MURDER AMD MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING- Absconded, charged with maliciously causing grievous • bodily harm to James Haywood : GEORGE BRITTON, a skinner, about 38 years of age, 5 feet 7£ inches high, dark hair and whiskers. Information to be given to Superinten- dent Haigb, Kiddermiaster, Worcestershire, who holds a wariant for his apprehension.— Bow street, November 19. Charged ( on a warrant) with maliciously wounding George Johnson, at Howden, East Yorkshire : ELLIS MOBRITT, about 35 years of age ( looks younger), 5 feet 7 inches high, proportionate make, light hair, straight and cut short, blue or grey eyes, light aud thin whiskers and moustache, a little hair on chin, high cheekbones, aud his left hand and wrist were lately badly cut with glass ; dressed • either in a short smock and fustian or cord trousers, or a rather long rough dark overcoat with pockets in flaps, or in a drab cloth shooting coat, vest and trousers to match, generally wears a cloth cap, heavy boots, and woollen scarf ; he carries his hands in his side pockets or behind his back under his coat; he is a labourer with thrashing machines. Information to be given to Inspector Bobertson, East Biding Constabulary, Howden.— Bow- street, November 17. Description of five Irish labourers who absconded from " the neighbourhood of Lymm, Cheshire, on the night of the 31st ultimo, and who are charged with wounding James Wibberley, a police constable : JAMES HEALEY, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, dark complexion, dark whiskers all round the chin, and rather stout build ; dressed in black billycock hat, grey frieze coat, tweed vest and trousers with coloured stripe down legs, and lace- up boots. MALACHI CONROY, 30 years of age, about 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, little whiskers, and pockpitted; dressed in a billycock ' hat, dark clotti coat, and very clean cord trousers. PATRICK MORLEY, alias FISH, 28 years of age, fresh complexion, rather long features, and thick lips; dressed in cord jacket. JOHN MORLEY, alias FISH, about 24 years of age, 5 ft. 5 inches high, fresh complexion, very little whiskers, and rather stout built; dressed in light tweed coat, and dark cloth trousers. JAMES MORLEY, alias FISH, 18 years of age ; dressed in grey frieze coat. James Healey, Patrick, John, and James Morley came from Cloonfaughna, Knocks, county Mayo, Ireland. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BSEAKIIG, Stolen by means of house breaking on the morning of the 16th instant, from the dwelling- house of Miss Ditton, Northgate- street, Canterbury : five plain silver Tea Spoons ; a pair of silver Sugar Tongs; two old- fashioned silver Spoons, marked ' H. | T. S.;' two small silver Tea Spoon Bowls ; two German silver Table Spoons; 16s. in Silver; 3s. worth of 1d. Postage Stamps; several small Pocket Knives; and several pairs of Scissors. Information to be given to Chief Constable Davies, Police Office, Canterbury, Kent.— Bow- street, November 19. Stolen by means of housebreaking ; a dark cloth Over- coat, with black velvet cellar, pockets outside with flaps, aud one inside breast pocket; a suit of black Cloth, nearly new ; a suit of plaid Cloth, new ; two pairs of wcollen Stockings ; blue Scarf; a new woollen Shirt; and a green clasped Purse, containing six Sovereigns, the property of John Shone, Bed Wither, Issacoed. Also stolen from the house of Margaret Rogers, of the same place, on the same day : a silver half- pint Measure, engraved ' Overton Agricultural Society'; a silver cream Jug; two silver table Spoons; six large silver tea Spoons, marked ' J. M. R.'; six smaller ditto, marked ' J. R.' Spoon; a silver mustard Spoon, marked ' J. B. silver sugar Tongs, marked ' J. B.' ; and 9s. in Silver. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Bradshaw, Wrexham, Denbighshire.— Bow- street, Nov. 19 HORSE AMD CATTL13 STEALING. Found, supposed to have been stolen, about bhe 12th of August last, a dark brown haif- bred Mare, 5 years old, 16 hands high,, black legs, switch tail, and very gpod action. Information to be given to Superintendent Humphries,. Police Station, King's Heath, near Birmingham,, Warwick- shire.— Bow- street, November 12. Stolen from a field at Morton, on the 10th- instant, the property of Mrs. Sharp : a light bay carriage Horse, 16 hands 1 inch high, has recently been blistered on tbs- off foie leg.,, turns his fore feet out, white off hind fetlock, large body, rough coat, tail cut square, and white stripe down the face. It was offered for sale the next morniug at Ashby and Ashby Ville, by JOHN STRAYTON, of Freiston, near Boston,, a boilermaker's labourer, 45 to 50 years of ag ® , 5 feet 6 on 7 inches higb, stout build, fresh complexion, hair and whiskers turning grey, the latter worn down sides of face and round the chin, and has the appearance of a jobber; dressed in a grey topcoat, white slop underneath, moleskin trousers and vest, soft black billycock hat, and strong