MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUIDIIG, Description of THOMAS ROURKE, a brush hawker, charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm upon Hugh Mohan, on the 12th instant: about 33 years of age, 5 feet inches high, fair complexion, nose rather flat, with wide nostrils, light brown hair, no whiskers or moustache, ancl proportionate build ; dressed in a brown cloth reefing jacket, cotton cord t/ ousers, imitation sealskin or turban cap, with- out peak, or may be wearing a dark grey coat and vest, and old cloth trousers ; is generally accompanied by a woman. He has a pedlar's certificate, granted at Middlesborough, November 9th, 1874. Information to be given to Chief Constable Saggerson, Middlesborough, who holds a warrant for his aprehension.— Bow- street, June 21. Absconded from France, 13th of April last, charged with murdering her child: MARIE ANATOLE MAZIER, a widow, maiden name BESNEHARD, 30 years of age, about 5 feet high, dark hair, grey eyes, small mouth, and large flat foreheafl. Stolen between 12 midnight and 6 a. m., on the 17th inst., by means of burglary : two silver cups, viz. one large size with two handles, and inscription, as follows, 11 Presented to Edward Winship by a few friends for his honest and manly conduct as an oarsman, April 12, 1874"; the other, smaller size, with twc. handles, plain made, no inscription on it. Absconded on the 12th ultimo, charged on a warrant with forgery : ROBERT GORDON COLEMAN, late of No. 3, Ravensworth - terrace, Fulham, 40 years of age, 5 feet 8 inahes high, dark hair, Ballow complexion, small moustache, and false front teeth ; dressed respectably. Description of CHARLES WILLIAM LOVATT, silk . manufacturer, who absconded from Leek, about the 20th ult., charged with forging a Bill, to the amount of £ 15 : he is about 28 years of age, 6 feet 1 inch high, pale complexion, dark brown hair and whiskers, meeting under the chin, broad shoulders, and walks rather slovenly, aud with his head forward ; dressed in dark clothes ; he has been in America. Information to be given to Superintendent Williams, Leek, Staffordshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— .— Bow- street, June 14. Stolen, on the 17th inst., from flhe person of a gentleman : a heavy gold hunting Watch with seconds hands, white enamelled dial, plain cases, maker ' M. Friedman' on inner,, case. Information to be given to Superintendent Knight, Borough Police Office, Beverley, Yorka.— Bow- st., June 21. Stolen from the person of Henry Sambrook, on the 15th instant, at the Talbot Inn, Hay, Breconshire : a small- sized silver lever Watch, nearly new, with seconds hand, No. 8724, open face, double back, engine turned, capped and jewelled, and a silver guard Chain attached. Information to be given to Superintendent Evans, Crickhowell, or to Sergeant Jones, Hay, Breconshire.— Bov:- street, June 18. HGRSE AXfB CATTLE STEAM ICG. Further information respecting ALF. H. WALKER, alias BISWICK, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 19th ultimo, charged with obtaining seven Cattle, by false pretences, from auctioneers, in the cattle market, Hereford. Several of the Bank of England Notes obtained at Glynn's Bank, have been traced, having been passed at| race meetings. A warrant has been issued for his apprehension. Informa- tion to be given to Head Constable Davies, Hereford.— Bow- street, June 21. Stolen from a fold on Poulton Farm, near Malborough, the property of Mr. John Tanner, since the 8th instant ( sup- posed on the night of the 17th instant) : 33 Ewes, some four and six teeth, and others full mouthed, not shorn, marked ' T,' either on the near shoulder, side, or hip ; also 39 Tegs, not shorn, marked ' T' on the near hip. Whoever will £; ive such information as may lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders, shall receive £ 20 reward. Infor- mation to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Stretton, Wilts Constabulary, Marlborough.— Bow- street, June 21. Description of a man charged with stealing a Mare ( since recovered) oh the 9th instant : about 25 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, thin face, dark complexion and hair, no whiskers, and small sore eyes; dressed in a dark cloth cap ( peak), dark cloth coat, and cord trousers. Information to be Superintendent Purchase, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, June 21. Stolen, on the 6th inst., from a public- house in Burton- on- Trent : two woollen Shirts, one with dark stripes, and the other a red and white check ; one pair of woollen striped Drawers ; and one pair of Stockings : the property of John Preston : by RICHARD WOODHEAD, alias WOOD, alias GAUNT, who has been committed for trial at the next Staffordshire Quarter Sessions ; he is a native of Belper, near Derby, aud is supposed to have disposed of the above pro- perty in that neighbourhood. Information to be given to Superintendeut Loweii, Burton- on- Trent, Staffordshire.