Notice.— It ia requested that all communications lor tlie purpose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolen property, may bear the Signature of the person requiring or tending tbe same, and all applications in reference to tbe POLICE GAZETTE may be made aud addressed to the Editor, Police Court, Bow Street, London, W. C. *#* Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any aiticle in the POLICE GAZETTE, all Letters addressed to the Editor must lie prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. The Names and Descriptions of Deserters from the Army, and of Absentees and Deserters from the Militia, should be forwarded on War Office Forms 88 and 88A, to the Editor, as above, for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE. INFORMATIONS. MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING- Description of five Irish labourers who absconded from the neighbourhood of Lymm, Cheshire, on the night of the 31et ultimo, and who are charged with wounding James Wibberley, a police constable : JAMES HEALEY, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, dark complexion, dark whiskers all round the chin, and rather stout build ; dressed in black billycock hat, grey frieze coat, tweed vest and trousers with coloured stripe down legs, and lace- up boots. MALACHI CONROY, 30 years of age, about 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, little whiskers, and pockpitted; dressed in billycock hat, dark cloth coat, and very clean cord trousers. PATRICK MORLEY, alias FISH, 28 years of. age, fresh complexion, rather long features, and thick lips; dressed in cord jacket. JOHN MOBLEY, alias FISH, about 24 years of age, 5 ft. 6 inches high, fresh complexion, very little whiskers, and rather stout built; dressed in light tweed coat, and dark cloth trousers. JAMES MORLEY, alias FISH, 18 years of age; dressed in grey frieze coat, James Healey, Patrick, John, and James Morley came from Cloonfauglma, Knocks, county Mayo, Ireland. Information to be given to Superintendent Steen, Altrincham, or to Sergeant Leighton, Police Station, Lymm, Cheshire, who holds warrants for their apprehension.— Bow- street, Nov. 5. ALEXANDER SCOTT alias CLAYTON, late of Bed- lington, Northumberland, was bailed for trial at the Quarter Sessions at Durham, on the 18th ultimo, on a charge of Malicious Wounding; he did not surrender, and a true bill having been found against him, his bail was estreated, and a bench warrant granted for his apprehension : he is 23 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, blue eyes, sallow complexion, downcast appearance, dark brown hair, and proportionate make; he is a pitman, and much addicted to drinking and quarrelling. Stolen from the person of Shadrach Foster, Seacroft, Cannock, about 4' 30 p. m. on the lst instant : a silver Geneva Watcb, No. 46747, thick flat glass, white enamel dial, and gold hands, brass Chain attached, with Seal and Key. In- formation to be given to Superintendent Hill, Brownhills, or to P. C. Cockerell, Police Station, Hednesford, near Stafford. — Bow street, November 3. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Stolen from the person at the North Eastern Railway Station, Beverley, on the 5th instant: a silver Watch, No. 36450, maker Reynoldson, Hull, ' G. W. R.' engraved on back of case. Also stolen from the person in Beverley, on the 6th instant: a silver lever Watch, maker Smith, Middlesborough, yellow dial, with circle of gilt flowers between centre and numerals, steel hands, seconds, & e. Information to be given to Head Constable Knight, Guild- hall, Beverley, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, November 10. Stolen from the person at Brighton Races, on the 2nd inst: a silver lever Watch, maker S. Boulter, No. 1838 ; also, supposed to have been stolen from the person, on the 3rd instant, a very large gold Pin, set with cat's- eye and sur- rounded by diamonds. Stolen from the person of Thomas Dean, at Davenham, at 10' 15 p. m. on the lst instant: a silver Geneva Watch, No. 10371, black dial, and a thermometer underneath the pivot. Information to be given to Superintendent Row- bottom, County Police, Middlewich, Cheshire.