Wotice.— It is requested that all communications lor the purpose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolen property, may bear the Signature of the person requiring or sending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to the Editor, Police' Court, Bow Street, London, W. C. Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably neccssary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, ali Letters addressed to the Editor must be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. The Names and Descriptions of Deserters from the Army, and of Absentees and Deserters from the Militia, should be forwarded en War Office Forms 88 and 88A, to the Editor, as above, for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE. entered, and stolen therein : a brown velvet Coat, single- breasted, pockets in laps outside, and a large pocket inside ( supposed right lap), lined with plaid woollen lining, black bone buttons, not much worn; a pair of woollen cord Trousers ; a black round haul felt Hat; a pair of elastic- side imitation lace- up Boots, wil- h perforated toe- caps; 1 lb. of Butter; and about a stone of Bacon. Supposed by a tramp, who was begging in the neighbourhood, from 25 to 30 years of age, about 5 feet C inches high, small moustache, much sunburnt, and rather stout. He will probably be wearing the stolen clothes, as an old pair of dirty moleskin trousers, was found in a wood near the house. Information to be given to Superintendent Ryder, North Hiding Constabulary, Whitby.— Bow- street, May 24. During the night of the 2lst instant, Mold Railway Station was broken into, and 2s. 8^ d. stolen therefrom. Also, during the same night, Padeswood and Hope Junction Bail- way Stations were broken into, aud the following articles stolen therefrom, the property of Hannah Hughes, of Buckley, who had left her box at the railway station during the night : a red maroon French merino Dress, bound with same material and sewn by machine with black cotton ; a light pepper- and- salt- coloured Dress, trimmed with blue braid; a cotton Dress, with blue stripe and small blaek round dots, one horn button on each sleeve ; a lilac print Dress ; a black cloth Jacket, machine stitched round bottom, six black buttons down the front, and three corded loops across the breast; a black silk Jacket, half- tight, with quilting round the sleeves of same material, narrow black bead trimming in centre, and silk cord trimming round the neck ; a print Skirt, with yellow stripe and dark and white crossbars, two tucks round the bottom, bound with black braid ; a white Petticoat, with four or five tucks round the bottom; a puce stuff' Dress, with dark stripe, short sleeves, full body, trimmed with black braid; and some Underclothing. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Adams or to Inspector Minshull, Mold, Flintshire.— Bow- street, May 24. Further particulars respecting the tramp, suspected of entered the dwelling- house, at Radleigh, as advertised in the Police Gazette of the 14th instaut: he was apprehended at Ipswich, on the 18th instant, and is remanded to the Hadleigh Police Station, until the 27th instant, charged with housebreaking. The Overcoat was found in his possession : he is 23 years of age, 6 feet lis inch high, swarthy complexion, Stolen from the person of William Castree on the 18th blue eyes, no beard or whiskers ; dressad in brown overcoat, instant, at Ludford Park : a silver lever Watch, No. 5735, double- breasted, velvet collar, covered buttons, pockets on maker's name Edwin Bolt, Redditch. Information to be hips and right breast, outside, seam in middle of the back, to INFORMATIONS. FORGERY. Absconded, on the 18th inst, from the service of Mr. George Langridge, auetioueer, surveyor, & e., Tnnbridge Wells, charged with stealing a cheque for .