Information to be given to Superintendent Dunn, County Constabulary Office, Durham, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, August 18. Information to be given to Chief Constable White, Brighton, Sussex.— Bow- street, August 11. Stolen from the person of Samuel Carton, on the 5th instant, in the ' White Horse Inn,' at Great Driffield : a wash leather Bag, containing £ 7 15s. in Gold and Silver. By three men, one who is in custody In custody : THOS. FOSTER, 22 years of age, 5 feet li inches high, pale com- plexion, grey eyes, brown hair, and slender figure; dressed iu dark coat, grey trousers, light boots, aud felt hat. At large : one 22 years of age, slender figure ; dressed in white smock, under dark coat, and felt hat ; and the other 23 years of age, slendtr figure, and dark clothes. Information to be given to Superintendent Harper, East Riding Constabulary, Great Driffield, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, August 11. FORGERY. Description of a man of gentlemanly appearance, dressed as a clergyman, who called at the shop of Mr. Roberts, music- seller, High- street, Windsor, on the 29th ultimo, and obtained £ 23 by means of a forged Cheque for £ 50, on Gurney & Co., Halesworth Bank. He stated that he was a friend of, and staying at Mr. Pearl's, High- street, and represented himself to be the Rev. H. F. Gill, Vicar of Warfield. He purchased a pianoforte and a concertina, and received £ 23 as change. He is about 38 or 40 years of age, dark complexion, rouud face, very short nose, and about 5 feet 9 inches high. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Cooper, Police Station, Windsor, Berks.— Bow- street, August 11. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROm THE PERSON. Stolen from the person on the 11th instant: a gold oval- shaped Locket, has a twisted ring rouud the outer edges, chased, and opens into two compartments. Information to be given to Head Constable Oglethorpe, Police Station, Preston, Lancashire.— Bow- street, Angus'. 16. Stolen from the person whilst travelling from London to Preston, on the 11th instant: a brown leather Pocket- book, with elastic band, containing £ 125 or £ 145 in Bauk of England Notes, consistiug of two £ 20 notes, and the remainder in £ 10 and £ 5 Notes; also four or six blank Cheques, on the Irongate Branch of the City of Glasgow Bank. Information to bo given to Head Constable Ogle- thorpe, Borough Police, Preston, Lancashire.— Bow- street, August 13. Stolen from the person at Lewes Races, on the 6th and 7th instant: A single- case silver engine- turned Geneva Watch, with the initials ' J. W.' on outside case. A brown leather Russia leather Cigar Case, containing two £ 10 Bank Cheques. A red leather Pocket- book, containing a £ 10 Bank of England Note, No. 48865. Information to be given at the Chief Office, or to Superinten- dent Mansbridge, Lewes, or at any Police Station in East Sussex.— Bow- street, August 13. Stolen from the person of a gentleman at Brighton Ter- minus, on the morning of the 10th inst. : a gold f- plate lever Watch, gold dial; makers Nennis & Loop, or Nennis & Loof, Tunbridge Wells, No. 10,042. Information t « be given to Chief Constable White, Town Hull, Brighton.— Bow- street, August 11. Stolen from the person in Brighton, from the 5th. to the 9th instant: A pair of Field Glasses, French make, and have some writing in French on them. A gold plain duplex hunting Watch. A large open- face gold lever Watch, white dial, maker Gardener, Manchester, on inside plate, aud a short piece of gold curb Chain, with four small gold Chubb lock Keys attached. A silver lever Watch, double cases, no glass, seconds hand missing, maker Edward Hawksworth, Grand Parade, Cork, Ireland. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. On the 12th instant, a dwelling- house in Bedford, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : a dessert Spoon, twelve tea Spoons, and a pair of sugar Tongs, all OH English pattern ; two table Spoons, marked ' J. P.' ; two salt Spoons, marked ' S. M. II.' ; a butter Knife, ivory handle ; a ditto, pearl handle ; a fish Knife ; and a pickle Fork, all silver. Information to be given to Chief Constable Verey, Borough Police Office, Bedford.