INFORMATIONS. FORGERY. Obtained on the 8th ultimo, by means of uttering a forged Cheque, £ 39. By THOMAS PAYNE, of Burbidge- road, Hinckley, Leicester, 26 years of age, ruddy complexion, dark brown hair, whiskers aud beard shaved off; dressed in light plaid suit ; he is paralysed on one side. Warrant, issued.— Metropolitan Police, C Division, August 4. MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. The Body of a newly- born female Child was found on the line of the Cornwall Railway, in the borough of Plymouth, on the 10th uit., and a verdict of ' Wilful murder' returned at the coroner's inquest against some person or persons unknown. Her Majesty's Government offer a reward of £ 50 to any person who will give such information and ^ evidence as shall lead to the discovery and conviction of the murderer or murderers ; and Mr. Secretary Cross will advise the grant of Her Majesty's gracious pardon to any accomplice, not being the person who actually committed the murder, who will give such evidence as shall lead to the like result. Stolen from the person at Barnsley, on the 29th ultimo : a silver lever Watch, No. 38998, jewelled in eight holes, com- pensation balance, white dial with blacK numerals, and a iarge oval- linked gold Albert attached ; and four Sovereigns in Gold and about 9s. in Silver, lnfoimation to be given to Superintendent Sykes, West Riding Constabulary, Barnsley, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, August 4. Stolen from the person at Goodwood Races : A gold Watch, 1617, monogram ' J. W. O. S.' on back, maker Tifner and Co., New York, and horses head on front. A blue Chester Overcoat, velvet collar, and silk lining (£ 1 reward). A diamond Pin, gold, set in bird's claw (£ 5 reward). A gold Pin set with seven or eight diamonds, horse- shoe pattern. A double cased engine gold repeater Watch, inside glass broken, white enamel face, with a deep mark across the figure 6, as if cut with a knife. A gold Watch, open face, wreath of flowers round the face, engine turned. A gold Watch, maker's name Welstead, LaDdport, on face, and on outside of back the letters 1 A. E. F.' and on the inside ' Albert Flower.' A silver Geneva Watch, scratched on back ' J. A.' with a small Locket attached on the Chain. On the evening of the 27th instant, a lady was seriously assaulted and beaten, while passing under the railway ardh, which crosses Lover's- walk, in the parish of Preston, within the borough cf Brighton. About 8 p. m. on the 29th ultimo, at Abbots Langley, Herts, John Rolfe was in a field digging potatoes, when he was attacked by a man and woman, who stole his Shoes from off his feet and left him insensible on the ground ( they are evidence as will lead to the conviction of the offender or j strong lace- up shoes, nearly new, tipped toe and heel) : the offenders. Information to be given to Inspector Chapman, Police Station, Watford, Herts, who holds a warrant for the silver Watch, No. 13839, a silver Guard attached ; an old- fashioned silver Watch, No. 136, maker Shell, Bristol; five old- fashioned silver Watches ; an old- fashioned gold Watch, maker Young, London ; two large gold Brooches, one con- taining the portrait of a gentleman, the other the portrait of a lady, marked ' C. M.' and ' S. ;' two pairs of gold Ear- rings ; a gold Wedding Ring ; and a silver Thimble. Supposed by a man about 26 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, florid complexion, light hair, sandy moustache, no wtiiskers ; dressed in a long dark coat, dark mixture trousers, high- crowned hat, and carried an umbrella; he can be identified. £ 20 reward will be paid to any person who will give such information as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders. Information to be given to Superintendent Dunbar, Alcester, Warwickshire.— Bow- street, August 4. On the 27th instant, between 11.30 a. m. and 7 p. m., the dwelling « f Paul Martin, of Hard wick, BredoD, Worcester- shire, was entered by means of picklock keys, and £ 17 in Gold, and an old- fashioned silver verge Watch, with bull's- eye glass and steel Chain attached, were stolen therein. Supposed by two men, one about 50 years of age and about 5 ft. 9 ins. high; dressed in dark clothes, low hat, and dark hair and whiskers, turning grey. The other about, 27 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, light hair, whiskers and moustache, black sloth jacket, and dark trousers. They are supposed to have come from Birmingham. Information to be given to Superintendent Stanton, Police Office, Pershore, Worcester- shire. - Bow- street, July 30. Stolen on the morning of the 26th instant, by means of housebreaking, in Presten : 3s., two 4d.