Bfotlce.— It is requested that all communications lor the purpose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolen property, may bear the Signature of the person requiring or sending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to the Editor, Police Court, Bow Street, London, W. C. *#* Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all abetters addressed to the Editor mast be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. The Names and Descriptions of Deserters from the Army, and of Absentees and Deserters from the Militia, should be forwarded en War Office Forms 88 and 88A, to the Editor, as above, for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE. And TERRENCE DOYLE, about 20 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, brown hair, no whiskers, large mouth, a native of Ireland, and a miner. Information to he given to Superintendent Oliver, Consett, Durham, who holds warrants for their apprehension.— Bow- street, July 21. give such information as shall lead to the conviction of the offender or offenders, and the recovery of the property, to the Inspector of the Hants Constabulary, at Basingstoke, shall receive £ 25 reward.— Bow- street, July 30. Stolen during the night of the 26th instant, from a field at Yeading, Hayes : a bay Mare, thoroughbred, 15 hands high, aged, short tail, no shoes on hind feet, over at knees. KIK'G had the appearance of horse copers.— Metropolitan Police, On the 27th instant, between 11.30 a. m. and 7 p. m., the X Division> JulV 30- dwelling ® f Paul Martin, of Hardwick, Bredon, Worcester- Stolen from a stable at Cambridge town, Frimley, during shire, was entered by means of picklock keys, and £ 17 in tho night of the 26 th instant: a dark chestnut half- bred Gold, and an old- fashioned silver verge Watch, with bull's- eye saddle Mare, about 7 years old. 15 hands 2 inches high, roan glas3 and steel Chain attached, were stolen therein. Supposed j mane and tail, flesh- coloured patch on nose, near hind foot by two men, one about 50 years of age and about 5 ft. 9 ins. j aud fetlock white ; also a brown Horse Cloth, with red and high ; dressed in dark clothes, low hat, and dark hair and ', black stripes, and Roller to match. A reward of £ 20 will be whiskers, turning grey. Thfe other about 27 years of age, ! given for the apprehension of the offender or offenders and about 5 feet 7 inches high, light hair, whiskers and moustache, ' recovery of the Mare. Information to be given to Superin- Surrey Constabulary, Farnham.— Bow • MUEBEE AND MALICXOUS& IT WOUIBOG, On the evening of the 27th iustant, a lady was seriously assaulted and beaten, while passing under the railway arch, which crosses Lover's- walk, in the parish of Preston, within the borough cf Brighton. A reward of ,£ 50 will be paid to any person or persons who will give such information and evidence as will lead to the conviction of the offender or offenders. Information to be given to Chief Constable White, Town Hall, Brighton.— Bow- street, July 30. Absconded, charged with wounding and inflicting grievous bodily harm upon Police Constable Richard CashforJ, in the execution of his duty, at Wingham, on the 24th inst. : WILLIAM HUBAND, 18 years of age, 5 feet 5£ inches high, fair complexion, light brown hair, blue eyes, and a native of Evesham, Worcester. And WILLIAM GREEN, 22 years of age, 5 feet 6 § ins. iigh, dark complexion, dark brown hair, grey eyes, has a scar on inner side and beneath right cheek bone, and a native of Canton, Cardiff, Glamorgan. These men are privates in the Royal Marines, and in uniform, • which, together with their belts, will probably be marked with blood. Absconded from Lineal, parish of Ellesmere, charged with unlawfully aud maliciously inflicting grievous bodily harm upon James Evans, of Hampton Bank, Ellesmere, on the night of the 24th instant: HENRY EVANS, alias HINES, about 20 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, sandy hair and whiskers, awkward gait, and turns his feet out very much ; and RICHARD THOMAS, about 22 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, brown hair, no whiskers, and has a lump over the left eye ; they are both dressed iu cotton cord trousers, black coats and vests, aud black billycock hats ; each carried a bundle. Further description of the Horses stolen from Merton ( advertised in the Police Gazette of the 19th instant) : one is a dark brown Gelding, nearly 16 hands high, 7 years old, of high courage, quiet in harness but not in saddle, the mono- gram should be ' S. B. B.'; the other horse has a dimple on the near hip. Supposed stolen by a man 40 years of age, 6 feet high, and dressed in dark clothes and billycock hat. £ 50 reward will be paid on the recovery of the horses and apprehension of the offender or offenders.