Information to be given to Chief Constable White, Town Hall, Brighton, Sussex.— Bow- street, August 6. Stolen from the person at Brighton, on the 4th instant : A gold English lever Watch, with a chased cross on back of outer case. A silver lever Watch, double ease, gold hands, black seconds hand, maker Dann, Bamsey. A silver verge Watch, double case, ' T. R.' on outside and inside of back case, and a small neat pattern gold Albert Chain, with a new spade Guinea attached, each link of the chain stamped ' 18 carat.' A gold lever Watch, white face, gold hands and secouds hand, double case, shield on front case, and engine- turned on the other. £ 2 reward. Stolen from the person at Barnsley, on the 29th ultimo : a silver lever Watch, No. 38998, jewelled in eight holes, com- the line of the Cornwall Railway, iu tbe borough of Plymouth, | pensation balance, white dial with black numerals, and a on the 10th uit., and a verdict of ' Wilful murder' returned large oval- linked gold Albert attached ; and four Sovereigns : murder at the coroner's inquest against some person or persons unknown. Her Majesty's Government offer a reward of £ 50 to any person who will give such information and evidence as shall lead to the discovery and conviction of the murderer or murderers ; and Mr. Secretary Cross will advise the grant of Her Majesty's gracious pardon to any accomplice, not being the person who actually committed tho murder, who will give such evidence as shall lead to the like result. Information to bo given to Superintendent Sykes, West Riding Constabulary, Barnsley, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, August 4. Stolen from the person at Goodwood Races : A gold Watch, 1617, monogram ' J. W. O. S.' on back, maker Tifner and Co., New York, and horses head on front. A blue Chester Overcoat, velvet collar, and silk lining (£ 1 reward). A diamond Pin, gold, set in bird's claw (£ 5 reward). A gold Pin set with seven or eight diamonds, horse- shoe pattern. A double cased engine gold repeater Watch, inside glass broken, white enamel face, with a deep mark across the figure 6, as if cut with a knife. On the evening of the 27th instant, a lady was seriously assaulted and beaten, while passing under the railway arch, • which . crosses Lover's- walk, in the parish of Preston, within A silver Geneva Watch, scratched on back ' J. Absconded, charged with wounding and inflicting grievous bodily harm upon Police Constable Richard Cashford, in the execution of his duty, at WiDgbam, on the 24th inst. : WILLIAM HUBAND, 18 years of age, 5 feet 5j- inches high, fair complexion, light brown hair, blue eyes, and a native of Evesham, Worcester. And WILLIAM. GREEN, 22 years of age, 5 feet 6| ins. high, dark complexion, dark brown hair, grey eyes, has a scar on inner side and beneath right cheek bone, and a native of Canton, Cardiff, Glamorgan. These men are privates iu the Royal Marines, and in uniform, which, together with their belts, will probably be marked with blood. Information to be givsn to- Superintendent Stokes, County Constabulary Office, Sandwich, Kent.— Bow- street, Julv 28. FORGERY. Obtained on the 8th ultimo, by means of uttering a forged Cheque, £ 39. By THOMAS PAYNE, of Burbidge- road, Hinckley, Leicester, 26 years of age, ruddy complexion, dark brown hair, whiskers and beard shaved off; dressed in light plaid suit; he is paralysed ou one side. Warrant issued.— Metropolitan Police, C Division, August 4. ROBBERY AID LARCENY FROM' THE PERSON. Stolen from the person in Brighton, between the 30th ultimo and tbe 3rd instant; A blue enamelled Locket, set with small brilliants and a large pearl in centre. £ 2 reward. A silver Geneva lever Watch, open face, with initials 1E. P.' on outside of case, maker Steward, Strand. A gold open- faced lever Watch, flowered gold face, black hands and seconds hand, and has a yery slight bulge in outer case. A Russia leather Purse, with_ the initials ' W. J. B.' on it, containing £ 125 in Bank of A gold English hunting Watch ; a gold Erench ditto ditto, with ' Johnstone' and crest— a flying spur, on the back; a gold double end Chain with cross bar ; and ail 18- carat gold snake Bing of three twists, with two small diamonds for the eyes. And a pair of Opera Glasses, ivory handles, mounted with gold, initials ' E. B.' Information to be given to Superintendent Pratt, County Police Station, Chichester, Sussex.