— Bow- street, November 5. Stolen from the person in Ripon, early on the morning of the 2nd instant : a gold lever " Watch, engraved back, gold dome, sunk seconds, |- plate, hard dial, jewelled in eight holes, gold balance, No. 30482, private No. 1154, maker H. S. Smith, Leeds; a gold Albert Guard, long links; a brown leather Purse, elastic rather worn, containing about £ 9 in Gold, three Two- shilling Pieces, a Half- crown, and a Threepenny Piece ; a small brown paper Parcel, addressed ' E. W. Barker, Com- mercial- street, containing a cotton Shirt, with open front; and a brown ribbed silk Umbrella, name on top ' Buckingham BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING, On the 8th instant, a house at Llanfwrog, near Ruthin: was broken into, and a blue monkey Jacket, nearly new, with pockets at the sides and breast, and an old single- barrel Gun, stolen therein. Supposed by a man, about 26 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, large nose and mouth, and thick lips ; dressed in dark felt hat, dark monkey jacket, fustian trousers, and thick navvy boots. He spoke Welsh, appeared to be acquainted with the neighbourhood, and was in search of employment as a waggoner. Information to be given to Inspector Sheehan, Police Office, Ruthin, Denbighshire.— Bow- street, November 10. Between 5 and 7 p. m. on" the 7th instant, a dwelling- house at Batley Carr was entered by means of false keys, and stolen therein : 1 old- fashioned silver verge hunting Watch, with white enamelled dial, slightly damaged, several indentations on outer case. 1 long flat silver Chain, much worn, and tied with thread at a broken place. 3]- yards of drab tweed Cloth, 27 inches wide. 2j yards of black doeskin Cloth, 27 inches wide. lj yard of black army Cloth, 60 inches wide. 1 pair of women's new Boots, with cloth uppers, and patent leather round the bottoms. 1 pair of silver Sugar Tongs, marked ' B. E. S,' 1 gold Brooch, snake pattern. 1 gold Brooch, set with pearl. 1 gold Brooch, containing hair, and the words ' In memory of' in centre. 1 black Broocb, with a bluejieart- shaped stone in centre. 1 pair of jet Bracelets. 1 Thaler, 1 Franc, and several other foreign Coins. £ 9 5s. in Gold and Silver. Stolen between 6 and 8 p. m. on the 7th instant, from the residence of Mrs. Prichard, at Emscote, Warwick, by means of skeleton keys : a gold Chain, with a hand, set with blue and red stones ; a pair of pearl Ear- rings; a pair of gold filigree ditto and Brooch ; a gold Ear- ring with six turquoise ; a gold Ring, two small snakes, set with topaz ; a gold ditto, with hair ; a gold ditto, set with pearls and red stones, broken ; a silver- mounted Smelling Bottle ; a Scarf Pin, crystal in silver ; a mourning gold Scarf ditto, broken ; three plain gold Rings ; a silver Bencil- case ; four silver Buttons ; and a few silver Coins. Stolen by means of burglary at Chatham, on the morning of the 7th instant : nine white embossed silk Pocket Hand- kerchiefs, with a bird in each corner, marked ' L.' in pencil at one corner; nine ditto, with spotted borders; a pair of mixture cloth Trousers, fly fronts; and a double- breasted Vest of the same material. By two men, middle, age, one taller than the other, with sandy whiskers, dressed in dark clothes, who were seen to leave the house by the front door at 11' 5 5 a. m. Stolen from a watchmaker's shop in Hull, by means of breaking a square of plate glass in a window, through an opening in a shntter, about 5 a. m. on the lst instant : a silver Geneva Watch ; a lady's gold Chain, belcher pattern ; three or four gold albert Chains, one of them a graduated curb; and five or six plated Alberts, commonly known as American or veneered. Information to be given to Chief Constable Cook, Hull, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, November 5. Between 2.30 and 4 p. m. on the 30th ultimo, the dwelling- house fof John Stubbs, of Edgton, Salop, was broken and entered and stolen therein : a white slop Jacket, one button off, and the seam near the cuff unsewn ; a pair of cotton- cord Trousers, flap front, one button off waistband; a blue and black plaid jilush Waistcoat, a piece let into each seam ; two old unbleached calico Shirts; one puce and one black and red Neckties, & c. By a tramp, about 23 years of age, 5 ft. 5 or 6 inches higb, stout make, and dark complexion; dressed in dark clothes. Information to be given to Superintendent Caswell, Church Stretton, or to Sergeant Lear, Bromfield, Salop.