Stolen from the person on the 4th instant, at Eton : a silver Geneva Watch, maker Benson, Bond- street, London, coloured figures on face ; a small gold Geneva hunting Y/ atch, marked on back ' A. L. N.'; a silver kalf hunting Watch, keyless, crest on back, and engine- turned ; a gold Watch, maker Le Roy and Fils, marked ' E. Stolen from the person of a gentleroan'in the borough of Sunderland, on the night of the 2nd instant : a gold lever Watch, No. 42120, has a small piece chipped off the dial near the figure ' 12,' had attached a gold albert curb Chain and a Seal, green stone on one side, red on the other; a Pocket Book, containing a £ 5 Bank of England Note, a bunch of Keys, a latch Kej, a safe Key, and several Papers relating to coal, dealing. Stolen from the person at Newport pleasure fair, about 8 p. m. on the 28tli. inst., a patent silver lever Watch, No. 57027, no maker's name, sunk Seconds, open face, and capped. j£ l reward will be paid on its recovery and con- viction of the offender or offenders. Description of CHARLES WILLIAM LOVATT, silk manufacturer, who absconded from Leek, about the 20th ult., charged with forging a Bill, to the amount of £ 15 : he is about 28 years of age, 6 feet 1 inch high, pale complexion, dark brown hair and whiskers, meeting under the chin, broad shoulders, and walks rather slovenly, and with his head forward ; dressed in dark clothes ; he has been in America. Information to be given to Superintendent Williams, Leek, Staffordshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— — Bow- street, June 14. Charged on a warrant with forgery: JABEZ STEAD MUSGRAVE, 50 or 55 years of age, nearly 6 feet high slender build, carries himself erect, light complexion, sharp features, light hair, bushy at sides, and inclined to curl, light moustache, whiskers, and beard, slightly pockmarked, bald, and has a deep indentation on top of head ; left Manchester by the 9' 10 p. m. train for Liverpool, on the 3rd instant, ' n- formation to be given to Chief Constable Palin, Town Hall, Manchester.— Bow- street, June 9. Description of GEORGE GRAHAM, charged on a warrant with having ou the 17th November, 1874, feloniously forged a certain acceptance of a certain Bill of Exchange for the payment of .£ 175 10s. : he is from 30 to 35 years of age, 5 feet 5 to 6 inches high, dark brown [ hair, inclined to curl, dark brown whiskers all round his face, no moustache, hazel eyes, has a peculiarity [ about his eyes as if an operation had been performed upon him for squinting, fresh complexion, and ordinary nose and mouth; generally dresses in black frock coat, coloured trousers, and high black hat, and had a slovenly appearance; is a native of Felling, county of Durham, and up to last December was a ship- broker in New- castle. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, Detective Department, Newcastle- on- Tyne. — Bow- street, June 7. Absconded on the 24th ultimo, charged a warrant with forgery of Bills, amounting to ^ 2,475, BENJ. ARCHER POTTER, lately a drysalter iu Queen- street, Glasgow : he is 31 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, ordinary make, fair complexion and hair, rather red whiskers, beard, and mous- tache ( full grown), and bald forehead; dresses generally in a black surtout coat and dress hat; ho is a native of Batley, Yorkshire. Information to be given to Chief Constable McCall, or to Deputy Chief Constable Brown, Glasgow, Lan- arkshire.— Bow- street, June 7. BURGLARY AID H# USE Between 12 p. m. and 6 a. m. on the 6th instant, the dwelling- house and shop of Mr. John Watkins, of the parish of Fownhope, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : a Box, containing a quantity of old Coppers, seven or eight new red cotton Handkerchiefs, about six clasp Knives, with white handles, and a quantity of Cheese and Bacon. Sup- posed by tramps. Information to be given to Superinten- dent Cope, Shire Hall, Hereford,— Bow- street, June 11. Between 3 and 5- 30 a. m. on the 3rd inst., the dwelling- house of Mr. James Rothwell, licensed victualler, Crown Inn, Copy Nook, Blackburn, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : a lady's gold lever Watch, gold dial, seconds hand, No. 16555, had a gold Guard, small chain pattern, attached ; a silver iever Watch, white dial, seconds hand, maker J. Ainsworth, Blackburn, No. 54582, with a fine silver Guard attached ; also 8s. or 9s. in silver and copper Money. Information to be given to Chief Constable Potts, Police Ottioe, Town Hall, Blackburn, Lancashire.