The dwelling- house of William Smith, of Frant, was broken and entered on the 13th instant, and stolen therein : a pepper- and- salt tweed Coat, two pockets outside with Saps, and one small one above the other on the light side, and a pair of dark tweed Trousers with light stripes ( both small men's size), and a blue silk Neckerchief, with black aud white stripes, all nearly new ; a Half- sovereiga and about 15s. He is bowlegged aud carries his arms bent. Supposed stolen from a field in the parish of Claverton, on the night of the 5th instant : a chesnut Boise, about 15 hands high, aged, broken knees, blind iu near eye, and white star on forehead. £ 1 reward will be paid on convic- tion of the thief. Stolen from a field at Lirk Hill Farm, Long Newton, during the night of the 8th instant: four red two- years old off, one roan aud the other red three years old; the property of Mr. Isaac Day. Stolen from a field at Franks Farm, Horton Kirby, between the 24th ultimo and 10th instant: a Hampshire Down Ewe Sheep, marked ' W. II.' in a circle on near side. Description of HENRY MAYO, a return convict, who absconded from Lechlade, Gloucestershire, on the 17th ult., charged with stealing an Ass, the property of Charles Winfield : he is 22 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, fresb complexion, brown hair, grey oyes, scar on head, foiehead, and chest, scar and tattoo marks on left thigh, left arm, and hand, ' H.' on left middle finger, unicorn, mole, and scar ou right arm, small light whiskers and moustache, short neck, and carries his head forward ; dressed in grey or dark cloth monkey jacket aud trousers, with patch on each knee. Bell, Police Station, Lechlade, Gloucestershire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— — Bow- street, September 10. Found ( supposed stolen) at Blymhill, near Shifnal, Salop, on the 8th instant: an aged dark brown hackney Mare, about 15 hands high, in good condition, black legs, long tail, white hair on both sides of back, and scarou off knee. By an Irish lad, who is about 17 year s of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, aud brown hair; dressed in a grey Irish tweed suit, late- up boots with iron tips on heels, billycock hat, and white linen jacket; be plays ou the flute or fife, which he carrier with him. He states that his father is a farmer in the parish of Annydon, County Galway, Ireland. Informa- tion to be given at the County Police Office, Ormskirk, Lanca- shire.— Bow- street, September 17. Stolen on the 13th instant, from Ellen- street, White- chapel : two open- face silver Geneva Watclies : two lady's gold finger Rings— one paste and one gi'een stones; and a gold Locket. By a man 24 years of age, 5 feet 6J ins. high, dark complexion, scars from burns on right cheek and back of head ; dressed in dark tweed coat and vest, aud military trousers, and billycock hat. He was on furlough from the 7th Foot stationed at Warley.— Metropolitan Police, II Divi- sion, September 17. Stolen during the niglit of the 14th instant, from the Bull Inn, Litnpsfield, Surrey : an old- fashioned large open- • faced silver Watch, makers Fowle and Sou, East ( Jrinstead, with a brass Chain, brass Keys, and Seal with blue stone attached; also a light- coloured cord Waistcoat, without sleeves. By a man known as TUNBRIDGE, who works with threshing nachines : about SO years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, full face, light complexion, hair, and moustache, tattooed on the aim ; dressed in a short slop and cheesecutter cap. Absconded from his lodgings at Bilston, on the 13th instant, charged with stealing a pair of Boots ( lince recovered): au excavator, about 32 years of age, 5 feet G inches high, daik hair and complexion ; dressed in moleskin trousers with buttons at bottom of legs, blue cloth vest, white twilled slop, blue striped shirt, black billycock bat, and lace- up boots with the shape ot a heart stitoln- d iu front. Stolen from a dwelling- house iu Bolton, on the 8th inst.: a slate- coloured stuff Skirt, trimmed with black braid and three tucks ; and an Umbrella. By a young woman, about 20 years of age, light complexion, full face, 4 feet 8 inches higb, medium make, light hair, brushed back, rather respectable looking, twitches oue side of her mouth ; dressed in long black stuff jacket, with pannier behind, black dress, a red, blue, black, aud white striped woollen shawl, white straw hat, turned up at one side, and trimmed with black ribben or velvet; she stated that she had come from York- shire, and that her parents were dead. Description of THOMAS WEST, charged with stealing on the 14th instant, from No. 7, Cambridge- street, Tunbridge Wells : an old wa « h- leather Purse, containing i 13 10s. in Gold and 5s. in Silver : about 24 years of age, 6 feet 1 inch high, light complexion, brown curly hair, long neck, and carries his bead a little on one side ; dressed in brown tweed - coat, check trousers, worn cut at bottoms, elastic- Bide Loots, and bard felt black hat. He has been at sea aud is the sau of a letired army captain. Information to be given to Head Constable Embery, who holds a warrant for his apprehension. Description of GEORGE SWIFT, convict license- holder No. 2564, who has failed to report himself at Gieasbrough, Rotlierham, aud has left the reighbourhood : 60 years of age, 5 feet 5J inches high high, fair complexion, grey eyes and hair, scar on bridge of nose, red mark on left shoulder, scar on outside of left arm, two scars on back, and scar on right elbow ; a labourer, native of Yorkshire, aud resided last at Greasbrough. He was convicted at the Sheffield Sessions on the 29th November, 1869, of larceny, and sentenced to seven years penal servitude and seven years police supervision. No. 10216, discharged from Dartmoor Prison on the 26th ultimo, has neglected to report himself as required by the Prevention of Crimes Act, 1871, to the police at Macclesfield : he is 52 years of age, 5 feet 8J iuches high, dark brown hair, sandy beard, grey eyes, fresh complexion, has a bent nose, cut on lower lip, lost of right forefinger and two upper teeth, scar on bend of left arm, left wrist, each left finger, right thumb and middle finger, ' D.' and scar on left side, iuole and flogging scars on back, left little finger bent, wound on left shin, and two moles on right shoulder ; he was convicted at Chester Assizes of burglary, and sentenced to 7 years penal servitude. Description of convict licence holder No. 9578, ALFRED TALBOT, who failed to report himself to the police at Old Hill, Rowley, before leaving the district on the 4th instant : 36 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, and has figures of wild animals round both legs above the knees. On the 4th March, 18C9, he was sentenced to 7 years penal servitude at Stafford Assizes for housebreaking, and was discharged from Portland Prison on the 4th March, 1875. B,' two auchors, blue spot, ' W.,' and a heart on left arm, ' W. B.' two hearts, an anchor, ' B. & D.,' four small dots, and a cross, all on back of left hand ; was convicted at Haverfordwest for housebreaking, and sentenced to 7 years penal servitude on the 19th October, 1869, and liberated from Milbank Prison, on license, on the 29 th May last. Also of HENRY DICKENSON, a convict on license, Reg. No. 86, who has failed to report himself : convicted at Lewes on the 18th October, 1869, and sentenced to 7 yeara penal servitude and 7 years supervision, for stealing; libe- rated from Bor. tal Prison on license on 11th May 1875 ; 41 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, fair complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, and his nose turns to the left. He was liberated from Salop County Gaol on the 16th July last, JAMES WATSON, Reg. No. 1005, a convict on licence, who has changed his residence without notifying the same to the police : he is 61 years of age, 5 feet iuchts high, fresh complexion, grey eyes, bald head, scar back of right leg, back of neck, and on left side of forehead; he was convicted at Bury St. Edmund's, on the 20th March, 1871, and sentenced to 5 years penal servitude, for larceny, and was discharged on the 14th June last; he left Hull about the 28th ultimo.
