INFORMATIONS MU£ D£ E AND MALICIOUSLY WOraDIIG. The Body of a newly- born female Child was fouud on the line of tbe Cornwall Railway, in the borough of Plymouth, on the 10th ult., and a verdict of ' Wilful murder' returned at the coroner's inquest against some person or persons unknown. Her Majesty's Government offer a reward of £ J50 to any person who will give such information and evidence as shall lead to the discovery and conviction of the murderer or murderers ; and Mr. Secretary Cross will advise the grant of Her Majesty's gracious pardon to any accomplice, not being the person who actually committed the murder, who will give such evidence as shall lead to the like result. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Wreford, Central Police Station, Plymouth, Devonshire.— Bow- street, August 4. Description of two men charged with murder at Southall, on tbe 29th ult. ; one 18 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, fair complexion and hair, grey eyes ; dressed in dark jacket, white slop UEder, cricketing cap, aud Baluioral boots with toe caps ( new) ; the other 20 yeais of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, fair complexion and hair ; dressed iu dark jacket, c rd trousers, dark felt hat ; both natives of Yeading, labourers, tbey are likely to tramp the country for reaping work, and were last seen at Iver, Bucks, on the morning of the 31st ult. — Metropolitan Police, X Division, August 4. On the evening of the 27th instaut, a lady was seriously assaulted and beaten, while passing under the railway arch, which crosses Lover's- walk, iu the parish of Preston, within tbe borough cf Brighton. A reward of £ 50 will be paid to any person or persons who will give such information and evidence as will lead to the conviction of tho offender or offenders. Information to be given to Chief Constable White, Town Hall, Brighton.— Bow- street, July 30. Absconded, charged with wounding and inflicting giievous bodily harm upon Police Constable Iiichard Cashford, iu the execution of his duty, at Wingham, on the 24th iust. : WILLIAM HUBAND, 18 years of age, 5 feet inches high, fair complexion, light brown hair, blue eyes, and a native of Evesham, Worcester. And WILLIAM GREEN, 22 years of age, 5 feet C| ins. high, dark complexion, dark brow'n hair, grey eyes, has a scar on inner side aud beneath right cheek bono, and a native of Canton, Cardiff, Glamorgan. These men are privates in the Royal Marines, and in uniform, which, together with their belts, will probably be marked with blood. Obtained on the 8tli ultimo, by means of uttering a forged Clieque, £ 39. By THOMAS PAYNE, of Burbidge- road, Hinckley, Leicester, 26 years of age, ruddy complexion, dark brown hair, whiskers and beard shaved oil'; dressed in light plaid suit ; he is paralysed on one side. A silver Geneva lever Watch, open face, with initials ' F. P.' on outside of case, maker Steward, Strand. A gold open- faced lever Watch, flowered gold face, black hands and" seconds hand, and has a yery slight bulge in outer case. A Russia leather Purse, with the initials ' W. J. B.' on it, containing £ 125 in Bank of England Notes, consisting of eleven .€ 10 Notes and the remainder in £ 5 Notes; ten of the £ 10 notes are numbered I | 24 85231 to 85210, and dated 22nd March, 1875 : stolen in the race stand. And a gold open- face Watch, white face, gold hands and seconds hand, plain engine- turned back, maker Skelton, St. Martin's- lane : stolen iu the race stand. R.' on outside Knd inside of back case, and a small neat pattern gold Albert Chain, with a new spade Guinea attached, each link of the chain stamped ' 18 carat.' Stolen from the person at Goodwood Races : A gold Watch, 1617, monogram ' J. W. O. S.' on back, maker Tifner aud Co., New York, and horses head on front. A blue Chester Overcoat, velvet collar, and silk lining (£ 1 leward). A diamond Pin, gold, set in bird's claw (£ 5 reward). A gold Pin set with seven or eight diamonds, horse- shoe pattern. A double cased engine gold repeater Watch, inside glass broken, white enamel face, with a deep mark across the figure 6, as if cut with a knife. A gold Watch, open face, wreath of flowers round the face, engine turned. A gold Watch, maker's narno Welstead, Landport, on face, and on outside of back the letters ' A. E. F.' aud on the inside ' Albert Flower.' A silver Geneva Watch, scratched on back ' J A.' with a small Locket attached on the Chain. A gold English hunting Watch ; a gold French ditto ditto, with ' Johnstone' and crest— a flying spur, on the back ; a gold double end Chain with cross bar ; aud an 18- carat gold snake Ring of three twists, with two small diamonds for the eyes. About 8 p. m. on the 29th ultimo, at Abbots Langley, Herts, John Rolfe was in a field digging potatoes, when lie was attacked by a man aud woman, who stole his Shoes from off his feet and left him insensible on the ground ( they are strong lace- up shoes, nearly new, tipped toe aud heel) : tbe man is named JOSEPH SMITH, 18 or 19 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, dark hair, fresh complexion, and single ; dressed in a black jacket, black corduroy trousers with straps round the legs ; he is a tinker; the woman, who is supposed to be his sister, was dressed in an old light stuff dress, black jacket, and black straw hat; she carried a bundle tied in an old blanket. Information to be given to Inspector Chapman, Police Station, Watford, Herts, who holds a warrant for the apprehension of the man Smith.