INFORMATIONS. MURDSB AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. Description of THOMAS TIERNEY, who is charged " with causing the death of a man whilst fighting with him on the night of the 16th instant, in Sheffield : about 25 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, dark complexion, dark brown hair, very stoutly built, his nose has been broken, and has lost a portion of first right finger; he is a slater, and was • dressed in dark coat and vest, cotton cord trousers, and low felt hat. lie may be accompanied by a little woman, about 25^ ears of age. He is a native of Birmingham. Informa- tion to be given to Chief Constable Jackson, Central Police Office, Sheffield,— Bou- sireet, June 30. Description of PATRICK McGOWAN, who absconded from the borough of Middlesborough on the 24th instant, charged with assaulting and inflicting grievous bodily harm on one David Conway, labourer : he is 25 years of age, 5 feet 5| inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, small light whiskers and moustache, nose rather large and sharp at end, stoutly huilt, has a scar © n left cheek, is a labourer, and a native of Leitrim, Ireland; generally dressed in a suit of dark clothes and hard felt hat. Description of THOMAS ROURKE, a brush hawker, charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm upon Hugh Mohan, on the 12th instant: about 33 years of age, 5 feet to be given to Chief Constable Cook, Hull, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, June 28. Stolen from the person on the 23rd instant: a silver lever Watch, No. 10073, maker Metcalf, Preston, on dial. By a man, about 25 years of age, low set, swarthy com- plexion, small eyes, no whiskers, and is supposed to be a foreigner; dressed in light grey suit, and light billycock hat. Stolen from the person at Henley Railway Station, on the 23rd instant: a gold Watch, No. 376, maker Desbois, London. Stolen from the person on the 21st instant, at Stourport Fete and Races : a silver open- face lever Watch, maker William Cooke, Stourport, No. 1126. Information to be given to Superintendent Baby, Stourport, Worcestershire.— Bow- street, June 25. Stolen from the person at Henley Regatta, on the 23rd instant: A black leather double Field Glass, maker' Elliot, Lon- don.' A reward of £ 1 will be paid on its recovery and conviction of the offender. A gold hunting Watch, engraved flowers on one side of case, a place for crest to be engraved, maker's name ' Catherwood, London.' An open- face ( white enamel) gold Watch, maker's name ' Rowell, Oxford' Information to be given to Superintendent Iremonger, Berks Constabulary, Maidenhead.— Bow- street, June 25. Stolen, on the 17th inst., from the person of a gentleman : a heavy gold hunting Watch with seconds hands, white enamelled dial, plain cases, maker ' M. Friedman' on inner case. Information to be given to Superintendent Knight, Borough Police Office, Beverley, Yorks.— Bow- st., June 21. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. During the night of the 27th instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. William Goodyer, Station- street, West Bromwich, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : a black velvet Jacket; a light brown cloth Jacket; a dark grey waterproof Cloak ; a scarlet and black Table Cover ; two lir. en Table Cloths ; 4J yards of grey dress Material ; a lady's Satchel, with Purse, containing 10s. ; a baby's drab cloth Cloak ; two pairs of Stockings ; three Chemises; and a blue Feather. Information to be given to Superintendent Woollaston, Police Office, West Bromwich, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, June 30. _ Early on the morning of the 27th instant, the residence of the Chaplain of the County Gaol at Aylesbury, was broken Odiham, Hants, was entered between 2 and 4 p. m. on the 22nd instant ( the race day), by means of picklock), and the following property stolen therein: a Cream Pot and two Table Spoons, silver, marked ' V.'; a Ladle, four Dessert and four Tea Spoons, silver; two large plated Brooches ; a small gold to ; a lady's gold Watch Chain ; a gold Locket, con- taining Hair, with a Guinea attached; two Necklaces; about £ 2 in Silver ; and a pair of gold wire Bracelets, I inch wide, the snap of one broken and repaired with yellow thread. Two men of the following description were seen on the premises about the time the offence was committed : one about 40 years of age, tall, stoutly built, sandy whiskers, and dressed in dark cloth jacket and high- crowned hat; the other was 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, thin pale face, small light whiskers, and was wearing a dark speckled cloth jacket. Also stolen, during the afternoon of the same day, in the dwelling- house of George Windle, of North Warnborougb, Odiham, which was entered by a skeleton key: two silver Table Spoons; six silver Tea Spoons, five marked ' G. M. L.', the other ' G. M. P. a pair of silver Sugar Tongs, marked ' G. M. L.'; and a gold Watch Chain, curb pattern. Information to be given to Superintendent Stephenson, Hants Constabulary, Aldershot.