— Bow- st., June 7. ROBBERY AID LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Stolen from the person of Samuel Collier, while attending Bromyard Races on the 20th ultimo: a silver Watch, with ' S. Collier' marked on one of the cases. Information to be given to Superintendent Harwood, Bromyard, Herefordshire, — Bow- street, June 11. Stolen from the person of Thomas Poulton, on the 7th instant: a silver Geneva Watch, enamelled face, blaek figures and small seconds hand, also a gold Albert Chain, snake pattern, with Locket attached. By a man named EDWARD PHILLIPS, a shoemaker, 30 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches higb, sandy hair, whiskers, beard and moustache; rather well dressed in dark clothes, round hard hat, elastic- side boots, the trousers bulging at the knees, Has worked in MORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Description of JOHN BISHOP, charged on a warrant with horse- stealing as a bailee : he is 21 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches higb, fresh complexion, round face, little light whiskers, brown hair, walks as if he was tender on his feet, ; dressed in a light suit, trousers fitting tight to his legs, has the appearance of a groom or horse- dealer. Information, to be given to Superintendent Davies, City Police, Hereford. — Bow- street, June 14. Description of WILLIAM DARK, charged on a warrant with stealing a cow ( recovered) : he is 23 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, dark brown hair, haz<; l eyes, little dark whiskers, shaved under chin, rather high cheek bjnes, and shows front teeth a little ; dressed in dark brown monkey jacket, soft felt wideawake hat, and light mixture trousers, has worked on railways as a labourer, and in eoal mines in Wales and the north of England. Information to be given to Superintendent Goldsmith, Taunton — Bow street, June 14. Stolen on the night of the 10th instant, from a field at Cwmisa-, Capel Curig, in the parish of Llaurliochwyn : a dark bay Mare, 7 years old, about 14 hands high, with white hind fetlocks, little white spot and a scar on one of the fore feet, the property of Owen Williams. A man of the following description was seen at 4 a, m. at Llanberis, riding a horse <. f a similar description, about 5 feet 8 inches high, ana sandy whiskers ; dressed in dirty slop, moleskin trousers, and a billycock hat, tied down with a string. Stolen from Billinsley, near Bridgnorth, the property of Mr, John Chatham, farmer, between 8 p. m. on the 11th aud 6 a. m. on he 12th instant : a dark brown hack Mare, 3 years old, 14 hands 2 inches high, small white star_ on forehead, tail cut, broken to saddle and harness. Information to be given to Superintendent Ivins, Bridgnorth, Salop.— Bow- street, June 14. Description of THOMAS alias JAMES GEARY, a labourer, who has absconded from Long Sutton, charged with stealing a Horse, Cart, and set of Harness ( since recovered) ; the property of Henry Kemp : about 30 years of age, 6 feet high, black curly hair, and in- kneed ; has relations residing at Mapperdurmell, near Basingstoke. Information to be given to Superintendent Stephenson, Hants Constabulary, Aldersliort, who holds a warrant for his appi ehension.— Bow- street, June 14. Stolen from a field adjoining the Market Place, Denton, betweeu 11 p. m. 10th and 6 a. m. on the 11th instant: a black Pony, about 12 hands high, with saddle marks, grey on the face, aged. Information to be given to Inspector Keir, Police Station, or to Mr. W. H. Knowles, printer, Market Place, Denton.— Bow- street, June 14. Description of a man suspected of stealing a light bay Mare at Whitenights, near Reading, on the 9th instant : about 23 years of ; age, 5 feet 9 inchcs high, very little whiskers, and a cast in left eye; dressed in dark mixture coat with large seams and small pockets on hips, dark mixture or dirty cord trousers, fitting tight to the legs, black low- crowned hard felt hat, lace- up boots, with bright spurs. In- formation to be given to the Superintendent of Polico, Berks' Constabulary, Reading.