Description of a man charged with causing the death of his daughter: WILLIAM CHORLEY, 45 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fair complexion, dark hair and eyes, small and fair whiskers and moustache; dressed in dirty black suit and billycock hat; he frequents common lodging- houses, aud may apply for admission to casual wards; he is a natiye of Wellington, Somersetshire, and has a relative, a " baker, in Bristol.— Metropolitan Police, R Division, March 5, Charged with the murder of his wife Margaret Jones, at 37, Ben Johnson- street, Liverpool, on the 6th ultimo HENRY JONES, a tramping navvy, from 45 to 50 years of age, about 5 feet 10£ inches high, sandy hair and whiskers, fair complexion, strong made, broad shoulders, rather thin face, grey or blue eyes, rather long straight nose, and small mouth ; dressed in drab shooting coat, large pockets with flaps, large white pearl or bone buttons, double- breasted vest to match, with two rows of pearl buttons, dirty white slop over the vest, barrigan trousers, turned up at bottom of legs, short leggings underneath, heavy lace- up boots, and cap or billycock hat. Jle is a native of Shropshire or Welshpool. Has worked at Barrow- in- Furness and in Cheshire, and about a fortnight since was employed on a railway beiug made between Nottingham and Melton Mowbray ; he is well known to contractors and sub- contractors for the con- struction of new lines of railway. Her Majesty's Secretary of State tor the Home Department, has authorised the pay- ment of a reward of £ 60 to any person giving such information and evidence as will lead to his discovery and conviction. Stolen from the person iu Berwick- upon- Tweed, during the hiring fair on the 6th inst. : a double- cased silver verge Watch, white dial, cracked near vii, very old cases, much worn, maker Thomas Gibson, Berwick. Information to be given to Head Constable Garden, Berwick- upon- Tweed, Northumberland.— Bow- street, March 10. BURGLARY AID HOUSE BREAKING. Description of JAMES WARD, charged with bur- glariously breaking aad entering the dwelling- house of James Kings, of Cradley, on the night of the 11th ultimo, and stealing a quantity of Articles, since recovered : about 28 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, stoutly built, curly hair, and whiskers meetiug under the chin ; dressed in grey coat and vest, cord trousers, and white hat; generally works as a mason's labourer, and is a native of Worcester. Information to be given to Superintendent Harwood, Bromyard, Here- fordshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension ; and liis photograph can be had on application.— Bow- street, Marrch 12. During the night of the 10th instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. David French, Chatham,- was broken and entered, - nd stolen therein : an electro- plated cruet Stand, with seven compartments ; two Tops of bottles ; two silver tea Spoons, marked ' J. M. F.'; a meerschaum. Pipe; and a pair of Wellington Boots, lately clumped, marked ' No. 3' inside of tops, which the offender is supposed to be wearing. About 3 a. m. on the 9th instant some person or persons attempted to break and enter the dwelling- house of Mrs. James Chamberlain, of Old Catton, Norwich, by cutting a hole in a shutter with a centre bit, marks of chisel were also seen on the shutter. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Pigott, or to Detective Sergeant Hudson, County Police Station, Norwich — Bow- st., March 12, Stolen by means of housebreaking, between 11 p. m. on the 27th and 11 a. m. on the 28th ultimo, from a tailor and clothier's shop at Broxburn, in the parish of Uphall, Lin- lithgow : A pair of dark grey tweed Trousers, having narrow black perpendicular stripe with white thread in centre, fly front, white metal buttons, new. A double- breasted Yest, same cloth as trousers, lined with white, black cotton back, black or brown ivory buttons, new. A single- breasted black cloth Coat, two outside pockets with flaps, one pocket inside left breast, one button on each sleeve with imitation button- hole, lined with black Italian cloth, black cloth buttons, new. A double- breasted black cloth Yest, no neck or collar, lined inside and backed with narrow blue striped cotton, new. A