- Pieces, four 3d. ditto, and some Copper Monies ; also a silver lever Watch, No. 5642 or 5462, ' R. Absconded from Ipswich, on the 22nd instant, charged with entering warehouses in the occupation of Messrs. Harrison an- d Gislingham, upholsterers, & c., and stealing therein divers Articles of valuable property ( recovered) • JAMES BROWN, 33 years of age, 5 feet 4f inches iiighj swarthy complexion, round visage, dark hair and whiskers, rather thick lips, proportionate build, has a mole between his shoulders, four scars on left arm, and scar on right leg, and is rather nervous when spoken to ; dressed when last seen in brown overcoat, velvet collar, black cloth trousers, and soft felt hat. He has been driving a cab in Ipswich, aud has also worked with bricklayers, but will probably seek employment in the former capacity. Theae men arejprivates iu the Royal Marines, and in uniform, which, together with their belts, will probably be marked with blood. Description of ALFRED NASH, late of Chew Magna, labourer, charged with breaking aud entering the dwelling- house of the executors of the late John Webb, of Chew Stoke, and RICHARD THOMAS, about 22 years of iu the county of Somerset, on the 15th ultimo, aud stealing age", 5 feet 7 inches high, brown hair, no whiskers, aud has a j therein three Coats, a pair of Trousers, a Vest, several Socks lump over the left eye ; they are both dressed in cotton cord and Stockings, and a pair of cotton Drawers : about 24 years trousers, black coats aud vests, aud black billycock hats ; s of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, slight build, no whiskers, each carried a bundle. Stolen frcm a field in the borough of Sheffield, during the night of the 27th ultimo : a dark chestnut Pony, 6 years old 13^ hands high, white far hind leg, white spot on forehead) and a small white spot on the back. Stolen from a field at Pontrilas, in the parish of Ewyas Harold, Herefordshire, between 8 p. m. ou the 27th, aud 6 a. m. on the 28th ultimo : five half- bred Southdown Lsmbs in wool, grey faced, long tails, freshly marked on necks with blue, and pitch marked with ' M.' on right side, the property of Mr. Thomas Morgan. Obtained, on the 30th ult„ by fraud, from Havel » ck street, Islington : a dark brown gelding Pony, 13 haLds high : a set of brass- mounted Harness, and a dark greed Gig : by two men, one 32 years of age, 5 feet 8 iuches higlo, dark com- plexion, bair, aud whiskers ; dressed iu daik cloth jacket, aud cap, and cord trousers, and had the appearance of a " horse coper " j the other, 40 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches bigh, dark complexion, bair, whiskers, and moustache ; dressed in grey suit, and black felt hat.— Metropolitan Police, Y Division August 4. Stolen from a field at Birmingham, on the night of the 28th instant : au iion grey mare Pony, 3 years old, 13 hands high, white hind foot, wart inside near thigh, and iu good condition ; tbe property of Mr. Henry Cropper. £ 5 reward will be paid on recoverv of the pony, aud apprehension of the offender or offenders. The Body of Edward Howell, aged 13 years, was found in the Anfield Cemetery, Walton, on the 19th ultimo, and a verdict of ' Wilful murder' returned at the coroner's inmtest against some person or persons unknown. Her Ivldjesty's Government offer a reward of £ 100 to any person who will give such information aud evidence as shall had to the discovery aud conviction of the murderer or murderers, and Mr. Secretary Cross will advise the grant of Her means of picklock keys, aud stolen therein : about £ 60 iu Majesty's gracious pardon to any accomplice, not being the Gold aud Silver; a silver verge Watch, No. 10717, maker person who actually committed the murder, who will give J. Eborall, Warwick ; a silver Geneva Watch, No. supposed outside, and on tbe right side is au imitation pocket. H has a military appearance, was recently discharged from the Army with ignominy, and may be wearing an old pair of military trousers. Suppose! to have gone to Wales. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Emson, Somerset Constabulary, Temple Cloud, near Bristol. — Bow-, August 4. Between 1 and 6 p. m. on the 29th uit., several cottages the parish of Salford, Warwickshire, were entered by Stolen on the night of the 26th, or morning of the 27th instant, fiom Hook House Farm, in the parish of Newnham Hants : a bay mare Pony, with blaek legs, mane, and tail' aged, 13J hands high, white stripe down forehead, aud has been recently dressed from withers to tail with a solution of brimstone, & c., the property of Edmund Robertson, Esq. Also stolen : a set of silver mouuted Pony Harness and a light Spring Cart, painted black, nearly new. Whoever will give such information as shall lead to tbe conviction of the offender or offenders, aud the recovery of the property to the Inspector of the Hants Constabulary, at Basingstoke shall receive £ 25 reward.