— Bow- street, June 14. Description of NOAH SMITH, alias BONEY, charged with stealing two Pigs, the property of Jane Matthews, at Oldbury, on the 21st ultimo : 24 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, fair complexion, light brown hair, very little whiskers, upper lip enlarged from a blow, and walks with one leg bent inwards. He itj supposed to be tiavelling as a labourer, with showmen, and may probably be found engaged at swinging boats or merry- go- rounds. Information to be given to Superintendent Kemp, Worcestershire Constabulary, Hales- owen, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- sireet, June 14. The lad described in the Police Gazette of the 28th May last, for stealing a Gelding, Cart, and Harness, at Tunbridge Wei's, has been committed for trial, and the property recovered: he gives the name of ARTHUR EDWARD BURROW, of Bethnal Green, London. Information to be given to the Head Constable, Tuabridge Wells, Kent.— Bow- street, June 14. Stolen frotSU- a field near Bradley, during tka aueuing : f the 4th instant : an aged dark brown Horse, half bred, in fair condition, about 15 hands high, black legs, mane and tail rather long; both knee3 chipped, small white mark on nose, walks stiffly behind, and is rather cow- legged. Information to be given to James Rotchel, the owner, of Bradley, or to Sergeant Wheaver, Police Station, Church Eaton, Stafford,— Bow- street, June 11. Stolen on the 5th instant, from a field in Boughey- lane, Macclesfield : a mottled grey Horse, aged, 15 hands high, with cropped tail, the property of Frederick Upton, Stanley- street. Information to be given to Chief Constable Sheasby, Borough Police Office, Macclesfield, Cheshire.— Bou'- street, June il. Stolen on the night of the 9th instant, from a stable at Whiteknights, near Reading : a light bay Mare, aged, about 15 hands inch high, very handsome, has a swelling on the outside of fetlock joint of near foreleg, caused by a sprain, a spot of hair about the size of a 2s. piece rubbed off the off side of back, black mane and tail. £ 20 reward, half the reward will be paid to any person giving such information as will lead to the recovery of the Mare, or the whole of it on recovery o* the Mare and conviction of the offender or offenders. Stolen during the night of the 6th instant, from a field at Netteswell Bury, the property of John Frederic Coleman, farmer: a black cart Mare, 10 years old, about 15 hands 3 inches high, white star on forehead, and one small white saddle mark. Information to be given to Superintendent Simpson, Police Station, Epping, Essex.— Bow- street, June 9. Found straying at Oldbury, on the night of the 31st ultimo, supposed to have been stolen : a red Heifer, in calf. Information to be given to Superintendent Kemp, Halesowen, Worcestershire.— bow- sireet, June 9. Description of CHARLES MOLE, - a labourer, who has absconded from Portsmouth, charged with horse- stealing. He is about 23 years of age, 5 feet 10 iuches high, dark brown hair, hazel eyes with . a cast in both, dark complexion, head inclines to one side ; dressed in black billycock hat, white slop, cord trousers, and heavy lace- up boots. Information to be given to Head Constable Barber, Portsmouth, Hants, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, June 7. Stolen from a stable on the Burford- road, near Chipping Norton, Oxou, on the night of the 28tli ultimo : a brown mare Pony, about 13 hands high, aged, has a cut in one ear, long tail, and walks a little stiff behind. The property of Edward Skey, dealer, Chipping Norton, Oxon. Information to be given, to Superintendent Lakin, County Police Station, Chipping Norton, Oxon.— Bow- street, June 7. Stolen betweeu 9 30 p m. on the 30th, and 3 30 a. m. on the 31st ultimo, from a field at Bentley- with- Arksey, near Dsncaster, the property of Thomas Clark, cattle dealer : a brown Gelding, about 11 hands higb, aged, black legs, tuft of hair on both knees, from being down, switch tail, rather slack backed, and in low condition. By a man, about 35 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, fresh complexion, and stout built; dressed in black cloth coat, cord trousers, black soft billycock hat, and clogs; he passed through the Barnsdale toll- bar with the horse, at 1 a. in on the 31st ultimo. June 14 Stolen during the night of the 26tfo ultimo, from « . field at Greenford- green : a black Gelding, 5 years old, 16 hands high, long mane, bang tail, and no hind shoes.