INFORMATIONS. MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. A - warrant is issued for the apprehension of THOMAS MAGSON, who was released from custody at Kii by Moor- - sidej on the 21st in3t » nt, on his own recognizance to appear before tho Justices ou tho £ uth instant and absconded, charged with maliciously wounding Mr, Richard Bramall, schoolmaster, Nunnington, on the night of the 16st instant: he is 42 years of age, 5 feet 11 finches high, grey eyes, dark brown hair fresh complexion ^^ H- sandy- bcnrrl, wbisitrrf, and moustache, thin features, and slender make ; he is a native of Nunniugton, which place he left on the morning of the 25th instant, and took train at Hovingham Northward ; was dressed in brown clotb coat and vest, fustian trousers, and black billycock hat; had with him a guano bag, contain- ing wearing apparel; he has worked at Middlesbrough, Stockton, and Hartlepool, at iron Works, ship yards, & c. Information to be given to Inspector Milner, North Riding Constabulary Office, Kirby Moorside, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, August 27. About 7 p. m. ou the 17th instant, the dead Body of a newly- born female Child was found in the Trent and Mersey Canal at Shobnall, near Burton- on- Trent: the body was wrapped in black stuff and calico tightly bound, it was much swollen and had a brick tied to it, and appeared to have been in the water ten cr twelve days. At the coroner's inquest a verdict of ' Wilful murder' was returned against some person or persons unknown. Information to be given to Superin- endent Bowen, Burton- on- Trent, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, August 25. stout built, ancl has tlio appearance of a tramp or harvest- man ; dressed in cord trousers, torn at the knee*, white smock or jacket, hairy cap, no stockings, and old boots. Charged with stealing from the person of Miss Rachel Braidwood, in a field in Willaston, Cheshire, on the 21st instant, a brown twilled Umbrella, plain handle, the ferrule is off the bottom of the stick: JOHN CLARK, about 31 years of age,. about 5 feet 9 inches high, sallow complexion, brown eyes, brown liair, small dark whiskers, and rather stout build ; dressed in a dirty white slop, davk trousers and cap; he has worked as a labourer in the steel works in Crowe, aud has also worked as a collier in Staffordshire ; he is supposed to have gone to the Potteries. Information to be given to Superintendent Saxton, Nantwicb, or to Iuspectbr Morris, Crewe, Cheshire, who holds a warrant for his appre- hension.— Bow- street, Auqmt 27. Description of a man charged with stopping Ann Boynton on the highway near Bedale, on the 22nd instant, and demanding money : from 50 to 55 years of: age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, dark complexion, dark hair and whiskers, stout figure ; dressed in cord trousers, torn at knees, white smock or jacket, hairy cap, old boots, aud no stockings. Stolen from a field at Pentreclwyd, Glyn Neath, during tbe night of the 3lst, ultimo : a light bay Mare, 6 years old, about 15 hands high, white face, hind feet white, and a lump on o ne liipd leg near the hock, the property of Thos. Stolen on tho night of the 28th ultimo, from Leighton, near Welshpool: a grey mare Pony, 10 years old, about 14 hands high, large mane, rather large head, small black mark under the saddle, and in very good condition, the property of J. Naylor, Esq. Information to be given to Police Constable Thomas, Butlington, or to Superintendent Ellis, Monmouthshire Constabulary, Welshpool.