£ 35 17s., and -. another for ,£ 25 ; also for forging an indorsement on one of them : CHARLES HAINES TAYLOR, a clerk, 28 years o£ age, 5 feet 7 inches high, thin, dark complexion, right eye partially blind, and small moustache. He has been in Canada and New Zealand, and he is supposed to be endeavouring to get to New Zealand or New York. Stolen from the person at Newport pleasure fair, about one spring- side, nearly new, the other a cossack, hob- nailed ; 8 p. m. on the 28th. inst., a patent silver lever Watch,! he states hl3 Eiime 18 FREDERICK DUNT, of Stratford No. 57027, no maker's name, sunk Seconds, open face, and Bridge, Stratford, Essex, and that he was discharged from capped. Information to bo given to Chief Superintendent tbe F - Battery, 19th Brigade, Royal Artillery, on the 24tli of Richardson, Wellington, or to Sergeant Christie, Newport, I December last, for bad conduct; he is supposed to be - Salop.— Bow- street, May 31. Stolen from the person of a gentleman in the borough of Macclesfield, on the 25th instant, while watching the Clown Cricketers : a gold lever Watch, gold dial, jewelled in four holes, maker George Corral!, Congleton, No. 24506. K.' marked on back. A silver English lever Watch and Guard. An old- fashioned silver Watch, double case, Roman figures, has a crack over the figure 6, ' T. B.' in large letters on inner case, maker Woolley, No. 1013. A gold Watch, by Dent, London. A gold Geneva Watch, swivel very much worn, has been mended. A silver hunter Watch, maker Ashdown, No. 744. A black Overcoat, with velvet collar, pockets at sides, conduct deserter. Information to be given to Hadleigh, Suffolk.— Bovi- street, Mav 2- 4. Inspector Palmer, GATTX. 18 STEALING. And WILLIAM ALLEN, about 30 years of age, feet 10, inches high, or 5 feet 11 inches, slender build, fresh complexion, rather good - looking, light hair and moustache, and no whiskers ; generally dressed in dark blue coat and vest, and black trousers, or in a suit of black, and velvet cap. Left his wife at Marske. He is a native of Chadwell or Chadwellheath, Essex. A third man is supposed to be in their company about 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, fresh complexion, and light whiskers all round the chin; dressed in dark clothes and black hard felt hat. Hartgrove and Allen were seen at Rosley Hill Fair, Cum- berland, on the 17th instant, dealing with the two Ponies. The brown one was sold, and has since been recovered. The grey pony is still missing. It is 14 hands 2 inches high, ( not 13 hands high as before- stated.) Information to be given to Superintendent Priest, Guis- borough, or to Sergeat Kitching, South Eston, Middlesbro', Yorkshire.— Bow- street, May 31. Further information respecting the Pony stolen from Yange Rectory ( as advertised in the Police Gazette of the 26th inr. tant) : the pony was 14 instead of 13 hands high, off hind foot white, aud not the near hind foot, as previously stated, has a scar on near hind fetlock joint, and a scar on off fore fetlock joint, cut by the shoe. Information to be given at the Police Station, Southend, Essex.— Bow- street, May 31. Stolen from a field near Crickhowel, on the night of the 24th instant: a brown hackney Mare, aged, about 15 hands high, black legs, tail cut, scar from halter under chin, scar under right fore leg, and white mark on back ; also a brown cob Mare, 6 years old, 14 hands high, white star on forehead, aud one white hiud fetlock. Information to be given to Superintendent Evans, Breconshire Constabulary, Crick- howell.— Bow- street, May 28. Stolen on the 25th instant, from Tunbridge Wells, the property of Mr. Thomas Waghorne, fly proprietor : a red and white Gelding, 13 hands 1 inch high, long white tail, star on forehead, and red face ; a village Cart, with oak- coloured body and chocolate wheels, silver plated lamps, and the end of the near wing broken ; also a set of silver- plated Harness and Snaffle Bit. By a lad who hired the same for an hour and a half, and did not return it, and who is supposed to be the same person charged with similar offences at Worthing and Hastings : he is about 17 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, dark bushy hair, and sallow complexion; dressed in black cloth suit and white straw hat with black bsnd. In- formation to be given to Head Constable Embery, Town Hall, Tunbridge Wells, Kent.