— Metropolitan Police, X Division, June 7. LAECTIY AMD EMBEZZLEMENT. Absconded from this town on the morning of the 9th inst., charged on a warrant with embezzlement : FRED. STEVENS, a lawyer's clerk, an Englishman, about 34 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, bald on front pait of head, and has a dimple in centre of chin ; dresses respectably, has resided here about twelve months, and has been a clerk with Mr. J. P. May, Solicitor, 2, Princes Street, Spital Square, London, and lived at 31, Einchley Road, Lorrimore Square, London, has a sum oi money in his possession, and may emigrate. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Thomas, Merthyr.— Bow- street, June 14. Stolen from a dwelling- bouse in Burton- on- Trent, on the 7th instant : an old- fashioned silver verge Watch, No. 1234, dial cracked, and steel Chain attached ; and £ 2 in Gold. By a man, about 20 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, dark brown hair and eye3, dark complexion, blotches on his cheeks ; dressed in dark cap, white slop, and new cotton cord trousers ; he travels in the country in the summer time with shows, & c. Information to be given to Superintendent BoweD, Burton- on- Trent, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, June 14 Stolen from a stable at Old Marton, near Oswestry, between 7 and 10 p. m. on the 6th instant, the property of Edward. Jones : a blue pilot cloth monkey Jacket, lined with plaid, double- breasted, one button off right side ; a double- breasted black cloth Yest, speckled with white, and only three buttons on each side ; a blue serge Slop, one brass button on top ; a blue and white bundle Handkerchief; and a pair of old watertight Boots, recently soled and heeled with gutta- percha, plates on heels, heavily nailed, one nail out of each toe. By a man who has been working with thrashing machines, and has been a soldier : 30 years of age, about 5 feet 9 inches high, stout build, broad face, small sandy whiskers, and slight impediment in speech ; dressed iu an old black billycock hat, rather long yellow- brown coat, old dirty cord trousers, patched on knees, and an old pair of boots, worn on one side. He was advertised in the Police Gazette of the 3rd ultimo, charged with similar offences. Information to be given to Superintendent Gough, Oswestry, Sabp.— Bow- street, June 14. Absconded from Walsall on the 8th instant, charged with stealing a blaek leather hand Bag, containing £ 37 9s. all in Silver : FREDERIC DREW, 39 years of age, 5 feet ins. high, fair complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, scar on back of right hand and inside of left arm, and end cf nose very red ; was discharged from Portland Prison on the 28th July, 1870, and is well known at Birmingham and Worcester ; and J AS. ASHTON, alias DREW, 19 years of age, 5 feet 3\ inches high, stout, light hair and complexion, slightly bow- legged, small moustache, and a full pleasing countenance. The stolen bag has ' Britannia Mill Company, Birmingham,' engraved on the brass lock. The portrait of Frederic Drew will be sup- plied if required. Information to be given to Chief Super- intendent Cater, Walsall, Staffordshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, June 14. DAVID GEORGE CAPLING, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 21st ultimo, has been committed to Maidstone Quarter Sessions, for trial, on four charges, ef felony: he is supposed to have been convicted of felony some years ago, and sentenced to 5 years detention in a reformatory. Information to be given to Head Constable Embery, Tunbridge Wells, or to Superintendent Dance, Tunbridge, Kent.— Bow- street, June 14. Description of a man charged with stealing a dead Pig ( recovered), at Atworth, on the night of the 10th iustant : about 46 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, rather stout build, full face, dark complexion, and blinks very much when speaking; dressed in an old dirty white slop, dark trousers, and black bowler hat. Information to be given to Superin- tendent White, Trowbridge, Wilts.— Bow- strcet, June 14. Charged on a warrant with embezzlement : HARRY R. SCOTT DE MORST, 22 or 23 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, brown hair, fair complexion, good looking, slight whiskers and moustache ; is an amateur athlete, well known at the South London Harriers Athletic Club, and at the West Kent Club, Forest Hill. Information to be given to Inspector Bailey, City of London Police, Detective Depart- ment, 26, Old Jewry, E. C .