Description of GEORGE WESTLEY, labourer and drover, of Burton Latimer, who absconded on the 21st inst., charged with stabbing Josiah Dent, at Burton Latimer, ou the 21st instant: 23 v ara of age, 6 feet !) inches high, fair complexion, very light hair, yery small whiskers, fresh look- ing, and very umi » ht; dr< itcd iu a short grey coat, cord j trousers, and soft black billycock hat. He may also have a dark greycoat with liiui, and be wearing an alpaca coat. ! Stolen from the porson during the Wolverhampton Races on the 9th and 10th instant: A silver verge Watch, No. 8134, maker ' Fletcher, London,' small finger brass, the other gold, and the second lost. A silver English lever Watch, No. 5839, and silver dial. And a silver lever Watch, No. 30036, secondhand. Information to be given to Chief Constable Segrave, Wolver- hampton.— Bow- street, September 15. BURGLARY AND hOUSE BREAKING. Stolen by burglary, on the 22nd instant, from Messrs. Steer and Adams, drapers, Brighton : nine sealskin Jackets, value .£ 100, each jacket has a label inside the collar, with ' Steer and Adams' on it. Information to be given to Chief Constable White, Brighton, Sussex. — Bow- street, September 24. On the night of the 19th instant, the house of Mr. Henry Charles Reed, in the borough of Kingston- upon- Hull, was broken and entered, aud stolen therein : a silver Geneva Watch, small size, No. 30518, with gold Guard, diamond cut pattern ; a black ribbed cloth Coat and Vest; a black cloth Coat, much worn ; a blue cloth Coat, collar torn ; a grey Scotch plaid mixture double- breasted Vest; an amber- coloured mixture Vest ; two common Brooches ; aud a claw pattern . meerschaum Pipe. £ 2 reward will be paid to any Bowl, with two handles ; six silver Forks, old pattern ; some odd silver Tea, Mustard, ar. d Salt Spoons; three Table Cloths, marked ' R.;' a moreen Tablecover, yellow silk flowered border, 3h yards long ; a black alpaca Coat; a blue cloth Overcoat, velvet collar; and some bottles of Wine, and Cigars. The dwelling- house of William Smith, of Frant, was broken and entered on the 13th instant, and stolen therein : a pepper- and- salt tweed Coat, two pockets outside with flaps, and one small one above the other on the right side, and a pair of dark tweed Trousers with light stripes ( both small men's size), and a blue silk Neckerchief, with black and white stripes, all nearly new ; a Half- sovereign aud about 15s. Supposed by tramps, who may be wearing the stolen property, as an old coat and trousers were left behind. Stolen from the person of a gentleman at the Railway Station, Doncaster, about 0 40 p. m. on the 17th instant: an English gold lever Watch, No. either 2080 or 20801, white enamelled sunk dial, centre seconds, and stopper. Two guineas reward will be paid on the recovery of the Watch, and conviction of tho offender or offenders. Stolen from the person at the Wisbech Statue, on the 15th instant: a silver lever Watch, No. 28597; and a £ 5 Note of Gurney and Co., No. 1972. Description of a man committed for trial at the quarter ' sessions for the county of Northampton, on the 20th proximo, on t four . charges of housebreaking: JOSEPH TOMLIN, of Cambridge, rivetter and leather cutter, 23 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, fair complexion, light hair, brown moustache,' no whiskers, scar on forehead and left hand, and mole on back ; dressed in black overcoat, with velvet collar and pockets at side, light check mixture cloth trousers and vest, light check necktie, high silk hat, and side- spring boots. He had in his possession when apprehended 4G skeleton keys and a jemmy. Information to be given to Superintendent Nor- man, Police Office, Towcester, Northamptonshire.— Bow- street, September 22. The dwelling- house of John Inings, of Common Wood, Holt, was broken and entered on the 16th instant, and the following articles stolen therein : a black cloth Coat and Vest, pockets outside ; a boy's grey Coat ; a Paisley scarf Shawl, with white centre ; a lady's grey waterproof Cloak ; two pairs of ladies' grey lambswool Stockings ; and a bunch of Keys, about eight in number. Two men of the following description, supposed to be tramps, are suspected : one about 35 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, dark complexion, and dressed in dark clothes ; the other about 25 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, light complexion, and dressed in Scotch cap with knob on the top, and dirty grey cloth clothes. Information to be given to Inspector Wilde, Police Station, Wrexham, Denbighshire — Bow- street, September 22. Between 12 and 6 p. m. on the 16th instant, the house of William Hope, Framfield, Sussex, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : a lady's black horse- hair watch Guard, with gold slides ; a gold Locket and small Knife attached ; a silver Thimbu ; a pair of gold Ear- rings ; a pair of black Bracelets ; a gold scarf Pin; a large silver Brooch, with four pebbles in centre ; about 15s. in silver and copper Monies ; a brown morocco Purse, containing silver and copper foieign Coins ; a pair of woman's black kid Gloves; a black jet watch Chain with silver Locket attached; a gold plated Brooch ; and a pair of new gold Ear- rings. Supposed by a man, 25 to 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, pale com- plexion, light hair, and a few light whiskers ; dressed in a dark coat and vest, light trousers, white shirt, dark cork hat, and light Balmoral boots: he was carrying a small bundle. Information to be given to Superintendent Peerless, Uckfield, Sussex, or at any Police Station in East Sussex.