lace- up boots, with brass eyelet- holes and patent fastening hooks at tops; he was last seen with the horse at Manby Lodge, near Brigg, about 10 a. m. on the 11th instant. Stolen from Childerditch, near Brentwood, on the night of the 10th instant : a light brown mare Donkey, 4 years old, raw under tbe tail, and two old collar marks; a nearly new pony's snaffle Bridle, with rusty bit; and a common lash Whip, ferrule off butt end. Stolen from the person on the 13th instant, at Louth : a silver pair- case verge Watch, No. 2294 or 2297, with English • figures, and a long pendant, has a steel Chain, with 3d. Piece, two watch Keys, aud a Common brass Seal attached. Supposed by FRANCIS GLYNN, a bricklayer's labourer, and a native of Louth : 24 years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, browu hair, pale complexion, has a tuft of hair on chiD, walks very erect, and has served in the Royal Marines and North Lincoln Militia; he was dressed in light moleskin trousers and vest, white smock, dark cap, and lace- up boots. Stolen from the person of William Merrill, in West- street, Crewe, on the 13th instant: a silver lever Watch, No. 1963, maker Cadick, Liverpool, with a steel Chain, three Keys, a small white sea Shell, and two yellow Hoops. Between 6.30 and 8.30 p. m., on tho 14th instant, a dwelling- house at New Brompton, Gillingham, Kent, was entered by means of skeleton keys and stolen therein : a small single link gold Albert Chain, much worn and broken iu two pieccs, and about £ 20 in Gold and Silver. Informa- tion to be given to Superintendent Coppinger, Kent Constabulary, Chatham.— Bow- street, November 17. During the night of the 12th instant, a shop was broken into at Llangamarch, Breconshire, and stolen therein : 20| yards of narrow grey plaid Cloth ; 5$ yards of broad heavy fancy plaid Cloth ; 15 yards of brown Velveteen ; 3 pairs of elastic Braces, with the shop mark upon them ; 1 large red and white Scarf ; 1 small black and white ditto ; and 2 lbs. of Franklin's Tobacco. Supposed by two tramps : one rather stout and had long sandy whiskers ; dressed in black soft hat, and dark coat. The other was dressed in dark clothes. Stolen by means of house breaking on the 7th instant, from the dwelling- house of William Dyball, at Ranworth, Norfolk, carter ; a £ 10 Note, aud two £ 5 Notes, on Gurney's Bank ; £ 40 in Gold ; a silver Watch ; a sou'wester Hat; a grey calico Shirt; two blue Guernseys ; a pair of worsted Stockings ; and a pair of. women's lace up leather Boots. Yarmouth, labourer, about 48 years of age, 5 feet 5£ inches high, fresh complexion, dark brown hair and whiskers, turning grey, bald headed, grey eyes, round face, scar corner of right eye, crucifix, angel, trumpet, star and crescent tattooed on right upper arm, mermaid, Britannia, cross pipes, and glass on right arm, star and dots on back of light hand, ' G. Postle,'' M. Rook,' and other marks on left arm, and ' R. Johnson,' inside left leg, and is very deaf. Supposed to be wearing the stolen clothes. £ 5 reward will be paid for his apprehension and recovery of the property. He has often been convicted of felony in Great Yarmouth, Norwich, Scarborough, & c. Information to be given to Inspector Basham, Police Office, Acle, Norfolk, or at the County Police Station, Norwich, Norfolk.— Bou- street, November 12. Between 9 a. m. and 2 p. m. on the 9th instant, the house of Thomas Hoply, Parley Green, Overton, was entered by forcing the front door with a coal hammer, and a nearly new black cloth Coat, pockets on hips, three Vests, a check Shirt, two pairs of tweed Trousers, and an old- fashioned silver verge Watch, stolen therein. Supposed by tramps. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Bolton, Hanmer, Whitchurch, Salop, or to Sergeant Matthews, Overton, Flint- shire,— Bow- ttreet, November 12. HARRY HARROWSMITH, who was advertised in the Police Gazette of the 20th ultimo, charged with obtaining a Horse, of John Hunter, at Leatherhead, by false pretences, is not to be apprehended, the warrant having bee- a withdrawn. — Bow- street, November 17. Further information respecting GEORGE FLETCHER ( advertised in the Police Gazette of the 27th ultimo), charged with stealing a Pony, Cart, and Harness, then sold them the same day at Biggleswade ( since recovered) he is about 5 feet 5J inches high ; and has lived at Finchly and Hamp stead, where he was employed as a stableman. Information to be given to Superintendent Hamilton, Ramsey, Hunts, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, Nor vember 17. Stolen from a field at Mortan, during the night ol the 10th instant: a bay- coloured carriage Horse, 16 hands 1 inch bigh, large body, recently fired on off fore fetlock, off hind fetlock white, white stripe down face, tail cut square, and rough coat. Information to be given to Superintendent True- love, County Police Station, Gainsborough, Lincolnshire.