— Bow- street, June 28. Stolen between 12 midnight and 6 a. m,, on the 17th inst., by means of burglary : two silver cups, viz. one large size with two handles, and inscription, as follows, " Presented to Edward Winship by a few friends for his honest and manly conduct as an oarsman, April 12, 1874"; the other, smaller size, with two handles, plain made, no inscription on it. Information to be given to Chief Constable N icholls, Newcastle- on- Tyne.— Bow- street, June 21. inches high, fair complexion, nose rather flat, with wide and entered, and stolen themn : a pair of lace- up Boots, toe- nostrils, light brown hair, no whiskers or moustache, and proportionate build; dressed in a brown cloth reefing jacket, cotton cord t. ousers, imitation sealskin or turban cap, with- out peak, or may be wearing a dark grey coat and vest, and old cloth trousers ; is generally accompanied by a woman. He has a pedlar's certificate, granted at Middlesborough, November 9th, 1874. Information to be given to Chief Constable Saggerson, Middlesborough, who holds a warrant for his aprehension.— Bow- street, June 21. FORGERY. Absconded on the 12th ultimo, charged on a warrant with forgery : ROBERT GORDON COLEMAN, late of No. 3, Ravensworth - terrace, Fulham, 40 - years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, dark hair, sallow complexion, small moustache, and false front teeth ; dressed respectably. In- formation to be given to Inspector Bailey. City of London Police Force, Detective Depart ment, 26, Old Jewry, B. C. Bow- street, June 18, capped and clumped ; four electro- plated Salt Spoons, and one Table ditto, beaded pattern ; a rump Steak, loaf of Bread, and a Bottle of Brandy. Supposed by an Irishman, a tramp, 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, light complexion, and small whiskers and beard ; dressed in a ragged greycoat, dirty light trousers, and billycock hat. He carries a short stick, and sings at beer- houses. Information to be given at the Police Station, Aylesbury, Bucks.— Bow- street. June 30. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Stolen from the person by a fellow- lodger whilst sleeping in an outbuilding at Laceby Farm, Standedge, between 12 and 4 a. m. on the 25th instant : a silver lever Watch, No. 4,010, maker's name Rodolph, London, had white dial, sunk seconds, and steel hands; attached was a gold plated Albert Guard, snake pattern, and a Locket, bible pattern; pair of watertight Boots, newly heeled, right boot toe- bitted and fastened on with clog nails, and the left one worn off at the toe. By a tramp, a winder in a cotton mill, who was hay- making on the farm, about 33 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, sallow complexion, pimpled nose, from drink, blue eyes, short dark hair, moustache, and slender build; dressed in dark cloth coat and vest, dirty moleskin trousers, all much worn, billycock hat, and wearing the stolen boots; has worked in mills in the neighbourhood of Oldham, Ashton, and Stalybridge. Information to be given to Inspector Whincup, West Riding Constabulary, Saddleworth, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, Jvpfi 30. Stolen from the person of a gentleman, when in a railway train between York and Thirsk, on the 18th instant : a gold Watch, No, 1804, with gold Albert attached. Information Between 6 p. m. on the 26th and 5' 30 a. m, on the 27th instant, the offices at Phoenix Mill, Blackburn, were broken and entered, and stolen therein, the property of Mr. William Shaw, manager : A silver lever Watch, chronometer balance, jewelled in every action, sunjc seconds, Not 920. An American silver/ lever Watch, engine- turned case, white dial, blue^ steel fingers, makers Whittam and Moss ( Fogg's Patent), No. 741011. A silver lever or Geneva Boston- Watch, white dial, engine- turned case, blue steel fiDgers, sunk seconds, jewelled in eight holes. A gold Guard, open- pattern, much worn. . A gold Albert Guard,- close pattern, 9 carats. 2 gold Seals, one wUfh round cut glass in centre. 5 pairs of light steel Spectacles, dipped with white wax at ends. 4 round steel Cutters. About £ 2 15s. in Money. Information to be given to Chief Constable Potts, Town Hall, Blackburn, Lancashire.