— How- street, July 30. ' Stolen during the night of the 26th iustant, from a field at Yeadiug, Hayes : a bay Mare, thoroughbred, 15 hands such evidence as shall lead to a like result. Information to jto be 9256, maker T. K ' I'T K. 4 + By two men : one 40 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, dark complexion, hair, and whiskers ; the other about 30 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, dark complexion, bair, and whiskers ; both dressed in dark clothes, carried coats on their arms, and had the appearance of horse copers.— Metropolitan Policy X Division, July 30. Stolen from a stable at Cambridge town, Frimley. during the night of the 26th instant : a dark chestnut half- bred saddle Mare, about 7 years old, 15 hands 2 inches high, roan mane and tail, flesh- coloured patch on nose, near hind foot and fetlock white ; also a brown Horse Cloth, with red and black stripes, and Boiler to match. A reward of £ 20 will be given for the apprehension of the offender or offenders and recovery of the Mare. Information to be given to Superin- tendent Newland, Surrey Constabulary, Farnham.— Bow- street, July 30. Further description of the Horses stolen from Merton ( advertised in the Police Gazette of the 19th instant) : one is a dark brown Gelding, nearly 16 hands high, 7 years old, of high courage, quiet in harness but not in saddle, the mono- gram should be ' S. B. B.'; the other horse has a dimple on the near hip. Supposed stolen by a man 40 years of age, 6 feet high, and dressed in dark clothes and billycock hat. £ 50 reward will be paid on the recovery of the horses and apprehension of the offender or offenders.— Metropolitan Police, V Division, July 30. Stolen from a field on the night of the 17th instant: a bay nag Horse, 5 years old, 14 hands 2 oi 3 inches high, has three white heels ( two behind), turns toes of forefeet out, cuts behind, short tail, and is low in the rump. By a man about 30 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, whiskers shaved off, has a scar about 2 inches long under right jaw, and a tuft of dark brown hair on chin ; dressed in a light brown cloth coat, two inside pockets in skirts, one inside left breast, two outside pockets, and a small ticket pocket in right side; is fond of singing in public- houses, is a good dancer, and has lately been travelling with a peep- show ; speaks with an Irish accent, knows Nottingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, & c., and speaks of having been to sea. He was seen • with the horse on the morning of the 18th instant near Nottingham, going towards Loughborough. £ 10 reward will be paid on recovery of the Horse and conviction of the offender or offenders. Information to be given to Superin- tendent Wynne, Spittlegate, Lincolnshire.— Bow- st., July 28. LARCENY MB EMBEZZIEMEIT Absconded, on the 31st uit., from Purfleet Wharf, Chalk Farm Road, stealing £ 70, the monies of his employer : a man, 45 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, fresh complexion, light hair, whiskers, and moustache, shaved under chin, slightly bald, walks very erect; dressed in black ribbed frock coat, dark vest and trousers, side spring boots, and high black hat. — Metropolitan Police, S Division, Auqust 4. Absconded on the 29th ultimo, from High- street, Strat- ford, embezzling £ 8 4s. 6d. : a man, 24 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fair complexion, grey eyes, fair hair and mous- tache, and sharp features; dressed in white slop, dark trousers, and hard felt hat.— Metropolitan Police, K Division, August 4. WILLIAM WALKER who absconded from Easington, charged with stealing £ 3 from his lodgings ( advertised iu the Police Gazette of 26th ultimo), has been apprehended.— Bow- street, August 4. Absconded from Middlesborough, on the 28th ultimo, charged with embezzlement: a Scotchman, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 iuches high, dark complexion, sharp features, brown hair, thin dark whiskers and moustache, proportionate build, and of smart appearance ; he generally dresses in a dark grey suit, and hard felt hat. He has been manager for the Middlesborough Tramway Company. In- formation to be given to Chief Constable Saggerson, Middlesborough, Yorks.