pair of black cloth Trousers, fly front, black metal buttons, top band lined with light cotton having black and blue wavy stripes about f inch apart, new. Thirty- three pairs of tweed cloth Trousers, assorted, stripes of various colours, about an equal number of men's and boys' sizes, all fly fronts. A first- sized boy's knickerbocker Suit of blue diagonal cloth, trimmed with tracing braid. A double- breasted fancy black diagonal worsted shooting Coat, fancy black cloth buttons, A single- breasted Vest, same cloth as above, three pockets in breast, lined with slate- coloured cotton. A pair of canary- coloured worsted cord Trousers, tight in legs, for a groom, fly front, white metal buttons. Thirty- six tweed cloth Vests, men's and boys' sizes, assorted, striped and plaiD, some double- breasted with and without collars, some single- breasted, all lined with cotton cloth. A piece of dark grey twilled tweed Cloth, with a raised thread in it, about 6 yards long. A piece of blue pilot Cloth, about 6 yards long. Two pieces of brown beaver Clotb, each 2\ yards long. About twelve woollen Shirts, men's size, assorted stripes and checks, lined across shoulders with unbleached cotton cloth, all pearl buttons. Two check winsey Shirts, boys' size. Entrance effected by back door and door past being burned by some means, so as to expose the lock bolt, which had been coulter, and an inner door appears to have been forced open by the same weapon ; footprints of several parties were observed in the snow at the back of the premises, and a spring cart or other light machine is believed to have been employed in the removal of the property. About 12 p. m. on the 27th ultimo a man, dressed in dark clothes, and wearing a large muffler concealing his face, was seen in a close near shop back door, was caaigdy spoken to, and replied with Irish accent. Description of a man giving the name of JOHN MARTIN, read naa* Supposed to be CROSS, charged- stealing a Colt and Pony, the property of Mr. Porch, Bed minster, on the night of the 11th instant, and which he endeavoured to dispose of at Wells on the 13th instant; h- j is about 25 years of age, about 5 feet high, very slightly I built, rather fresh complexion, dark hair, small moustache, ! and little whiskers on chin, but may be shaved off, under jaw projects a little from the upper one, small teeth very much discoloured ; dressed in long dark overcoat much worn, dark cord trousers, black stiff bowler hat, and dark mixture necktie with pin. He has been seen travelling through the country selling flash jewellery, and repairing watches. £ 2 reward will be paid by Mr. Porch to any person who shall give such information as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the accused. Description of CHARLES PITMAN, charged with obtaining a Horse, value £ 26 5s., by false pretences at Reading on the lst ultimo : about 31 years of age, 5 feet 8 iuches high, proportionate build, fresh complexion, dark hair, eyes, whiskers, and moustache ; respectably dressed, but of horsey appearance. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Purchase, Borough Police Station, Reading, Berks, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— BmJU- street, March 17. • Found at Boylestone, on the 18th ultimo, supposed stolen: two roan barren Twinters, 2 year olds, were numbered respectively ' 4 and 9,' as if they had been sold at an auction sale. Information to be given to Superintendent Whieldon, Ashbourne, Derby, or to Inspoctor Taylor, Church Broughton, Derbyshire.- Bow- street, March 17. Stolen between 8 and 9 p. m. on the 15th instant, from a stable at Gresley, the property of Richard Mee : a dark brown mare Pony, 14 hands high, 4 years old, has a small patch of white hair on the front of right hind foot, small wart on right eyelid, and has been clipped ; the pony had on a sack, cut open and lined with green, for a rug, and a new hempen halter. There was left behind in the stable a hempeu Halter, about half worn and rather greasy about the middle. Charged on a warrant with stealing a 2- year old Heifer from Ruiston, on the night of the 2nd instant, which he sold at Bridgewater Market on the 3rd : a man, from 35 to 40 years of age, about 5 feet 11 inches high, brown hair, small whiskers inclined to be sandy, dark complexion, and inclined to stoop ; dressed in a black hard bowler hat, long brown cloth coat and vest, dark trousers with fly front, and heavy nailed lace- up boots ; he gave the name of JOHN COOPER, of Yatton- road, Weston- super- Mare. Information to be given to Superintendent Goldsmith, Taunton, Somerset- shire.