MURDER AND WOUNDING • T: Absconded from France, 13th of April last, charged with murdering her child : MARIE ANATOLE MAZIER, a • widow, maiden name BESNEHARD, 30 years of age, about 5 feet high, dark hair, grey eyes, suiali mouth, and large flat forehead. Supposed in service in the Island of Jersey, probably at Gorey. Information to be given to Superinten- dent Williamson, Detective Department, Great Scotland Yard, S. W.— Metropolitan Police, June 11. T3RGEEY. Absconded on the 12th ultimo, charged on a warrant with forgery : ROBERT GORDON COLEMAN, late of No. 3. Ravensworth - terrace, Fulham, 40 years of age, black velvet and black lace ; one black and red table Cover ; one white table Cloth ; two knitted Antimacassars ; one black velvet Scotch Cap ; and one boys' black cloth Vest, nearly new. Information to be given to Chief Super- intendent McCrea, Police Office, Bilston, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, June 18. Between 8 and 12 a. m. on the 15th instant, a cottage belonging to Wm. Hockney, in the parish of Hatfield Parva in the East Riding of Yorkshire, was broken and entered by the dairy window during the absence of the family, and the following articles stolen therefrom : two black cloth Coats with velvet collars, one ditto Vest, two pairs of ditto Trousers, one Coat and one pair of the Trousers, nearly new, have fall fronts, also the other pair have been lengthened at the bottoms ; one grey mixture double- breasted Top Coat with velvet collar ; one diagonal cloth Jacket with - selvet collar ; one dark rough cloth Vest, single breasted with red spots in it; one pair of men's elastic- side Boots, mended on the soles near the toe3 ; two blue striped cotton Shirts; and one silver Watch Guard, which has been mended with wire, snake pattern. Supposed by a tramp about 40 years of age, ginger whiskers, hair turn- ing grey; dressed in a dark grey mixture coat and cap. Between 12 p. m. and 6 a. m. on the 6th instant, the dwelling- house and shop of Mr. John Watkins, of the parish of Fownhope, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : a Box, containing a quantity of old Coppers, seven or eight new red cotton Handkerchiefs, about six clasp Knives, with white handles, and a quantity of Cheese and Bacon. Stolen from a field at Somerford Magna, Wilts, about the 8th instant: a light- coloured gelding Donkey, about 12 years old. Stolen from a field at Horton Kirby, near Farningham, , • coat with large seams and small pockets on hips, dark mixture or dirty cord trousers, fitting tight to the legs, black low- crowned hard felt hat, lace- up boots, with bright spurs. In- formation to be given to the Superintendent of Police, Berks' Constabulary, Reading.— Bow- street, June 14. Description of NOAH SMITH, alias BONEY, charged with stealing two Pigs, the property of Jane Matthews, at Oldbury, on the 21st ultimo : 24 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, fair complexion, light brown hair, very little whiskers, upper lip enlarged from a blow, and walks with one leg bent inwards. He is supposed to be travelling as a labourer, with showmen, and may probably be found engaged at swinging boats or merry- go- rounds. Information to be given to Superintendent Kemp, Worcestershire Constabulary, Hales- owen, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, June 14. The lad described in the Police Gazette of the 28th May last, for stealing a Gelding, Cart, and Harness, at Tunbridge Wei's, has been committed for trial, and the property recovered : lie gives the name of ARTHUR EDWARD BURROW, of Bethnal Green, London. Information to be given to the Head Constable, Tunbridge Wells, Kent.— Bow- street, June 14. Stolen on the 5th instant, from a field in Bonghey- lane, Macclesfield : a mottled grey Horse, aged, 15 hands high, with cropped tail, the property of Frederick Upton, Stanley- street. Information to be given to Chief Constable Sheasby, Borough Police Office, Macclesfield, Cheshire.