— Bow- street, August 4. Stolen from the person of John Young, in Berwick- upon- Tweed, between 10 p. m. 26th and 12 30 a. m. on the 27th iustant : a double- case silver lever Watch, light- coloured dial, large black chapters, geld hands, steel seconds, small crack near chapter ' G,' maker Lumsden, No. 9677. Information to be giveu to Head Constable Garden, Berwick- upon- Tweed, Northumberland.— Bow- street, July 31. BUEGLAEY AND HOUSE BREAKING. Between 6 p. m. ou the 3rd, and 6 a. m. on the 4th in3t., a weaving shed at Westhoughton, near Bolton- le- Moors, Lancashire, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : about 80 yards of blue Silk ; about 70 yards of crimson ditto; and 4 pieces of different shades of brown Silk, all suitable for dress pieces. Information to be given to Superintendent Holland, County Police Office, Bolton, Lancashire.— Boic- st., August G. Between 12 30 a. m. and 7 a. m. on the 3rd inst. tbe dwelling- bouse of Mr. Thos. J. Perry, architect of St. Peter's Road, Handsworth, was broken aud entered, and stolen therein : one red and black woollen Table Cover, vine leaves and large size; one green coloured Table Cover ( woollen, ova)) ; one electro- plated Reel Stand, complete ( silver scissors.' & c. inside) ; 2 electro- plated Candlesticks; one pearl- covered C'arte- de- vislte Book; one leather ditto; three silk Umbrellas; aud oue small silver- plated Basket. Description of ALFRED NASH, late of Chew Magna, labourer, charged with breaking and entering the dwelling- house of the executors of the late John Webb, of Chew Stoke, iu the county of Somerset, on the 15th ultimo, and stealing therein three Coats, a pair of Trousers, a Vest, several Socks and Stockings, and a pair of cotton Drawers : about 24 years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, slight build, no whiskers, beard, or moustache, dark complexion, hair, and eyes ; was wearing one of the stolen coats ( a dark grey), with pockets outside, and on the right side is an imitation pocket. He has a military appearance, was recently discharged from the Army with ignominy, and may be wealing an old pair of military trousers. Supposed to have gone to Wales. Between 1 and 6 p. m. on the 29th ult., several cottages in the paiish of Salford, Warwickshire, were entered by means of picklock keys, aud stolen therein ; about £ 60 iu Gold and Silver; a sjlver verge Watch, No. 10717, maker J. Eborall, Warwick ; " a silver Geneva Watch, No. supposed to be 9256, maker T. Compton, Coventry; an old- fashioned sil ver Watch, No. 13839, a silver Guard attached ; an old- fashioned silver Watch, No. 136, maker Shell, Bristol; five old fasbir, ned silver Watches ; au old- fashioned gold Watch, maker Young;, London ; two large gold Brooches, one con- taiuiug $ he poitrait of a gentleman, the other the jirtrait of a lady, marked 1C. M.' and ' S. ;' two pairs of gold Ear- rings; a gold Wedding Ring ; and a silver Thimble. Supposed by a man about 26 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, florid complexion, light hair, sandy moustache, no whiskers ; dressed in a long dark coat, dark mixture trousers, high- crowned bat, and carried an umbrella; he can be identified. £ 20 reward will be paid to any person who will give such informati'. n as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of tbe offender or offenders. Information to be given to Superintendent Dunbar, Alcester, Warwickshire.— Bow- street, August 4. On the 27th instaut, between 11.30 am. and 7 p. m., the dwelling < f Paul Martin, of Hardwick, Bredon, Worcester- shire, was entered by means of picklock keys, and £ 17 in Gold, and au old- fashioned silver verge Watcb, with bull's- eye glass and steel Chain attached, were stolen therein. Supposed by two men, one about 50 years of age and about 5 ft. 9 ins. high ; dressed in dark clothes, low hat, and dark hair and whiskers, turning grey. The other about 27 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, light hair, whiskers and moustache, black sloth jacket, and dark trousers. They are supposed to have come from Birmingham. Information to be given to Superintendent Stanton, Police Office, Pershore, Worcester- shire. — Bow- street, July 30. HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Found at Leigh, on the 28th ultimo, and supposed to have been stolen : a light bay Mare, aged, 15 hands high, white face, two hind legs white, no shoes on behind, aud lame. Information to be given to Superintendent Lambert, Surrey Constabulary, Dorking. — Bow- street, August 6. The bay cart Horse, advertised iu the Police Gazette of ths 14th ultimo, supposed to have been stolen from Walsall, has been found, and restored to the owner. The black horse Pouy and black horse Cob, advertised at tbe same