— Bow- street, September 22. Between 11 a. m. and 2 p. m., on the 15th instant, the dwelling- house of Henry Hutchenson, at Wartling, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : a silver lever W& tch, a small French gold Watcb, ' Paris' written inside, the inside is broken away from the case and has no glass; two black vulcanite Albert Chains ; a small Time- piece, taken out of the case, with a ring on top ; a single steel Bracelet, with broken silver clasp ; a silver Thimble ; and a pair of long old- fashioned gold Ear- rings. Supposed by a man 25 to 30 years of age, about 5 feet 6 inches high, and dark complexion ; dressed in a dark Jacket, grey trousers, and hard black hat. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Lewes, or to Superintendent Waghorn, Hailsham, or at any Police Station, in the East Sussex Constabulary,— Bom- street, September 20. Between 11 pin. on the 14th and 5a. m. on the 15tli inst., the dwelling- house of W. Redfern, Esq., Shermanbury Park, was broken into, and stolen therein : a Box, containing ten pairs of Dessert Knives and Forks, pearl handles ; a pair of silver Candlesticks ; an octagon silver Waiter ; a silver Sugar Bowl, marked ' M. C. a silver Cruet Stand and eight Bottles, old pattern, silver tops; two silver Pepper Tops off another cruet stand ; a silver Toast rack ; a silver Sugar Stolen from Greet, near Birmingham, on the 18th instant: two mare Ponies, the property of George Groves, of Hill- street, Birmingham : one is a grey ticked with black, abeut 12 hands high, has the letter ' J' burnt on the near hip, and is in good condition. The other a dark brown, about 12 hands high, aged, has large hocks, and slightly Bpavened. Information to be given to Superintendent Gallaway, Con- stabulary Office, Aston, near Birmingham.— Bow- st, Sept. 24. Description of a man charged with stealing a Horse ( recovered) : 35 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, daik com- plexion, hair ( partly bald), and whiskers ; dressed in a brown striped cutaway coat, light tight- fitting trousers, blue necker- chief with white spot, and carries a short cane ; a horse coper, and attends horse fairs, sales, & c.— Metropolitan Police, T Division, September 24. Stolen from a stable at Park Hill, Moseley, on the 20th instant: a chestnut half- bred Horse, 7 years old, about 15| hands high, white mark down face, and small white streak down libs on the near side; also a Saddle and Bridle, tearly new; the property of Mr. Joseph Nichols. Also, the same night, from King's Norton : a light red- roan van Horse, 15i Lauds high, rising 3 years old, high cheekbone on off side, and small side bone on one fore foot; and a dark brown cob Mare, 14 hands high, 5 years old, scar on each hock, and cut over right eye ; the property of Messrs. A. Jones and John Pope. Information to be given to Superintendent Humphries, Police Station, King's Heath., near Birmingham.— Bow- street, September 24. Stolen from a field in Wisbech, on the night of the 19th instant : a bright bay cart Mare, 7 years old, has an iron plate on the toe of one hind foot, and a small white star on forehead. Information to be given to Head Constable Sharpe, Wisbech, Isle of Ely.— Bow- street, September 22. Supposed to have been stolen, from the premises of Mr. Thomas Williams, of Lyonshall, on the night of the 14tU instant : a black half- bred aged Mare, in good condition, star on forehead, hazel eyes, has an old scar on right knee, and a little white on one fetlock. Information to be given to Superintendent Harwood, Hereford County Constabulary, Kington,— Bow street, September 22. Supposed to have been stolen, from Setterston, on the night of the 17th instant, the property of John Worthington, of Glynamel, Fishguard, Pembrokeshire : a powerful black Cob, 3 years old, 15 hands high, a narrow white blaze down the face, has been docked, and is in good condition. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent and Deputy Chief Constable Jones, or to Chief Constable Stokes, Constabulary Office, Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire.— Bow- street, Sept. 22. Stolen from Barnsdale, near Pontefract, Yorkshire, cn the night of the 19 th instant : an iron- grey Horse, 4 years old, 15 hands 1 inch high, carries the tail on off side when walking, and has . had a new shoe put on right fore foot, the property of John Parkin, farmer. Information to be given to Inspector Boshier, West riding Constabulary, Pontefact, Yorkshire.