ItOtlce.— It is requested that all communications for the purpose of obtuining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolen property, may bear the Signature of the person requiring or tending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to- the Editor, Police Court, Bow Street, London, W. C. * » * Whenevor it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necsssary that an Information should be made and uworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all Letters addressed to the Editor Dinstbe prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. The Names and Descriptions of Deserters from the Army, and of Absentees and Deserters from the Militia, should bo forwarded on War Offico Forms 88 and 88A, to the Editor, as abovo, for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE. INFORMATIONS. MURDER AKD MALICIOUSLY WOUNDIKG, At 8' 20 a. m. on the 12th ultimo, an attempt was made to effcct a larceny at the residence of Mr. R. Turner, baker and - confectioner, 151, high- street, Borough ( private door iu King- street), by a man, who said he had come for some bread for the Cannon street Hotel, and while being served by the housekeeper, Jane Soper, he inflicted on her a wound with a life preserver, from the effects of which she died on the Cth instant, and a verdict of ' Wilful muider against some person unknown' was returned by the coroner's jury. The mau BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING, Stolen on the 25th instant, between 9 a. m. and 4 p. m., from a dwelling- house at Kinver Edge, Kinver- on- Stour- bridge ; the property of Mr. Edward Rollands, labourer : a small silver verge Hunting Watch, with gold hands, largo one broken ; a new dark mixture cloth Jacket, two poekets outside, two inside skirts, and cne breait; a black cloth Vest, nearly new ; a pair of dark brown corduroy Trousers, nearly new ; a white linen . Shirt, nearly new; a spotted cotton Handkerchief, much worn ; a white linen slop, nearly new ; and a pair of man's lace- up Boots, light make, nearly new. Entrance was effected by bursting open the door with a bar of iron which was left behind iu one of the bedrooms. Supposed stolen on the night of the 25th instant, from Ashdown Forest, in the parish of East Grinstead : a brown Mare, 8 years old, 14 hands high, star on forehead, saddle marked on both sides of back, long tail, near hind foot white, and has a small tum- ur behind the near shoulder. Informa- tion to be given to Superintendent Kennard, or at any Police Station in East Sussex Constabulary.— Bow- street, October 29. Supposed to have been stolen from Sheredicote, in the parish of Bradley, between the 13th and 14th instant: five Sheep, of the Shropshire breed, three wethers and two ewes, in good condition, the property of Mr. Geo. F. Moore. If stolen, a reward of £\ will be paid for the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders. Supposed stolen between 10 p. m. on the 16th and 4 p. m. on the 17th instant, from the farm premises of Mr. William Ward, near the Castle Mill, Buckingham : a half- bred cade Lamb, long tail, and in good condition. If stolen, £ 5 reward will be paid for information as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders. Between 12 p. m. on the 18th and 6 a. m. on the 19th inst. iraa - _ suspected is about 40 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9" inches high, loroad and muscular, with long arms, fair complexion, and slight moustache ; dressed iu black frock coat, black trousers, j p^' e Station, Hall Green, Lawton, Cheshire anil clean boots ; he was seen to come from St. George's Church, Borough, and turn into King- street, on the above- mentioned day ; he took with him a large door key, anil left behind false black whiskers about 7 ins. long, and moustache, and bad the appearance of a baker or waiter. £ 100 reward will be paid by Her Majesty's Government to any person who will give such information aud evidence as shall lead to the discovery aud conviction of the person who committed this crime ; and the Secretary of State for the Home Depart- ment will advise the grant of Her Majesty's most gracious pardon to any accomplice ( if any), not being the person actually striking the blow, who will give sueli evidence as shall lead to .1 like result ; and a further reward of .