property of Mrs. Sharp : a light bay carriage Horse, 16 hands 1 inch high, has recently been blistered on tbe off foie leg, turns his fore feet out, white off hind fetlock, large body, rough coat, tail cut square, and white stripe down tbe face. It was ofBred for sain the next morniug at Ashby and Ashby Ville, by JOHN STRAYTON. of Freiston, near Boston, a boileraiaker's labourer, 45 to 50 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, stout build, fresh complexion, hair and whiskers turning grey,^ ie latter worn down sides of face and round the chin, and has the appearance of a jobber; dressed in a grey topcoat, white slop underneath, moleskin trousers and vest, soft black billycock hat, and strong lace- up boots, with brass eyelet- holes and patent fastening hooks at tops ; he was last seed with the horse at Manby Lodge, near Brigg, about 10 a. m. on tbe llth instant. Stolen from Childerditch, near Brentwood, on the night of the 10th instant : a light brown mare Donkey, 4 years old, raw under the tail, and two old collar marks ; a nearly new pony's snaffle Bridle, with rusty bit; and a common lash Whip, ferrule off butt end. Stolen from Twyford, near Winchester : seven Sheep, two wether, and five old ewes, two marked with dot between shoulders. £ 6 reward will be paid for the recovery and con- viction of the offender or offenders, on application to Super- intendent and Deputy Chief Constable Campbell, Winchester, Hants.— Bom- street, November 17. Stolen from a field at Dudley, during the night of the 3th ultimo : a grey Horse, aged, about 14| bauds high, small lump on near fore leg ; the property of Mr. James Evans. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Burton, Borough Police Office, Dudley, Worcestershire.— Bow- street, November 17. Further information respecting GEORGE FLETCHER ( advertised in the Police Gazette of the 27t, h ultimo), charged with stealing a Pony, Cart, and Harness, then sold them the same day at Biggleswade ( since recovered): — he is about 5 feet inches high ; and has lived at Finchly aud Haaip- stead, where he was employed as a stablemau. Kent, the property of Thomas Atkins and Son : a dark corded sleeved Waistcoat three Dresses, one brown ; a grey Jacket, Vest, and Trousers ; a pair of men's Boots, specked and nailed ; and a pair of women's side- spring Boots. By GEORGE GULSTON, a person uuder police supervision, who was liberated from St. Albans Prison on the 10th April, 1874, and a woman, name unknown ; both were at East Peckham during the hop picking ; Gulston is a painter, 28 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, and has scars on forehead, thumbs, and left leg; he is a native of Watford, Herts, where he resided after his release from prison, but was subsequently transferred to Uxbridge. Inforn ation to be given to Superintendent Hulse, Kent Cou- stablary, West Mailing, who holds the warrant for their apprehension.— Bon- street, November 24. Between 6.30 and 8 p. m. on the 21st instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. John Green, of Castle- street, Chesterton, was broken and entered, and stolen thereiu : a silver patent lever stop Watch, No. 886011, maker Joseph Moses, Bishop Auck- land, has a plaited leather Guard attached; a silver verge HOME AND CATTL£ ST& AXImG. Stolen duriug the night of the 18th instant, from a field near Ashby : a dark brown Colt, nearly 2 years old, about 14 hands higb, long tail, rough coat, has three white legs, a small white spot on the nose, no shoes, and in good condition ; the property of Francis Walker. Information to be given to Superintendent Ward, Constabulary Station, Ashby- de- la- Zoucb, Leicestershire.— Bow- street. November 24. Stolen from a field at Wyrley, during the night of the 8th instant : a bay Mare, aged, 15^ hands high, very long body, and in low condition, the property of Mr. James Walker, Wyrley. Information to be given to Superintendent Hill, Brownhills, near Walsall, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, November 24. Supposed stolen from a field near Haughton Railway Station, duriug the night of the 14th instant; the property of tbe Rev C. S. Royds : nine Ewes, grey faced, not marked ; three ewe Lambs, grey faced, marked on side ' ( R) one Bam, aged, grey faced, marked on side. ' ( R);' all in good con- dition. Stolen from Ash on tbe 9th instant : a bay horse Pony, 10 years old, 11 hands high, long thick coat, white star on forehead, aud white nose. £ b reward will be paid on the recovery of the Pony and conviction of the offender or offeuders. Supposed to have been stolen on the 4th instant, from a field at Neachill, Wednesfield : a black Colt, aged 9 mouths, about 8 or 9 hands high, a small bit off the right ear, aud is in good condition ; the property of Mr. George Hyde. Description of EDWARD GEORGE HILLIER, a mill- worker, a native of London, who has absconded with £ 30 of his employers money : he is 23 years of age, 5 feet 2 or 3 ins. high, light brown hair, no whiskers, slight moustache, florid complexion, aud has a bad leg ; diessed in a shabby suit of dark brown tweed, dark cloth cap, with cloth peaK, dirty white cotton muffler, with red stripe, aud Lome shoes. In- formation to be given to Superintendent McKay, Burgh- buildings,. Galashiels, who holds a warrant for his apprehen- sion.