The Names of Accomplices and Accessories, with every particular which may lead to their Apprehension. Notice.— It is requested that all communications lor the purpose of obtaining or giving " information respecting supposed offenders, or stolen property, may bear the Signature of the person requiring or sending the same, and all applications in ' reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to the Editor, Police Court, Bow Street, London, W. C. Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably nesssary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all letters addressed to the Editor mipt toe prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. The Names and Descriptions of Deserters from the Army, and t: Absentees and Deserters from the Militia, should be forwarded en War Office Forms 88 and 88A, to the Editor, as above, for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE. INFORMATIONS. MUEDSE AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. The Body of a newly- born female Child was found on the line of the Cornwall Kail way, iu the borough of Plymouth, on the 10th uit., and a verdict of ' Wilful murder' returned at the coroner's inquest against some person or persons linknown. Her Majesty's Government offer a reward of .-£ 50 to any person who will give such information and evidence as shall lead to the discovery and conviction of the murderer or murderers ; and Mr. Secretary Cross will advise the grant of Her Majesty's gracious pardon to any accomplice, not being the person who actually committed the murder, • who will give such evidence as shall lead to the like result. Stolen from the person of Samuel Garton, on the 5th instant, in the ' White Horse Inn,' at Great Driffield : a wash leather Bag, containing £ 7 15s. in Gold and Silver. By three men, one who is in custody. In custody : THOS. FOSTER, 22 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, pale com- plexion, grey eyes, brown hair, slender figure ; dressed in dark coat, grey trousers, light boots, and felt hat. At large : one 22 years of age, slender figure ; dressed in white smock, tinder dark coat, aud felt hat ; and the other 23 years of age, slender figure, and dark clothes. Stolen from the person of Mr. Wyatt Harlow, of Burslem, on the railway platform at Stoke, about 8- 30 p. m. on the 5th instant : a gold lever Watch, No. 40788, engine- turned, 1 E. R. to J. R,.' engraved inside, maker ' H. Pidduck, Hauley.' Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Longden, Police Office, Stoke- on- Trent.— Bow- street, August 9. Stolen from the person, on the 2nd instant : a lady's small skeleton lever Watch, gold dial, No. 22790, had attached a gold Albert Chain, link and bar pattern. FORGERY, Description of a man of gentlemauly appearance, dressed as a clergyman, who called at the shop of Mr. Roberts, music- seller, High- street, Windsor, on the 29th ultimo, and obtained .£ 23 by means of a forged Cheque for £ 50, on Gurney & Co., Halesworth Bank. BURGLARY AMD HOUSE BREAKING. Stolen from a field in the borough of Sheffield, during tbe night of the 27th ultimo : a dark chestnut Pony, 6 years old, 13j> hands high, white off hind leg, white face, and white spot on back. £ 5 reward. Information la be given at the Central Police Office, Sheffield, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, August 16. to Superintendent Williamson, Detective Department, Great Scotland Yard.— Bow- street, August 13, Stolen from a field in the borough of Sheffield, during the night of the 10th instant : a dark cream- colour horse Pony, 13 hands 3 inches high, with short tail; and a bay horse Pony, about 14 hands 2 inches high, stiff in off right fore foot, has been bitten on the breast, and short tail. In- formation to be given at the Central Police Oflice, Sheffield, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, August 13. Stolen on the night of the 5th instant, from a stable in the East Park- road, Brighton : two French Mares, one very dark iron grey, 5 years old, about 16 hands high, long tail, rather full hocks, head rather lighter than the body, and has a small crack in front of uear fore hoof; the other is light iron grey, 6 years old, about 15 hands 3 inches high, a very small wart on the near hind thigh, the hair slightly rubbed off at the place, long mane and foretop, dark tail, and the near