— Metropolitan Police, V Division, July 30. Stolen from a field on the night of the I7th instant: a The Body of Edward Howell, aged 13 years, was found in the Anfield Cemetery, Walton, on the 19th ultimo, and a verdict of ' Wilful murder' returned at the coroner inquest against some person or persons unknown. Her Majesty's Government offer a reward of £ 100 to any person who will give such information and evidence as shall had to tho discovery and conviction of the murderer or murderers, and Mr. Secretary Cross will advise the grant of Her Majesty's gracious pardon to any accomplice, not being the person who actually committed the murder, who will give such evidence as shall lead to a like result. Information to be given to Superintendent Martin, County Police Station, Old Swan, near Liverpool.— Bow- street, July 26. Absconded, charged with cutting aud wounding police constable William H. Robinson, in the execution of his duty at Headley Hill: BENJAMIN ALLISON, 36 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches higb, fresh complexion, grey eyes, brown hair, cut short, no whiskers, full face, very stout figure, a native of West Auck- land, a miner aud married ; has two small blue marks on left temple, mole on left side of neck, a small blue mark between the eyes, and a small scar below left knee. JOHN CUNNINGHAM, 20' years of age, 5 ft. 9 or 10 ins. high, light brown hair, cut short, fair complexion, long face, " too whiskers, stout build, a native of Ireland, and a miner. PETER CUNNINGHAM, 22 or 23 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, broad face, brawn hair cut short, a native of Ireland, and a miner. black cloth jacket, and dark trousers. Stolen on the night of the 26th, or morning of the 27th instant, from Hook House Farm, in the parish of Newnham, Hants : a bay mare Pony, with black legs, mane, and tail, aged, 13^ hands high, white stripe down forehead, and has been recently dressed from withers to tail with a solution of brimstone, & c., the property of Edmund Robertson, Esq. Also stolen : a set of silver mounted Pony Hariuss and a light Spring Cart, painted black, nearly new. Whoever will dark complexion, hair, and whiskers, high cheek bones, slightly made, and very talkative when in drink ; dressed in a black cloth coat and trousers, light tweed vest, white calico shirt, black satin scarf with green spots, black billycock hat, and new lace- up boots or shoes. Attends cattle markets and fairs as a drover, and cuts ash sticks which he offers for sale in the fairs, and is well known at Cirencester aud Gloucester. Information to be given to Superintendent Lakin, County Police Station, Chip- pint; Norton, Oxon, who holds a warrant for his apprehension. — Bow- street, July 19.- Remanded at Stony Stratford Police Station till the 22ud instant, charged with horse stealing : ALFRED BELL, of the Greyhound Inn, 72, Ball's Pond- road, LondoD, 24 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, fair complexion, hazel eyes, light brown hair, and proportionate build ; dressed in a blue serge suit, black round hat, and low shoes; he has lately been working on the Grand Junction Canal with the steam tug ' Pioneer.' Absconded on the 22nd instant, from Nottingham, charged with Embezzlement: JOHN REEVE, a clerk and salesman in a corn warehouse, 25 years of age, 5 ft. 5 or 6 ins. high, fresh complexion, light brown hair, and no whiskers. He is supposed to have a considerable amount of money with him, and. will probably endeavour to leave the country. £ 10 reward wiil. be paid for such information as will lead to his apprehension, on application to Chief Constable Poyntz, Nottingham, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, July 30. Absconded from Burton Pidsea, on the 22nd instant, and stealing £ 80, the monies of the overseers of tbe poor: JOHN MORTON JOHNSON, schoolmaster, about 35 years o£ age, about 5 feet 10 inches high, sallow coraplexson, rather long face, high cheek bones, blind of one eye, slender build, walks < ereet, dark hair, moustache, and long beard, and a scar on the left side of the heck ; he had with him. his daughter, between 4 or 5 years of age. Information to be given to Superinten- dent Watson, East Riding Constabulary, Sproatley, Hull, Yorkshire, who holds a warrant fer his apprehension.