— Bow- street, November 24. Absconded on the 15th instant, from 115A, Aldersgate- street., charged with stealing the sum of £ 94, the monies of his employer : a youth, 19 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, high shoulders, short body, thin, pale face, long nose, and dark hair ; dressed iu dark clothes. He is a clerk, aud of gentlemanly appearance— Metropolitan Police, G Division, November 24. Absconded on the 19th instant, from 38, Whitechapel- road, stealing a lady's gold Geneva Watcb, open- face, No. 34138; two gold Neck Chains; two gold Rings, set with diamonds ; and a pair of lady's side- spring Boots : a Womau, 20 years of age, 5 feet, 2 inches high, fair hair and Complexion ; dress, grey mixture.— Metropolitan Police, H Division, November 24. Description of ROBERT MORRISON, a labourer or miner, charged with larceny at Coxhoe, on the 20th instant ; 34 years of age, 5 feet 4f incties high, fair complexion, dark brown hair, turning grey, scars oil calf of right leg and near right eye, and has lust nearly all his teeth. ID was liberated from Portland Convict Prison on the 2() tti February last, after serving 7 years penal servitude for larceny ; he had pre- viously been couvicted at Bishop Auckland, and other places in tbe county of Durham. WATSON ( supposed to be false), late of 69, Pentonville- road, Loudon, from 30 to 35 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, fair complexion, light hair and whiskers, prominent nose, has lost an upper front tooth, and thin build ; dressed in a dark overcoat and black silk hat. He is accompanied by a woman, 24 years of age, tall, very thin, high forehead, and light hair parted at the side ; dressed in a brown dress, and blue turnover with Dutch tassels. Information to be given to Superintendent Williamson, Detective Office, Great Scotland yard, London, S. W.— haw- street, November 24. Absconded from Treorky. Rhondda Valley, on. the 10 th instant, charged with stealing Halt a Sovereign, the property of William John, his employer : HARRY WILLIAMS, alias HENRY WILLIAMS, a tramping tailor, 47 years of age, about 5 feet high, dark complexion, hair, whiskers and moustache, turning grey, dark eyes, and bald on top of the head ; dressed iu an old black frock coat, old dark cloth trousers and vest, new elastic- side boots, and old black bowler hat. He is a native of Stroud, has lived at Chel- tenham, is much addicted to drink, and takes snuff. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Matthews, Police Office, Pontypridd, Glamorganshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- slreet, November 22. Stolen from a dwelling- house at Cannock, near Stafford, on the 18th instant : a silver lever Watch, No. 9143, maker J. H. Jackson, Tunstall, cream- coloured dial, and seconds. By a lodger, who gave the name of SAMUEL TAYLOR, 25 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, dark eyes and com- plexion, long thin face, slight dark moustache, no whiskers, dark hair, slender build, and is a little cross- eyed ; dressed in a dark cloth suit, elastic- side boots, and hard black felt hat; he is a shoemaker, and stated that he served his apprentice- ship in Manchester. Information to be given to Superinten- dent Hill, Brownhills, near Walsall, or to Sergeant Evans, Cannock, near Stafford, who Holds a warrant for his appre- hension.— Bow- street, November 22. Absconded from Warwick, on the 14th instant, charged with larceny : a man named MITCHELL JOHNSON, about 26 years of age, 5 feet 10| inches high, fresh complexion, fair hair, small light whiskers, left knee- cap broken, and w> lks a little lame; dressed in a light grey overcoat, grey trousers, and felt billycock hat; he is a tramping barber, and is sup posed to have gone to Sheffield. Information to be given to Inspector Franktou, Constabulary Station, Warwick, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow-' treet, Nov. 22. Absconded from Wigtown, charged with stealing on the 12th instant, a quantity of Wearing Apparel ( recovered) : ROBERT BRUCE or HAMILTON, navvy and native of Wigtownshire, about 30 years of age, about 6 feet high, dark hair, no whiskers, and rather red beard; dressed in rough cap, with peak, dark tweed jacket, much faded, vest of same material, white muffler, with black spots, old dirty moleskiu trousers, and old lace boots, much worn. It is supposed that he has gone to Carlisle or Ayr ; be generally works on railways or other public works. Information to be given to Chief Constable