— — Bow- street, November 15. Stolen during the night of the 10th instant, from Manor Farm, Kidbrook ; a light bay cart Gelding, in low condition, three legs and face white, black mane and tail, saddle marked. — Metropolitan Police, R Division, November 15. LARCENY AMD EMBEZZLEMENT. Stolen from a dwelling- house at Oldham, on the 10th instant: a black cloth Jacket, pockets at each side, and torn ou right elbow ; a double- breasted black cloth Vest, two rows of buttons on breast; a pair of blaek cloth Trousers, fly fronts, calico lining ; a flannel Shirt; a large Muffler, red border, imitation fox head at each corner ; a pair of grey Stockings; and a blue satin Necktie. By WILLIAM LEEK, a compositor, about 26 years of age, about 5 feet 3 inches high, dark complexion and moustache, and light curly hair ; dressed in dark tweed suit, grey flannel shirt, black billycock hat, and low shoes. He is well known at York, Leeds, and Bradford. Information to be given to Chief Constable Hodgkinson, Town Hall, Oldham, Lanca- shire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, November 19. Description of ADAM PHILLIPS, who is charged at Whitehaven, Cumberland, with stealing, on the 4th ultimo, a Sewing Machine ( recovered) : about 20 years of age, fair complexion, slight fair moustache, brown hair, and propor- tionate make ; dre.-- ssd in a light grey suit of clothes, cap with peak, and large muffler ; lie is a baker, and a native of Glasgow. Information to be given to Superintendent Ber- tram, Constabulary Office, Whitehaven, or at the County Chief Constable's Cffi.- e, Carlisle, Cumberland.— Bow- Street, November 19, 9 POLICE GAZETTE, November 19 Description of WILLIAM DAVIES, alias JARRETT, alias BARRETT, who escaped from the Police at Swansea, Great Western Railway Station, while being conveyed to Swansea Prison, under a sentence of one month s hard labour, for larceny on the 6th instant: 15 to 16 years o£ age, 5 ft. inch high, sallow complexion, dark brown hair, hazsl eyes, and scar on right cheek; he is a native of Mountain Ash : dressed in an old duck jacket, old moleskin trousers, and black cloth cap, all dirty from sleeping in them in works; he is a collier and smith striker. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Thomas, Merthyr Tydfil, Glamor- ganshire.— Bow- street, November 19. Description of a man remanded at Worksop, Notts, on a charge of stealing two Coats; a quantity of silver Spoons; and a silver Fork, from Woodleigh House, on the 14th inst., the property of F. Bardwell, Esq. : he gives the name o£ CHARLES SCOTT, about 50 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches higb, grey hair, dark brown beard and moustache ; dressed in blue pilot jacket, light cord trousers, and black cloth cap ; he states he is a native of Dewsbury, Yorkshire. Informa- tion to be given to Superintendent Blasdall, County Police Station, Worksop, Nott3.— Bow- street, November 17. Absconded from Wigtown, charged with stealing cn the 12th instant, a quantity of Wearing Apparel ( recovered) : ROBERT BRUCE or HAMILTON, a navvy and native of Wigtownshire, about 30 years of age, about 6 feet high, dark hair, no whiskers, aud rather red beard; dressed in rough cap, with peak, dark tweed jacket, much , faded, vest of sims material, white muffler, with black spots, old duty moleskin trousers, and old lace boots, much worn. It is supposed that he has gone to Carlisle or Ayr ; he generally works on railways or other public works. Information to be given to Chief Constable Murphy, Wigtown, Ayr, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow street, November 17. Stolen from the dwelling- house of Mr. Henry Richards, of Spring Grove Villa, Cemetery- road, Crewe, on tbe 14th instant : a lady's small silver lever Watch, engine- turned case, and white dial ; a long gold Chain, small link pattern ; a plain electro- plated Cruet- stand, stand for three bottles ; a small low round plain electro- plated Tea pot; and two electro- plated Tea Spoons, fiddle pattern. By a labourer, lodging there : about 22 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches higb, sandy - hair, light complexion, very small whiskers, healthy looking, downcast appearance, light built, tui ns his feet out when walking, as hi3 ankles are weak, and is very quiet in his manner; dressed in a suit of black cloth clothes, elastic- side boots, and black billycock hat. Information to be given to Superintendent Saxton, Nantwicb, or to Inspector Morris, Police Station,. Crewe, Cheshire.— Bow- street, Nov. 17. Stolen on the 13th instant, from a dwelling- house at Bolton : a Bed Tick, a blue alhambra Quilt ( unhemmed), and a new Blanket ( edged on one side with red worsted). By a lodger there, about 23 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches high, and dark complexion; dressed in moleskin jacket and trousers, watertight boots, and wears ear- rings. He is accompanied by his wife. Information to be given to Chief Constable Beech, Borough Police Offices, Town Hall, Bolton, Lancashire.