— Bow- street, July 30. Stolen from a bedroom at Leycett, in tbe parish of Madeley, Staffordshire, on the night of tbe 23rd instant, by JOHN HARRIS, a collier, who lodged in the house, and has absconded : 19s., and a pepper- and- salt mixture cloth Jacket, with pockets on hips, ticket pocket on right side, and one inside left breast, black lining. He is a Welshman, about 23 years of age, about 5 feet 3 inches high, black curly hair, clean shaved, has a birth mark ( resembling a fig) on left side of neck, and a scar on chin ; dressed in the stolen jackec, old double- breasted grey cloth vest, black cotton cord trousers, blue cloth cap, with black and white band and tuft on the top, and newly- soled clogs. Information to be given to Superintendent Crisp, Stone, or to Sergeant Blakeley, Madeley, Newcastle, Staffordshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Boio- street, July 30. Absconded on the 26th instant, from Holloway- road, embezzling £ 4 7s. 6d. : a man, 26 years of age, 5 feet II inches high, fair complexion, light hair, whiskers, and moustache, and dressed in light mixture trousers, white slop, and round felt hat.— Metropolitan Police, Y Division, July 30. Absconded from the borough of Middlesbrough, on the 24th instant, charged with stealing a silver lever Watch, No. 55897, ' P. Kelledy' engraved on inner case, and had attached a long Gold Guard with round and square links. By a man who lodged at the same house, named JAMES McCUMMISKY, alias JAMES McCLUSKIE, a tailor, about 35 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches, stout make, sallow complexion, black hair, thin on top of head, whiskers down • side of face, cut out on chin, and a native of Ireland; dressed in black coat, dark tweed trousers, black felt hat, elastic- side boots. Information to be given to Chief Constable Saggerson, Middlesbrough, Yorkshire, who holds a warrant for his appre- hension.— Bow- street, July 28. GEORGE alias RICHARD GORDON ( described in the Police Gazette of the 10th May last, charged at Coventry with stealing Clothing, & c., from hotels) has been apprehended and remanded until the 31st instant. In his po3sessi< n was found a blue twilled cloth waikiog Coat, of superior material and manufacture, gwith black silk lining, hook and eye at waist, and two pieces of elastic to hold flowers at tbe back of top button hole. Information to be given to Head Constable NOrris, Police Office, Coventry, Warwickshire.— Bou.- nreet, July 28. Stolen from a money drawer in a shop at Bolton, on the 21st instant : £ 10 in Gold and Silver. By a man about 20 years of age, who had lodged at the house a short time ; 5 feet 6 inches high, rather stoutly built and long features, light hair, and no whiskers or moustache ; dressed in old dark grey shooting coat, old dirty moleskin trousers, cloth cap with peak, and heavy clogs. He stated that he had been residing at Southport, jobbiDg about, and occasionally assisting the horse drivers. Stolen from another money drawer in Bolton, on the night of the 25th instant : about £ 12 in Geld and Silver. By a youth who formerly resided at the place, and assisted in the shop as a greengrocer, & c.; about 17 years of age, about 5 ft. high, short light hair, pale complexion, proportionate make, aud may be dressed in black clothes. He has cmimitted similar offences elsewhere, and spent the money at Blackpool, Southport, & c. Also stolen on the 21st instant: a silver lever Watch, maker Wm. Agar, Bury, No. 102, engine- turned cases, and much worn. Information to be given to Chief Constable Beech, Polton, Lancashire.— Bow- street, July 28. Absconded on the 20th instant, from New Quebec- street, embezzling £ 5 5s. 4d.: a man, 43 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, sallow complexion, dark hair and whiskers, and slight build ; dress in black coat, light grey overcoat, and high black hat.