— Bow- street, August 4. About 8 p. m. on the 29th ultimo, at Abbots Langley, Herts, John Rolfe was in a field digging potatoes, when he was attacked by a man and woman, who stole his Shoes from off his feet and left him insensible ou the ground ( they are strong lace- up shoes, nearly new, tipped toe and heel) : the man is named JOSEPH SMITH, 18 or 19 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, dark hair, fresh complexion, and single ; dressed in a black jacket, black corduroy trousers with straps round the legs ; he is a tinker; the woman, who is supposed to be his sister, was dressed in an old light stuff dress, black jacket, and black straw hat; she carried a bundle tied in an old blanket. Information to be given to Inspector Chapman, Police Station, Watford, Herts, who holds a warrant for the apprehension of the man Smith.— Bow- street, August 4. Stolen from the person of John Young, in Berwick- upon- Tweed, between 10 p. m. 26th aud 12 30 a. m. on the 27th instant: a double- case silver lever Watch, light- coloured dial, large black chapters, geld hands, steel seconds, small crack near chapter ' 6,' maker Lumsden, No. 9677. Information to be given to Head Constable Garden, Berwick- upon- Tweed, Northumberland.— Bow- street, July 31. Between 12.30 a. m. and 7 a. m. on the 3rd inst. the dwelling- house of Mr. Thos. J. Perry, architect of St. Peter's Road, Handsworth, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : one red and black woollen Table Cover, vine leaves and large size ; one green coloured Table Cover ( woollen, oval) ; one electro- plated Reel Stand, complete ( silver scissors, & c. inside) ; 2 electro- plated Candlesticks ; one pearl- covered Carte- de- visits Book; one leather ditto; three silk Umbrellas; and one small silver- plated Basket. Information to be given to Sergeant Steele, Police Station, Handsworth, Birmingham. — Bow- street, A ugusl 6. Description of ALFRED NASH, late of Chew Magna, labourer, charged with breaking and entering the dwelling- house of the executors of the late John Webb, of Chew Stoke, in the county of Somerset, on the 15th ultimo, and stealing therein three Coats, a pair of Trousers, a Vest, several Socks and Stockings, and a pair of cotton Drawers : about 24 years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, slight build, no whiskers, beard, or moustache, dark complexion, hair, and eyes ; was wearing one of the stolen coats ( a dark grey), with pockets outside, and on the right side is an imitation pocket. He has a military appearance, was recently discharged from the Army with ignominy, and may be wearing an old pair of military trousers. Supposed to have gone to Wales. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Etnson, Somerset Constabulary, Temple Cloud, near Bristol. — Bow- street, August 4. Between 1 and 6 p. m. on the 29th uit., several cottages in the parish of Salford, Warwickshire, were entered by means of picklock keys, and stolen therein : about £ 60 in Gold and Silver; a silver verge Watch, No. 10717, maker J. Eborall, Warwick ; a silver Geneva Watcb, No. supposed to be 9256, maker T. Compton, Coventry ; an old- fashioned silver Watch, No. 13839, a silver Guard attached ; an old- fashioned silver Watch, No. 136, maker Shell, Bristol; five old- fashioned silver Watches ; au old- fashioned gold Watch, maker Young, London ; two large gold Brooches, one con- taining the portrait of a gentleman, the other the portrait of a lady, marked 1 C. M.' and ' S. ;' two pairs of gohl Ear- rings ; a gold Wedding Ring ; and a silver Thimble. Supposed by a man about 26 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, florid complexion, light hair, sandy moustache, no whiskers ; dressed in a long dark coat, darlc- mixture trousers, high- crowned bat, and carried an umbrella ; he can be identified. £ 20 reward will be paid to any person who will give such information as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of tbe offender or offenders. Information to be given to Superintendent Dunbar, Alcester, Warwickshire.