— Bow- street, August 4. Absconded from Minster, in the Isle of Thanet, charged with having, on the 26th June last, embezzled £ 10 7s, belonging to the overseers of the parish of Birchington : ANTHONY THOMAS COLLARD, a collector of poor rates for the Minster district of the Isle of Thanet Union, about 38 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, fair complexion, light hair and moustache, proportionate make, and lisps slightly ; generally dressed in a light- coloured or brown suit; is a native of Minster, and will probably try to emigrate. Information to be be given to Superintendent Stokes, Kent County Constabulary, Sandwich.— Bow- street, August 4. Absconded on the 29th ultimo, stealing £ 9 8s., the monies of his employer : a youth, 17 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, fair complexion ; dressed in black coat and trousers, and Oxford hat.— Metropolitan Police, B Division, August 4. Absconded, embezzling £ 10, the monies of a Labour Protection Society, at Plaistow, to which he was secretary : nun, 34 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, dark complexion, black hair, curly moustache, tuft on chin, aud of Jewish appearance ; dressed in dark grey suit, and felt hat.— Metro- politan Police, K Division, Auqust 4. Absconded, embezzling £ 1 18s. 8d., at High- street, Camden Town : a man, 20 years of age, 5 feet 5£ inches high, florid complexion, dark hair, slight moustache and whiskers, slightly bow legged ; dressed in light coat, dark mixture trousers, and high hat, with mourning band.— Metropolitan Police, S Division, August 4. Stolen on the 27th ultimo, from Riverbank, Shepperton: a suit of blue cloth Livery, silver buttons, crest— a greyhound out of a coronet ; a silver hat Band; a pair of top Boots ; and a grey cloth stable Suit. By a youth, 19 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, grey eyes, fair hair and complexion, pimples on face ; supposed dressed in stolen stable suit.— Metropolitan Police, T Division, August 4. Description of ROBERT KENT, charged - with larceny as a bailee at Middlesbrough, on the 27th instant ( property recovered) : about 30 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, fresh complexion, full face, brown hair, no whiskers, and. slight moustache; dressed in a blue pilot jacket, fustian trousers, and soft black billycock hat; he is a native of Middleton, near Manchester, where he was in business as a rag and bone merchant, and left last March. Information to be given to Chief Constable Saggerson, Middlesbrough- on- Tees, Yorkshire, who holds a warant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, July 31. Absconded on the 22nd instant, from Nottingham, charged with Embezzlement: JOHN REEVE, a clerk and salesman in a corn warehouse, 25 years of age, 5 ft. 5 or 6 ins. high, fresh complexion, light brown hair, and no whiskers. He is supposed to have a considerable amount of money with him, and will probably endeavour to leave the country. £ 10 reward will be paid for such information as will lead to his apprehension, on application to Chief Constable Poyntz, Nottingham, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, July 30. ^ Absconded frojn. Burton Pidsea, on the 22nd instant, and stealing £ 80, the monies of the overseers of the poor: JOHN MORTON JOHNSON, schoolmaster, about 35 years of age, about 5 feet 10 inches high, sallow complexson, rather long face, high cheek bones, blind of one eye, slender build, walks erect, dark hair, moustache, and long beard, and a scar on the left side of the neck ; he had with him his daughter, between 4 or 5 years of age. Information to be given to Superinten- dent Watson, East Riding Constabulary, Sproatley, Hull, Yorkshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, July 30. Stolen from a bedroom at Leycett, in the parish of Madeley, Staffordshire, on the night of the 23rd instant, by JOHN HARRIS, a coflier, who lodged in the house, and absconded: 19s., a pepper- and- salt mixture cloth : et, with pockets on hips, ticket pocket on right side, and one inside left breast, black lining. He is a Welshman, about 23 years of age, about 5 feet 3 inches high, black curly hair, clean shaved, has a birth mark ( resembling a fig) on left side of neck, and a scar on chin ; dressed in the stolen jacket, old double- breasted grey cloth vest, black cotton cord trousers, blue cloth cap, with black and white " band and tuft on the top, and newly- soled clogs. Information to be given to Superintendent Crisp, Stone, or to Sergeant Blakeley, Madeley, Newcastle, Staffordshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, July 30.