— Bow- street, August 20. Between 11 p. m. on the 13th and 6 a. m. on the 14th inst, the dwelling- house of John Coward, Esq., of Western- hill, Durham, was broken and eiitered and stolen therein : a silver Trowel, inscribed ' Presented to Councillor Coward by the Wesleyans of Dragon Villa, on the occasion of his laying the foundation stone of a chapel at that place'; a ditto ditto, i inscribed ' Presented to Councillor Coward by the Primitive Methodists of Jubilee Chapel, durham, on the occasion of his laying the foundation stone of a School in connection with that place, & c.'; also four silver Pillars and a silver Knob belonging to a biscuit jar. The handles of the trowels were afterwards found in a garden near to Mr. Coward's residence. Information to be given to Superintendent Dunn, County Constabulary Office, Durham.— Bow- street, August 18. During the night of the 15th inst. tho dwelling- house of F. D. Jonsohn, Esq, Aykley Heads, near Durham, was broken into, and stolen therein : a single- breasted cutaway Coat and Vest ( mourning black) ; a new single- breasted dark mixture Coat; a. pair of Trousers, half worn; anew black Vest, turn- down collar, striped liuing ; a pair of elastic side Boots, worn down at heels ; a black silk Hat, a little worn ; a small gold Geneva Watch, a long old- fashioned gold guard with seals and locket containing photo of lady attached ; a gold Toothpick ; aud a loaf of Bread : supposed by two men, tramps : one 21 years of age, 5 ft. 6 ins. high, fair complexion, I brown hair ( no whiskers or moustache), and rather stout figure, dressed in old dark clothes and cap ; the other 18 yrs. of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, fair complexion, light hair, slender figure, dressed in old dark clothes and cap. Informa- tion to be given to Superintendent Dunn, County Constabulary Office, Durham.— Boio- street, August 18. Stolen from a field in the borough of Sheffield, during the night of the 27th ultimo : a dark chestnut Pony, 6 years old, 13A hands high, white off hind leg, white face, and white spot on back. £ 5 reward. Information ts be given at the Central Police Office, Sheffield, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, August 16. Stolen from a field at Walsal, during the night of the lltli : a black Cob, aged, 13 hands high, blind in the left eye, aud broken knees ; and a dark brown Mare, aged, 14J bands high, slight sore on left shoulder, aud a wound ou the left side. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, Walsall, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, August 16. Between 9 am. and 9 p. m. on the 5th instant, threo dwelling- houses at Alrewas, near Lichfield, Staffordshire, wero broken and entered, and stolen therein: £ 10 in Gold and Silver ; an old- fashioned German silver Wa'ch, with steel Chain and three Watch Keys attached ; five silver Tea Spoons, marked ' A. S.;' ten Spoons, thiee Tea, four Table, one Mustard, one Salt, one Sugar, aud a pair of Sugar Tongs, all metal; a gilt Bracelet, with a white stone in centre ; a dark Coat and Vest, boy's size ; a dark blue cashmere Shawl; a pair of kid Gloves ; a red Pocket- handkerchief, with white spots, border mended with white cotton. Supposed by a man, f- om 35 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, slender build, thin face, light complexion, and small light whiskers ; dressed in dark coat and vest, cord trousers, aud black billy- cock hat. Information to be given to Superintendent Bowen, Staffordshire Constabulary, Burton on- Trent.— Boic- street, August 11. During the night of the 5th inst. the dwelling- house of the Rev. Doctor Bennett at Crudwell was broke ii'info, and about £ 30, chiefly in gold, a £"> bank note ( supposed Bank of England); issued by Huddleston, Green & Co., Bury St. Ed- munds ; aud two bottles of TarragoLa Wine stolen therefrom. Information to be given to Superintendent ' Bcanchimp, Malmesbury, Wilts.— Bow- street, August 11. 14 hands high, 9 years old, white spot on off shoulder, tail cut square, and heels trimmed. Information to be given to the Deputy Chief Constable of Devon, Exeter.