— Bow- street, August 4. On the 27th instant, between 11.30 am. and 7 p. m., the dwelling <. f Paul Martin, of Hardwick, Bredon, Worcester- shire, was entered by means of picklock keys, and £ 17 in Gold, and an old- fashioned silver verge Watch, with bull's- eye. glass and steel Chain attached, were stolen therein. Supposed by two men, one about 50 years of age and about 5 ft. 9 ins. high ; dressed in dark clothes, low hat,, and dark hair and whiskers-, turning grey. The other about 27 years of age, about 5 feet 7 iuches high, light hair, whiskers and moustache, black cloth jacket, and dark trousers. They are supposed to have come from Birmingham. Information to be given to Superintendent Stanton, Police Office, Pershore, Worcester- shire.— Bow- street, July 30. AND CATTLE STEALING. Eound at Leigh, on the 28th ultimo, and supposed to have been stolen : a light bay Mare, aged, 15 hands high, white face, two hind legs white, no shoes on behind, and lame. Information to be given to Superintendent Lambert, Surrey Constabulary, Dorking.— Bow- street, August 6. The bay cart Horse, advertised in the Police Gazette of th; 14th ultimo, supposed to have been stoleu from Walsall, has been found, and restored to the owner. Tbe black horse Pony aud black horse Cob, advertised at the same date, are still missing. £ 10 reward will be paid by the owner upon recovery of the horses and conviction of the offender or offenders. Information to be given to the Chief Constable of Walsall, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, August 6. Charged with horse- stealing, between the night of tbe 20th and morning of the 21st uit, at Pirnhall, in the parish of St. Niuians, Stirlingshire, WILLIAM DUNNING, sup- posed to be a native of Galloway : about 32 years of age, about 5 feet 5 high, fair hair and moujtache, sallow com- plexion, long and full face, large eyes, whiskers shaved off, sto'utlr make, and leans forward when walking; he is a miner, but occasionally works as a carter, and at hay- cutting and farm work ; dressed in a blue coat, dark trousers and vest, aud balmoral bonnet. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, County Police Office, Stirling.— Bow- slreet, Augu. t 6. BURGLARY AIB HOUSE BREAKING. Between 6 p. m. on the 3rd, aud 6 a. m. on the 4th inst., a weaving shed at Westhoughton, near Bolton- le- Moors, Lancashire, was broken and entered, and stoleu therein : about 80 yards of blue Silk ; about 70 yards of crimson ditto; and 4 pieces of different shades of brown Silk, all suitable for Information to be given to Superintendent, dress pieces. England Notes, consisting of , Holland, County Police Office, Bolton, Lancashire.— Bow- st., eleven £ 10 Notes and the remaiitder in £ 5 Notes; ten of ! August 6. Stolen frcra a field in the borough of Sheffield, during the night of the 27t, h ultimo : a dark chestnut Pony, 6 years old, 13j hands high, white far hind leg, white spot on forehead, and a small white spot on the back. Information to be given at the Central Police Office, Sheffield.— Bow- slreet, August 4. Stolen from a field at Pontrilas, in the parish of Ewyas Harold, Herefordshire, between 8 p. m. on the 27i. h, and 6 a. m. on the 28th ultimo : five half- bred Southdown Lambs, in wool, grey faced, long tails,' freshly marked on necks with blue, and pitch marked with ' M,' on right side, the property POLICE GAZETTE. Obtained, on the 30th ult„ by fraud, from Havelock street, Islington: a dark brown gelding Pony, 13 hands high : a set of brass- mounted Harness, and a dark green Gig : by two men, one 32 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, dark com- plexion, hair, and whiskers ; dressed iu dark cloth jacket, and cap, and cord trousers, and had the appearance of a " horse coper the other, 40 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, dark complexion, hair, whiskers, and moustache ; dressed in grey suit, and black felt hat.— Metropolitan Police, Y Division, August 4. Stolen from a field at Birmingham, on the night of the 28th instant: an iron grey mare Pony, 3 years old, 13 hands high, white hind foot, wart inside near thigh, and in good condition ; the property of Mr. Henry Cropper. £ 5 reward will be paid on recovery of the pony, and apprehension of the offender or offenders. Information to be given to Superin- tendent Carline, County Police Office, Chesterfield.