— Bow- street, November 5. Between 6 and 7' 40 p. m. on the 31st ultimo, the band- master's Quarters, at Parkhurst Barracks, were broken and entered, and a Purse containing three Sovereigns ; four Half- sovereigns ; a bag Purse, containing ,£ 1 lis. in Silver; an old monkey Jacket; a suit of grey tweed Clothes ; and a pair of elastic- side Boots, stolen therein. By HENRY BYRNE, alias H. BORLAND, a bandsman of the 49th Regiment, who has deserted : he is about 19 years of age, about 5 feet 8^ inches high, dark complexion, and slight moustache ; he has a relatiye at Colchester. Information to HOBSE AMD CATTLE STEALING. * Stolen from a field near Winchester, on the night of the 12th ultimo : a red and white Steer, marked ' W.' on the right hip. .£ 3 reward will be paid for information that will lead to the recovery of the steer, and conviction of the offender or offenders, en application to Superintendent Campbell, Winchester.— Bow- street, November 10. The Horse, Harness, and Chaise advertised in the Police Gazette of the 5th instant, as stolen from Portsmouth, have been recoveied.— Bow- street, November 10. Obtained by fraud on the 4th instant, from Sharpless Hall- street: a dark brown cob horse Pony. 14 hands high, long coat, and short tail; a Saddle with black stain on seat; and a snaffle Bridle. By a youth 17 years of age, 5 ft. 2 ins. higb, fair complexion, and light brown hair ; dressed in blue overcoat, velvet collar, blue pilot jacket underneath, dark trousers and vest, laced boots, and cheesecutter cap with gold band.— Metropolitan Police, S Division, November 10. Stolen during the night of the 29th ultimo, from a field at Dryburn : a black horse Pony, 15 hands high, 10 years old, white patch on forehead, old sore on back, on which the hair has not grown, very little hair on legs, in good condition. Information to be given to Superintendent Dunn, County Constabulary, Durham.— Bow- street, November 10. Stolen on the 27th uit., at the Cowhill Fair, Newcastle- on- Tyne : a black Horse, 8 years old, 15 hands high, small white spot on forehead, and spot near left eye. By JOSEPH DENT, 30 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, slender make, thin features, and dressed in a grey tweed suit; has been a jockey. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, Newcastle- on- Tyne, Durham, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, November 8. Stolen from a field at Selby Wick, on the 30th ultimo : a dark brown Pony, 13 hands 1 inch high, hog mane, and rough coat, the property of Mr. Henry Webley. Information to be given at the Police Station, King's Heath, near Bir- mingham.— Bow- street, November 8. Further information respecting the Horses stolen from Aylestone, and advertised in the Police Gazette of the lst instant: the three men described have been apprehended in Birmingham, and are remanded on charges of horse stealing in that Borough till the 10th instant. The Carriage Horse, Saddles, and Bridles have not yet been recovered. Information to be given to Superintendent Moore, Belgrave, or at the County Constabulary Office, Leicester.— Bow- street, November 5. Stolen from a stable at Gillingham, between 5 and 10 p. m. on the 31st ultimo : a bay cob Mare, 13 or 14 hands high, aged, near hind fetlock white, small hind feet, rather long neck, and in fair condition. Information to be given to Superintendent Coppinger, Kent Constabulary, Chatham,—* Bow- street, November 3, POLICE GAZETTE. November 10 Found ( supposed stolen) about a fortnight ago : a bay- Horse, rising 4 years old, small white spot on near side, brand mark ' 1875' on hoof on near fore foot. Also a brown Horse, aged, about 16 hands high, saddle marked on both sides, large lump on knee of near fore leg, walks very lame, white hind feet, and in low condition. Information to be given to Sergeant Hammond, Shenstone, near Lichfield, Staffordshire. — Bow- street, November 3. Supposed stolen from a field at the parish of Lilleshall, on the night of the 26th ultimo : a brown Horse, 3 years old, 15 hands 3 inches high, long bushy tail, a little white on one hind foot, and the mark of a wart under the belly. Informa- tion to be given to Chief Superintendent Richardson, Wellington, or to Sergeant Christie, Newport, Salop.