£ 100 will be paid by Mr. Turner in addition to that offered by Her Majesty's Government. Stolen from the Warren Hill Willey, Presteign, about the 1st instant : nine cioss- bred Ewes ( seven 2 yearn old and two yearlings), black faces, and long tails, the property of FELONIES. ( Not otherwise described). Absconded on the 2nil instant, charged with forgery : GEORGE RIMMELL, 52 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, dark complexiou, hair, and whiskers, aud chiu shaved ; he is a clerk, of respectable appearance, and recently resided at Rose- bank, Ballard's- lane, Finchley ; he frequents races pigeon shooting, & c. A warrant is issued.— Metropolitan Police, C Division, October 20. ROBBERY AMD LARCENY FRO&? THE PERSON. Description of two women charged with larceny from the person on the 8tli June last : ELIZABETH WHITE, a pedlar, born at Maidstone, 33 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, and pointed nose. And CATHERINE JONES, alias MARY ANN HAINES, 28 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, dark com- plexion, black hair and eyes, pockpitted, and moles on face ; she gave her address Frog- lane, Exeter, and lias lived at Dorchester. These women were committed for trial at the June Quarter Sessions, and were liberated on bail till the quarter sessions on the 19th instant, when they failed to appear, and the Recorder issued a warrant for their apprehension. Informa- tion to be given to Head Constable Pratt, City Police, Chichester. — Bow- street, October 29. Description of ROBERT SMITH, alias KENNEDY, a pitman or labourer, charged at Bewick- on- Tweed, with larceny from the person ; be is a native of Radcliffe Colliery, Northumberland, about 24 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, rather stout make, fresh complexion, brown hair, fair moustache, and hazel eyes. He absconded on the 5th instant. Between 7 and 9 p. m. on the 16th instant, the dwelling- Found, on the 12th instant, at Little Brickhill, Bucks, house of Mr. Edwin Bowler, of Burton- on- Trent, was broken supposed to have been stolen : a bay horse Pony, 4 or 5 years about 11 hands high, small white blaze down the face, thick set. black mane and long tail, hair very long about the shod all round, aud in good condition. Stolen during the night of the 15th instant, from a stable in Kennington Park- road: a dark grey Gelding, about 16 hands high, mottled with lighter marks on back, not quite sound in the wind, tail cut to hocks and rather rough.— — Metropolitan Polie, I' Division, October 20. Supposed stolen during the night of the 12th instant, from an orchard at Dunley, Stourport, Worcestershire, the property of George Partridge : a dark brown cob Horse, about 14 hands 1 inch high, a streak of white down the face, the mane short iu the middle, a substauce formed on the right hind foot, and in rather low condition. Information to be given to Superintendent Raby, Great Witley, Stourport, or to Sergeant Ganderton, Police Station, Stourport, Worcestershire.— Bow st/ eet, October 20. Found, supposed to have been stolen: a brown Horse, aged, about 14 hands high, bushy mane and tail, the latter plaited with straw ; saddle marked, and two scars on off hind leg, and iu good condition. Information to be given to Ser- geant Hammond, Shenstone, near Lichfield, Staffordshire. — , Bow- street, October 20. Supposed stolen on the nighi of the 10th instant, from Holtye, in the parish of Hirttield, Sussex : a dark brown Horse, from 13 to 14 hands high, aged, apparently blind in near eye, broken knees, ragged hips, off hind foot white, saddle marks on both sides of back, aud iu low [ condition. Information to be given to Superintendent Kennard, East Grinstead, or at any Police Station ia East Sussex.— Ew street, October 20. Stolen from a field at Bilston, about the 7* h instant: a bay cart Horse, 6 years old, 16 hands high, and has a white star on forehead. Also, from the same place, on the 13th instaDt: a brown- roan cart Horse, aged, 15 hands high, black legs, some small grey spots about the head, long tail and mane, and in good condition, the property of Mr. Mathias Dimmack, Bilston. Stoles from a field at Pixley, Herefordshire, abjut the Bowler'; and a Bottle of Port Wine. Stolen, by means of housebreaking, from a cottage at Bray, Berks ( supposed by a tramp) : a nearly bla: k cloth double- breasied Overcoat, black lining, pocket outside, aud nearly new ; a black cloth Jacket, black lining torn on the left side ; a black single- breasted Waistcoat; a pair of light cloth Trousers ; and a pair of cotton cord ditto ; also a grey Overcoat, velvet collar ; and a pair of dark cloth Trousers and Waistcoat, all to fit a youth 16 years of age ; also a dark cloth Jacket ( velvet collar), Trousers, and Waistcat, all to fit a boy 12 years of age. Information to be given to Superin- tendent Iremonger, Berks Constabulary, Maidenhead.