— Bow- street, June 30. HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Stolen from a stable at Livesey, about 4 a. m. on the 28th instant: a bright bay cart Mare, about 15 hands 1 inch high, white face and hind legs, wall eye on right side, 4 years old, and in good condition ; also stolen a Saddle and Bridle. A man was seen riding the above mare towards Brindle, and is supposed to have gone in the direction of Ormskirk and Liverpool. Information to be given to Superintendent Read, County Police Office, Blackburn, Lancashire.— Bow- street, June 30. Stolen from a field in Middlesborough, on the night of the 27th instant: a light brown mare Pony, aged, 13£ hands high, slack backed, both hind feet white, grey about face, and has a patch of grey just above the hock of right hind leg, long thin switch tail, and in fair condition. Information to be given to Chief Constable Saggerson, Middlesborough.— Bow- street, June 30. Stolen from a field at Maidenwell, near Louth, the pro- perty of G. H. Browne, Esq.: five Lambs, marked ' B' on the near side, between the 19th and 26th instant. Whoever will give such information as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders, and recovery of the Lambs, shall receive £ 1 7s. reward. Information to be given to Superintendent Thorsby, County Police Station, Louth, Lincoluahire.— Bow- street, June 30. Stolen from a field in the borough of Walsall, during the night of the 22nd instant, a bright bay half- bred Horse, 15 hands high, aged, lame in right foot, and in good condi- tion ; and a dark brown Pony, 13 hands high, aged, in good condition. Information to be given to Chief Constable Cater, Police Office, Walsall, Staffordshire.— Bow- st., June 28. Stolen, on the 24th inst., by means of house- breaking : one pair of black cloth Trousers, man's size ; one pair of dark grey mixture Trousers; one pair of slate- coloured ditto, narrow stripes ; one dark mixture tweed Overcoat; one pair of Levant Boots, elastic sides, nearly new; two white felt Hats; one ladies' black velvet Jacket; one trimmed with beaver fur ; one large size silver plated Teapot; one small silver Cruet; two pairs of silver sugar Tongs, one quite new, the other part worn, marked I. S. R. ; two dozen silver Tea- spoons, one dozen marked I. S. R.; four Table Spoons ; two children's silver- plated Mugs ; two dozen plated Forks ; two Salt Spoons ; one small Telescope ; and a pair of Opera Glasses ; two dozen ivory- hafted Knives ; and one dozen with fluted handles. Information to be given to Superinten- dent Hunt, Central Police Office, Town Hall, Leeds.— Bow street, June 28. The dwelling- house of James S. Gower, of Hook, near Stolen from Whitley Common, near Coventry, on the 10th instant: a dark brown Pony, about 12 hands higb, short busby mane, black legs, bang tail, white mark on back, and two small white marks on back of fore legs. Whoever will give such information that will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders and recovery of the pony shall receive £ 2 reward. Information to be given to Superintendent Palmer, Kenilworth, Warwickshire.— Bow- street, June 28. - Stolen from a field at Aldwark Manor Farm, on the 23rd or 24th instant: a light roan- coloured Heifer, about 2 years old, of the pure short horn breed, the property of Major Cochrane. I£ stolen, a reward of £ 5 will be given to any person giving information to lead to the recovery of the beifer, and conviction of the offender or offenders. Informa- tion to be given to the Superintendent of Police, North Riding Constabulary, Heworth, or to Inspector Eilerby, Easingwold, Yorkshire.— Bovi- street, June 28. Stolen on the 19 th instant, from a field at Highbury Hill: a dark grey Russian mare Pony, 3 years old, 13 hands high, long tail, off hind hock white, carries its head forward, and short nose. Supposed by a man dressed in dark clothes. — Metropolitan Police, Y Division, June 28. Stolen from a stable at Stanhope Nursery, Cudham, during the night of the 24th instant : a grey Mare, 16 hands high, 6 years old, scar on near shoulder, bruised on both hocks, outside of near hock- bone a little thick, and tail cut square. Information to be given to Superintendent O'& ill, Police Court, Sevenoaks, Kent.