— Bow- street, June 11. Stolen on the night of the 9th instant, from a stable at Whiteknights, near Reading : a light bay Mare, aged, about 15 hands inch high, very handsome, has a swelling on the outside of fetlock joint of near foreleg, caused by a sprain, a spot of liair about the size of a 2s. piece rubbed oft the off side of back, black mane and tail. £ 20 reward, half the reward will be paid to any person giving such information as will lead to the recovery of the Mare, or the whole of it on recovery o! the Mare and conviction of the offender or offenders. Description of CHARLES WILLIAM LOVATT, silk manufacturer, who absconded from Leek, about the 20th ult., charged with forging a Bill, to the amount of £ 15 : he is about 28 years of age, 6 feet 1 inch high, pale complexion, dark Vrown hair and whiskers, meeting under the chin, broad shoulders, and walks rather slovenly, and with his head forward; dressed in dark clothes ; he has been in America. Stolen from the person on Ascot race course, on the lltli instant, a silver open- face crystal glass Lever Watch, with compensation balance, makers Burrands and Lunees, No. 3 | 1404, crest on back— an arm in armour with dart in hand, the dart having something pendent from it. Stolen at Windsor race course on the 16th instant, from the person of a gentleman, a gold engine- turned Hunting Watch, maker Dent, and a gold curb alb art Chain. Stolen from the person of Samuel Collier, while attending Bromyard Races on the 20th ultimo: a silver Watch, with ' S. Collier' marked on one of the cases. The dwelling- house of Mr. Jarvis Shelton of Ettingshall, near Bikton, was entered by thieves during the night of the 13th inst., and the following property stolen therefrom : one pair of ladies' elastic side Boots, nearly new; two pairs of ditto, with toe caps, much worn ; one pair of men's low Shoes, elastic sides nearly new ; one pair of ditto elastic side Boots, much worn ; one pair of boys' ditto ; one pair of ditto lace- up Boots with eyelet holes ( nearly new) ; one pair of men's light blucher Shoes, nearly new ; one pair of childs' Boots, one row of buttons up each side ; one blue waterproof Cloak with black bone buttons ( much worn); one man's blue • [ rd cloth- Coat, double- breasted, ( new); one boys'grey cloth Jacket ( new); one black French merino Cape, trimmed with Salop, as advertised in the Police Gazette of the 31st ultimo : she gives the name of EMILY WILLIAMS, and applied for a situation as assistant nurse, at Stoke- upon- Trent Union, and submitted testimonials from the Lady Superintendent and house surgeon, of Victoria Hospital, Queen's- road, Chelsea, and one from the matron of Bethnal House, N. E. : she has lost the end of little finger of left hand, and she states that it was bitten off by one of the inmates of an asylum, where she was nurse ; she was last heard of in the neighbourhood of Wrexham. Information to be given to Superintendent Gough, Oswestry, or to P. O. Lyndon, Baschurch, Salop.— — Bow- street, June 18. Stolen from a field near Marton, Middlesborougb, on the 16th inst. : a double- breasted blue pilot cloth Jacket, lined with dark rough lining, dark bone buttons, two pockets out- side, and one inside left breast, had a small tear on right sleeve, much worn, and turning brown : by two men, one about 35 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, dressed in a dark cloth cap, daiic coat, and moleskin trousers ; the other about 25 to 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, dressed in dark cap, dark coat, and moleskin trousers. They had a red- coloured greyhound with them. Infoimation to be given to Superintendent Simpson, North Riding Constabulary, South Stockton, or to Inspector Robson, Police Station, North Ormesby, Middlesborough.- Bow- street, June 18. A warrant is issued for the apprehension of MOSES PICKWICK BATH, who is charged with stealing a dead Pig ( recovered), at Atworth, on the night of the 10th inst.: about 46 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, rather stout build, full face, dark complexion, and blinks very much when speaking; dressed in an old dirty white slop, dark trousers, and black bowler hat. Information to be given to Superin- tendent White, Tr. owbridge, Wilts.