— Bow- street, September 3, Stolen from St. Mary Hill Fail-, Glamorganshire, on tbe 2Clh ultimo, a mare Pony and Colt: the Mare is about 4 years old, chestnut colour, white streak down the forehead, mane a little lighter than the body, the part near the ears is shorter than the b( ick part, the tail is cut square and long, short legs, stout build, full iu centre of back, saddle mark on shoulder, and very quite; the Colt is about 15 weeks old, dark brown colour, with small head, dark brown mane and tail with a few grey hairs, and one hind leg is supposed to have a white fetlock. Stolen from a field at Moseley, near Birmingham, during the night of the 2tiih instant : a handsome dappled strong half- bred grey Marc, about 16 bands high, and 5 years old, the properly of Mr. S. Description of ELIZABETH BEVANS, a boatwoman, who is charged with stealing a boat Horse.,( since recovered), the property of Joseph Davies, of " Runcorn : sjie is about 40 years of age, 5 feet high, rather slender, slightly pock- pitted in the face, and liaa a blue mark about an inch long over the right eye ; dressed in black dress and grey shawl; she is of drunken habits, and id well known on the canal at Derby, Wolverhampton, Stafford, and Runcorn. Stolen from the person at Chester Road Railway Station, near Sutton Coldfield, on the 31st ultimo : an English lever Watch, moderate size, engiue- turued, worn smooth at back of outside case, capped and jewelled, gold hands, No. 9383, maker's name ' Johnson, Darlington,' ou plate. Stolen from the person on Oxford Race Course, on the 19th instant: a gold English lever Watch, No. 27497. Stolen from the person, in York, during the 24th, 25tb, and 26th instant: A gold lever Watch, gold dial, ' 6teel hands, chased back, rose and spade engraved thereon, the rose embossed at the edges, outer case 18 carat gold, brass dome, No. 96710. A gold Lever, plain cases, white dial, gold hands, centre seconds, maker's name ' W. H. Whalley, Blackburn,' No. 966, ' John Thompson,' engraved on inside of outer case, aud ' J. Bow- street, August 30, Description of a man charged with highway robbery near Bedale, Yorkshire, on the 22nd instant]: 50 to 55 years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, dark hair and whiskers, Between 12 p. m. and 6 a. m. of the 27th instant, the dwelling- house of Elizabeth Page, 12, Shornden- villa, St. Leonards, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : a fancy leather Work Bag, an old small Pocket Book; a Half- crown, George IT, 1746 ; a Shilling, George If, 1768 ; a Farthing of the reign of King Charles, a small gold Coin, a gold Thimble, a silver Coin, aud a German Coin. Also, during the same night, the dwelling- house of C. L. Smith, 10, Shornden- villa, was broken and entered and stolen therein : six metal Tea Spoons, a Carving Fork, three Table Knives, a pair of man's half Boots, and a black Mackintosh Coat. Description of ALFRED SWAINE, who is a charged with breaking into the dwolling- houso Of his father John Swaiue, at Willingham- by- Stowe, on the 30th ultimo. ai » d stealing therein one pair of fustian Trousers, one black Russell cord Coat, one. white Slop, and one rush Bass ; about 28 years of ago, 5 feet 8 or 9 iuches high, round face, sun- burnt, dark brown hair, email light whiskers and moustache; and a very low forehead ; bas an anchor tattooed on his right wrist, and bas served iu the Royal Marines ; dressed iu white slop, black cord trousers, brown cloth cap, turned up at sides and tied up with strings at the top, and strong liice- up boots. He has two relations employed ou tho railway at Lincoln, where he was last heard of, and left for Nottingham, where ho had previously resided. Absconded ou the 20th ultimo, from Leeming, in the North Riding of Yorkshire, charged with stealing £ 3 4s. 6d. from a dwelling- house where he had been lodging for fortnight: a man about 30 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high dark complexion, dark brown hair, moustache, and imperial, very slender figure, a nalive of London, and a fitter ; dressed in a pepper- and- salt- coloured coat aud trousers, blue vest, black stiff billycock hat, and light shoes. Information to be given to Superintendent Alderson, Lejburn, or to Inspector Spence, North Riding Constabulary, Bedale.— Bow- street, September 3. Charged with stealing a silver Watch and Appendages ( recovered); a new calico Shirt with linen front, and a pair of Wellington Boots, receutly soled, and which ho is supposed to bj wearing, the properly of William Parfitt, of Glutton : JAMES PEARSON, about. 