Murphy, Wigtown, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- stieei, Nov. 22. Stolen from a dwelling- house at Oldham, on the 10th instant : a black cloth Jacket, pockets at each side, and torn on right elbow; a double- breasted black cloth Vest, two rows ot buttons on breast; a pair of black cloth Trousers, fly fronts, calico lining ; a flannel Shirt; a large Muffler, red. border, imitation fox head at each corner ; a pair of grey Stockings; and a blue satin Necktie. By WILLIAM LEEK, a compositor, about 26 years of age, about 5 feet 3 inches higb, dark complexion and moustache, and light curly hair ; dressed in dark tweed suit, grey flannel shirt, black billycock hat, and low shoes. He is well known at York, Leeds, and Bradford. Information to be given to Chief Constable Hodgkinson, Town Hall, Oldham, Lanca- shire, who holds a warrant for his apprehensioa.— Bow- street, November 19. Description of ADAM PHILLIPS, who is charged at Whitehaven, Cumberland, with stealing, on the 4th ultimo, a Sewing Machine ( recovered) : about 20 years of age, fair complexion, slight fair moustache, brown hair, and propor- tionate make ; dressed in a light grey suit of clothes, cap with peak, and large muffler; he is a baker, and a native of Glasgow. Information to be given to Superintendent Ber- lodged there, about 35 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, dark complexion, short dark hair, small dark beard, slightly pockpitted, and squints with one eye ; dressed m dark mixture cloth shooting coat, brown striped vest, dark striped trousers, black billycock hat, black and white striped neck scarf, aud elastic- side boots. Information to be given to Chief Constable Beech, Bolton, Lancashire.— Bow- st., Nov. 17. Description of HERBERT MORLEY, charged on a warrant with stealing £ 35, fryni the office of the collector of market tolls, Brighton, and has absconded : 16 years of age, tall, stoutly built, reddish complexion, aud light hair, inclined to sandy ; dressed in blue jac^ tvyMark grey tweed trousers, and black Oxford hat. May be in company with another youth, 16 years of age, tall, freckled face, and dark hair ; daessed in blu « jacket, dark trousers and vest, and round felt bat. Both are labourers, and are supposed to have gone to Birmingham, Liverpool, or Manchester. Information to be given to Chief Constable . White, Town Hall, Brighton, Sussex, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, November 17. Description of CHARLES GRIEFITH, late surveyor of roads to the Blakeuey Local Board, who has absconded, charged with embezzling the sum of ,£ 165 : lit is 24 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, pale flat fa; o, rather high cheek bones, fair hair, smail light whiskers and moustache, inclined to be sandy, and has a downcast look when walking ; dressed in dark clothes. Information to be given to Supeiintendent Cbipp, Coleford, Gloucestershire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- st'eel, November 17. Stolen from a dwelling- house at North Ormesby, near Middlesborough, during the night of the 13th instant : a pair of brown clotb Trousers, with black stripe down tbe sides, fly fronts, and metal buttons ; a pair of men's strong lace- up Boots ; an old blue t willed cloth Coat, three buttons in front and two on each sleeve. By a lodger, 21 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches higb, hazel eyes, prominent nose, aud dark hair; dressed in a black billycock hat, grey coat, the stolen trousers and boots, aud wears a heavy belt with buckle. He frequents music hails, theatres, aud shows. He came out of North- allerton Gaol, ou the 11th instant, after undergoing 4 months imprisonment, and is supposed to be making his way soutb. Information to be given to Superintendent Simpson, North Riding Constabulary, South Stockton, or to Inspector Rob- son, Police Station, North Oimesby, Middlesborough, Yorks. — Bow street, November 17. Absconded on the 27th ultimo, from 55, Oxford- street, embezzling £ 20 : a mm, 30 years of age, 5 feet 7 inctieshigh, fair complexion, dark curly hair, no whiskers ; dressed in dark clothes, grey overcoat, aud round hat.— Metropolitan Police, E Division, November 17. A man aud a woniau of the following description are charged on a warrant, with obtaining by false pretences : a woollen Shawl, from David Davies, Llauilar, Cardiganshire, on tbe 28th ultimo : the man is about 60 years of age, grey hair, aud Ion; grey whiskers ; dressed iu blue pilot cloth top- coat, black silk tiat, with black clotn baud, aud heavy boots ; the woman is about the same age, and wears a long water- proof cloak, with hood ; they carried a black leather bag and umbrellas, aud said they were going to St. Hermon, to receive a large sum of money left theui by a relative ; there are several other charges against them. Information to be given to Superintendent Lloyd, Aberystwith, or to Police Constable Davies, Llanilar, Cardiganshire.— Bow street, No- ll.