— Bote- street, September 22. Stolen from Hook Quay, Langum, on the 15th instant : a bay Horse, 10 years old, 16 hands high, white star on fore- head, white on off hind leg, steps awkwardly, throws forelegs across aud outwards when walking; was sold at Maenclochog Fair, the day after it was stolen, to a hawker of baskets travel- ling with a van, Information to be given to Chief Constable Stokes, Haverfordwest, ov to Inspector Clarke, Chief Con- stable's Offices, Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire.— Sm- itreet, September 22, Strayed from a field at Llangadog, Carmarthenshire, during the night of the 13th instant, the property of Mr. David Davies, Lampeter: an aged white Mare, between 13 and 14 hands high, rather short tail, and has a spavin in the hind legs. Information to be given to Superintendent Lloyd, Llandyssul, or to Sergeant Roberts, Lampeter, Car- marthenshire.— Bow- street, September 22. Description of a dark brown Horse, in the possession of the Northampton Borough Police: 7 years old, 15 hands high, short thick body, white star on forehead, long tail, black A 137 P O L I C E GAZETTE. September 24 legs, hind fetlocks white, and a few grey hairs on near side of hind quarters. The horse is supposed to have been stolen by a man, about 35 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, slight build, pale complexion, dark whiskers, and has a cast iu one eye ; dressed in a dark grey suit, and black billycock hat. Information to be given to Chief Constable Keenan, North- ampton.— Bow- street, September 20. Found at Clipston, supposed to have been stolen : a dark grey or blue roan cart Horse, aged, about 15 hands high, in good condition, black switch tail, and black mane, white hind heels, and broken winded. Information to be given to Inspector Tye, Police Station, Little Bowden, Market Har- Isorough, Northamptonshire.— Bow- street, September 20. Stolen from a field at Haxey on the 13th instant: a brown Mare ( recovered) by THOMAS GREY, a tramping labourer, and mends chairs : about 30 years of age, 5 ft. 5 or 0 inches high, has blotches on face, and a little whiskers round face, and stoutly built ; dressed in dark clothes, either a cord or dark grey groom's jacket, black billycock hat, and wears clogs. He is bowlegged and carries his arms bent. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Sowden, County Police Station, Epworth, Rotherham, Lincolnshire, who holds a war- rant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, September 17. Supposed stolen from a field in the parish of Claverton, on the night of the 5th instant: a chesnut Horse, about 15 hands high, aged, broken knees, blind in near eye, and white star on forehead. £ 1 reward will be paid on convic- tion of the thief. TURNLEY, charged with stealing a quantity of Hemp on the 28th ultimo ; the property of the Hull Dock Company : about £ 30 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, slender make, dark brown straight hair, whiskers, and moustache, rather round shoulders, fresh complexion, and lost one front tooth; dressed in a dark mix- ture suit and billycock hat £ 10 reward has been offered for his apprehension. Information to bo given to Chief Con- stable Cook, Chief Constable's Office, Hull, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, September 24. Description of THOMAS PEARSON, carpenter, who absconded from Whittington Inn, Kinver, on the 20th inst., charged with stealing a cash Box, containing £ 25, and a Post Office Bank Book : he is about 35 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, slender build, light complexion, small whiskers, light brown hair, long thin face, with dent ou left side of his nose. Information to be given to Inspector McCrea, Tettenhall, Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, who holds • warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, September 24. Stolen from New Shoreham, on the 17th instant: a Russian leather Purse, containing £ 13 15s. Id., the property of Mrs. Sarah Garwood. By a fashiouably dressed female, who gave the name of BERTRAM, about 23 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, fair complexion, light auburn hair, worn in one plait down the back, and slightly pockpitted ; dressed in pink and drab striped skirt, pink body, black silk apron aud sash, black silk jacket, with open sleeves, black felt hat, trimmed with mauve silk, a fashionable broad silver neck lace and a broad riug on her finger, with three or four dark stones in it; she carried a violet coloured bag, with steel clasp. Sho was traced to Brighton, where she purchased a drab felt costume, with mimic ball fringe, aud a waterproof mantle. Information to be given to Superintendent Parnell, West Sussex Constabulary, Steyning, or to Sergeant Silvester, Police Station, Shoreham, Sussex, who holds a warrant for her apprehension.