— Bow- street, July 31. Stolen on the night of the 26th, or morning of the 27th instant, from Hook House Farm, in the parish of Newnhain, Hants : a bay mare Pony, with black legs, mane, and tail, aged, 13| hands high, white stripe down forehead, and has been recently dressed from withers to tail with a solution of brimstone, & c., the property of Edmund Robertson, Esq. Also stolen: a set of silver mounted Pony Harness and a light Spring Cart, painted black, nearly new. Whoever will give such information as shall lead to the conviction of the offender or offenders, and tho recovery of the property, to the Inspector of the Hants Constabulary, at Basingstoke, shall receive £ 25 reward,— Bow- street, July 30. Stolen during the night of the 26th instant, from a field at Yeading, Hayes : a bay Mare, thoroughbred, 15 bands high, aged, short tail, no shoes on hind feet, over at knees, ANTHONY THOMAS COLLARD, a collector of poor rates for the Minster district of the Isle of Thanet Union, about 38 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, fair complexion, light hair and moustache, proportionate make, and lisps slightly ; generally dressed in a light- coloured or brown suit; is a native of Minster, and will probably try to emigrate. Information to be be given to Superintendent Stokes, Kent County Constabulary, Sandwich.— Bow- street, August 4. Absconded on the 29tli ultimo, stealing £ 9 8s,, the monies of his employer : a youth, 17 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, fair complexion ; dressed in black coat and trousers, and Oxford hat.— Metropolitan Police, B Division, August 4. Absconded, embezzling £ 10, the monies of a Labour Protection Society, at Plaistow, to which he was secretary : a man, 34 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, dark complexion, black hair, curly moustache, tuft on chin, and of Jewish appearance ; dressed in dark grey suit, and felt hat.— Metro- politan Police, K Division, August 4. Absconded, embezzling £ 1 18s. 8d., at High- street, Camden Town : a man, 20 years of age, 5 feet 5J inches high, florid complexion, dark hair, slight moustache and whiskers, slightly bow legged ; dressed in light coat, dark mixture trousers, and high hat, with mourning band.— Metropolitan Police, S Division, August 4. Stolen on the 27th ultimo, from Riverbank, Shepperlon: a suit of blue cloth Livery, silver buttons, crest — a greyhound out of a coronet; a silver hat Band; a pair of top Boots ; and a grey cloth stable Suit. By a youth, 19 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, grey eyes, fair hair and complexion, pimples on face; supposed dressed in stolen stable suit.-— Metropolitan Police, T Division, August 4. Description of ROBERT KENT, charged with larceny as a bailee at Middlesbrough, on the 27th instant ( property recovered) : about 30 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, fresh complexion, full face, brown hair, no whiskers, and flat glass, keyless, 10 holes, 18 lines. By a man,' who represented himself to be J. H. Hewitt, of 368, High- street, Lincoln, which is false, 35 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, sallow complexion, dark hair, whiskers, and moustache, and of shabby genteel appearance. Warrant issued. Information to be given to Head Constable Barratt, Abing- don, Berks.— Bow- street, August 6. Missing from his home at Ely, on the 3rd instant, and it is feared some ill has befallen him : ARTHUR HAYLOCK., 19 years of age, about 5 feet 6 iuches high, light hair, cut short, blue eyes, fair complexion, slightly made, upright, and has a nervous way of looking behind him, being slightly imbecile ; dressed in hard felt chummy hat, with flat top, blue cloth overcoat, with fly front ( over a dark one, much worn), mixture cloth trousers, and lace- up balmoral boots. Information to be given to his father, Mr. R. Haylock, Eggermont- street, Ely, who will pay any expenses, or to Superintendent Smith, Police Office, Ely, Cambs.— Bow- stn ct, August 6. Description of MARK MAGHAN, alias WILLIAM WILSON, charged on remand at Dorchester with stealing a number of carpenters' Tools from a new building : 49 years of , age, 5 feet 6'| inches high, dark brown hair, grey eyes, and j dark complexion. States that he is a boiler rivetter, a native 1 of Dublin, and has served in the 102nd Regt. of Fusileers, from which he was discharged on the 25th May, 1864; he ! has the following marks tattooed on his person : ' B. Further description of the Horses stolen from Merton ( advertised in the Police Gazette of the 19 th instant) : one is a dark brown Gelding, nearly 16 hands high, 7 years old, of high courage, quiet in harness but not in saddle, the mono- gram should be ' S.