— Bow- street, November 3. The Horse stolen from the parish of Holy Cross Shrewsbury, as advertised in the Police Gazette of the 29th ultimo, has been recovered. A man who gave the name of ALBERT BENTLY, is charged with stealing the same, he gave his address Stafford- street, Wolverhampton, about 35 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, dark hair, whiskers, and moustache, and pale face ; dressed in a fashionable suit of dark mixture cloth. A new Bridle aud an old Saddle ( supposed stolen) were found on the horse. Information to be given to Head Contable Davies, Shrewsbury, Salop, who holds a warrant for his apprehension,— Bow- street, Novem- ber 3. • Absconded from Bishop Auckland, charged with stealing a fat Bullock ( recovered), on the 12th ultimo : JAMES THOMPSON, alias DIXON, late of Crook, french polisher, from 28 to 30 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, pale complexion, dark eyes, very curly black hair, whiskers shaved off, dark moustache, and slender figure; dressed in light grey cloth overcoat, brown cloth coat, with pockets behind, pepper- aud- salt coloured trousers, black billycock hat, and elastic- side boots, with buttons up the front. He is supposed to be a native of Scarborough, served his apprenticeship with a cabinet maker in York, and has worked for cabinet makers in Dewsbury, Leeds, Bradfoid, and other large towns. He was last seen at Middlesborough on the 18th ultimo. Information to be given to Superintendent Henderson, Bishop Auckland, Durham, who holds a warrant for his apprehen- sion.— Bow- street, November 3. Description of GEORGE MARSHALL, alias BRUSH, charged with obtaining a Pony ( recovered) by false pretences at Newcastle- on- Tyne Fair, on the 26th ultimo : 41 years of age, 5 ieet 1\ inches high, dark brown hair, hazel eyes, dark complexion, scar on nose, pockpitted, has a peculiar look in his eyes, he is a cartman, and a native of Sunderland. In- formation to be given to the Chief Constable, Detective Department, Newcastle- on- Tyne, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, November 3. tendent Richardson, Wellington, or to Sergeant Higgins, Dawley, Salop, who holds a warrant for her apprehension.— Bow- street, November 10. Stolen during the night of the 28th ultimo, from a stable at Lees Hill, Kingwater : a rough grey Overcoat, single- breasted, has six black bone buttons in front, and a pocket on each side; a check cotton Jacket j a white cotton Jacket; a red and white woollen Mutller ; a pair of lace- up watertight Boots ; and a pair of lace- up Boots, with three hooks at,. the top of lace- holes, and toe- capped. Supposed by two tramps or cattle drovers, who were making their way towards Scot- land. Information to be given to Superintendent Carson, Brampton, of at the County Chief Constable's Office, Carlisle. — Bow- street, November 8. Absconded from Brad ford- o5- A von on the 6th instant, charged with stealing from his lodgings : a brown cloth Over- coat, with velvet collar, lined with, red and black plaid : a blue and white cotton Shirt ; a - white shirt Front; a blue satin cloth Skirt, quilted; four white calico Bodices ; foul pairs of white Stockings; four white cotton Ant, imacassors ; four men's silk Neckties, of various colours ; aud a volume of the ' Pilgrim's Progress': a man, about 22 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, pale complexion, brown hair, and small light whiskers; dressed in a dark cloth overcoat, grey trousers, hard felt hat, and is supposed to be wearing the stolen shirt; he said he was a painter. Information to be given to Inspector Maggs, Wilts Constabulary, Bradford- on- Avon.— Bow- street, November 8. Stolen about 5 p. m. on the 3rd instant, from the bed- room of George Skinner, a beerseller: £ 5 in Gold, £ a in Silver, and about 3s. in Copper Monies. By a man and woman, who were lodging in the house, and left by the Great Northern 5- 35 train to King's Cross the same evening, the man was seen at the booking office at Hatfield, exchanging coppers for silver with the booking clerk, he is a plasterer, 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fresh complexion, full eyes, sandy hair and moustache, and no whiskers; dressed in brown coat, cord trousers and vest, and brown deerstalker hat. Had with him a small wooden bird cage and bird, and a bundle tied up in pink glazed calico. The woman is about 25 years of age, rather short, dark complexion, thin face, slight build, and sharp nose; dressed iu a brown alpaca dress, dark blue jacket, trimmed with black imitation seal- skin, black felt hat, turned up at the sides and blue feather. Her name is LUCY PREGGOTT, she is supposed to be known to the police at Barnet, where she has lived as servant at a public- house. Information to be given to Head Con- stable Pike, Police Office, St. Alban's, Hertford, who holds a warrant for the apprehension of Preggott.