— Bovj- street, June 16. Charged with embezzlement aud fraud to considerable amouuts : ALBERT BAXTER, of Dundee, a stockbroker, about 36 years of age, about 5 feet 9 inches high, rather red hair, whiskers, and moustache, talks with bioad Scotch accent, skin ( especially of hands) of dry and cracked appear- ance ; dresses smartly. He left Dundee on the 29tli ultimo, was in Loudon at the ' Castle aud Falcon' hotel, Aldersgate- street, on the 1st June, left there same day, and has not since been traced. Is believed to have a considerable sum of money with him. Information to be given to the Procurator- Fiscal, Court House Buildings, Dundee, who holds a warrant for his apprehension. - Bow- street, June 16. Description of JOSEPH WILSON, late of Cannock, charged with having fraudulently converted to his own use a Clock ( recovered), of which he was bailee; he is about 35 years old, 5 feet 7 inches high, fair complexion, light hair, sandy whiskers and moustache ; shabbily dressed in old blue Description of a man suspected of stealing a light bay j pilot coat. He is a travelling clock cleaner, and has with him Mare at Whitenights, near Reading, on the 9 th instant : a photograph apparatus, which he pushes, along on a three- about 23 years of [ age, 5 feet 9 inches high, very little wheel perambulator, and carries a rolled- up satchel with a whiskers, and a cast in left eye; dressed in dark mixture J strap over his shoulder, Information to be given to Super- Stolen from a field on the Glynch Farm, iu the parish of Redmarley d'Abitot,- on the night of the 3rd instant : four yearling wether Sheep, mottle faced, not shorn or marked ; also a Welsh ewe Sheep and Lamb, with long tails, in the wool, and not marked ; the property of Mr. Thomas Brewer. Information to be given to Superintendent Checketts, Upton- on- Severn, Worcestershire.— Bow- street, June 16. Description of JOHN BISHOP, charged on a warrant with horse- stealing as a bailee : be is 21 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, fresh complexion, round face, little light whiskers, brown hair, walks as if he was tender on his feet ; dressed in a light suit, trousers fitting tight to his legs, has the appearance of a groom or horse- dealer. Information to be given to Superintendent Davies, City Police, Hereford. — Bow- street, June 14. Description of WILLIAM DURE, charged on a warrant with stealing a cow ( recovered) : be is 23 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, dark brown hair, hazel eyes, little dark whiskers, shaved under chin, rather high cheek bones, and shows front teeth a little ; dressed in dark brown monkey jacket, soft felt wideawake hat, and light mixture trousers, has worked on railways as a labourer, and iu coal mines in Wales and the north of Euglaud. Information to be given to Superintendent Goldsmith, Taunton — Bow street, June 14. Stolen from Billinsley, near Bridgnorth, the property of Mr, John Chatham, farmer, between 8 p. m. on the 11th and 6 a. m. on he 12th instant : a dark brown hack Mare, 3 years old, 14 hands 2 inches high, small white star on forehead, tail cut, broken to saddle and harness. Information to be given to Superintendent Ivinp, Bridgnorth, Salop.— Bow- street, June 14. Description of THOMAS alias JAMES GEARY, a labourer, who has absconded from Long Sutton, charged with stealing a Horse, Cart, and set of Harness ( since recovered); the property of Henry Kemp : about 30 years of age, 6 feet high, black curly hair, and in- kneed ; has relations residing at Mapperdurmell, re. ir Basingstoke. Information to be given to Superintendent Stephenson, Hants Constabulary, Aldershort, who holds a warrant for his appi ehension.— Bow- street, June 14. Stolen from a field adjoining the Market Place, Denton, between 11 p . m. 10th aud 6 a. m. on the 11th instant: a black Pony, about 12 hands high, with saddle marks, grey on the face, aged. June 18 intendent Hill, Brownliills, near Walsall, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bovj- street, June 16. Absconded on the 12th instant, stealing £ 9 from his employer : a youth, 17 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, dark complexion, hair and eyes, and bracelet on left wrist; dressed in black walking coat and trousers, and glengarry cap.