20 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, light complexiuii, light brown hair, no whiskers; dressed sometimes in Scptoh cap, at others iu a round imita- tion sealskin cap with ear- flips tied over crown, pepper- and- salt- coloured coat with hip pockets, brown cloth vest with palo pink spots, and light grey trousers, all much worn. He stated that lie was a painter, but has been working as a farm labourer; his correct iwmc is supposed to be JOSEPH BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. i Between 9 a. m. and 12.15 p. m. on the 28th ultimo, the dwelling- house of William Perry, labourer, of Badenball, in- ibe parish of Eccleshall, was broken And entered, and stolen therein : a pair of lace- up Boots, recently soled ; two cotton Shirts, one nearly new ; a pair of black cloth Trousers, ntarly new ; a pair of dark grey Trousers; a pair of light cord Trousers; a woollen plaid Shawl, small size, black, red, and white ; three silk Handkerchiefs, a fox's head in centre of one, with green and red plaid, one with yellow and green ; and 19s. in Silver. Supposed by a man, abcrut 22 years of age, about 5 feet 8 inches high ; dressed in a black sammy hat, dark jacket, light cord trousers, aud heavy lace- up boots. He was traced to Stoke iu the potteries. Informa- tion to be given to Superintendent Crisp, Stone, or to Sergeant Hall, Police Station, Eccleshall, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, Scptembir 3. The dwelling- house of Mr. Solomon Fellows, of Ettingshall, near Bilston, was broken aud entered between 11 p. m. on the 29th and G a. m. on the " 30th ultimo, and stolen therein : two black cloth Jackets, ' Phillips, Queen- street, Wolverhampton,' stamped on collar strap ; a black and white tweed Jacket; a lady's grey waterproof Cloak ; a dark groy waterproof Overcoat ; a white silk Pocket- hand- kerchief, with blue border; a light- coloured ditto, with flowered border ; a pair of lady's elastic- side kid Boots, with caps on toes ; two pairs of men's elastic- side Boots, recently tapped ; a dark woollen Shawl, with puce border, some of the fringe oil'; an eight- day Timepiece, gilt; and a ' Little Belle' Sewing Machine. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent McCrea, Police Office, Bilston, Staffordshire. — Bow- street, September 3. Stolen by means of housebreaking, in York, on the night of the 25th instant: a pair of gold Ear- rings, carbuncles iu centre, surrounded with garnets; a jet aud piuk cameo Brooch and Ear- rings; and a circular silver Brooch, set with Derbyshire spar. Absconded from Brown- street, Salisbury, on the 1st inst, charged on a warrant with stealing £ 7 in Gold : a blue cloth monkey Jacket, trimmed with black braid, pockets on hips, one inside breast pocket, velvet collar ; a black cloth cutaway Coat, pockets on hips, one inside breast pocket ; a double- breasted dark mixture cloth Vest; and a pair of dark mixture cloth Trousers : EARNEST THOMPSON, a painter, about 28 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, dark hair, small whiskers ; dressed in daik clothes, black felt hat, or in the stolen clothes. Information to bo given to Head Constable Mathews, City Police Office, Salisbury, Wilts, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, September 3. Stolen on the 24th instant, from Wimpole- street, Mary- lebone : nine pairs of silver enamelled Solitaires ; thirteen silver enamelled Lockets ; seventeen silver enamelled Bracelets, ail inlaid with gold, and stamped ' L. & V., patent,' By a man, 35 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, dark com- plexion and hair; dressed in black coat, and high hat, and of respectable appearance. — Metropolitan Police, D Division, August 30. Stolc- n from Newmarket, on the 20th instant : a pair of lace- up watertight Boots, in good condition, with steel heel- tips. By a tramping blacksmith, from 35 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, very stout, full face, clean shaved, and short hair ; dressed in brown cap with earlaps and mixture coat, and had on a leather apron split up the middle ; he left Newmarket on the 23rd instant, wearing the boots ; he woiked at his trade in the Crimea during the Russian war, and is supposed to be a native of Wiltshire. Information to be given to Superintendent Benson, New- market, Cambs.