fore knee is very slightly chipped. Also stolen on the same night, from a stable near the Brighton race- course : a black Mare, aged, about 15 hands high, white hind fetlocks, long tail, off fore knee cut, but the hair has grown over it again, and very flat fore feet ; a light spring Cart, iu a very dirty state, has not been painted for a very long time, ' Sarah Moppett' painted underneath the tailboard, and ' William Moppett' in large letters on the tailboard, and has a seat with leather straps at each end ; also a set of light Harness, in pretty good condition, except the back band, which is cracked. Any person giving such information as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders and recovery of the above property, shall receive a reward of £ 15 for each of the grey mares, and £ 10 for the black mare and cart. The elder daughter is 18 or 19 years of age, rather dark complexion and moustache, and thin ; dressed iti blue short, rather full face, dark brown hair, and has a cast in one short jacket, tweed trousers, black deer- stalker hat, of eye; dressed in a brown holland or light alpaca dress. August 16 tailor, who absconded on the 2nd instant, charged with stealing £ 4 18s. from hi3 lodgings in Newbury : he is about 30 years of age, looks younger, 5 feet 7 inches high, fair com- plexion, blue eyes, light straight hair, parted down the centre, small light whiskers, and has a mark of a deep scar on one hand ; dressed in black jacket, with pockets and flaps, black vest, moth eaten, browu mixture trousers, and side- spring boots, with tips on heels ; he was traced to Kentish Town, London, and left there on the 3rd instant ; he is known iu London, where he was formerly a bus conductor, aud is believed to be a native of Nottingham or neighbourhood. Description of MARY ANN CONWAY, alias BARRY, who is charged with larceny on the 6th ultimo : from 24 to 26 years of age, 5 feet 1 inch high, fresh complexion, good looking, dark hair, proportionate build, high forehead, stoops in shoulders, has a scar on left cheek and neck, which sticks out and is very red, has several other scars near the parting of her hair, and a wound on her leg below the knee ; she has a child about 1 year old which she constantly carries, and is accompanied by her husband about 5 feet 4 inches high, walks very smart, has a brown tuft of hair on tbe chili, and is a bricklayers' labourer ; wears a dark suit and cap, aud has worked in Wakefield, Barnsley, Middlesbrough, and South Stockton. ALLEN, of' Chesham, Bucks, labourer, charged on a warrant with larceny, at Iver, Bucks, on the 28th ultimo : about 42 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, rather stoutifh, red complexion, light whiskers, and very gruff voice ; dressed iu dark jacket, fustian trousers, and black cap. Information to be given to Superintendent Dunham, Police Court, Slough, Bucks.— Bow- street, Aug. 13. Description of WALT. PENSON, a chemist's assistant, charged with embezzling £ 35 : 24 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, fresh complexion, sharp features, dark brown hair, slight beard on chin, small moustache, grey eyes, pro- portionate build, walks erect, smart appearance, and a native of Suffolk ; dressed in a dark blue coat and vest, dark check trousers, light overcoat, and white straw hat. He is supposed to be accompanied by a woman about 24 years of age, short stature, good looking, and of very smart appearance. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Carter, Terrington St. Clement, Kicigs Lynn, Norfolk, who holds a warrant for his apprehension, and by whom all reasonable expences will be lining, stitched edges, sleeves lined with light twill; a black cloth Vest ; aud a pair of black cloth Trousers, new. By a man, about 40 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, stout build, ruddy complexion, sandy hair, long behind, and bald on top of head, is a little lame of right foot, and the shoe is cut; dressed in a cloth jacket, cord trousers, old fashioned waistcoat, with stripes, / plaid scarf, and soft billycock hat, all much worn ; he carries with him a small black covered bible, and is frequently seen reading it ; he generally seeks private lodgings. Also stolen in Ipswich : a quantity of Mathematical Instruments, consisting of a proportionate Compasser; Dividers ditto ; two Springs ; two Pens ; a