Stolen from the person on the 7th instant, at Chatham : a gold lever Watch, No. 9351 ; a silver lever ditto, sup- possed No. 1427; a small silver lever ditto, maker Casper, Chatham ; a plain gold single- case Geneva ditto, with lever escapement ; and an old- fashioned gold ditto, with white face, engine- turned back, maker Samuel Allport, Birmingham. Stolen from a boy about 6 p. m. on the 7th instant, at Hill Ridware : a Coat ; a Satchel, containing several Bcoks ; and 3d., the coat, satchel, and books have since beeu recovered. By a tramp, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, dark complexiou, long dark hair, short dark whiskers; dressed iu an old brown coat, ragged brown trousers, and imitation seal- skin cap, no boots or stockings. ELLIS, late a farm*, of Dajre Bank, charged ( on a warrant) with uttering a forged cheque for J15, drawn upon the North Eastern Bank, Banow- in- Furuess : about 50 years of age, about 5 feet 10 inches high, medium build, dark brown hair, whiskers, Between 10 p. m. 31st ultimo aud 5' 30 a. m. on the lst instant, the house of Daniel Raisbrook, of Ashford, Kent, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : a dark blue rough cloth Overcoat, pockets at hips, one outside left breast, and small change pocket right side, lined with black alpaca, black velvet collar, worn; a Tobacco Pouch, with dog's head upon it; five silver Tea Spoons, fiddle pattern; a pair of silver Sugar Tongs, ditto ; a round metal Tea Pot; £ L worth of bronze Coins, in 5s. packets ; and two silver Thimbles. Absconded, charged on a warrant with embezzlement at Willington on the 5tli instant: JOHN LISLE, 32 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, dark hair, turning grey, brown eyes, aud large nose ; dressed in blue pilot jacket and round felt hat, carried with him a black leather satchel; he is a chemist, but has latterly been hawking jewellery. He is also charged with appropriating to his own use the following articles, which were entrusted to him to sell, viz. : one silver lever Watcb, silver dial, No. 37,038 ; cne silver lever Watch, enamel dial, No. 13011 ; one ditto, ditto, with ' T. Stolen between the hours of 9 p m. on the 6th and 6 a. m. on the 7th instant, from Hill Farm, in the parish of Hope Mansell: one pair of dark cloth mixture Trousers, men's size, with small white spots ; one brown moleskin Vest, with three buttons off, single- breasted, stand- up collar, and watch pocket on left breast ; one dark cloth Vest, with violet spots ; one white slop Jacket, torn under left arm; one pair of new elastic Braces ; one new bluo striped bundle Handkerchief, not hemmed; one old black Mackintosh, torn at bottom, behind ; one black soft high- crowned billycock Hat ; one white haudle Pocket- knife with two blades, small blade broken through the middle ; a black leather Purse with steel clasp ; and a pork Ham, weighing about 12 lbs., the property of Edwin Bailey and John Owen. By a youth who lodged at the house about three months : about 17 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, dark complexion, dark brown hair, and has an impediment in his speech ; dressed in a blue pilot jacket, light tweed trousers, lace- up boots, dark blue cap, and the stolen property ; he is a waggoner iu a coal mine. Description of THOMAS BURNS, charged with stealing £ 17 and a pair of gold Ear- rings, from a house in Northwich, on the 3rd instant: he has been in the Army, about 30 years of age, about 5 feet 8 inches high, light brown hair, thin light moustache, no whiskers, tattooed on arms, long features, and long straight nose; dressed in a brown cloth coat, velvet collar, light corduroy trousers, sealskin cap, and clogs. Information to be given to Superintendent Row- bottom, Middlewich, or to Inspector Duttan, Northwich, Cheshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, April 9. Absconded abo'ut the 20th December last, from No. 140, Strand, embezzling £ 50 : HENRY FANTON, 33 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, dark complexion, whiskers, and hair, and of respectable appearance. Absconded on the 30th ultimo, stealing £ 77, the monies of his employer, from North- street, Spitalfields: a man, 40 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, dark complexion, brown hair, beard, and moustache, pockmarked ; dressed in brown coat, cord trousers, white scarf with blue spots, fur cap, and lace- up boots ; it is supposed that he will eudeavour to go to America.