— Bowstreet, June 21. Further information respecting the young woman, charged with stealing from a dwelling- house, at Milford, Salop, as advertised in the Police Gazette of the 31st ultimo ; she gives the name of EMILY WILLIAMS, and applied for a situation as assistant nurse, at Stoke- upon- Trent Union, and submitted testimonials from the Lady Superintendent and house surgeon, of Victoria Hospital, Queen's- road, Chelsea, and one from the matron of Bethnal House, N. E. : she has lost the end of little finger of left hand, and she states that it was bitten off by one of the inmates of an asylum, where she was nurse ; she was last heard of in the neighbourhood of Wrexham. Information to be given to Superintendent Gough, Oswestry, or to P. C. Lyndon, Baschurch, Salop.— — Bow- street, June 18. Stolen from a field near Marton, Middlesborough, on the 16th inst. : a double- breasted blue pilot cloth Jacket, lined with dark rough lining, dark bone buttons, two pockets out- side, and one inside left breast-, had a small tear on right 2 POLICE GAZETTE. June 21 sleeve, much worn, and turning brown : by two men, one about 35 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, dressed in a dark cloth cap, dark coat, and moleskin trousers ; the other about 25 to 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches higb, dressed in dark cap, dark coat, and moleskin trousers. They had a red- coloured greyhound with them. Information to be given to Superintendent Simpson, North Riding Constabulary, South Stockton, or to Inspector Robson, Police Station, North Ormesby, Middlesborough.— Bow- street, June 18. A warrant is issued for the apprehension of MOSES PICKWICK BATH, who is charged with stealing a dead Pig ( recovered), at Atworth, on the night of the 10th inst.: about 46 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, rather stout build, full face, dark complexion, and blinks very much when speaking; dressed in an old dirty white slop, dark trousers, and black bowler hat. Information to be given to Superin- tendent White, Trowbridge, Wilts.— Bow- street, June 16. Charged with embezzlement and fraud to considerable amounts : ALBERT BAXTER, of Dundee, a stockbroker, about 36 years of age, about 5 feet 9 inches high, rather red hair, whiskers, and moustache, talks with broad Scotch accent, skin ( especially of hands) of dry and cracked appear- ance ; dresses s'martly. He left Dundee on the 29th ultimo, was in London at the ' Castle aud Falcon' hotel, Aldersgate- street, on the lst June, left there same day, and has not since been traced. Is believed to have a considerable sum of money with him. Information to be given to the Procurator- Fiscal, Court House Buildings, Dundee, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, June 16. Description of JOSEPH WILSON, late of Cannock, charged with having fraudulently converted to his own use a Clock ( recovered), of which he was bailee; he ia about 35 years old, 5 feet 7 inches high, fair complexion, light hair, sandy whiskers and moustache ; shabbily dressed in old blue pilot coat. He is a travelling clock cleaner, and has with him a photograph apparatus, which he pushes along on a three- wheel perambulator, and carries a rolled- up satchel with a strap over his shoulder. Iuformation to be given to Super- intendent Hill, Brownhills, near Walsall, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, June 16, Absconded on the 12th instant, stealing £ 9 from his employer : a youth, 17 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, dark complexion, hair and eyes, and bracelet on left wrist; dressed in black walking coat and trousers, aud glengarry cap.— Metropolitan Police, E Division, June 16. Description of ROBERT WEARE, an agent for the London and Manchester Industrial Assurance Company ( Limited), charged on a warrant with stealing ( as a bailee) certain Monies, at the parish of Lanehester, Durham : he ia about 43 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches high, stout make, very dark brown hair, black whiskers, saltow complexion, hazel eyes, long face, and speaks with a Scotch accent; he was born at sea, and was formerly a schoolmaster. He is supposed to be fraudulently collecting money in, the neghbourhocd of Sunderland and North and South Shields. Information to be given to Superintendent Oliver, Constabulary Office, Consett, Durham.