lengthening Bar; a small Compasser, witirpen and small ditto, with pencil on top. Also stolen from 106, Norwich- road, at an auction sale : a brown silk Umbrella, plain handle, with a small piece of ivory let in. Description of WILLIAM BIRD, alias BIRDIE, who w charged ou a warrant with stealing a double- cased silver Watch, glass broken, plated albert chaiu with three stones attached, at Sittingbourne, on the 28ch ultimo : 20 years of age, about 5 feet 5 inches high, fair complexion, thin face, sharp features, tattooed on one arm a man on a cross, and the other arm is diseased; dressed in a dark mixture cloth cap with peak, hip jacket, dark cloth trousers, and grey waist- coat ; be plays oa a tin whistle, aud sings at public- houses ; was iu company with another man who sings. Absconded, since the 4th inst., charged ( en warrants) with fraud and conspiracy : ALEXANDER COLLIE, late of 17, Leaden hall Street : he is 52 years of age, 6 feet high, lather red hair, turning grey, cut short, rather red whiskers, florid complexion, small eyes, high cheek bones, has a deep scar on upper lip, extending towards cheek,, walks erect, square shoulders, and rather thin build ; dressed well in dark clothes, and high hat. He is a native of Scotland, and has recently resided at Dover House, Rolhampton, aud 12, Kensington Palace G ardens. £ 1000 reward is offered for his apprehension. Absconded, charged on a bench warrant with obtawnig Absconded on the 7th instant, from St. John- street, Money by false pretences: NICHOLAS WHITE, alias Salisbury, charged with stealing from his furnished lodgings : BEVAN, late of 10, Lincoln's Inn Eields, London, 28 years two Blankets, one Bolster, and three cotton Sheets: ALFRED 0f age> 5 feet 9 inches high, broad shoulders, black curly hair LOCK, a labourer, between 30 and 35 y ears of age, sallow j parted in the centre, small dark moustache, whiskers half* complexion, light hair, blue eyes, sandy whiskers meeting ! down the cheeks, pale complexion, good looking, and well- under the chin, and small moustache ; dressed in brown ; dressed. He carried on a loan office in connection with his tweed coat and. vest, cord trousers, patched on each knee, father. ALEXANDER LINDSAY, charged with obtaining goods by false pretences at the parish ot Eagmond, Salop, as Absconded, charged with embezzlement: J. EMMERSON advertised in the Police Gazette of the 26th January, 1870, CROWTHER, about 46 years ef age, 5 feet 10 inches high, has not been apprehended. He has lost his left arm, and is well built, long face, dark complexion, high mouth, lower lip supposed to be delivering books in numbers. Information upon the railway there, aud lodged at a beer- house in Well- lane. Information to be given to Inspector Ward, County Police Station, Spalding, Lincolnshire.— Bow- street, Auq. 16. Missing from his home at Kilburn. near Thirsk, since the morning of the llth instant: WILLIAM DIXON, a blacksmith, 42 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, brown hair, small sandy whiskers, and rather thin features ; dressed in a blue pilot jacket, dark moleskin waistcoat, dark cord trousers, blue shirt, dark silk handkerchief, old shoes, and black cloth cap turned up all round. It is feared some i. U has befallen him. A reward of £ 2 will be paid on his dis- covery. The body of a [ new- born Male Child was sent from Shalford, Surrey, on the South Eastern Railway, about the 9th June last, in a small bonnet box, closed up iu a sheet o£ ' brown paper and double corded, addressed to ' Mrs. Mitchell, Ladbrook Farm, near Louth, Lincolnshire.' The body was wrapped in an old chamber- towel, a child's red flannel petti- coat, and an old black shawl. Information to be giveu to Superintendent Thorsby, Comity Police Station, Louth, Lincolnshire.— Bow- street, August 13. Committed to Falkingham Gail on the llth instant for 14 days, charged with vagrancy : JAMES DAVIS, 27 years of age, 5 feet 7 iuches high, fr^ gh complexion, saudy whiskers, about three week ' growth, sandy moustache, hazel eyes, scar on left shoulder and on top of each thigh, the right one has been broken ; dressed in blue short jacket, dark vest, old dirty fus> tiau trousers, blue scarf with white spots, round black cap with kuob at top, and strong lace- up boots. He is a miner and a native of South Wales, and has worked iu Hull, Sheffield, and other places.