— Bow- street, June 28. Stolen from a field at Fenny Stratford, on the night of the 24th instant : a dark brown nag Mare, 14| hands high, 9 years old, a fast trotter, black legs, mane, and tail, white star on forehead, near fore shoe worn down ; an old- fashioned spring Gig, painted black with a little green intermixed, seat and two cushions, drab colour ; a brown- handled Gig Whip ; 2 POLICE GAZETTE, June 30 a set of blaek Harness, brown collar with brass terrets ; and a pair of Reins, much worn; the property of Mr. Thomas Hammond, farmer. Two men passed through Dunstable about 2- 30 a. m. on the 25th instant, with a horse and gig corresponding with the above, and were going in the direction of London; the men were of the following description : one about 30 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, stout, and dressed in dark clothes and black billycock hat; the other about 21 years of age, thin, and dressed in dark clothes and black billycock hat; the clothes of both men were shabby. _ £ 10 reward will be paid to any person who will give such infor- mation as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders and recovery of the property. In- formation to be given to Superintendent Hedley, Police Station, Penny Stratford, Bucks.— Bow- street, June 28. ' Stolen from a fold on Poulton Farm, near Marlborough, the' property of Mr. John Tanner, between the 8th and 18th instant: 33 Ewes, some four and six- tooth, and others full- mouthed, not shorn, marked ' T,' either on the near shoulder, side, or hip, and some on the off side ; also 39 Chilver Tegs, not shorn, marked ' T' on the near hip. Whoever will ^ ive such information as shall lead to the apprehension and con- viction of the offender or offenders and recovery of the sheep, shall receive £ 100 reward. Information to be given to Mr. Tanner, or to Deputy Chief Constable Stretten, Marl- borough, Wilts.— Bow- street, June 25. Stolen from a field at East Moulsey, during the night of the 14th instant: a bay Cob Horse, chipped knees, grey hairs on face, scar on left cheek, in good condition, and a mahogany vllliage Cart, new shafts, wheels varnished, and a set of plated silver mounted Harness. By two men, one 24 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, dark complexion, hair, whiskers, and moustache, and stoutly built; the other is 20 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, dark complexion, small dark mous- tache. Both were dressed in ribbed coat and trousers, and soft felt hats, having the appearance of gipsey horse dealers. .— Metropolitan Police, V Division, June 25. A red shorthorn Bullock, fat, worth £ 25, and having ' Lot 93' stuck on the rump, disappeared fiom the sale yard of Messrs. Rainbird and Son on the night of the 16th instant, and is supposed to have been stolen. Information to be given to Head Constable Hibberd, Basingstoke, Hants.— jBow- street, June 23. Description of a man charged with Cattle Stealing, at Sheffield, on the 17th instant, the Cattle since recovered ; he is apparently from 27 to 30 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, dark complexion, face sunburnt, and one eye bloodshot; dressed in dark clothes, strong heavy boots, and wore a black flat- topped cap with peak. He represented himself to be an under- viewer in a colliery, which is believed to be untrue. Information to be gi ven to Chief Constable Jackson, Sheffield. — Bow- street, June 23. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT. Absconded on the 26th instant, embezzling £ 50, the monies of his; employers : a man 28 years of age, 5 feet 6 ins. high, dark complexion, dark brown hair and whiskers, slight impediment in speech; dressed in dark blue cutaway coat, dark blue trousers, dark striped vest, and dark felt hat.— Metropolitan Police, W Division, June 30. Description of JOHN JONES, native of Pwllheli, Carnarvonshire, slate quarryman, late a pollier's labourer at Mold, charged at Mold, on a warrant, with larceny : he is 22 or 23 years of age, 5 feet 6 or' 7 inches high, dark com- plexion, dark hair, and small dark moustache, high cheek bones, and no doubt he will be accompanied by a woman, 36 years of age, low set, dark| hair, large features, high cheek bones, and rosy cheeks ; supposed to have gone to Liverpool, or to the colliery districts in Lancashire ; they left Mold on the morning of the 23rd inst. Information to be given to Inspector Minshull, Mold, Flintshire.