- Bow- street, June 11. Stolen in the borough of Chesterfield, on the 8lh instant: a silver lever Watch, No. 29952. Supposed by a man, about 27 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, light complexion, no whiskers, light moustache, light sandy hair, and is a stone- mason ; dressed in a shabby grey coat, woollen cord trousers, and black billycock hat. Said to be a native of Birmingham. Information to be given to Head Constable Home, Chester- field, Derbyshire.— Bow- street, June 11. Stolen from the dwelling- house of William James, Saint Clears, Carmarthenshire, about 4 a. m. on the 2nd instant: about £ 3 in Silver and Copper Mouey, and about 3 pounds of Tobacco. By ISAAC PASCOE, blacksmith, a native of Lithney Helston, Cornwall, a lodger, IS years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, hazel eyes, and light brown hair ; dressed in dark coat, dark cap, with straight peak, blue Militia tiousers, calico shirt, socks, aud boots, all marked ' R. P. M. W. 316'; is a member of the Pembrokeshire Militia. Has worked at his trade in Glamorganshire or Monmouthshire, where he is supposed to have gone. Information to be given to Sergeant Saer, Police Station, St. Clears, Carmarthenshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- ttrect, June 11. Description of FREDERIC PETFORD, charged with embezzling various sums of money belonging to the propri- tors of the Warwick and Birmingham Canal, his masters : he is 29 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches higb, pale complexion, dark brown hair, whiskers, and moustache, and square shoulders ; respectably dressed, and has a gentlemanly appearance. A reward of £ 20 will be paid by the above- mentioned company to any person giving such information as will lead to his apprehension. Information to be given to Superintendent Glossop, Birmingham, who holds the warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, June 11. Description of WILLIAM TRIVETT, a clerk and lace salesman, who absconded on the 24th ultimo, charged with embezzlement: he is from 36 to 40 years of age, about 5 feet 10 inches high, brown hair, sandy beard aud moustache, shaves a little under the lip, thin features, slender build, bald place on top of head, size of a half- crown ; generally dresses in dark blue frock coat, Scotch plaid trousers, and hjglj. hat; frequents betting places, Information to be given to Constable Pojiitz, Borough Police Station, Nottingham, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- sireet, June 9. Charged on a warrant with embezzlement: BERESFORD LOVETT JONES, late of 35, St. Mary- square, Kennington, about 50 years of age, 5 feet 7 iuches high, slender build, stoops a little, fresh colour, hair turning grey, small whiskers, no moustache, and wears spectacles ; generally dressed in shabby dark clothes, and high bat. Information to be given to Inspector Bailey, Detective Department, 26, Old Jewry, E. C.— Bow- street, June 7. Stolen from the dwelling- house of Mr. Jennison Hopper, Great Kelk, East Riding, York, on the 24th ultimo, between 7 a. m. and 7 p. m. : two cotton Sl^ sits, two Table Cloths, one red and white and one white, Wome Towelling, an Anti- macassar, and on e metal Teapot. By a man of the following description: JACOB alias WILLIAM ASKAM, ( a lodger with Mr. Hopper) 25 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, and stout figure ; dressed in fustian jacket, cork trousers, black vest, and cap ; and a native of Sutton St. James, Lincolnshire. Information to be given to Superintendent Harper, Great Driffield, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, June 7. Stolen on the 3rd instant, between 2 and 3, from the drawing- room of the house of D. A. Taylor, Esq., Linkfield- street, in the borough of Reigate : one silver champagne Challenge Cup, with inscription—' Won by Edward Nolan in J- mile University Race' ; and three small silver round old- fashioned Tea Caddies. Both were respectably dressed. These men were stopped by the Police on the main road to Croydon, near the Caterham Railway Junction, and made their escape upon being followed by the Police.