— Eow street, June 16. Absconded from Chirk on the 3rd instant, charged on a warrant with stealing a Watch : THOMAS PEARCE, alias TOM THE TUBTHUMPER, supposed a native qf Willen- hall, Staffordshire, and a collier; about 18 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, and rather deaf ; dressed in black cloth coat, moleskin trousers, black soft billycock hat, and clogs. The Watch is recovered, having been pledged at Chester, and the ticket sold to a pawnbroker at Pendlebury, near Bolton, Lancashire. Pearce is known at Portobello, Pendlebury, and Pendleton. Information to be given to Inspector Humphreys, Llangollan, Denbighshire, N. W. — Bow- street, June 16, Absconded from bis bail at Thrapston, charged with stealing a sheet of Tin : JAMES WELSH, a tramping tinker, 46 years of age, 5 feet inches higb, dark complexion, and of dirty appearance, dark hair, blue eyes ; dressed in a dark dirty tweed coat and vest, dark cord trousers, cloth cap, with peak of same material, aud lappets ; he is accompanied by two little boys and a woman, who hawks and sells paper ornaments for firegrates; has iu bis possession a pedlar's certificate, granted at Huntingdon, and indorsed for Northamptonshire, I 204, on the county stamp. Information to be given to Inspector Kitchen, Thrapston, Northamptonshire, who holda a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, Jwv: 1G. Description of WILLIAM TRIVETT, a clerk and lace sabsman, who absconded on the 24th ultimo, charged with embezzlement,: he is from 36 to 40 years of age, about 5 feet 10 inches high, brown hair, sandy beard and moustache, shaves a little under the lip, thiu features, slender build, bald place on top of head, size of a half- crown ; generally dresses in dark blue frock coat, Scotch plaid trousers, aud high bat ; frequents betting places. £ 20 reward will be paid for his apprehension. Information to be given to Chief Constable Poyntz, Borough Police Station, Nottingham, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, June 16. Description of a man " who is travelling the country, representing himself to b « an agent of the Great Western Railway Company, and obtaining Money by false pretences from various persons, by informing them that parcels are lying in the warehouses at Paddington, sent by their friends, and kept their through the addresses being lost, and that such parcels will be forwarded upon the payment of the carriage hire to him, he obtained 7s. from a Mrs. Smith, at Windsor, on the 11th instant^ on this pretence: about 30 years of age, about 5 feet 6 iLiches high, moderately stout, dark complexion and whiskers ; dressed in rough pilot coat, dark waistcoat and trousers. Information to be given to Mr. Mason, Special Police, Gt. Western Railway, Paddington. -— Bow- street, June 16. MISCELLAMKOUS Committed to the House of Correction, at Shepton Mallet, for three months, for fraudulently converting a Watch to his own use, at Weston- Super- Mare, on the 17th instant: a man who gave the name of CHARLES CRABTREE, of London, dealer in fancy goods, 21 years of age, 5 ft. 6£ ins. high, dark brown hair, moustache, imperial, and hair on the chin, hazel eyes, and light complexion ; dressed in black silk hat, black frock hat, light vest, dark mixture cloth trousers, and elastic- side boots. In his possession were found the following pawn tickets : ' Linscote and Son, 1, 2 and 3, John- street, Exeter, 29th May, 1875, Over Coat, 5s.'; ' J. T. Smith, 23, Wimple- street, Plymouth, 21st May, 1875, Geneva Watch, lis.'; ' William Ullman, 19 and 20, Flora- street, Plymouth^ 20th May, 1875, Ri" g, 5s.'; 1 Thomas Nenve, 56, Haggerstone- road, 20t, h April, 1875, Vest, 3s.' Information to be given to Superintendent Gillbanks, Somerset Constabulary, Axbridge, or to Sergeant Hardwicke, Weston- Super- Mare, Somerset- shire.— Bow- street, June 21. . Description of JANE BARTHOLOMEW or BROWN, committed for trial at Maidstone Quarter Sessions, on a charge of stealing a Watch and Chain from the person, at Tunbridge Wells : about 27 years of age, 5 feet high, brown single breasted, dark mixture trousers, fly fronts and patch on each knee of different material, and heavy lace- up boots; he wore a white calico shirt, and had two others with him. It is feared some ill has befallen him. Information to be given to Superintendent Emson, Somerset Constabulary, Temple Cloud, near Bristol.— Bow- street, June 18.