— Bow- street, June 30. Absconded from the Shrewsbury Penitentiary, on the 24th instant, charged on a warrant with stealing therefrom : two plaid woollen Shawls ( grey, blaek, and white) ; two pairs of Stays ; a brown striped Dress ; a white Petticoat, marked « M. S. M.;' a flannel ditto, marked ' S. M.;' a lady's Frock, marked ' Wright;' a pair of striped Stockings, marked ' S. S.;' a pair of women's Parisian Boots, six buttons up the front; a speckled straw Hat, with black velvet band ; a brown alpaca " Umbrella, marked inside with maker's name, ' Bishop, Bristol;' a light sealskin Purse ; and a pair of plated Ear- rings : CLARA GRANVILLE, alias CATHERINE GRAHAM, alias GORDON, alias GREENWAY, alias GREEN, alias WENIFORD DOUGLAS, about 27 years of age, 5 feet 1 inch high, fresh complexion, face sun freckled, dark eyes, coarse black hair, slit iu centre of lower lip, and proportionately built; dressed in black dress and polonaise, and is supposed to be wearing some of the stolen articles ; she will no doubt endeavour to get admittance into some home, refuge, or workhouse. £ 1 reward on conviction. In- formation to be given to Head Constable Davies, Shrewsbury, Salop, who holds a warrant for her apprehension,— Bow- street, June 30. Stolen from a barn on the South Brink, Wisbech, early on the 16th instant: six fleeces of Lincoln Wool, which were sold at Boston the same day, and have been recovered. By a man, 30 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, little or no whiskers, full face, cheeks rather sunken; dressed in velveteen, or a rusty- coloured monkey cloth jacket, cotton cord trousers, and rough cap with straight peak; he appears to be well acquainted with the price of wool, and can be identified. Information to be given to Superintendent Sharpe, Borough Police, Wisbech, Cambs.— Bow- street, June 28. Stolen from the Northern Hotel, about 6 p. m. on the 22nd instant: a brown tweed dust Coat. By a man, about 20 years ® f age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, short dark brown hair, dark complexion; dressed in fustian jacket and trousers, wears a short white slop underneath the jacket, strong navvy boots, and carried a canvas bag, which appeared to contain clothes ; he was traced to Murrow, Cambridgeshire, thence to Wisbeach; it is believed that be is a native of near Wisbeach. Information to be given to Superintendent Leaper, County Police Station, Spalding, Lincolnshire.— Bow- street, June 28. Description © f GEORGE TURNER, who absconded on the 15th instant, charged with stealing £ 2 Cash, four Pocket Handkerchiefs, . and other articles, from a box in a fellow- lodger's room : 27 years of age, 5 feet 8J inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, dark hazel eyes, tattooed with the marks— cross flags, ' C. T. 18,' underneath left arm, ' E. K.' on left wrist, anchor on left hand, five blue dots between finger and thumb, and rings on three fingers of left hand, scars on back of neck, and a hole in left cheek. He was discharged from Parkhurst Prison on licence the 20th April last; was sentenced to 7 years penal servitude at Chelmsford on the 21st October, 1869, for burglary ;- has been a soldier, and will probably seek employment as a navvy on railways. Information to be given to Head Constable Ross, Borough Police Station, Newport, Isle of Wight, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, June 25. Absconded, charged with having, at Ely, on the 14th J an. last, embezzled £ 79 18s. 6d., the monies of Cornell Fison, and others, merchants, of Thetford, Norfolk: CRANE GOLDSMITH, a merchant's clerk, between 45 and 50 years of age, about 5 feet 6 inches high, dark brown hair, short behind, bald on top of head, large brown whiskers and mous- tache, has two false front teeth fastened in with gold wire, which can be seen when he speaks ; he walks in a bustling manner, and swings his right arm very much. He took tiain at Brandon on the 18th instant, and passed through Ely, going towards London; he is l> kely to emigrate, having formerly lived in America has relatives at Clapham Cammon, Camberwell, and iif Hertfordshire, and he is known in market towns in Herts. Essex, Cambs, Norfolk, and Suffolk. £ 10 reward will Wpaid to any person giving such information to Superintendent SmP. h, Ely, Cambridgashire, as will lead to his apprehension.— Bow- street, June 25. Description of SAMUEL WELLDEN, a tailor, charged with stealing a silk Umbrella, two soft felt Hats. 18 yards of tweed Cloth, thirty- two pairs of kid Gloves, and a quantity Wearing Apparel ( since recovered) : he is about 27 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, light complexion, light short hair and whiskers, slight moustache, full eyes, slight make, talks quickly, and with a Yankee accent, having been in America; dressed in a dark morning coat and vest, light Cheviot tweed trousers, patent leather spring- side boots with ivory buttons, hard felt hat, striped Oxford shirt, and scarf, black ground with a small white spot; he may apply to first- class tailors for employment. £ 5 reward.