— Bow- street, March 17. Description of a man who is charged with stealing a Bullock, since recovered, the property of J. Jones, of the Wells Farm, Cradley, near Malvern, on the 17th ult.: about 40yrs. of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, stoutly built, fair com- plexion, light hair and whiskers, and inclined to be sandy ; dressed in dark grey coat or jacket, light- coloured trousers, and new soft billycock hat. Warrant issued.— Metropolitan Police, Y Division, March 17. Absconded since the Oth instant, from Church- road, Battersea, charged with embezzling £ 1 16s. 8d., the monies of his employer : GUSTAVE ROBERT MOELCHARECK, 32 years of age, 5 feet 2 iuches high, sallow complexion, light hair aud whisKers ( slight), very stout;' dressed ( supposed) in dark clothes; speaks good English with a German accent, and is a native of Saxony. Warrant issued.— Metropolitan Police, V Division, March 17. Absconded from Middlesborough, on the 27th ultimo, charged with embezzlement: MARK BROOMHEAD, a railway goods'. porter, 43 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, dark brown hair, large brown whiskers and moustache, Tbut shaved under the chiu, larg'e roman nose, slender make, and stoops slightly ; dressed in a dark blue pilot jacket, black uioth trousers and vest, new elastic- side boots, imitation seal- skin cap, blue necktie, with yellow flowers, and a puce and black striped shirt; he is a native of Hexthorpe, near Doncaster, and has been a Boldieraud a. tailor ; frequents low public- houses, and horse racs. Absconded on the 15th instant, charged with stealing two Cheques, One for £ 155, the other for £ 33, and £ 40 in Gold: THOMAS SMITH, late of 42, Euston- square, 16 years « f age, 4 feet 6 or 7 inches higb, fair complexion, sharp features, and light brown hair ; dressed in blue over- coat, black pilot jacket under, dark trousers, leather leggings, and felt hat; he is rather good- looking, and of respectable " ppearance. Absconded early on the morning of tie 15th inst from a farm- house at Somerfordbooth, where he had been engaged as a servant, and slept in the bouse one night, stealing : one black cloth Jacket, one pair of grey- mixture Trousers with black stripe down the legs, and a double- breasted vest of the same material, all new : THOMAS CAPPER, about 21 yrs. of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, pale complexion, thin face, and slender build ; dressed in black jacket, light rough over- coat, brown slop, cord trousers, strong lace- up boots with brass eyelets, and light soft billycock hat, and had with bim a pair oi: long brown leather leggings; he has been convicted several Rimes'of felony at Knutsford and Stafford. Stolen on the 15th instant, from an hotel in the borough of Pewsbury : a s. m^ U'gold Watch, with a glass, gold Chain attached; a gold Necklet and Pendaut; three dress Rings, one turquoise and small diamond, one with pearls, and one garnet; also a seal- skin Purse, containing 2s. 6d. in Money. By a man, about 27 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high ; dressed in a dark suit, with a gold breast pin in his scarf, no whiskers or moustache. Information to be given at the Borough Police Office, Dewsbury, Yorkshire.—- Bow- street, March 17. Absconded on the lst instaut, from Liverpool, charged with embezzling .