— Bow- street, May 28. Stolen from a field at Shipley, in the West Riding of Yorkshire, on the 6th instant : an iron grey Irish Colt, 4 years old, about three parts bred, about 15 hands high, small star on forehead, small patch of white hair on outside of near hind hock, small sheath hairs rough inside of hind legs, had long tail, aud was unshod, value £ 40. Wras seen in Huddersfield Fair on the 14th instant, in possession of a man of the following description : about 28 years of age, rather tail and slender, dark complexion, no whiskers ; dressed in dark coat and vest, mixture trousers, ancl old- fashioned silk liat, with low crown, and broad brim. Information to be given to Superintendent Ball, West Riding Constabulary, Bradford, Yorkshire.— Bow- stieet, May 26. Supposed to have been stolen from a field near Ather- stone, Warwickshire, in the occupation of Mrs. Smith, during the night of the 22nd instant : a dark brown Mare, aged, about 12 hands high, right ear slit, slightly marked on the sides by shafts of trap, and square cut tail. Supposed stolen from Vineyard Farm, Charlton Kings, on the 17th instant: a dark brown- Horse, between 16 and 17 hands high, black legs and thin half tail; also a bay Mare, four years old, between 14 and 15 hands high, cut on near knee, and white stripe down the face. If stolen £ 5 reward will be paid on recovery of the Mare and Horse, and the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders. If strayed all reasonable expenses will be paid. Stolen from a dwelling- house in Middlesborough, on the 28th instant : a small silver Geneva Watch, No. 14735 ; a long plated gold Guard attached. By a man, who lodged in tbe house two nights aud absconded : he is about 26. years of age, 5 feet 7 to 8 inches high, dark complexion, hair, and moustache, and slender figure ; he said he was a cabinetmaker, and came from Malton ; dressed in dark shooting coat, grey striped trousers and vest, and a grey or drab hat, with a button at the top. Information to be given to Chief Con- stable Saggerson, Middlesborough.— Bow- street, May 31. Stolen from a dwelling house at Milford, parish of Bas 2 POLICE GAZETTE, May 31 church, on the morning of the 19th instant : a Brooch, set • with three pebbles ; a muslin Dress, white ground with blue sprig; and a white corded Petticoat, supposed marked ' E. Noaeley' on the band; the property of Elizabeth Noneley, Milford. By a young woman, who lodged in the house the night before, about 25 years of age, about 4 feet 9 inches high, dark hair, and sallow complexion ; dressed in black jacket, trimmed with crape, black dress, black hat, trimmed with crape and a large plait of crape in front and black feather behind, grey skirt, trimmed with red braid. She gave the name of WILLIAMS, and said she had been nurse in several lunatic asylums. Information to be given to Superintendent Gough, Oswestry, or to Police Constable Lyndon, Baschurch, Salcp.— Bow- street, May 31. Description of HENRY WILLIAMSON, a tramping shoemaker, supposed to be a native of Newcastle, charged with stealing a pair of new elastic- side Boot Tops, a quantity of Leather for bottoms of same, and a pair of Wooden Lasts { 1\ size) at Whitby, on the 22nd instant, the property of John Beadnell; he is about 40 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fresh complexion, grey eyes, brown hair, rather long, which he combs to the front of his ears on both sides, thiu features, and rather high cheek bones; dressed in dark clothes and round hard black hat. He was accompanied by his wife, and will probably seek employment in some large town. Informaion to be given to Superintendent Ryder, North Riding Constabulary, Whitby, Yorkshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, May 31. Description of WILLIAM BAKER, charged with stealing a quantity of Iron ( recovered) : about 35 years of age, about 5 feet 5 inches high, dark complexion, has lost his front teeth; dressed in a sleeved waistcoat, cord trousers, and hard jimcrow hat; hawks herrings and collects old iron ; has been living in Shrewsbury, with a woman, a native of Wrexham, of which place Baker is supposed to be a native. Information to be given to Superintendent Caswell, County Police Office, Shrewsbury, or to Sergeant Williams, Worthen, Salop, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, May 31. Stolen from the