— Metropolitan Police, H Division, April 5. Absconded on the 30th ultimo, from Gun- street, Spital- fields, stealing 17 dozen Rabbit Skins, the property of his employer : a man, 45 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, dark ; dressed in light brown coat, dark trousers, and fur cap.— Metropolitan Police, II Division, April 5. Stolen from the Marlborough Tap common lodging- house, Asbford, Kent, on the night of the 30th ultimo : a blue Guernsey, two Stove Brushes, two white Scrubbing Brushes, and a piece of Clothes Line, about 24 yards long. By a man, about 23 years of age, 5 feet 10 iuches high, fresh Complexion, stout built, and no whiskers or moustache; dressed in cord trousers, old dark cloth coat, with round hole in back, black billycock hat, with wire round brim, old lace- boots, cut up front, and no shirt. He is supposed to be a deserter from the Army. Information to be given to Super- intendent Noakes, Kent County Constabulary, Ashford.— Bow- street, April 5. Absconded from Burbage, near Buxton, on the 22nd ultimo, charged with stealing £ 1 4s. 4d., the moneys of the Buxton Lime Company: THOMAS FINDLOW, late of Buxton, a messenger, 20 or 22 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, slight, swarthy complexion, nearly black hair, right arm taken off close to the shoulder ; dressed iu a dirty gr ® y suit and cap ; tramps about the country begging. Informa- tion to be given to Superintendent Shaw e, Chapel- en- le- Frith, or to Inspector Lownda, Buxton, Derbyshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, April 5. Charged ( on a warraut.) with embezzlement: CHARLES FRASER, late of No. 8, the Grove, Ealing, 42 years of age, about 5 feet 9 inches high, bluish grey eyes, red hair, fresh complexion, sandy or red whiskers, and stout build ; dresses respectably. Information to be given to Inspector Bailey, City of London Police, Detective Department, 26, Old Jewry, London, E. C.— Bow- street, April 5. Charged on a warrant with stealing a Purse, containing 1 Sovereign in Gold, 8s. in Silver, 4 Farthiugs, aud a watch Guard, on the 23rd ultimo, the property of John Auckland, tailor, his master, of Stow, near Gainsborough : SAMUEL MOORE, 16 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fair com- plexion, brown eyes, black hair, and slim make ; dressed in dark clothes, and has a respectable appearance. He left Gainsborough on the 24th ultimo for Hull, he having friends in the East Riding of York. Information to be given to Superintendent Wright, County Police Station, Lincoln.— Bow- street, April 2. Description of HENRY LINGER, charged with em- bezzling a quantity of Canton Plait ( since recovered), of the value of about £ 7 : about 23 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, fair complexion, brown hair cut short, very slight light moustache, and has a red nose from a birth mark; dressed when last seen in a dark overcoat, grey trousers and vest, spring- side boots, and a black felt billycock hat; he is likely to seek employment as a clerk or porter iu a hat or bonnet warehouse. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Con- stable Pope, Luton, Beds, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, April 2. Stolen on the 24th ultimo, from a dwelling- house at Bulwell : a lady's gold horizontal keyless Watch, gold dial, and black figures, with a gold Albert Guard and Pendant attached, and £ 10 in Gold. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Palethorpe, County Police Office, Nottingham.— Bow- streetv April 2. FEAUBS AND AGGRAVATED MISDEMEANOURS. A man, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, and dressed in cord trousers and blue jacket, has been delivering parcels to several persons with Great Eastern Railway consignment notes, and charging various amounts for the carriage. Upon being opened, the parcels were found to contain only rubbish. Information to be given to Super- intendent Hedington, Great Eastern Railway, Bishopsgate Station, E.— Bow- street, April 12. Description of a man giving the name of ALEXANDER McALLISTER, and states that he is a native of Ardrie, Lanarkshire, remanded until the 14th instant, charged ( with another man not in custody) with attempting to obtain money by falsely representing that he was to assist a poor lady to the sea- side to recruit her health. He is 56 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fresh complexion, grey hair and whiskers, blue eyes, large mole on right side of nose, and walks with a stick.