— Metropolitan Police, E Division, June 16. Description of ROBERT WEARE, an agent for the London and Manchester Industrial Assurance Company ( Limited), charged on a warrant with stealing ( as a bailee) certain Monies, at the parish of Lanchester, Durham : he is about 43 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches high, stout make, very dark brown hair, black whiskers, sallow complexion, hazel eyes, long face, and speaks with a Scotch accent; he was born at sea, and was formerly a schoolmaster. He is supposed to be fraudulently collecting money in the neghbourhocd of Sunderland and North and South Shields. Information to be given to Superintendent Oliver, Constabulary Office, Consett, Durham.— Bow- street, June 16. Absconded from Chirk on the 3rd instant, charged on a • warrant with stealing a Watch : THOMAS PEARCE, alias TOM THE TUBTHUMPER, supposed a native of Willen- hall, Staffordshire, and a collier ; about 18 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, and rather deaf ; dressed in black cloth coat, moleskin trousers, black soft billycock hat, and clogs. The Watch is recovered, having been pledged at Chester, and the ticket sold to a pawnbroker at Pendlebury. near Bolton, Lancashire. Pearce is known at Portobello, Pendlebury, and Pendleton. Information to be given to Inspector Humphreys, Llangollan, Denbighshire, N. W. •— Bow- street, June 16. Absconded from his bail at Thrapston, charged with stealing a sheet of Tin : JAMES WELSH, a tramping tinker, 46 years of age, 5 feet inches high, dark cpmplexion, and of dirty appearance, dark hair, blue eyes ; dressed in a dark dirty tweed coat and vest, dark cord trousers, cloth cap, with peak of same material, and lappets ; he is accompanied by two little boys and a woman, who hawks and sells paper ornaments for fire grates; has in his possession a pedlar's certificate, granted at Huntingdon, and indorsed for Northamptonshire, I 204, on the county stamp. Information to be given to Inspector Kitchen, Thrapston, Northamptonshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bmc- street, June 16. Desciiption of WILLIAM TRIVETT, a clerk and lace salssman, who absconded on the 24th ultimo, charged with embezzlement: he is from 36 to 40 years of age, about 5 feet 10 inches high, " brown hair, sandy beard and moustache, shaves a little under the lip, thin features, slender build, bald place on top of head, size of a half- crown ; generally dresses in dark . blue frock coat, Scotch plaid trousers, and high hat; frequents betting places. £ 20 reward will be paid for his apprehension. Information to be given to Chief Constable Poyntz, Borough Police Station, Nottingham, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- slreet, June 16, Absconded from this town on the morning of the 9th inst., charged on a warrant with embezzlement : FRED. STEVENS, a lawyer's clerk, an Englishman, about 31 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, bald on front pait of head, and has a dimple in centre of chin ; dresses respectably, has resided here about twelve months, and has been a clerk with Mr. J. P. May, Solicitor, 2, Princes Street, Spital Square, London, and lived at 31, Finehley Road, Lorrimore Square, London, has a sum of money in his possession, and may emigrate. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Thomas, Mertbyr.— Bow- street, June 14. Stolen from a dwelling house in Burton- on- Trent, on the 7t. h instant : an old- fashioned silver verge Watch, No. 1234, dial cracked, and steel Chain attached ; and £ 2 in Gold. By a man, about 20 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, dark brown hair and eyes, dark complexion, blotches on his cheeks ; dressed in dark cap, white slop, and new cotton cord trousers ; he travels in the country in the summer time with shows, & c. Information to be given to Superintendent Bowen, Burton- on- Trent, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, June 14_ Stolen from a stable at Old Marton, near Oswestry, between 7 and 10 p. m. on the 6th instant, the property of Edward Jones : a blue pilot cloth monkey Jacket, lined with plaid, double- breasted, one button off right side ; a double- breasted black cloth Vest, speckled