— Bow- street, Auqust 30. Absconded on the 22nd instant, from Brookhouse, Denbigh, charged with stealing £ 10 in Gold and a pair of light watertight Boots, with brass eyelet- holes and hooks at the top, the property of John Williams: JOSEPH PRINGLE, a labourer, about 10 years of age, 5 feet 1 or 2 inches high, light sandy hair, sunburnt face, is supposed to be a native of Edinburgh, and speaks with a Scotch accent ; dressed in an old cloth jacket and vest, the jacket sleeves very short for him and had been recently repaired, dark cloth trousers, and Scotch cap, with long ribbons hanging behind ; he is supposed to be wearing the stolen boots, as he left an old pair behind him, and will probably seek employment with market gardeners or at nurserieH. Information to bo given to Superintendent Tudge, Police Ofiice, Denbigh, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, August 27 Stolen from a dwelling- house in Wigan, on the 10th instant : a blue beaver Overcoat, with black velvet collar, two pockets outside and one outside on each breast, lined with red and black woollen plaid, whico pearl buttons, and nearly new ; a double- breasted Scotch tweed shooting Coat, two pockets outside and a ticket pocket, aud one inside left breast, lined with bluck BtuflfJ" quite new ; and a small tweed Vest, to tit a boy about 14 years of age. By JAMES DEARDEN STONE, about 35 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, dark hair, small whiskers and moustache, swarthy complexion, rather small eyes, round shouldered, turns his feet out, and of respectable appearance; supposed dressed iu black clothes and black billycock hat lie said be had been a railway clerk to the Railway Company at Barrow- in- Furness, and other places. A warrant has been issued for his apprehension. Information to bo given to Chief Con- stable Williams, Police Office, Wigau, Lancashire.— Bow- street, Auqust 27. Absconded from Barnard Castle, on the 22nd instant, charged with stealing 9 stones of Lead Pumping, recovered, from Stratforth, North Riding of Yorkshire, the property of Thomas Wilhum, Esq., of Lavtington Hall: JAMES HANNON, labourer, native of Barnard Castle, Durham, 20 years of age, 5 feet 0 inches high, fresh complexion, rather sunburnt, grey eyes, brown hair, cut short, very little hair on face, and proportionate figure ; generally dressed in an old brown coat, moleskin trousers, and velveteen cap; he has been in the South Durham Militia ; may seek for employ- ment as a labourer on public works, & c. Information to be given to Superintendent Gregory, Ri- hmond, or to Inspector Park, North Riding Constabulary, Greta Bridge.— Bow- street, August 27. FRAUDS AND AGGRAVATED MISDEMEANOURS. Description of WILLIAM GRIFFIS, who is charged with obtaining £ 35, by false pretences : 35 years of age, 5 feet 9i inches high, grey eyes,, dark brown hair, slight build, pockmarked, slight moustache, no whiskers, tattooed on left hand, on which he generally wears a glove, and has been shot through the left leg; dressed well, generally in dark suit, light hat, and sometimes a light overant. He is well acquainted with the fruit and potatoe trade, is a nativo of Totnes, has a lelative living at Penzance, from which place he has been sending fruit and potatoes to several parts of England. Ho has a woman with him, about 23 yea^ s of ago, and rather good looking. Information to be given to Chief Constable Poyntz, Borough Police Station, Notting- ham, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, September 3. Charged on a warrant with obtaining £ 5, on the 29th July last, from Charles Lane, by false pretences: LOUIS GILLMAN, 21 years of age, 5 feet 5 iuches high, grey eyes, dark complexion, rather curly dark brown hair, very short whiskers and moustache : respectably dressed ; is a Russian, but speaks English very well.