— Bmo- itreet, Novetnber 8. Weymouth, Dorset, who holds a warrant for his apprehen- sion.— Bow- street, November 3. FE^ UDS AND . AGGRAVATED MISDEMEANOURS.' < Description of a man who obtained 10s. and ad ark alpaca Umbrella in Lichfield, on the 2nd instant, by falsely representing hitnself as servant to a Mr. Howard, who had sent him to engage apartments: he gave the name of HENDERSON, is about 35 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, full red face, clean shaved, and daik hair, has an imperfection in the right eye, scar on left side of neck and of forehead; dressed in a long black frock coat, dark plaid trousers, black vest, and high black hat. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Hernaman, Lichfield, Staffordshire, who " holds a warrant for his apprehension.— — Bow- street, November 5. Description of a man who is charged with obtaining 14s. 2d. from Edward Hodson, at Cowbit, on the 28th uit. : 26 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, black hair, - whiskers, and moustache ; dressed in white guernsey, dark brown coat, blue serge trousers, blue woollen cap with peak, and strong lace- up boots, both patched; he is a native of Colsterworthy, Bedfordshire. Information to be given to Superintendent Leaper, County Police Spalding, Lincolnshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- slreet, November 5. MISCEX. S. AHKOUS SSPOaMATIOKS. Further information respecting URIAH HARPER and JOHN, alias WILLIAM WOOD, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 18th ultimo, charged with absconding from the Suffolk Reformatory, Thorndon: Harper has been appre- hended and committed for two months imprisonment; Wood is still at large, and is of the following discription : 15 years of age, 5 feet inches high, strong and ruddy appearance, has prominent blue marks on his fingers, cross swords, ' J.,' & c., slight blue mark back of left wrist, and slight rupture on right side ; dressed in corduroy jacket, vest, and trousers, marked ' Suffolk Reformatory,' and blue cloth cap ( home- made). The above boys parted company at Brent- wood, Essex, on the 18th ultimo ; Wood told Harper that he was going to Kate- street, Whitechapel, London, where he had some friends living; his parents reside at Harp- alley^' Farringdon- street. 10s. reward and all reasonable expenses will be paid for any infomation that will lead to his appre- hension. Information to be given to Inspector Vincent, Eye, Suffolk, - who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, November 10. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT. Stolen from a cottage at Ombersley, near Worcester, on the 3rd instant: between £ 4 and £ 6 in Gold and Silver Money, the property of Samuel Hodges. By a man, 22 years of age, 5 feet 3it inches high, fresh complexion, light brown hair, dark hazel eyes, pockmark on forehead, moles on right side of neck, and red birth mark on right arm; dressed in a new suit of dark cloth, monkey jacket, and hard round hat ; he occasionally works as a labourer. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Phillips, County Police Officea Worcester.— Bow street, November 10. Stolen from a bed- room at the Hook and Hatchet beer- house, Stanstead, Kent, during the night of the 9th ultimo, the property of William Watts : one blue- cloth Jacket with ' pockets on hips; one double- breasted Vest to match, with a pocket inside right breast; one pair dark mixture cloth Trousers, bell bottoms ; one white Cashmere Wrapper, with round red rings on it. He was convicted at Worcester on the 4th January, 1869, and sentenced to 7 years penal servitude, and was discharged from Parkhurst Prison on the 10th December, 1874.