— Bow- street, August 20. Found at headington, near Oxford, supposed to have been stolen : a bay nag Horse, about 0 years old, about 14 hands high, star on forehead, white forefeet, the off hind foot white, tail cut square, a small scar on off hip, three small whito mirks on the back. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Fernsby, or to Inspector Yates, County Police Station, Oxford.— Boic- stree', August 18. Stolen on the night of the 15th instant, from the parish of Riston, iu the East Riding of York : a dark cbesnut Mare, 7 years old, 16 hands 3 inches high, strong make, of the nag breed, long switch tail, has uot been docked, very good action, has been use to ride and drive, shod on all feet, aud goes with the toes turned rathor inwards, the property of Thomas Cappleman, farmer. Information to be given to Superintendent Wright, East Riding Constabulary, Police Station, Leven, near Beverley. - bow- street, August 18. Absconded from Aldersliot, on the 28lb ultimo, charged on a warrant with stealing a Horse, Cab, and set of Harness ( since recovered), the property of his master Edward Ayres, of Farnborough : ARTHUR BUTLER, a cab driver, about 19 years of age, about 5 feet high, dark brown hair, no whiskers, thin features, in- kneed, and slightly made ; dressed in a suit of black cloth clothes. He is supposed to be in London. Information to be given to Superintendent Stephenson, Hants Constabulary, Aldershot, by whom £ 2 reward will bo paid on his apprehension and conviction. — Bow- street, August 18. Stolen during the night of the 11th instant, from Trinity Place, Borough : a dark brown cob Mare, 14 bands 3 inches high with brown muzzle ; and a riding Bridle with blue front, aud a Saddle. By a man, 23years of age, 5 feet 4 iuches high, dark complexion and moustache, and thin ; dressed iu blue short jacket, tweed trousers, black deer- stalker hat, of respectable appearance, a Frenchman, » nd can speak but little English.— Metropolitan Police, M Division, AugxM 17. Description of CHARLES HENRY STRATFORD, of JS'o. 29, Charles- street, Middlesex Hospital, charged on a warrant with stealing Horses": 45 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, daik hair, beard, and moustache, florid complexion, j medium build, and a ' horse coper.' Information to be given | to Superintendent Williamson, Detective Department, Great Scotland Yard.— Bow- street, August 13, Stolen from a field in the borough of Sheffield, during the night of tho lOlli instant : a dark cream- colour horse i Pony, 13 hands 3 inches high, with short tail; and a bay horse Pony, about 14 hauda 2 inches high, stiff ia off right fore foot, has been bitten on the breast, and short tail. In- formation to be given at the Central Police Office, Sheffield, Yorkshire.-- Bow- streert, August 13. Stolen on tho night of the 6th iustant, from a stable ia the East Park- road, Brighton : two French Mares, one very dark iron grey, 5 years old, about 16 hands high, long tail, rather full hocks, head rather lighter than the body, and has a small crack in front of near fore hoof; the other is light iron grey, 6 years old, about 15 hands 3 inches high, a very small wart on tho near hiud thigh, the hair slightly rubbed off ut the place, long mane and foretop, daik tail, and the j near fore knee is very slightly chipped. Also stolen on the same night, from a stable near fha Brighton race course : a black Mare, aged, about 15 hai di high, white hind fetlocks, long tail, off fore knee cut, but the hair has grown over it again, and very flat fore feet; a light spring Cart, in a very dirty state, has not been painted for a very img time, • Sarah Moppett' painted underneath the tailboard, and ' William Moppett' in large letters on the tailboard, and has a seat with leather straps at each end ; a'so a set of light Harness, in pretty good condition, except the . back baud, which is cracked. ! Any person giving such information a. i shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders and recovery of the above property, shall receive a reward of 1 £ 15 for each of the grey mares, and £ 10 for the black mare and cart. Stolen ru the 17th instant, from New Kent- road, Newington : a lady's gold Geneva Watcb, large aud flat, gold Chain, two Lockets, one for likeness, one set red stone, and gold pencil- case with cross at top ( chased) attached ; four geld