— Bow- slreet, November 17. Stolen from a dwelling- house at Bolton, on the 12th inst.: six grey and white woollen Shirts, unmade ; a woollen tartan plaid Skirt and Tunic ; a lady's black cloth Jacket., trimmed with velvet, hooks at the top, and has long wide sleeves ; a lady's light black cloth Jacket, glass buttons, and trimmed with black imitation dog skin ; a black and white inch- plaid Shawl; a large black aud white plaid woollen Shawl, with a hole in the middle ; a girl's brown wincey Skirt, trimmed with three rows of black braid : a woman's ne , v green corded Skirt; a while flannel Skirt, nearly new; and a pair of woman's elastic- side kid Boots, much worn. By a man wh « s lodged there, about 35 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 jijck. es high, dark complexion, short dark hair, small dark beard, slightly pockpitted, and squints with one eye ; dressed in dark mixture cloth shooting coat, brown striped vest, dark striped trousers, black billycock hat, black and white striped neck scarf, and elastic- side boots. Information to be given to Chief Constable Beech, Bolton, Lancashire.— Bow- st., Nov. 17. Description of HERBERT MORLEY, charged on a warrant with stealing £ 35, from the office ot the collector of market tolls, Brighton, and has absconded : 16 years of age, tall, stoutly built, reddish complexion, aud light hair, inclined to sandy ; dressed in blue jacket, dark grey tweed trousers, and black Oxford hat. May be in company with another youth, 16 years of age, tall, freckled face, and dark hair ; daessed in blue jacket, dark trousers and vest, and round felt hat. Both are labourers, and are supposed to have gone to Birmingham, Liverpool, or Manchester. Information to be given to Chief Constable White, Town Hall, Brighton, Sussex, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, November 17. Description of CHARLES GRIFFITH, late surveyor of roads to the Blakeney Local Board, who has absconded, charged with embezzling the sum of £ 165 : he is 24 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, pale fiat face, rather high cheek bones, fair hair, smali light whiskers and moustache, inclined to be sandy, and has a downcast look when walking ; dressed in dark clothes. Information to be given to Supeiintendent Chipp, Coleford, Gloucestershire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, November 17. Stolen from a dwelling- house at North Ormesby, near Middlesborou^ h, during the night of the 13th instant : a pair of brown cloth Trousers, with black stripe down the sides, lly fronts, and metal buttons ; a pair of men's strong lace- up Boots ; an old blue twilled cloth Coat, three buttons in front and two on each sleeve. By a lodger, 21 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, hazel eyes, prominent nose, and dark hair; dressed in a black billycock hat, grey coat, the stolen trousers and boots, and wears a heavy belt with buckle. He frequents music halls, theatres, and shows. He came out of North- allerton Gaol, on the llth instant, after undergoing 4 months imprisonment, and is supposed to be making his way soutb. Information to be given to Superintendent Simpson, North Riding Constabulary, South Stockton, or to Inspector Rob- SOD, Police Station, North Ormesby, Middlesborough, Yorks. — Bow- street, November 17. Absconded on the 27th ultimo, from 55, Oxford- street, embezzling £ 20 : a man, 30 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, fair complexion, dark curly hair, no whiskers; dressed in dark clothes, grey overcoat, and round hat.— Metropolitan Police, E Division, November 17. Absconded on the 8th instant, charged with stealing £ 4 15s., and a silver Geneva Watch, engine- turned back, with a silver Albert Chain attached ; the property of David Edmunds, with whom he was lodging: JOHN LEESON, about 19 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, stout build, fresh. complexion, and light brown hair; dressed in dark coat and Vest, black cloth trousers, and black alpine hat ; he is a native of Wappenham, Northamptonshire. Information to bo given to Chief Constable Keenan, Northampton, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, Novem- ber 15. CHARLES TRICKER, late of Bramhope, near Otley, farm labourer, is chafed with violently assaulting and beat- ing a gamekeeper aV; Bramhope on the 3rd instant : he is 25 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, fresh long face, brown eyes, dark brown hair, and slight moustache ; dressed in a grey mixture suit, black billycock hat, and lace- up boots ; he is a native of Estsex, and speaks with a south of England accent. No. 9206, a convict license holder, who has failed to report himself : he was convicted at Wakefield Sessions, 16th August, 1869, and sentenced to 7 years penal servitude for larceny, and was discharged from Dartmoor Prison, 4th May, 1875, 30 years of age, 5 feet 7J inches high, brown hair, fresh complexion, hazel eyes, mole on right side of neck, several on back, forefinger of left hand, nail injured, and varicose veins on both legs.