Weymouth Rowing Club boat- house, about 8 p. m. of the 28th instant : an open- face silver lever Watch, No. 3327, maker J. Leechman, has the letter ' T.' engraved on back of case, and black figures; a gold albert Chain and gold Locket and Bar, both plain. By WILLIAM HAMMOND or HEMMINGS, about 35 years of age ( but looks younger), 5 feet 5 or 0 inches high, sallow complexion, high cheek bones, rather stout build, full face, blue eyes, and. light blown hair cut . very short; shabbily dressed in a dark snuff- colour vest and trousers, dark cut- away coat, pockets on hips, and cap; he is in the habit of visiting boat clubs in different parts of the country, and has rowed in matches. He has just come out of Poole Prison. He offered the watch for sale at Portsham, and made enquiries for the road to Dartmouth. Information to be given to Superiutendent Vickery, Police Office, Weymouth, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, May 31. Stolen, on the 28th inst,, from a workshop at Worn- bridge, Herefordshire : a double- backed white Slop, nearly new, with white bone and metal buttons; a Square, marked J. Perkins ; a spoke Shave, marked under the knife, J. Perkins; a f- inch joiners' Chisel, marked on the handle, J. Perkins : supposed by an Irishman, a collier or iron- worker, 40 years of age, slender make, 5 feet 9 inches high, brown hair and whiskers, small moustache; dressed in old brown jacket and grey vest, and old moleskin trousers, patched on knees, and a very large patch on the seat, black jimcrow hat, and large clogs ; he is supposed to have gone in the direction of Pontypool. Also stolen, on the 25th inst., from a hedge at Michael- church, Exley, Herefordshire, brown mixture cord Trousers, nearly new, fall front, lined with unbleached calico, ancl with 4 metal brace buttons, some black bone do. Information to be given to Superintendent Cope, Hereford, or Sergeant Phillips, Abbey Dore.— Bow- street, May 31. Absconded from Cardiff, on the 15th instant, charged on a warrant with embezzling a large sum of money : ROBERT BAILEY WILLAVISE, a traveller, about 45 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, stout built, short neck, slightly pockmarked, rather dark hair, and whiskers turning grey, and moustache, florid complexion, grey eyes; ne has a peculiar gait, and walks badly ; geneially dressed in pepper and salt coloured clothing, high silk hat, - and carries a stick or an umbrella. It is supposed that he will try to leave the country. Any person giving such information as shall lead to his apprehension, shall receive J100 reward. Information to be given to Major Bond, Chief Constable, Cardiff, Glamor- ganshire.— Bow- street, May 28. Absconded from Netley, Salop, on the 23rd instant, charged with stealing! 15s. in Money from the dwelling- house of Thomas Knowles : a lodger, about 18 years of age, 5 feet 1 or 2 inches high, dark hair and complexion, sun- freckled face, hair cut short, and is a forge labourer ; dressed in dark grey cloth jacket, blaek cloth vest, dark grey trousers with blacii stripe down the side, lace- up boots with brass eyelet- holes, and cheesecutter cap ; has been tramping about the country as cattle drover, shoeblack, and occasionally carrying parcels for passengers at railway stations, has been in most of the large towns in the north of England, a^ d is supposed to be a native of Leeds. Piece ; £ 8 lOi in Gold ; a large gold Brooch, with an officer's likeness on ivory in case ; a gold Brooch, with hair ; a mourning Brooch, gilt and enamel, with hair, set with pearls ; a large Indian gold Ring, with emeralds; a gold Ring, with emerald set in pearls ; a gold Ring, with aquamarine and garnets ; a gentleman's gold Ring with stone ; a gentleman's Indian gold scarf Pin, set with emeralds ; a pebble Bracelet, set with silver ; a pair of gold Ear- rings ; a small gold Pencil - case; a large silver Pencil- case ; an old- fashioned gold Seal ; a gold watch Key, with inscription inside ; a coral Necklace and Armlets; and a small golij Brooch. Also from the dwelling- house of Mr. Owen : a silver Watch, No. 23297 ; four table Spoons, two marked ' S. P.' in cipher; and about £ 11 in Gold and Silver.