— Metropolitan Police, D Division, July 28. Description of WILLIAM GARLAND, alias WM. DIXON, charged with stealing £ 3 from his lodgings at New Brighton, on the 18th instant : 19 or 20 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, fresh complexion, red hair, blue eyes, sunburnt, very straight, and good figure ; dressed in dark coat and vest, dark tweed trousers, cap with French peak, and lace- up boots ; he will probably seek employment as an assistant photographer ; he talked about St. Bees, Cumberland, and he has also been in Woolwich. Information to be given to Superintendent Egerton, County Police Station, Abbey- street, Birkenhead, or to Inspector Hindley, Sessions House, Egremont, Cheshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, July 26. Absconded from Easirgton, on the 19th instaEt, charged with stealing £ 3 from his lodgings : WILLIAM WALKER, a tramping shoemaker, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, fresh complexion, dark brown hair, slender make, has a large red birth mark on right cheek, extending to his neck, and is a native of Malton, Yorkshire ; dressed in a blue pilot jacket, dark vest, grey mixture trousers, felt hat, elastic- side boots, and black and white necktie. Information to be given to Superintendent Scott, Police Station, Castle Eden, Durham.— Bow- street, July 26. Charged with stealing twenty- four sash Weights, • recovered ; a bricklayer's labourer, 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, proportionate build, sallow complexion, thick lips, slight brown whiskers, and walks lame of right foot; dressed in an old grey coat, dirty fustian trousers, laced boots, and woollen Scotch cap, with a peak. Informa- tion to be given to Chief Constable Saggerson, Middiesboro', Yorkshire.— Bow- street, July 26. Description of WILLIAM ISHERWOOD, a tramping watchmaker and native of Bolfcofi, charged with stealing a Watch and the Movements of a Watch, which was entrusted to him to be cleaned and repaired; about 40 years of age, about 5 feet 10 inches high, slightly pockpitted, and red nose and face. He wears . long brown tweed coat and billycock hat, and is supposed to have gone to Liverpool. Information to be given to Superintendent Owen, Holyhead, Anglesey.— Bow- street, July 26. Stolen from a dwelling- house in Middlesbol'dUgh, about 7 a. m. on tbe 24th inst. : a silver lever Watch, ' P. Kelledy ' eagraved outside of inner case, had a long gold neck Chain attached, with round and square links. By a man, about 35 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, rather stout build, dark whiskers, a tailor, and a hative of Ireland ; dressed in black cloth cutaway coat, dark tweed trousers, black felt billycock hat, and elastic- side boots, one of which ha3 a hole in the side. Information to " be given to Chief Constable Saggerson, Middlesborough, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, July 23. Description of GEORGE WRIGGLESWORTII, who is charged with embezzlement: about 35 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, medium build, fresh complexion, thin dark hair, and slight dark whiskers ; generally wears a frock coat and a silk hat; he is a commercial traveller. Description of THOMAS PAGE and RUTH PAGE, charged ( with JESSE PAGE MERYCK, who is in custody), with conspiring and defrauding a lady named Westbrook of £ 911, at Ivnowle, in the county of Warwick : Thomas Page is from 35 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches high, black hair and bushy whiskers turning grey, rather ruddy face, square build, walks veiy erect, is well educated, and of gentlemanly appearance ; wears a gold ring on each little finger, one with a green stone, and the other a red one, also a gold watch and albert chain, the watch bears the following inscription : ' Presented to Mr. Arthur by a few of his commercial friends, August lst, 1865.' Page and the woman Ruth Page, who passes as his wife, have been living at Broadstairs up to the lst instant, prior to that at Southsea ; he has been employed at the Educational Department, Whitehall. He deposited a cheque for £ 75 on the Imperial Bank, London, payable to self, and signed W. Howard. He received from Messrs. On the 21st instant, the Body of a woman, apparently from 30 to 40 years of age, medium size, little dark hair on top of head, was found in the River Aire, at Airmyn. The body had been in the water several months, the left hand, left foot, and the fingers of the right hand were missing, and the features could not be recognised. He was convicted at Maidstone on the 13th March, 1871, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude for uttering Counterfeit Coin at Bromley, and was discharged from Woking Prison on the 6th instant.