Rings, one keeper, one set blue turquoise, one fancy, set various, stones ; one set with single ruby ; a pair of long gold Ear- rings ; six lace Handkerchiefs; several pairs Cotton Stockings, some white, some black and white stripe, some scarlet aud white ditto, ' II. J.' in red cotton ; three linen Chemises, tiiuimed embroidery ; three,. pairs Drawers, with frills ; a white embroidery Petticoat; tw6 blue silk Sashes ; a print' Dress ; two Black Skirts, one satin, one eilk ; a black straw Hat, trimmed blue feather two pairs kid : Gloves, one blue, one black : a black cloth Jacket, trimmed 1 silk ; a brown leather Purse; a pair cashmere Boots; and POLICE GAZETTE. A warrant has been issued at Tunbridge Wells, for the apprehension of JOHN BOAKES, who absconded about 8 p m. on the 12th instant, charged with embezzling several sums of money, aud stealing a white mackintosh Coat., the property of David Boonnan : he is 20 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, full face, pale complexion, grey eyes, and light hair ; dressed in black cloth coat, dark check trousers and vest, low shoes, black haul Oxford hat, and check Oxford scarf ; he is a journeyman baker, aud had with him a white bag, containing his working clothes ; is a native of Maidstone, where his fiiends reside. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, Town Hall, Tunbridge Wells, Kent.— Bow- street, August 18, Stolen from a dwelling- house in Middlesbrough, on the ICth instant : a black leather Purse, containing £ I 10s. in Gold and Silver: by a girl, about 14 years of age, thin face, slender figure, aud black hair, supposed to bo a native of WaleB ; dressed in a light wincey dress, bound round with black braid, black straw hat trimmed with brown ribbons ; she lodged at tho above house one night and absconded the next moriiing. Also stolen frcm a locked- up shop in the same place, between the 14th and 16th instant, three Boxes of Mixed Cigars. Information to be given to Head Constable Saggerson, Mid- dlesbiough, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, August 18. Absconded from Farnborough, Hants, on the 30th ult., charged on a warrant with stealing a quantity of Straw, the property of his nnster, Mr. William Allden, of Aldershot : THOMAS PERRY, a labourer, late of Cove, near Farn- borough, 27 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches high, dark brown hair, hazel eyes, and fresh complexion. Will probably be foutid harvesting or working on a railway. j£ 10 reward will be paid on his apprehension. Information to be given to Superintendent Stephenson, Hants Constabulary, Alder- » hot.- Bow- street, August 18. Absconded on the 7th instant, from Chelsea Market, stealing £ 20 in Gold ; a silver lever Watch, a gold Albert Chain, long links, with red Seal and gold Key attached ; six silver Tea Spoons; a pair of Sugar Tongs ; aud four silk Handkerchiefs. A man, 26 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, pale comploxion, and dark brown hair ; dressed as a labourer. He is likely to emigrate.— Metropolitan Police, B Division, Auquit 1G. Description of a woman who absconded from Sandown, Isle of Wight, on the Glh instaut, charged with larceny, as bailee. She represented herself to be the widow of an officer in the Indian army, and said she had been abroad many years ; was accompauied by her two daughters, aud took two furnished houses, one she had sub- let, the other she had occupied about a month. On the evening of the 5th instant she visited several shops, and in some she gave very large orders, stating that her eldest daughter was shortly going to be married, aud from others she obtained a large quantity of goods, and then went away, taking several boxes with her, without paying the bills. She is from 45 to 50 years of age, middle height, datk brown hair, dark eyes, very dark brown complexion ; dress black, black lace shawl, black bonnet ( red feather. The elder daughter is 18 or 19 years of age, rather short, rather full face, dark brown hair, and has a cast in one eye; dressed in a brown holland or light alpaca dress The other daughter is 13 years of age, rather long full face, with a fresh scar on tip of chin ; dressed in a brown striped dress. Information to be given to Superintendent Horan, Newport, or to Sergeant Rapkins, Sandown, Isle of Wight, who holds a warrant for the apprehension of the above woman.