date, are still missing. £ 10 reward will be paid by the owner upon recovery of the horses and conviction of tbe offender or offenders. Information to be given to the Chief Constable of Walsall, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, August 6. Charged with horse- stealing, between tbe night of the 20tk aud morning of the 21st ult.. at Pimball, iu the parish of St. Ninians, Stirlingshire, WILLIAM DUNNING, sup- posed to be a native of Galloway : about 32 years of age, about 5 feet 5 high, fair hair and moujtacbe, sallow com- plexion, long and full face, large eyes, whiskers shaved off', stoutl i make, and leans forward when walking; he is a miner, but occasionally works as a carter, and at bay- cutting and farm work ; dressed iu a blue coat, dark trousers anu vest, aud balmoral bonnet. Stolen frcm a field in tbe borough of Sheffield, during tbe night of the 27th ultimo : a dark chestnut Pouy, 6 years old, 13£ hands high, white far hind leg, white spot on forehead, and a small white spot on tbe back. Information to be giveu at tbe Central Police Office, Sheffield.— Bow- street, August 4. Stolen from a field at Pontrilas, in the parish of Ewjas Harold, Herefordshire, between 8 p. m. on tbe 27th, and 6 a. m. on the 28th ultimo : five half- bred Southdown Lambs, in wool, grey faced, long tails, freshly marked on necks with blue, and pitch marked with ' M,' on right side, the property 2 P O L I C E G A Z E T T E. Obtained, on the 30th ult„ by fraud, from Havelock street, Islington : a dark brown gelding Pony, 13 hands high : a set of brass- mounted Harness, and a dark green Gig: by two men one 32 years of age, 5 feet 8 iuches high, dark com- plexion, hair, and whiskers ; dressed iu dark cloth jacket, and cap, and cord trousers, and had the appearance of a " horse coper "; the other, 40 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, dark complexion, hair, whiskers, and moustache ; dressed in grey suit, and black felt hat.— Metropolitan Police, Y Division, August 4. Stolen from a field at Birmingham, on the night of the 28th iustaut: an iron grey mare Pony, 3 years old, 13 hands high, white hind foot, wart inside near thigh, aud in good condition ; the property of Mr. Henry Cropper. £ 5 reward will be paid on recovery of the pony, and apprehension of the offender or offenders. Information to be given to Superin- tendent Carliue, County Police Office, Chesterfield.— Bow- street, July 31. Stolen on the night of the 26th, or morning of the 27th instant, from Hook House Farm, iu the parish of Newnham, Hants : a bay mare Pom', with black legs, mane, and tail, aged, 13i hands high, white stripe down forehead, aud has been recently dressed from withers to tail with a solution of brimstone, & c., the property of Edmund Robertson, Esq. Also stolen : a set of silver mounted Pony Hai nes3 and a light Spring Cart, painted black, nearly new. Whoever will give such information as Bhall lead to the conviction of tho offender or offenders, and the recovery of the property, to the Inspector of the Hants Constabulary, at Basingstoke, shall receive £ 25 reward.— Bow- street, July 30. Stolen during the night of the 26th instant, from a field at Yeading, Hayes : a bay Mare, thoroughbred, 15 hands high, aged, short tail, no shoes on hind feet, over at knees. By two men : one 40 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, dark complexion, hair, and whiskers ; the other about 30 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, dark complexion, hair, and whiskers ; both dressed in dark clothes, carried coats on their arms, and had the appearance of horse copers.— Metropolitan Police, X Division, July 30. Stolen from a stable at Cambridge town, Frimley, during tho night of the 26th instant : a dark chestnut half- bred saddle Mare, about 7 years old, 15 hands 2 inches high, roan mane and tail, flesh- coloured patch on nose, near hind foot and fetlock white : abo a brown Horse Cloth, with red and black stripes, and Roller to match. A reward of £ 20 will be given for the apprehension of the offender or offenders and recovery of the Mare. Information to be given to Superin- tendent Newland, Surrey Constabulary, Farnham.— Bow- street, July 30. Further description of the Horses stolen from Merton ( advertised in the Police Gazette of the 13th instant) : one is a dark brown Gelding, nearly 16 hands high, 7 years old, of high courage, quiet iu harness but net iu saddle, the mono- gram should be ' S. B. B.'; the other horse has a dimple on tie near hip. Supposed stolen by a man 40 years of age, 6 feet high, and dressed iu dark clothes and billycock hat. £ 50 reward will be paid on the recovery of the horses and apprehension of the offender or offenders.— Metropolitan Police, Y Division, July 30. Description of ALFRED PAULL, charged with stealing a silver Geneva Watch ( recovered), on the 18th ultimo, the property of Ann Hayward at Dorchester : about 26 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, slight saudy whiskers, hair cut short, nose slightly bent, and supposed to have a mark ou forehead ; dressed iu a black monkey jacket, with very large buttons, black trousers and vest, dark- coloured striped shirt, blue and white necktie, Dorset militia braces and boots, aud black round- top felt hat. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Coward, Borough Police Office, Guildhall, Dorchester, Dorset, who hold3 a warrant for his apprehension. — Bw- street, August 6. Description of ROBERT A. BOWEN, late of Great Clacton, Essex, a draper's assistant, charged with stealing a Book of Common Prayer from his late employer : about 35 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, dark hair and com- plexion, small moustache, oval face, rather foreign appearance, thick set, and occasionally wears glasses ; dressed in a blue coat, blue sergo or black trousers, sometimes wears a light melton overcoat, velvet skull cap or deerstalker hat. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Daunt, County Police Station, Colchester, or to Inspector Lennon, Thorpe, Essex, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bou- itree- t, August 6. Description of GEORGE EDWARD BATTYE, a clerk, who absconded from Goole on the 27th instaut, charged with embezzlement : 24 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fair complexion, light hair, small light whiskers and moustache, large head, the fore part prominent, and small eyes ; dressed in light mixtura or check trousers, dark cloth jacket aud vest ( honeycomb pattern), black felt billycock hat, and elastic- side boots. Information to be given to Inspector Goodall, West Riding Constabulary, Goole, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, Aug. 6. Absconded, on the 31st ult., from Purfleet Wharf, Chalk Farm Road, stealing £ 70, the monies of his employer : a man, 45 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, fiesh complexion, light hair, whiskers, and moustache, shaved under chin, slightly bald, walks very erect; dressed in black ribbed frock coat, dark vest and trousers, side spring boots, and high black hat. — Metropolitan Police, S Division, August 4. Absconded on the 20th ultimo, from high- street, Strat- ford, embezzling £ 8 4?. 6d. : a man, 24 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fair complexion, grey eyes, fair hair and mous- tache, and Bhaip features ; dressed in white slop, dark trousers, and hard felt hat.— Metropolitan Police, K Division, August 4. Absconded from Middlesborough, on the 28th ultimo, charged with embezzlement: a Scotchman, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, dark complexion, sharp features, brown hair, thin dark whiskers and moustache, proportionate buiid, and of smart appearance ; he generally dresses in a dark grey suit, and hard felt hat. lie has been manager for the Middlesborough Tramway Company. In- formation to be given to Chief Constable Saggerson, Middlesborough, Yorks.— Bow- street, August 4. Absconded from Minster, in the Isle of Thanet, charged with having, on the 26th June last, embezzled £ 10 7s., belonging to the overseers of the parish of Birchington : ANTHONY THOMAS COLLARD, a collector of poor rates for the Minster district of the Isle of Thanet Union, about 38 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, fair complexion, light hair aud moustache, proportionate make, and lisps slightly ; generally dressed in a light- coloured or brown suit; is a native of JV1 inster, and will probably try to emigrate. Information to be be given to Superintendent Stokes, Kent County Constabulary, Sandwich.— Bow- street, August 4. Absconded on the 29th ultimo, stealing £ 9 8s., the monies of his employer : a youth, 17 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, fair complexion ; dressed in black coat aud trousers, and Oxford bat.— Metropolitan Police, B Division, August 4. Absconded, embezzling £ 10, the monies of a Labour Protection Society, at Plaistow, to which he was secretary : a man, 34 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, dark complexion, black hair, curly moustache, tuft on chin, aud of Jewish appearance ; dressed iu dark grey suit, and felt hat.— Metro- politan Police, K Division, August 4. Absconded, embezzling £ 1 18s. 8d., at High- street, Camden Town : a man, 20 years of age, 5 feet 5J inches high, florid complexion, dark hair, slight moustache and whiskers, slightly bow legged ; dressed iu light coat, dark mixturo trousers, and high hat, with mourning band.— Metropolitan Police, S Division, August 4. Stolen on the 27th ultimo, from Riverbank, Shepperton: a suit of blue cloth Livery, silver buttons, crest — a greyhound out of a coronet; a silver hat Band ; a pair of top Boots ; and a grey cloth stable Suit. By a youth, 19 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, grey eyes, fair hair and complexion, pimples on face ; supposed dressed in stolen stable suit.— Metropolitan Police, T Division, August 4. Description of ROBERT KENT, charged with larceny as a bailee at Middlesbrough, on the 27th instant ( property recovered) : about 30 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, fresh complexion, full face, brown hair, no whiskers, and slight moustache ; dressed in a blue flat glass, keyless, 10 holes, 18 lines.