— Bow- street, October 20. Between 11 p. m. 011 the 18th and 6 a. m. on the 19lh iustaut, the house of Mr. J. C. Hopkins, currier, Windsor, was broken aud entered, and stolen therein : 9 pairs of Long Soles, marked in pencil from 1 to 9 ; 23 pairs of Half Soles, marked in pencil from 1 to 13 ; a pair of new kid button Boots ; a pair of military Boots ; a pair of spring side Boots ; a dozen Balls of Hemp, marked ' Patent;' and a dozen pairs of women's Half Soles. Stolen during the night of the 21st instaut, from a field at Studley Common : a dark brown cob Horse, small head, thickly set, white mark on forehead, blind of near eye, and in good condition. Any one giving information which will lead to tl. e recovery of the Horse, aud couviction of the offender or offenders, shall receive £ 5 reward on application to Super- intendent Thomas, Alcester, Warwickshire. — Bow- street, October 29. Stolen from a field in the parish of Holy Cross, Shrews- bury, on the night of the 23rd instaut : a brown Horse, nearly thorough bred, aged, 15 hands 2 or 3 inches high, blind of left eye, lame of left fore- foot, and white hind feet. Absconded on the 16th instant, charged on a warrant with stealing 10 Prussian Lottery Bonds ; 10 Baden Ditto; and 10 Bavarian Ditto, together of the value of i' 500 : EMIL GLANZ a native of Germany, a clerk, late of 54, Elmore- road Isli'ngtou, 28 years o£ age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, dark hair and eyes, brown whiskers, moustache, aud beard, and florid complexion ; dressed in grey tourist suit, aud low ciowned hat. Absconded from Shrewsbury, charged with stealing a silver Geneva Watch, No. 2102, the inner case does not shut close • a brown cloth Overcoat ; and a very dark blue ditto, lined'with woolleu plaiJ : GEORGE EDWARDS, alias FRANCIS OWEN, a bricklayer's labourer, has been a soldier, about 24 years of age, 5 feet 7 iuches high, fresh complexion, black curly hair, slight moustache, uo whiskers, dark eyes, and has an impediment in his speech ; dressed iu white slop, fustiau trousers, grey tweed vest, blue striped cotton shirt, woollen muffler, of various colours, hard billy hat, aud strong nailed boots. Absconded from Woodchester, near Stroud, on the 22nd instant, charged with stealing two pairs of tweed Trousers ( one pair dark, the other light) and other articles : EDWARD NURDEN, about 2- 1 years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, dark curly hair, hazel eyes, sallow complexion, and scar on the side of his face; dressed in a shoit open white jacket or smock, old black vest, dark woolleu trousers, and black billycock hat ; he has served in the Royal Artillery ; and WILLIAM TAYLOR, 18 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, dark brown hair, and light complexion ; dressed in a short open white jacket or smock, old black vest, cord trousers, and black bowler hat ; he is a farm labourer, aud a native of Newent, Gloucestershire. Information to be given to Superintendent Hanbridge, Stroud, Gloucestershire, who holds a warrant for their apprehension.— Bow- street, Oct. 29. Stolen from a dwelling- house in Bolton, between the 13th and 16th instant: a lady's silver Geneva Watch, No. 8021, maker's name supposed to be Milner, Wigan ; and £ 2 13s. By a young woman who lodged at the house two nights : she is a German, about 20 years of age, 4 feet 10 or 11 inches high, rather stout build, full round face, and dark complexion ; dressed in black alpaca dress, rough blacs cloth jacket, tight- fitting, and trimmed with black bone buttons, white straw hat, trimmed with black velvet, aud elastic- side boots; she usual y carries a black satchel, and browu zenella umbrella, with white handle; ,-, he stated that she came from Onslow- square, Kensington. Information to be given to Chief Constable Beech, Bolton, Lancashire.