£ 5,000: EDWARD JOHN BARRY, cashier to a firm of timber brokers, a native of Liverpool, from 34 to 38 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 iuches high, rather stout, square shoulders, full face, small lump on right eye- brow, lett eye shot out, gunpowder ma^ ks over the face, more particularly on left cheek and nose, also under left eye, has a glass eye, wears blue spectacles, red- brown hair, parted iu the centre, and whiskers and moustache same colour. He walks erect, and is of gentlemanly appearance ; and dressed in an Ulster overcoat. £ 100 reward will be paid by his employers, viz., £ b0 for his arrest, and the remainder for the recovery of the money, or in proportion to the amount recovered. Charged on a warrant with larceny : LOUIS PHILIP CROSS, late of 2, Derby Cottages, London- road, Plaistow, Essex, 36 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, brown- grey hair, brown whiskers and moustache, grey eyes, fair complexion, slightly high shouldered, a somewhat stooping gait, front top tooth deficient, rather slender build, and is a commercial traveller. JOHN KEMP, late of 224, Euston- road, 33 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, sallow complexion, brown eyes, thin dark straight hair and whiskers, small moustache, large high square shoulders, broad chest, a deep scar left forefinger, warts on right hand, a swaggering gait, and a clerk. JOHN ROBERTS, 1, Catmore- buildings, Buckingham- palace- road, Pimlico, a Welshman, 32 years of age, 5 ft. 5 ins. high, stumpy figure, thick dark red hair, beard and moustache, rather fresh colour, restless manner, and snuffles after speak- ing, and is a warehouseman. Information to be given to Superintendent Dunn, County Constabulary Office, Durham.— Bow- street, March 12. Absconded from Windsor, en the 8th iustant, charged on a warrant with embezzling large sums of Money : THOS. HOLDMAY, a solicitor's clerk, about 40 years of age, looks younger, about 5 feet 6 or 7 iuches high, dark complexion, very dark hair, cut short, moustache, stout make, small feet and hands ; he is very fond of singiug, has left a wife aud eight children destitute, and has friends living at Bedford. Iuformation to be given to Superintendent Hayes, Police Office, Windsor, Berks.— Bow- street, March 12. Stolen from the dwelling house of Mr. William Davis, engineer, High- street, Wednesfield, about 11 a. m., on the 9th instant: two £ 5 Notes, which were afterwards cashed by a man, who has absconded, named JOSEPH TILLETT, labourer and a lodger, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, dark brown hair, small dark moustache, fair complexion, grey eyes, upper lid of left eye partly cut away, and eye blood- shot, marked with letter ' D' on left side, and end of left thumb cut off ; dressed in blue- black ribbed cloth coat, plaid vest, black cloth trousers, white and dark red muffler, hard black billycock hat, and watertight boots, with brass hooks at top. He was discharged from the Royal Horse Artillery E Battery C Brigade about three years ago, and has relatives at Molden- road, Colchester, Essex. Information to be given to Sergeant Goodall, Police Station, New Cross, Wednesfield Heath, Staffordshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, March 12. Description of a woman who absconded from Weymouth on the 22nd December last, charged with stealing : a Dress, a Bonnett, and 5s., the property of one Mary Norster :— MARGARET COBBETT, 40 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, fresh complexion, light hair, rather slight build, and very much given to drink ; she is a tailoress, and native of London, Information to be given to Superintendent Vickery, Weymouth, Dorsetshire, who holds a warrant for her apprehension.— Bow- street, March 12. Absconded on the 23rd ultimo, charged on a warrant with receiving stolen goods : ALFRED BERENFELDT, a pawnbroker, of No. 94, Upper Whitecross- street, St. Luke's, 35 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark hair, whiskers, and moustache, dark complexion, thin face, slimly built, pro- minent nose, speaks quickly, stoops a little, aud a jew ; dressed respectably. Information to be given to Inspector Bailey, Ciiy of London Police, Detective Department, 26, Old Jewry, E. C.— Bow- street, March 8. FRAUD ® AND AGGRAVATED MISDEMEANOURS. Description of a man who is endeavouring to place in circulation Forged Bonds of the Chicago and North Western Railway of America : he is 30 years of age, 5 feet 7J inches high, sallow complexion, slight build, no whiskers, slight dark brown moustache, rather long face with a troubled look, speaks slowly and low, and is dressed respectably ; has the appearance of an American. lie has attempted to obtain an advance upon a number of the bonds at pawnbrokers; and has obtained money upon others at a stockbrockers.