— Bow- street, September 21. Absconded on < he 28th ultimo, from Pall Mall, stealing £ 1,100: OTTO WEATHERHEAD, late clerk in the Cheque Bank : 25 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, freckled complexion, brown hair, whiskers, and beard, and slight brown moustache, slightly projecting teeth iu upper JAW, aud had with him a portmanteau and a hat boy. Warrant issued. Information to be given to Superintendent Williamson, Detective Department, Grsat Scotland Yard.— Bow- street, September 24. Stolen from Shorncliffe Camp, by JAMES CUMMINS, alias MILES BURKE ( in custody on another charge), and disposed of between Shorncliffe Camp and Newport, Salop, between the 13th and 28th July last: a gentleman's plain open face gold Watch, chased back, maker's name Mimpriss, St. James's- street, London. Information to be given to Superintendent Dewar, Police Station, Seabrook, Sandgate, Kent.— Bow- street, September 22. Abseonded from Middlesborough on the 18th instant, charged with stealing £ 20 : a man about 40 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, sallow complexion, thin face, pro- portionate build, brown hair, whiskers, and moustache dressed in old cloth coat and vest, old moleskin trousers, and cloth cap; he is a mill furnaceman, a native of Rhymney, Monmouthshire, and is of drunken habits. Information to be given to Chief Constable Saggerson, Middlesborough, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, ( September 22. Description of CHRISTINA M'KENZIE, charged with theft, and a native of Edinburgh : about 26 years of age, 4 feet 11 inches high, oval face, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eye3, and small nose ; is a returned convict, having been liberated from the General Prison, Perth, on the 5th Novem- ber, 1874, on a license which is still current. Information to be given to Robert Laidlaw Stuart, Esq, Procurator- Fiscal, Edinburgh, or to the Superintendent of the Edinburgh City Police.— Bow- street, September 22. Stolen on 20th inst., from'a public- house at Stamford, pro- perty of A. Marsh : a blue pilot Jacket, daik bone buttons, a blue pilot double- breasted Vest, four buttons on each side ; a pair of moleskin Trousers; two pairs of Socks, one red and brown, the other grey, with white toes; a black and white striped Necktie ; a dark cloth Cap ; and a pair of Clogs. By a lab ourer, about 25 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, slim, pockpitted, scar on one cheek, small mouth, light hair, and smooth face; supposed to be wearing the stolen property. Information to be given to Superintendent Ward, Police Office, Stamford, Lincolnshire.— Bow- street, September 22. Absconded on the 14th instant, stealing £ 19, the monies of his employer : a man 21 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, fair complexion, dark hair, and small moustache ; dressed in dark blue coat, trousers and vest, black and blue striped necktie, white straw hat, and side- spring boots. Supposed to have gone to Liverpool.— Metropolitan I'olice, K Division, September 20. Stolen on the 29th ultimo, from a house at Formby : a £ 20 Bank of England Note, and about £ 40 in Sovereigns and Half sovereigns ; the property of John Flynn, hawker. By an Irish lad, who is about 17 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, and brown hair ; dressed in a grey Irish tweed suit, late- up boots with iron tips on heels, billycock hat, and white linen jacket; he plays on the flute or fife, which he carries with him. He states that his father is a farmer in the parish of Annydon, County Galway, Ireland. Informa- tion to be given at the County Police Office, Ormskirk, Lanca- shire.— Bow- street, September 17. Stolen on the 13th instant, from Ellen- street, White- chapel: two open- face silver Geneva Watches: two lady's gold finger Rings— one paste and one green stones ; and a gold Locket. By a man 24 years of age, 5 feet 6| ins. high, dark complexion, scars from burns on right cheek and back of head ; dressed in dark tweed coat and vest, and military trousers, and billycock hat. He was on furlough from the 7th Foot stationed at Warley.— Metropolitan Police, H Divi- sion, September 17. Stolen during the night of the 14th instant, from the Bull Inn, Limpsfield, Surrey : an old- fashioned large open- faced silver Watch, makers Fowle and Son, East Grinstead with a brass Chain, brass Keys, and Seal with blue stone attached ; also a light- coloured cord Waistcoat, without sleeves. By a man known as TUNBRIDGE, who works with threshing machines: about 30 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, full face, light complexion, hair, aud moustache tattooed on the arm ; dressed in a short slop and cheesecutter cap. Information to be given to Superintendent Murtell, Surrey Constabulary, Godstone.— Bow- street, September 17. Absconded from his lodgings at Bilston, on the 13th instant, charged with stealing a pair of Boots ( since recovered) an excavator, about 32 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high dark hair and complexion ; dressed in moleskin trousers with buttons at bottom of legs, blue cloth vest, white twilled slop, blue striped shirt, black billycock hat, and lace- up boots with the shape of a heart stitched iu front.