— Bow- sireet, October 27. Stolen between land 2 am. on the 25th instant, from the house of Thomas robinson, master tailor, Saw^ ton, the property of Thomas Woollard, a journeyman, who lodged in the house : a rough long grey Great- coat, with black velvet collar ; a pair of dark check trousers ; a grey tweed Waist- coat, all in good condition ; a gold Geneva W. s. tch, gold dial and steel hands ; a gold albert Chain, has been broken ; a Half Sovereign ; and ' 4s. inSilver. By another journeyman who also lodged iu the house, he said he was a widower, aud belonged to Colchester: he is httween 35 and 40 ye. ars of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, dark complexion, high fore- head, dark hair and whiskers, hair a little curly ; dressed in a high white felt hat, with black band, and the stolen clothes, with a long black double- breasted jacket under the greatcoat. Information to be given to Superintendent Long, Police Station, Linton, Cainbs. — Bow- street, Oc'. dber 27. Description of two men who are suspected o£ committing several larcenies from dwelling- houses at St. Leonard's, as described iu the Police Gazette of the 25th instant: One about 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, fresh complexion, small red moustache, very small whiskers, full face, and good- looking; dressed in a grey tweed suit, and black deer- stalker hat. The other about 26 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, and small dark moustache; dressed in a dark suit, ard of smart appearance. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Glenister, Hastings, Sussex.— Bow street, October 27. Absconded from his bail, charged with stealing two copper Ingots, the property of the Midland Railway Company, at Ystradgunlais, on the 16th March last : ISAAC WILLIAMS, a blacksmith and fitter, 54 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, rather stout, ruddy complexion, sight of one eye defective, bald on crown of head, oval face, sears on left eye- brow and on both thumbs, his ear3 have been pierced for ring*, and he is badly ruptured on both sides ; he speaks English and Welsh, and i% a native of Llandilo, Carmar- thenshire. £•> reward will be paid by his sureties. Charged with stealing Meat from a slaughter- house at Ash, near Dartford, on the night of the 22ud iustant : a youth, about 17 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 iuches high, no whiskers or moustache, broad face, and full eyes ; dressed iu dark monkey jacket, black cord trousers, and cheese- cutter cap; he is a farm labourer, and a native of Ash ; and a man, about 24 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, and pock- marked ; drened iu monkey jacket, blue guernsey, dark trouseis, and cheese- cutter cap. Information to be given to Superintendent Fread, Kent Constabulary, Dartford.— Bow- street, October 25. Absconded from Bungay, Suffolk, about the 18th ultimo, charged with embezzling 10s. 8£ d., the monies of the trustees of the National Sick and Burial Association : BENJAMIN MADDER, of Bungay, tailor, about 36 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, swarthy complexion, black hair ami whiskers, beard and moustache recently shaved oft'; dressed iu a straight dark cloth overcoat, generally buttoned up at the neck, dark trousers, low black hat, and elastic- side boots. He was accompanied by his wife and 5 children, one of them a boy, about 10 years of age, is totally blind. He is sup- posed to be tramping from town to town, and working at his trade. Information to bo given to Inspector Foster, Suffolk Constabulary, Bungay, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, October 2t. Stolen in Ipswich on the 7th ultimo, a silver Watch I ( recovered) ; the property of George Fordham the younger. By SAMUEL HEWITT, an army pensioner, about 40 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, dark hair and moustache, and no whiskers ; dressed iu a dark cloth suit and black felt hat. Information to be given to Head Constable Mason, Police Office, Town Hall, Ipswich, Suffolk, who holds a war- rant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, October 25. The tramp who absconded from Maesmawr on the 13th instant ( as advertised iu the Police Gazette of the 15th inst.), has been apprehended and sentenced to 2 month's imprison- ment for stealing the Dog. He gives the name of JOHN EVANS, aud says he is a native of Bridgend, Glamorganshire, is 18 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, black hair, sallow complexion, and pockpitted; dressed in a bine moukey jacket, moleskin trousers, and cap. Information to be given to Police Constable Pearson, Caersws, Montgomeryshire.— Bow- street, October 25.