with white, and only three buttons on each side ; a blue serge Slop, one brass button on top; a blue and white bundle Handkerchief; and a pair of old watertight Boots, recently soled and heeled with gutta- percha, plates on heels, heavily nailed, one nail out of each toe. By a man who has been working with thrashing machines, and has been a soldier : 30 years of age, about 5 feet 9 inches high, stout build, broad face, small sandy • whiskers, and slight impediment in speech ; dressed in an old black billycock hat, rather long yellow- brown coat-, old dirty cord trousers, patched on knees, and an old pair of boots, worn on one side. He was advertised in the Police Gazette of the 3rd ultimo, charged with similar offences. Information to be given to Superintendent Gough, Oswestry, Salop.— Bow- street, June 14. Absconded from Walsall on the 8th instant, charged with stealing a black leather hand Bag, containing £ 37 9s. all in Silver : FREDERIC DREW, 39 years of age, 5 feet 4- J ins. j high, fair complexion, brown hair, liazel eyes, scar on back of right hand and inside of left arm, and end ef nose very red ; was discharged from Portland Prison on the 28th July, 1870, and is well known at Birmingham and Worcester ; and JAS. ASHTON, alias DREW, 19 years of age, 5 feet 3J inches high, stout, light hair and complexion, slightly bow- legged, small moustache, and a full pleasing countenance. The stolen bag has ' Britannia Mill Company, Birmingham,' engraved on the brass lock. The portrait of Frederic Drew will be sup- plied if required. Information to be given to Chief Super- intendent Cater, Walsall, Staffordshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, June 14. DAVID GEORGE CAPLING, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 21st ultimo, has been committed to Maidstone Quarter Sessions, for trial, on four charges of felony : he is smnnnsfid to have been convicted of felonv some vears afro, and Stolen in the borough of Chesterfield, on the 8th instant: name is GEORGE JOHNSON, of Bristol, 28 years of age a silver lever Watch, No. 29952. Supposed by a man, about 5 feet 3 § inches high, sallow complexion, hazel eyes, whiskers 27 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, light complexion, no I shaved off, dark brown hair cut short; dressed in a grey whiskers, light moustache, light sandy hair, and is a stone- j Taglioni overcoat, dark striped jacket, grey trousers, elastic- mason ; dressed in a shabby grey coat, woollen cord trousers, ! side boots, and round jimcrow hat ; marks— a woman, man, and black billycock hat. Said to be a native of Birmingham. ! union jack, crown, bracelet, and laurel on left forearm, Information to be given to Head Constable Home, Chester- mariner's grave, mermaid, anchor, crown, bracelet and laurel field, Derbvshire.— Bow- street, Jwip 11. Stolen from the dwelling- house of William James, Saint Clears, Carmarthenshire, about' 4 a. m. on the 2nd instant: about £ 3 in Silver " asd Copper Money, and about 3 pounds of Tobacco. By ISAAC PASCOE, blacksmith, a native of Litliney Helston, Cornwall, a lodger, 18 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, hazel eyes, and light brown hair ; dressed in dark coat, dark cap, with straight peak, blue Militia trousers, calico sbiru, socks, and boots, all marked ' R. P. M. W. 316 '; is a member of the Pembrokeshire Militia. Has worked at his trade in Glamorganshire or Monmouthshire, where he is supposed to have gone. Information to be given to Sergeant Saer, Police Station, St. Clears, Carmarthenshire, who holds a arrant for his apprehension.— Bow- Hreet, June 11. FELOHIES. ( Not otherwise described). Description of ISAAC HICKMAN who absconded, on the 20th inst., from Lower Gomal, Sedgley, charged with assaulting with intent, & c,, a girl, 4 years old : he is 24 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, dark brown hair, dark com- plexion, and stout build ; dressed in a dark blue cloth coat, light grey trousers, dark cloth cap, and generally wears clogs. He is a miner. Information to be given to Inspector Tomlinson, Police Station, Sedgley, Staffordshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, June 14.