— Bow- street, August 16. Description of JAMES OLIVER EWINGS, a tramping tailor, who absconded on the 2nd instant, charged with stealing £ 4 18s. from his lodgings in Newbury : he is about 30 years of age, looks younger, 6 feet 7 inches high, fair com- plexion, blue eyes, light straight hair, parted down the centre, small light whiskers, and has a mark of a deep scar on one hand ; dressed in black jacket, with pockets aud fl ipst, black vest, moth eaten, brown mixture trousers, and side- spring boots, with tips on heels ; he was traced to Kentish Town, Loudon, tnd left there on the 3rd instant; he is known iu London, where he was formerly a bus conductor, aud is believed to be a native of Nottingham or neighbourhood. Information to be given to Superintendent Bennett, Berks Constabulary, Newbury, who holds a warrant for his appre- hension.— Bow- street, August 10. Description of MARY ANN CONWAY, alias BARRY, who is charged with larceny on the 6th ultimo : from 24 to 26 years of age, 5 feet 1 inch high, fresh complexion, good looking, dark hair, proportionate build, high forehead, stoops in shoulders, has a scar on left cheek and neck, which sticks out and is very red, has several other scars near tho parting of her hair, and a wouud on her leg below the knee ; she has a child about 1 year old which she constantly carries, aud is accompanied by her husband about 5 feet 4 inches high, walks very smart, has a brown tuft of hair on the chin, and is a bricklayers' labourer ; wears a dark suit and cap, aud has worked in Wakefield, Barnsley, Middlesbrough, and South Stockton. Information to be given to Superintendent Hunt, Central Police Office, Town Hull, Leeds.— Bow- street, August 13. Description of WM. ALLEN, of Chesham, Bucks, labouier, charged on a warrant with larceny, at Ivor, Bucks, on the 28th ultimo : about 42 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, rather stoutish, red complexion, light whiskers, and very gruff voice ; dressed in dark jacket, fustian trousers, and black cap. Information to be given to Superintendent Dunham, Police Court, Slough, Bucks.— Bow- street, Aug. 13. Absconded, charged with embezzlement: J. EMMERSON CROWTHER, about 46 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, well built, long face, dark complexion, high mouth, lower lip thick, dark hair and whiskers, turning grey, no moustache ; dressed iu dark clothes ; he is a commercial traveller, aud was a secretary to the Foresters' Society and other clubs ; he is known to a publican in Hull, aud has friends at Durham. Information to be given at the Central Police Office, Town Hall, Leeds, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, August 13. Absconded on tho 3J « t ultimo, charged ( on a warrant) with larceny : CHARLES VENABLES, a clerk, about 19 years of age, 5 feet high, dark brown hair, grey eyes, thin face, pointed features, pale complexion, and slight build ; he is probably dressed in newyiothes. Information to be given to Inspector Bailey, City of London Police, Detective Depart- ment, 26, Old Jewry, E. C.— Bow- street, August 13. Stolen on the 16th ultimo, from Whitfield- street: a suit of black Clothes. Charged with stealing on the 25th ultimo : a silver lever Watch, No. 20098 ; a metal Chain ; two Medals; and acloth Coat, the property of William Brown, at Tow Law : a man, 28 or 30 years of age, 5 feel 8 or 9 inches high, dark com- plexion, very dirty slovenly appearance, dark hair, small moustache, and whiskers rouud the cliiu, and proportionate figure ; he is a tramp, and sleeps about cinder ovens, brick works, & c. ; he is supposed to be wearing the stolen coat, and striped trousers. Information to be given to Superintendent Thubron, Durham County Constabulary, Stanhope, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, August 11 Absconded on the 26th ultimo, from Southampton- row, embezzling £ 200 : a man, 45 years of age, 6 feet high, fair complexion, hair, whiskers, and moustache ; dressed iu dark clothes, and of respectable appearance; he is supposed to have gone to Great Malvern.— Metropolitan Police, E Division, August 11.
